My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
This was Feng Nuan’s final struggle, fueled by the fallout of He Yilun’s words.
Lu Yeyan’s eyes darkened. Staring at Feng Nuan with a hollow gaze, he spoke with a voice of pure ice: “No one can threaten me. Hand over the designs.”
As soon as he said this, everyone present looked at him in shock.
Yu Zining froze, his eyes filled with terror as he stared at the man before him. So, to Lu Yeyan, the design drafts were the only things that truly mattered.
Feng Nuan was taken aback. She shrieked, “I don’t believe it! You care about him. Otherwise, you would have killed me at the villa—why bother coming all the way here?”
As she spoke, Feng Nuan tightened her grip, and a sliver of bright red blood began to seep out where the jagged shard pressed into Zining’s skin.
Lu Yeyan remained expressionless. “He carries the title of ‘Mrs. Lu.’ If something happens to him, where would that leave my family’s reputation? Besides, you’ve seen it yourself—he’s a man. Between the designs and him, who would be so stupid as to choose wrongly?”
Reputation. Gender. A stupid choice. Each word felt like a needle piercing Yu Zining’s heart. He had once thought he was special to Lu Yeyan. Now he realized that to this man, he was nothing more than a matter of “decency.”
He Yilun began to have doubts. Is Lu Yeyan being sincere or just putting on an act? Seeing the gash on Zining’s neck, his brow furrowed. This is Lu Yeyan for you. How could a man as bloodthirsty as him ever truly fall in love?
He Yilun noticed a stone at his feet. Seizing a moment when Feng Nuan was distracted, he kicked the stone with precision. It struck her leg, causing her to lose her balance and her knees to buckle.
Lu Yeyan’s pupils dilated. In a flash, he lunged forward, pulled Yu Zining away, and delivered a brutal kick to Feng Nuan.
He looked down at Zining, who was staring back at him with a shattered gaze. Lu Yeyan’s briefly tense expression returned to cold indifference as he pushed Zining toward Shen Ziqi.
“Untie him,” he commanded. Shen Ziqi hurriedly loosened the ropes.
The bodyguards restrained Feng Nuan and recovered the design drafts, handing them to Lu Yeyan. He Yilun rushed to Zining’s side, grabbing his wrist. “Are you alright?”
Yu Zining pulled his hand back from He Yilun. He glanced at the man who stood with his back turned and whispered, “I’m fine…”
Lu Yeyan’s brow tightened. He turned to leave without sparing Zining a single glance.
He Yilun looked at Lu Yeyan and smirked. “Technically, I’m the one who saved your ‘wife,’ isn’t that right?”
Lu Yeyan didn’t reply. He simply stopped his pace and barked, “Are you coming or not?”
Yu Zining knew he was talking to him. Despite everything, he found himself instinctively following Lu Yeyan’s footsteps.
“Zining, do you need to go to the hospital first?” He Yilun asked.
Shen Ziqi interjected, “President He, we will handle the arrangements. There is no need for you to worry.” At her signal, the bodyguards hauled Feng Nuan away.
He Yilun smiled and looked at Zining. “The most tragic people in the world are those who love blindly. Feng Nuan only did this to save her sick lover. I only hope Lu Yeyan’s punishment is light.”
Zining’s body trembled. He understood Feng Nuan’s desire to save a loved one all too well. But he also knew that for Lu Yeyan, there was no such thing as a “light” punishment for a traitor.
…
As the cars drove away, He Yilun got into his own vehicle. His secretary turned from the front seat, looking confused. “President, CEO Lu knows so much about your private affairs now. Why aren’t you worried?”
He Yilun shrugged. “Those are minor things. I only stepped back today because I didn’t want the old man to find out about them yet. Lu Yeyan wants to topple the Ou Group, but to do that, he has to strike at our very foundation. Do you think the old man’s decades of work were for nothing? What I’ve done today is just the appetizer. The real war has only just begun.”
…
Back at the Villa
Lu Yeyan didn’t return to the office. Instead, he stayed at the villa with Yu Zining.
Zining sat in the bedroom while a private doctor cleaned his wounds with alcohol. Lu Yeyan walked in, glanced at the doctor, and said coldly, “Leave us.”
The doctor bowed and exited. Lu Yeyan took the alcohol-soaked cotton and pressed it firmly against the cut on Zining’s neck. Zining hissed in pain.
Lu Yeyan’s eyes darkened. “Now you know the meaning of pain? Who told you to run out dressed as a man to find Feng Nuan?!”
Yu Zining found himself at a loss for words, tears beginning to fall. “I only wanted to help you. I suppose it’s my fault after all.”
Lu Yeyan’s brow tightened. He wiped the tears from Zining’s cheek with his thumb, then suddenly pinched Zining’s face hard. He maintained his usual overbearing stance. “Yu Zining, who do you think you are? Do you think you’re a victim? Or do you think someone as powerful as Lu Yeyan needs protection from a weakling like you?”
Zining’s heart sank. “N-no.”
Lu Yeyan lowered his gaze and let go. Seeing the dried blood on Zining’s forehead, he felt a flicker of something in his chest. “Take off your clothes.”
Yu Zining looked at him in surprise.
“I need to see if there are other injuries,” Lu Yeyan added flatly.
Zining slowly shed his outer layers. Dark purple bruises were scattered across his body. He lay down on the bed cautiously. Lu Yeyan sighed and began to apply cooling medication to Zining’s back. As the liquid touched his skin, a tingling sensation spread through his body.
“Feng Nuan… what are you going to do to her?” Yu Zining asked softly.
Lu Yeyan’s hand paused. “That is not your concern.”
Zining bit his lip. “If you can… could you give her a lighter punishment? She only made a mistake for the sake of her boyfriend.”
Lu Yeyan didn’t move. Sensing the sudden silence, Zining slowly rolled over to look at him, but his hands were instantly pinned down. Lu Yeyan held Zining’s wrists above his head, staring at him like a predator. Zining’s breath hitched, sensing that Lu Yeyan was about to make a move.
“I… I’m still injured,” Zining stammered.
Lu Yeyan leaned in close, his hot breath fanning against Zining’s face. He quirked an eyebrow. “Yu Zining, don’t take yourself so seriously.”
Zining looked back at him, startled by the flicker of anger on Lu Yeyan’s face.
…
Lu Yeyan’s “protection” is as sharp as a blade. Do you want to see if Yu Zining manages to soften his heart, or if the corporate war escalates?
