My Possessive Boss Is Unexpectedly Needy - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Yu Zining and Feng Nuan instantly became entangled in a violent struggle.
“Lu Yeyan isn’t the person you think he is! Give me the designs now. I promise you’ll stay safe, and you can even get a sum of money out of this!”
Clearly, Feng Nuan didn’t believe a word he said. In the eyes of the outside world, Lu Yeyan was a terrifying existence.
During the scuffle, Feng Nuan’s foot missed a step, but she maintained a death grip on Yu Zining. The two of them tumbled together down the dilapidated staircase of the attic.
Yu Zining’s head hit the ground with a sickening thud. His mind went blank, and the world around him began to spin into darkness. Beside him, Feng Nuan was also badly shaken from the fall.
She staggered to her feet, swaying as she nearly collapsed again. Gasping for breath, she grabbed a vase from a nearby table and smashed it with all her might against Yu Zining’s head. The vase shattered into a thousand shards.
The world went black for Yu Zining, and he lost consciousness.
As Feng Nuan slowly regained her composure, she tremblingly reached out and tore the mask off Yu Zining’s face. When she saw the face underneath, she gasped in pure shock.
…
Early Morning: YIY Group
Shen Ziqi handed a folder of organized documents to Lu Yeyan.
“Mr. Lu, the new design team is ready. We’ve also uncovered some information regarding Feng Nuan’s whereabouts.”
Lu Yeyan flipped through the file. His eyes darkened, and a cold smirk played on his lips. He realized the time had come. Looking at Shen Ziqi, he commanded, “Go to No. 12 Fuchang Road!”
Just as Lu Yeyan stepped into the car, Gu Yuan called.
“Hello…”
Gu Yuan’s panicked voice came through the line. “It’s bad, Young Master! Madam found out about the trouble at the company yesterday and escaped through the window.”
Lu Yeyan’s expression turned icy. After a long silence, he replied with a simple, “Understood,” and hung up.
He stared out the window, his heart a chaotic mess of emotions. Yu Zining, do you really want to run that badly? Is this how you ‘make me believe you’? As he thought, his weary eyes filled with a flash of bitter resentment.
…
They soon arrived at No. 12 Fuchang Road.
However, when they entered, the place was already deserted. Only the messy remains of a struggle from the night before were left behind.
Shen Ziqi surveyed the room and turned to Lu Yeyan. “It seems someone got here a step ahead of us.”
Lu Yeyan’s gaze was leaden. Who? He knew this entire scheme was He Yilun’s masterpiece; a trick like this wasn’t usually hard for him to dismantle. But because Yu Zining was involved, Lu Yeyan had lost his composure, giving He Yilun the opening he needed.
Was this scene the result of a failed negotiation between He Yilun and Feng Nuan? No—given He Yilun’s personality, if he wanted to get rid of Feng Nuan, he wouldn’t leave such obvious signs of a fight. This looked like a desperate one-on-one brawl.
Shen Ziqi suddenly realized something. “Yesterday, Madam called me to ask for details about Feng Nuan. Could it be… Madam?”
Lu Yeyan’s eyes widened in shock. He spun around, marched out, and threw himself back into the car. Shen Ziqi followed closely.
“Sir, where to?” the driver asked.
Lu Yeyan’s voice was like a blade. “To the Ou Group!”
…
The car screeched to a halt in front of the Ou Group headquarters.
Lu Yeyan was usually a man of meticulous planning, but when it came to Yu Zining, his discipline vanished. He never wanted anyone to know that Yu Zining was his weakness, but at this moment, he didn’t care.
He kicked open the door to He Yilun’s office. The employees of the Ou Group poked their heads out, eager for gossip. He Yilun’s secretary frowned and barked, “What are you looking at? You all want to work overtime?” before slamming the door shut.
He Yilun was startled by the intrusion but quickly regained his smirk. “CEO Lu? To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Lu Yeyan lunged forward and grabbed He Yilun by the collar, forcing the seated man to feel the full weight of his oppressive aura.
“Cut the crap. Tell me: where is Feng Nuan!”
He Yilun pulled a face of feigned innocence. “What are you talking about? Who is Feng Nuan?”
Lu Yeyan tightened his grip, making it difficult for He Yilun to breathe. “I know you’re in contact with her. She stole my designs and kidnapped my wife. You’d better talk, or even if Ou Fucheng returns, he won’t be able to save you.”
Lu Yeyan looked down at him with a gaze devoid of emotion, as if he could crush He Yilun like an ant at any second.
When He Yilun heard that Yu Zining was missing, a flicker of genuine surprise crossed his eyes, but he quickly masked it. He patted Lu Yeyan’s hands. “You must be joking, CEO Lu. If someone is kidnapped, you call the police. Why come to me?”
Lu Yeyan shoved him back and took a file from Shen Ziqi. He slapped the documents against He Yilun’s face.
“He Yilun, do I need to remind you what’s in here? The small companies you own independent of the Ou Group, and your private transactions with Feng Nuan.”
He Yilun froze and scrambled to look through the papers. He hadn’t expected Lu Yeyan to dig this deep—his offshore accounts and companies registered under foreign aliases were all laid bare.
Lu Yeyan leaned in close and raised an eyebrow. “If that old man Ou Fucheng finds out his successor is making moves behind his back before he’s even dead, would it give him a heart attack?”
He Yilun went pale, then let out a bitter laugh. “Fine. Lu Yeyan, I underestimated you. Feng Nuan is at my villa in the suburbs. But as for Yu Zining’s whereabouts… I don’t know. You’ll have to ask her yourself.”
Without another word, Lu Yeyan turned and swept out of the office.
He Yilun yanked at his tie, his eyes dark as he glared at the door. His secretary whispered, “President He…”
Suddenly, He Yilun burst into a piercing, jarring laugh that sent shivers down the secretary’s spine. He turned to the secretary, his brows arched. “He thinks he won. He’s wrong. Lu Yeyan has just completely exposed his Achilles’ heel to the world. Come on, let’s head to the villa. I want to enjoy this show.”
…
The Suburban Villa
Inside the villa, Feng Nuan had everything packed. She was just waiting for He Yilun’s check so she could flee the country.
Suddenly, the door swung open. A man stood in the doorway.
