My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale - Chapter 53
“Are you… back looking for us?” Xie Ying stared at Yue Yiyao. She suddenly blurted out this question.
“Do you want to make a wish, too?”
“What is your wish?”
“Cake—”
“Why? Why is there no cake smell on you?” Xie Ying leaned in, sniffing Yue Yiyao with a strange expression.
After a moment of bewilderment, she started to question loudly: “You’re not a believer?”
“Why! Why is there no cake smell on you?”
Following Xie Ying’s repeated accusations, more and more eyes appeared around Yue Yiyao.
They stared straight at Yue Yiyao, with words floating across their white eyeballs: “Judgment.”
“Judgment.”
“Judgment.”
“Wish.”
“Wish.”
“Wish.”
Pairs of hands drilled out of the pupils, like blooming poppy flowers.
Behind them was He Wu.
He stood on the highest platform, looking down at Yue Yiyao, as if watching a tiny ant.
“Are you here for Gu Nanqiu?”
“She and her lover will be very happy.”
“And you, you pathetic little worm, you are not needed.”
Yue Yiyao’s hand shook, and the sharp dagger appeared in her grip.
She looked at He Wu expressionlessly: “Where is she?”
“Don’t you understand?” He Wu glared, his eyes full of mockery: “You are too incompetent, so she chose someone who needed her more.”
The knife flashed, and a hand that was about to hook Yue Yiyao’s clothing fell to the ground, rolling and gathering dust, then was kicked aside by Yue Yiyao: “Where is she?”
With a flying kick, Yue Yiyao burst one of the nearby eyeballs, and with a backhand, she yanked out the hand.
Having dispatched the three closest eyeballs, Yue Yiyao stepped onto a classroom desk, skillfully leaped over the row of desks, and instantly arrived next to He Wu.
She executed a back suplex, slamming He Wu to the ground, and quickly sliced through his hand tendons.
“Where is she?” Yue Yiyao’s dark eyes held no extra emotion, and the veins on her hand bulged as she lifted He Wu by his collar.
The sharp pain instantly turned He Wu’s face pale. He screamed and cursed: “You lunatic, why are you suddenly like this?”
He tried to struggle and throw Yue Yiyao off but was hit by a few more elbows from Yue Yiyao, causing his nose to bleed profusely.
“I’ll ask one last time. Where is she?”
This version of Yue Yiyao exceeded He Wu’s estimate. He stared at her face, and after a moment, he let out a cold laugh.
“You care about her that much? What a pity, the Wish God has already taken her away… If you want to find her, you must first make a wish…” He wiped the blood from his mouth and looked at Yue Yiyao provocatively: “Your technique is brutal; you weren’t clean in the past, were you?”
“How can someone like you stand by Gu Nanqiu’s side?”
“Do you dare tell Gu Nanqiu about your past?”
Another punch landed solidly on He Wu’s face.
Having gotten the answer she needed, He Wu was useless. Yue Yiyao stood up and surveyed the surroundings. She walked up to Xie Ying: “Student Xie Ying, do you know where the cake is?”
Xie Ying remained in that dull, stupefied state, like a soulless puppet, but her pupils trembled violently, as if struggling against something.
Yue Yiyao took a deep breath, casually squeezing another nearby eyeball until it popped.
What should I do?
What can be done?
She instinctively bit her finger, her mind racing.
Who was available in the original story?
Who can I find to help?
As she thought, a layer of black mist surged up from the floor, rapidly enveloping the entire building.
The electric lights buzzed and flickered.
The classroom doors on the fourth floor simultaneously made crackling open-and-shut noises, like mischievous children playfully toggling the doors.
Turning around, Yue Yiyao saw He Wu tremblingly crawling up from the floor, his head twisted at a bizarre angle.
Then, Yue Yiyao watched He Wu remove his own head and place it on a nearby desk.
He then took out a paper box from an unknown place.
“Yue Yiyao… why didn’t you just kill me?” His tone was unusually puzzled.
“The look in your eyes just now clearly showed you wanted to tear me—to shreds—”
He coughed a few times, his voice starting to twist and change. The surrounding students also began to tremble, blood and tears streaming from their eyes, and the red glow in their chests grew brighter and brighter.
“Tch…” The Box-Headed Monster (He Wu) muttered under his breath. If Yue Yiyao had killed him just now, the crime would have been immediately established.
Well, never mind. Anyway, his murder was just a formality.
“I quite like you.” He Wu… no, it should be the Box-Headed Monster. He dramatically opened the lid on his head and tossed out a few hearts: “The reason I stole this body was to get close to you, and then—”
“Play to death—Pfft—”
The Box-Headed Monster was cut short mid-sentence by Yue Yiyao, who arranged a clean stab—white knife in, red knife out.
Yue Yiyao watched the speed at which the blood flowed from the grooves on the blade. She estimated the effect, and delivered another stab.
This stab went straight for the heart.
Unfortunately, nothing seemed to happen to this body. Instead, a body behind Him instantly collapsed.
Turning into ashes.
Yue Yiyao lowered her head and watched as the black, thick-lined expression on the cardboard box changed into a mocking smile.
Mocking Yue Yiyao’s overestimation of her own power.
Monsters were different from humans. Yue Yiyao was certain she couldn’t completely kill this thing.
She had no fire source, and setting the school on fire was also out of the question.
The Box Head was merely an appendage of the psychotic Wish God.
Yue Yiyao was not interested in fighting; she stood up and ran straight outside.
