My Wife Became a Top Star After I Came Back from Quick Transmigration - Chapter 7
The memory of a young, confident Lin Mo still echoed loudly in Su Qixi’s mind.
She once watched a movie where the main character said, “My true love is a hero, and one day he will come for me on a seven-colored cloud.”
At the time, Su Qixi felt she was just like that fairy. She believed her true love was an even greater hero, who would pull her from the mud and guide her all the way.
But Su Qixi never expected that the full quote would apply to both the fairy and herself:
“I guessed the beginning, but I couldn’t guess the end.”
The hero left the fairy, and her own hero also left. It was as if beautiful people were never meant to be troubled by the mundane world.
That’s why Su Qixi never thought Lin Mo would ever give in. Even with her recent appearances, everything seemed to hint at a desire to reconcile.
Lin Mo looked at Su Qixi, who seemed lost in thought. Her deep eyes became more serious as she repeated, “Little Qixi, I really regret it.”
Su Qixi bit down hard on her lower lip to keep from losing her composure. The lip was nearly bleeding, a sign of her panicked and helpless state.
Lin Mo frowned, seeing the faint trace of blood on her lips. She reached out to touch her face, but Su Qixi turned her head away.
Su Qixi looked at Lin Mo, her eyes welling up with tears.
“Why?”
Lin Mo slowly retracted her hand, not answering.
“Why did you disappear back then? Was my affection that disgusting to you? If so, then why did you come back?” This question had haunted her for eight years. Did a simple “I like you” erase three years of friendship so cleanly? Did it force her to hide so completely?
Lin Mo, I looked for you for so long. I asked everyone, but no one knew where you were.
“If I tell you, will you believe me?” Lin Mo’s voice was steady, without any emotion. She seemed resigned.
Su Qixi laughed, mockingly replying, “Go on, tell me. If you really regret it, you should at least show me some sincerity.”
Lin Mo nodded. Yes, she should.
Even though she could hear the disbelief in Su Qixi’s voice and knew that this wasn’t the best time, she still had to try.
She understood human nature and knew that people rarely handle things calmly when they’re angry. Su Qixi’s questions were filled with resentment over Lin Mo’s departure. No matter what she said now, Su Qixi might not accept it.
Lin Mo knew that nothing she said would be believed.
But the words she couldn’t say back then because her mission wasn’t complete, she could now finally tell her.
Looking at the stubbornness in Su Qixi’s eyes, Lin Mo closed her own for a moment and said softly, “Little Qixi, what if I told you I temporarily left this world and went to another one? If I said that…”
“…would you believe me?”
Su Qixi let out two sharp laughs before retorting, “Is that any more believable than saying you went out to sea to catch fish?”
Lin Mo laughed too, with a playful tone, “…I guess not.”
Su Qixi choked on her words, glaring at Lin Mo. Just argue with me!
After returning, Lin Mo had looked for Qin Ke. The first thing he said when he saw her was, “Where on earth did you go? Su Qixi was going crazy looking for you. She went to every single one of our classmates’ homes. Her teachers had to pressure her to go to college. She was depressed for a long time; it wasn’t easy for her to get through it. Where did you go, Lin Mo?”
The person I left behind went through so much pain.
Thinking of this, Lin Mo’s heart softened. If she didn’t believe her, so be it. People are supposed to look forward. Lin Mo smiled and called out, “Little Qixi, Little Qixi.”
This gentle whisper was something Su Qixi could never resist. Even after eight years, she was still close to giving in.
But she constantly reminded herself: This person not only rejected me, but she also hid from me for eight years. Not just eight years, but eight years without a single word.
Is that something a normal person would do?
She had even feared Lin Mo was dead, crying so much that her manager almost sent her to the hospital.
If she hadn’t developed a hard, cold heart, how could she have survived these eight years? A rotten plant should just stay rotten. To try and be reborn is a joke.
So, why should she welcome her back just because she returned? Is that fair to the last eight years?
Is that fair to the “I like you” I confessed after the college entrance exams?
So, she asked irritably, “What are you calling me? Don’t call me that.”
Lin Mo opened her arms. “Can I have a hug? I really missed you.”
Su Qixi was stunned and turned her head away unwillingly. But when Lin Mo pulled her into her arms, she didn’t resist. Through the thin fabric, they shared warmth and a familiar scent. For a moment, Su Qixi was lost in the embrace.
“Little Qixi, did you miss me?”
Su Qixi quickly snapped back to reality, telling herself: Reject her coldly!
So, she said in a cold voice, “No, I didn’t. How long are you going to hug me?”
Lin Mo slowly let go. Su Qixi snorted and turned to leave.
“I meant it when I said I regretted it,” Lin Mo’s voice came from behind her. “I want to pursue you, Little Qixi.”
Su Qixi’s mind went blank, but luckily, she had a “hard, cold” heart. So she held her head high like a proud swan and walked away.
Lin Mo: “…Hiss.” I want to grab her and hug her tight. Of course, that was just a thought.
The two returned to the private room one after the other. Qin Ke saw them and teased, “Where did you two go?”
Wen Jiayong glanced at Su Qixi’s lips and was shocked. That was fast. But he still joked, “Your face is so red. Is it hot?”
Tao Shu, Su Qixi’s former desk mate, was speechless. “Your lips are bleeding.” If this were on camera, it would be impossible to explain.
Bleeding?
Everyone turned to look at Su Qixi. Her lips really were bleeding, and her face was so red… Could it be…?
Their eyes involuntarily fell on Lin Mo. Lin Mo was stunned for a moment, then sighed and said, “You guys who aren’t in the entertainment industry are still so good at imagining things. Maybe you should start a fan club.”
Wen Jiayong was shocked. “You even know what a fan club is?”
Qin Ke, relieved, said, “You scared me. I thought you were that violent!”
Fang Gangyi: “Are you talking about ‘forced love’?”
Lin Mo: “…You need to read fewer novels.”
Fang Gangyi freaked out: “I wasn’t reading ‘My Bossy CEO’! Don’t accuse me!”
“Hahahaha!” The entire class erupted in laughter.
Hao Tianhua laughed and said to them, “Come on, sit down! The food’s getting cold.”
Maybe it was because of their conversation in the bathroom, but everyone noticed that Su Qixi wasn’t as cold as she had been before. But she seemed even more… heartless, refusing to even look at Lin Mo, yet she didn’t refuse the food Lin Mo put on her plate!
What was going on?
Hao Tianhua asked Su Qixi, “Since you entered the entertainment industry, it’s been hard to get in touch with you. It must be tough on your own, right?”
The classmates listened quietly. After all, it was a mystery how an unremarkable student became a top celebrity.
Su Qixi shook her head. “I was lucky. One of my college classmates was in the industry, and with her guidance, I didn’t take any detours.”
She really was lucky.
Hao Tianhua nodded and asked, “I hope inviting you here didn’t cause you any trouble?”
Su Qixi quickly shook her head. “Not at all. Besides, I owe so much to you, Teacher. If it weren’t for you…” As she said this, she felt a lingering fear.
Hao Tianhua looked at Lin Mo, who gently shook her head.
Hao Tianhua sighed. “Let’s not talk about that. It’s all in the past. We should always look forward.”
