My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale - Chapter 65
The slightly bitter liquid slid down her throat, reaching her stomach along the esophagus, cool and carrying a strange tingling sensation. After taking a sip, Yue Yiyao frowned at the glass.
The taste of the wine wasn’t as good as she had imagined. Yue Yiyao raised the deep brown liquid in her hand, looking at her slightly red face reflected in the glass: “I shouldn’t be drunk, right?”
After speaking, she lifted her head and drained the liquid in the stemmed glass in one go.
A soft, almost imperceptible chuckle came from across the table.
Yue Yiyao put down the glass and looked at Gu Nanqiu, confused: “Did I drink too fast?”
When her gaze fell upon the wine in Gu Nanqiu’s glass, she nodded thoughtfully, answering her own question: “Oh, it seems I did.”
Afterward, she placed the glass on the table, staring at the bottle with complex foreign writing: “This is my first time drinking.”
“It’s also my first time traveling, not meaning going to a different place to study, but actually traveling.” Yue Yiyao emphasized the latter part of her sentence: “It seems I’m a bit boring. It must be easy to get bored when you’re with me.”
Yue Yiyao didn’t quite know what she was saying. She just kept fiddling with the glass in front of her.
“Well, actually, I’m a bit uncultured,” Yue Yiyao leaned back against the comfortable sofa, her eyes narrowing as she snuggled comfortably into the blanket draped over her, uttering the sentence with a sense of self-deprecation.
Now that she had started, the rest of the words tumbled out all at once.
“That hairdryer was a bit strange. I was contemplating it when I first held it.” Yue Yiyao looked up again at the accent lights on the ceiling: “I haven’t seen any of this before. It’s all new. If it weren’t for you, I probably wouldn’t have access to any of this in my lifetime.”
“Actually, flying was the same. I kept watching you from the back, so I wouldn’t look stupid and embarrass you.”
After saying all this, Yue Yiyao looked curiously at Gu Nanqiu sitting opposite her. She didn’t know what she was expecting.
But in the instant she looked over, although Gu Nanqiu was still sitting there as before, casually sipping the wine in her hand, Yue Yiyao felt that this Gu Nanqiu was different.
“Hmm, I think I should be drunk now, but I shouldn’t be.” Yue Yiyao shifted positions to lie down more comfortably. She mumbled indistinctly, glancing at the quartz clock nearby. It was… eight ten…
Her mind vaguely registered that something was wrong, but the thought was immediately washed away by the alcohol. Finally, Yue Yiyao just felt a little floaty.
Gu Nanqiu, sitting opposite, picked up another glass of wine from the table. She unhurriedly poured the decanted wine and watched Yue Yiyao lying on the sofa with a half-smile.
What Yiyao said wasn’t enough…
Just a little more…
Her finger twitched slightly, and the room seemed to get warmer.
Yue Yiyao tugged at her collar. Because she was somewhat irritated, her movements were a bit exaggerated. Her collar was pulled loose, revealing her vulnerable neck.
Her fingers slid across her neck. Yue Yiyao seemed to remember something. She leaned forward, smiled at Gu Nanqiu opposite her, and pointed at the nearly vanished bite mark: “Look, you left that.”
The small mark on her fair neck fell into Gu Nanqiu’s eyes. Following that almost-gone mark, her gaze slid down to Yue Yiyao’s growing physique.
The desire in Gu Nanqiu’s eyes intensified, and even her breathing carried a hint of heat. She sat there quietly admiring for a moment, then thoughtfully pulled Yue Yiyao’s clothes closed: “Yiyao, is there anything else you want to tell me?”
“I’m here. Tell me, won’t you?”
“Or can you tell me if you’re willing to stay here with me forever and ever?”
As this sentence appeared, Yue Yiyao immediately felt several adorable Gu Nanqius in her head desperately waiting for her to speak.
Hurry and spill all her inner thoughts.
And promise Nanqiu that she will stay here with her always and forever.
Yue Yiyao automatically filtered out the latter half of the sentence. She was only desperately eager to let Nanqiu know everything about her now. She felt that only this way could they become intimate without any barriers from now on.
It must be because the alcohol content is too high. Yue Yiyao shoved the blame entirely onto the wine on the table.
“Where I used to live, it was messy and chaotic. It was very messy, especially messy.” Yue Yiyao looked up at the speckles of light: “I never dared to look up and think about tomorrow, nor would I consider traveling.”
“Because living was too tiring.”
Especially tiring.
“I never thought that one day I would really be drinking in such a nice place.” Yue Yiyao spoke, her voice laced with a slight sob: “And I seem to have forgotten something…”
“Everyone comforted me, saying to let go of what was forgotten.”
Salty tears rolled down the corner of her eyes, quickly forming a dark little spot on the sofa fabric.
“But I feel like it’s something important, something I shouldn’t forget.”
Gu Nanqiu gracefully rose. The dark green robe appeared before Yue Yiyao like leaves swaying in the forest, carrying a slightly cool breeze and that familiar osmanthus scent.
Soon, a cool hand pressed against Yue Yiyao’s flushed cheek. Yue Yiyao, with blurry eyes, subconsciously rubbed against the comforting temperature.