“Too late.” The Box-Headed Monster tilted its head. The stiff figures that were merely props suddenly seemed to be granted life, rushing towards Yue Yiyao with red eyes.
Yue Yiyao nimbly wove through the crowd, quickly broke free, and ran downstairs.
She quickly checked to see if any other students were lingering nearby.
The wind whistled past her ears, and the monster behind her was quickly catching up.
Yue Yiyao sprinted, braced her hands, and cleanly leaped down from the second floor.
“Whoa, that was cool.” Gu Ye’s voice of admiration reached her ears. Yue Yiyao turned to see the pale-green electric scooter and Gu Ye holding a helmet.
She took the helmet, swung her long leg over the scooter: “Let’s go.”
“Alright—”
Back home, before Gu Ye could even speak, she watched Yue Yiyao rush straight into the bathroom.
Yue Yiyao adjusted the water temperature and plunged her head in. Moments later, the bathroom was filled with steam.
She repeatedly washed her hands, scrubbing away the bloodstains on her body, and then threw her clothes into the trash can.
Ten minutes later, wrapped in a bath towel and toweling her hair, she emerged from the bathroom.
“Gu Ye, do you have any channels to find information about He Wu?”
The Box Head claimed it was a body snatcher, but Yue Yiyao didn’t believe it.
However, the eyeball-like things—the Box Head hadn’t had those before.
It must have become stronger due to some reason.
Gu Ye looked at Yue Yiyao after her shower. She awkwardly ushered Yue Yiyao into the room and closed the door: “I’ll ask the people at my workplace; someone there should know. ”
“I was just checking the time, noticed you hadn’t come back after all this time, and weren’t replying to messages. I hesitated for a bit and decided to go check.”
“Then I saw you descend from the sky. Honestly, seeing the things behind you then—it scared me to death, even more terrifying than the thing that chased me that day.”
“By the way, Yiyao, are your feet okay?”
“I’m fine.”
Separated by a door, Yue Yiyao’s voice was slightly muffled, and her tone sounded flat.
She didn’t sound anxious at all about Gu Nanqiu’s disappearance.
Gu Ye was a little worried, wondering if Yue Yiyao had believed those creatures’ claim that Gu Nanqiu had gone to find her own happiness.
Don’t!
But if Gu Nanqiu didn’t come back, according to the sequence… Hey, it wouldn’t be me either.
Oh… then I’d rather she came back. At least she lets me hug Yiyao.
She squatted by the door, worried on one hand and conflicted on the other.
Just as she was thinking about how to bring up the subject of Gu Nanqiu, the door opened again.
Yue Yiyao looked down at Gu Ye sitting by the door: “You… what are you doing here?”
Gu Ye looked up at Yue Yiyao, blinking: “Gu Nanqiu didn’t come back, and I’m a little worried about you.”
“You two usually get along really well.”
Gu Ye was a bit nervous: “You know what I mean, right? After all, the way you asked me to check the information didn’t sound like a search for a person.”
“More like a search for revenge?”
“No, no, not revenge either. It’s hard to describe.”
Yue Yiyao pondered for a moment: “All in all, I want that monster dead.”
“Gu Ye, will you help me?”
Yue Yiyao placed some of her hope on the number that couldn’t be blocked.
She also picked up her phone and began searching for nearby cake shops.
After marking the twenty-three closest shops, Yue Yiyao handed the keys to Gu Ye, asking her to guard the house, order food if she was hungry, and find a place to sleep if she was tired, before hurrying out.
Throughout this, she never mentioned Gu Nanqiu.
Gu Ye couldn’t quite grasp Yue Yiyao’s attitude.
Her human studies weren’t great, and asking directly felt inappropriate.
After much deliberation, she entered the kitchen. Since things are this way, I’ll cook three dishes and a soup for Yiyao. That way, she’ll have food when she returns from her busy schedule, which will be good for her stomach.
After preparing the meal, she dialed a number.
Amidst sounds of sarcastic cold ridicule, Gu Ye looked at the brightly blooming flowers on the balcony: “But after this, Yiyao will go to A City, eh. Now this number can be passed on to the other us~”
Following the optimal route she had planned, Yue Yiyao searched cake shop by cake shop.
Unfortunately, there was no information.
She sent the information regarding Gu Nanqiu’s disappearance to the Forensic Doctor, also hoping they could help search for the cake.
The Forensic Doctor stated they would immediately increase manpower and asked Yue Yiyao for a map of the nearby cake shops.
After the ding-a-ling sound of a door closing, Yue Yiyao walked out of the shop woodenly, another cake shop with no results.
People came and went on the street. Yue Yiyao wearily rubbed her forehead.
“Yue Yiyao?”
A somewhat unfamiliar voice entered Yue Yiyao’s ears.
She turned around and saw a somewhat disheveled Wu Zhen.
There were several signs of being grabbed on her clothes, as if they had been caught by something.
With just a glance, Yue Yiyao could confirm the damage was caused by the hands-with-eyes accompanying He Wu.
Wu Zhen stood still. She looked at Yue Yiyao, wanting to approach but restrained by some consideration.
After a moment of silence, Wu Zhen’s tears flowed before her next sentence.
“I’m sorry… it’s all my cousin’s fault. He did this without my knowledge… I couldn’t control him…”
“I’m currently trying my best to find a way to save him, Yiyao. I’m sorry. Can you please give me a chance to make amends? I only ask that you spare He Wu’s life.”
