My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Lu Yeyan suddenly bit down on Yu Zining’s neck. A tingling, numbing sensation instantly sent a shiver through Yu Zining’s entire body.
Lu Yeyan spoke low: “In your eyes, am I truly such a bloodthirsty addict?”
Yu Zining’s gaze flickered away. To him, Lu Yeyan was exactly that; he felt like nothing more than a plaything in the man’s hands. He was a trophy to be paraded around for status, a minor pawn in a corporate game. If Lu Yeyan treated him this way, how would he treat someone like Feng Nuan, who had almost no remaining utility?
Seeing Yu Zining’s dazed expression, a spark of anger flared up within Lu Yeyan. He grabbed Yu Zining’s face, forcing him to look straight ahead, a dark, ominous smile playing on his lips.
“Yu Zining, then I shall let you know what true bloodlust feels like!”
With that, Lu Yeyan snatched a small blade from the bedside medical kit. Before Yu Zining could react, he slowly and lightly drew the blade across Yu Zining’s chest.
“Ah—”
The pain brought tears to Yu Zining’s eyes.
The wound wasn’t deep, but it drew blood. Hearing Yu Zining’s cry and seeing the crimson stain seemed to excite Lu Yeyan even more. He leaned down, his thin lips pressing against Yu Zining’s chest as he slowly licked the blood away. Yu Zining’s body couldn’t stop trembling.
It was madness. Yu Zining felt his initial resistance slowly melt into a strange compliance. Like a victim of Stockholm Syndrome, he found himself becoming increasingly attached to Lu Yeyan.
Sensing Yu Zining’s shifting emotions, Lu Yeyan seemed to grow gentler. Otherwise, with his lack of experience and characteristic roughness, he likely would have tormented Yu Zining until the break of dawn.
The design drafts were successfully returned to the company, bringing them one step closer to the competition.
..
The Next Day…
When Yu Zining woke up, he found a laptop sitting on the table. A maid walked in carrying a glass of milk.
“The Young Master ordered Secretary Shen to bring this over. He said it’s for you to pass the time.”
After the incident where he risked escaping, Lu Yeyan seemed to have finally lowered his guard. Yu Zining opened the computer and set a password. Since Li Yiyang was busy with events and hadn’t come to discuss the song details, Yu Zining spent his time peacefully composing in the room.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It was a video call from Li Yiyang. To avoid any unnecessary trouble, Yu Zining declined it immediately.
Li Yiyang followed up with a confused emoji. Yu Zining sighed and typed back: Sorry, it’s not convenient right now. Let’s just text.
Li Yiyang replied with an “Okay” emoji. They began discussing the composition, but before they were halfway through, there was a knock at the door.
“Madam, Secretary Shen is here with an evening gown. She says the Young Master has a cocktail party tonight and wants you to attend.”
Yu Zining closed his laptop and replied, “Alright…”
He walked over to the vanity and looked at the wigs Lu Yeyan had prepared. A bitter smile touched his lips. Lu Yeyan’s arrangements were always so meticulous. Sometimes, Yu Zining wondered: when they were together, did Lu Yeyan only love the face he saw in the woman’s disguise?
Yu Zining changed into the gown. This one was entirely different from his previous style—a seductive, vibrant red. The long train trailing behind him was elegant, while the shorter front revealed his pale knees, adding a touch of flirtatiousness. The off-the-shoulder design combined with fresh, modern patterns made the dress look truly unique.
When he stood before Shen Ziqi, her eyes widened. Even as a woman herself, she felt she could never hope to match Yu Zining’s current beauty.
Yu Zining didn’t look happy. He only asked softly, “A new product?”
“Huh? Yes. It was designed by a high-profile designer we scouted from abroad.”
Yu Zining lowered his eyes and said nothing more. He knew this was the case; otherwise, why else would Lu Yeyan let him out? Yet, despite knowing he was being used—knowing he was insignificant to the man—he couldn’t bring himself to resent him. He couldn’t bring himself to run away. Instead, he wanted to get closer. I really am sick, he thought.
Like a human mannequin, Yu Zining let the makeup artist transform him before Shen Ziqi led him to the car. During the drive, Yu Zining broke the long silence. “How is Feng Nuan?”
Shen Ziqi blinked, then smiled. “Her? President Lu arranged for her to go abroad to be with her boyfriend. To ensure she isn’t a threat to you, he moved them into a villa where their food, clothing, and medical needs are fully covered. However, she isn’t allowed to leave. It’s her punishment, in a way. I was actually surprised by President Lu’s approach this time. If it had been the old him…”
Realizing she was talking too much, Shen Ziqi trailed off and looked out the window. A faint smile touched Yu Zining’s lips. So, you aren’t exactly like the rumors say. You do have a heart.
Yu Zining checked his phone and saw that Li Yiyang hadn’t sent any more messages. He closed it. From this moment on, he had to play the mute again.
…
At the Other Side
Li Yiyang stood before a mirror in a perfectly tailored suit. As expected of a star, his proportions were flawless, his lean physique a testament to his dedication at the gym.
His manager, Liu Momo, walked over. “Tonight’s collaborations have been pushed. Just focus on the banquet. But remember: go straight home afterward. Don’t wander around and get caught by the paparazzi.”
Li Yiyang gave a mischievous grin. “Don’t worry…”
His phone rang. Seeing the name on the screen, he smirked. “Hello!”
A gentle woman’s voice came through. “Yiyang, are you ready?”
Li Yiyang flopped onto the sofa. “I’ve been ready for ages. Just waiting to go.”
The woman laughed. “Good. Be careful on the road, and watch what you say at the banquet. Also…”
“Alright, alright, I know. You just got back and we haven’t even met yet, and you’re heading straight to the banquet. Do you think I don’t know how important tonight is? I’m not a kid anymore; I’m a national idol.” Li Yiyang beamed with pride.
The woman smiled. “Fine, stop being cheeky. I’m getting ready to leave. See you in a bit.”
“See you!”
Li Yiyang hung up and opened WeChat to look at the profile for “Lemon Who Loves Fish.” He chuckled. “Lemon-laoshi, I’ll come find you once I’m done being busy!”