In her muddled thoughts, Yue Yiyao saw a pair of crimson eyes. They conveyed many emotions she couldn’t comprehend, yet the person in front of her was still Gu Nanqiu.
She seemed to hear Gu Nanqiu ask that question again: if she was willing to stay here and accompany her forever.
Gu Nanqiu…
Yue Yiyao squinted. With a long reach, she pulled the person into her embrace: “You’re the one I should have forgotten.”
“Although I’ve forgotten you, don’t worry, I will find you.”
Yue Yiyao didn’t know what she was saying.
She only felt Gu Nanqiu slowly lean in. The woman’s voice seemed to be right next to her ear, yet also separated by something. Yue Yiyao tried hard to concentrate, wanting to hear clearly.
She did hear fragmented words… love?
“Love… darling… you’re so cute even when drunk… but you’re so cunning. You keep refusing to answer my question… I originally wanted you to stay here with me forever and ever, so no one could ever hurt you…”
“Will you find me?”
“Will you really find me?”
The voice gradually weakened, yet the plea was exceptionally stubborn.
“I will.” Yue Yiyao held onto the last shred of sobriety. She cupped the face of the person in front of her and planted a kiss: “For all eternity, as long as I’m alive…”
The mist outside the room subsided slightly. The quartz clock inside the room seemed to be released by something, starting to tick rhythmically.
Gu Nanqiu looked at the little liar who had fallen into a deep sleep, and she sighed softly.
“I told you you couldn’t do it.” The Gu Nanqiu in the mirror suddenly spoke. She reached out and touched the thin mirror surface, looking at the two people in the room.
“Turn down the AC. It’s too hot. Cover her with that one… Yes, it seems you haven’t forgotten these things. That’s good too.”
The Gu Nanqiu outside the mirror snapped her fingers. The room temperature dropped a few degrees. She looked at the person sleeping on the sofa, her gaze softening: “You win. After this is over, I’ll go back. But before that, I’ll stay here… I want to spend more time with her…”
The Gu Nanqiu in the mirror smiled: “That scene won’t happen again. But if this makes you feel better, then you can experience this part this time.”
When Yue Yiyao woke up, the first thing she saw was that beautiful face and those hazel eyes, leaning close and staring at her.
Her eyes carried a curiosity for the unknown and a hint of timidity.
Thinking this, Yue Yiyao felt she must have drunk herself silly. She lay silently for a while, confirming that she couldn’t recall anything she had done after drinking. This must be a blackout.
Judging by Gu Nanqiu’s appearance, she probably hadn’t done anything embarrassing.
With that thought, Yue Yiyao crawled out of bed, quickly washed up, and yawned as she drew the curtains. The rain outside had stopped. It was a nice, sunny day.
This was where the advantage of a high floor came into play.
“This room was really worth booking! Nanqiu, where do you want to go today?”
Before she finished speaking, she felt a warm body press against her, wrapping around her. A breath brushed against Yue Yiyao’s neck, tickling her.
Gu Nanqiu nuzzled Yue Yiyao stickily: “I just want to stay here with you.”
“It’s best if we never go out. You don’t know how dangerous it is outside…”
“Twenty-something people died in the building next door last night.”
Saying that, Gu Nanqiu released Yue Yiyao, turned around, and switched on the TV. The news was currently reporting the incident urgently.
Yue Yiyao turned back to stare at the reporter on the TV anxiously broadcasting the news, and she watched the medical personnel rushing about in the background, along with people crying.
Yue Yiyao felt sad about this. So many lives lost at once…
After watching the entire news report, Yue Yiyao walked over and sat next to Gu Nanqiu. She asked seriously: “Did the so-called rule appear again?”
Although she was already certain of the answer internally.
Yue Yiyao also felt some regret. She shouldn’t have been lucky enough to think her internal plot radar hadn’t sounded, and she should have transferred to another place.
But she felt confused. Her memory of the book was becoming increasingly fragmented, now reduced to only seeing mist. In the depths of her mind, Yue Yiyao felt that the time was approaching, the time for the plot to pass judgment on her character…
Gu Nanqiu looked at Yue Yiyao’s tightly furrowed brow and pressed pause: “Perhaps. After all, such large-scale casualties without anyone knowing. It wasn’t until someone went to work this morning and found many people smiling and hanging themselves with their employee badges at their workstations.”
“This is a rumor sent to me by a friend in City A, but it sounds so terrifying that I couldn’t sleep after seeing the message.” Gu Nanqiu shivered, matching her words.
“Indeed.” Following Gu Nanqiu’s lead, Yue Yiyao thought for a moment. She walked to the floor-to-ceiling glass, tracing patterns on the glass with her finger, finally pointing to the opulent building across the street labeled “Keyu Center”: “Are you talking about that building?”
Yue Yiyao’s eyesight was good. She could see the red/blue lights flashing on the white ambulance and the hurried running of the nurses. But because of the distance, they were very small.
The next moment, Yue Yiyao abruptly stepped back. She rubbed her eyes in disbelief and urgently patted Gu Nanqiu beside her.
“Can you… can you see over there…” Following the direction Yue Yiyao pointed, Gu Nanqiu saw several windows open wide on a certain floor of the opposite building. Then, one by one, people were strung up and hung down, finally forming a giant i love you.
