My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
When she saw clearly who had arrived, Feng Nuan’s body trembled. She turned to run, but it was already too late; she was completely surrounded by Lu Yeyan’s bodyguards.
Lu Yeyan approached her with a face so dark and menacing that Feng Nuan’s resolve shattered. Her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the ground.
At that moment, He Yilun entered the scene as well.
Seeing He Yilun, Feng Nuan’s eyes lit up as if she had found a lifeline. She cried out to him, “President He, save me!”
He Yilun raised an eyebrow and nonchalantly picked at his ear. “Feng Nuan, do you still not understand the situation? Hand over the Madam.” He Yilun was an expert at deflective phrasing, notably omitting any mention of the stolen design blueprints.
Lu Yeyan shot a sideways glance at He Yilun before fixing his gaze on Feng Nuan. “The blueprints,” he demanded.
Feng Nuan’s brow furrowed, and she began to laugh maniacally at Lu Yeyan. “President Lu, do you think I’m still afraid of you? At worst, I’ll just die. If that happens, none of you will ever get those blueprints. And as for the Madam… ha… he and his secret will be exposed to the entire world.”
With that, Feng Nuan pulled out her phone and played a video.
In the recording, Yu Zining was dressed in men’s clothing, his hands and feet bound, lying unconscious.
A flicker of pity passed through He Yilun’s eyes when he saw the video, but Lu Yeyan reacted by pinning Feng Nuan to the ground with his foot. The sudden impact of the kick terrified her, and blood immediately seeped from the corner of her mouth.
She smirked and said, “President Lu, as long as you let me leave safely, I’ll release your ‘wife.’ Otherwise, the secret in my email—the truth about him being a man—will be automatically sent to the press at a set time.”
Feng Nuan had kept a trump card; she had never truly trusted He Yilun.
Lu Yeyan’s face remained expressionless, his icy gaze looking down at Feng Nuan as if she were a mere insect. His thin lips curled as he spat out: “Do you no longer care if he lives or dies?”
He pulled a photograph from his pocket and threw it in front of her. He withdrew his foot, watching the woman crumble.
The photo showed a man lying in a hospital bed. His skin was ghoulishly pale, and he had lost all his hair. A ventilator was strapped to his face, and he lay there quietly, looking as though he had been in that state for a very long time.
Seeing this, Feng Nuan completely lost her footing. Her previous bravado vanished, replaced by sheer panic as she looked at Lu Yeyan. “Lu Yeyan… what… what did you do to him?”
Watching the drama unfold, He Yilun’s brow tightened as he leaned against a nearby cabinet with his arms crossed.
Lu Yeyan’s lips twitched. “I didn’t do anything to him. I simply discovered that almost all of your salary goes toward keeping this man in a foreign hospital. This is your boyfriend, isn’t it? I imagine you must love him dearly; otherwise, who would stay by a man with no parents who has become a vegetable?”
Feng Nuan was stunned. Lu Yeyan’s intelligence was thorough; he had not only found her boyfriend but had investigated every detail in such a short window of time.
Tears streamed down her face as she knelt at Lu Yeyan’s feet, pleading, “President Lu, I beg you, don’t hurt him.”
Lu Yeyan didn’t speak, but Shen Ziqi said anxiously, “He is safe for the time being, but if you keep stalling, no one can guarantee his safety! Tell us, where is the Madam?”
Terrified, Feng Nuan blurted out, “He’s in an abandoned house in a village on the outskirts. I’ll take you there! I’ll take you!”
Lu Yeyan turned and met He Yilun’s eyes. He Yilun smirked and made a “please” gesture. As Feng Nuan passed by him, He Yilun whispered with a demonic smile, “YIY is quite merciful toward traitors, isn’t it?”
Feng Nuan shuddered. YIY was Lu Yeyan’s empire, and she knew all too well how ruthless his methods could be. She wouldn’t have taken such a risk if it weren’t to pay for her boyfriend’s treatment, but now the truth was out. Lu Yeyan would never let her go—but her boyfriend’s life was still in his hands.
He Yilun watched her back, his eyes darkening. His secretary stepped up. “President He, are we going?”
“Yes, of course. Since Lu Yeyan knows this started because of me, I’d be a sinner if something truly happened to his wife, wouldn’t I?” He Yilun turned to his secretary with a meaningful look. What was he really thinking? Was it truly what he said, or did he just want to see for himself if Yu Zining was safe?
…
Sitting in the passenger seat, Shen Ziqi looked at the car following them in the rearview mirror. “President He is following us,” she told Lu Yeyan.
Lu Yeyan lowered his eyes and said simply, “Let him.”
What was He Yilun playing at? Did he want to see how much Lu Yeyan actually cared about Yu Zining? Lu Yeyan felt he must have lost his mind to show his hand so clearly in front of an enemy. The more he acted this way, the more dangerous Yu Zining’s future would become.
Soon, Feng Nuan led them into the small village. After navigating a winding, narrow path, the dilapidated house came into view.
Feng Nuan rushed inside and hauled up Yu Zining, who had fallen to the floor. When Yu Zining saw the rescue party, his eyes filled with hope. He Yilun looked at the squalid surroundings and covered his nose in disgust.
Feng Nuan’s next move shocked everyone. She picked up a sharp piece of broken tile and pressed it against Yu Zining’s throat. Yu Zining’s mouth was covered, leaving only his panicked eyes to speak for him.
Lu Yeyan was visibly shaken; his body jolted with an impulse to rush forward. However, he forced himself to stop, standing perfectly still as the panic on his face was replaced by a cold mask.
“Feng Nuan, what are you doing?” Shen Ziqi cried out.
Feng Nuan screamed, “I can’t leave with nothing! The blueprints are on me, but you have to let me leave safely first, or I’ll kill him right now. Once I’m safe, I’ll give you the blueprints!”
He Yilun stood to the side, his eyes fixed on Lu Yeyan. He wanted to see exactly what choice Lu Yeyan would make.
Shen Ziqi looked at Lu Yeyan in desperation before turning to Feng Nuan. “Feng Nuan, calm down! There’s no need for this. If you release the Madam and return the blueprints, we can guarantee your safety.”
“Cut the crap! This is Lu Yeyan we’re talking about—he’s decisive and ruthless. How could he let me leave safely? But I’m pleasantly surprised; it turns out I have a very good bargaining chip, don’t I?”
As she spoke, Feng Nuan pressed the sharp tile deeper into the skin of Yu Zining’s neck.
