My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 55
Before He Yu could answer, the man took a step toward them. “Raise your head.”
As everyone tensed, He Yu slowly looked up, meeting the gaze of the pirate Elder. She had already manifested the ring of the “Immortal” in her palm; if anything went wrong, she would at least have a fighting chance.
The Elder froze when he saw her face. “You are an Omega?”
Gu Yin reacted instantly. “No, no, you are a Beta.”
He Yu, hearing Gu Yin’s prompt, responded calmly. “No, I am a Beta.”
“Oh, is that so?” It was unclear if he believed her, but the Elder nodded coldly and turned to Gu Nuan. “What is your relationship?”
“We are siblings. This is my younger brother.” Seeing Gu Nuan trembling, He Yu answered first. “My brother is a bit timid. This is his first time seeing the Elders at the main base, so he is quite nervous.”
Gu Nuan shrank behind He Yu, truly looking like a pitiful sight. The Elder looked away nonchalantly. “Where are you going? You have not set the elevator destination yet.”
“Ah?” He Yu was momentarily stunned. Gu Yin quickly spoke up in her ear, “You want to visit the activity center on the fifth floor. Press the blue button and select 5-95-27.”
“W-we wanted to visit the activity center on the fifth floor. I was just so nervous I forgot.” Taking a step back, He Yu looked at the three blue buttons before her. Which one was it?
Just as she was about to press one at random to play along, a large hand appeared in front of her, pressing the middle blue button and selecting the destination for her.
“I can tell you have not been here long. Personally, I find the setup of these elevators quite troublesome. They are often confusing.”
The Elder’s voice sounded right above her head. He Yu’s hand trembled slightly. The corner of the elevator was already cramped, and with Gu Nuan beside her, the Elder’s reach effectively cornered her.
“Thank you, Elder…” He Yu glanced at the hand beside her face. Since he had already pressed the button, why was he not pulling his hand away?
“You have a very sweet scent. Is that perfume?” Having finally pulled his hand back, the Elder spoke again before He Yu could even exhale.
Her heart skipped a beat. He Yu realized she had been so nervous that she had failed to control her pheromones properly. Because the Elder was standing so close, he had caught a whiff.
“It might be because I just finished a honey-flavored nutrient paste,” He Yu said, her eyes darting to the red dot on the display screen showing their movement. To her surprise, they were going to the same floor; they were going to the fifth, while the Elder was going to the sixth. That made sense—the Elders lived on the sixth floor.
“A very cute scent.”
He Yu forced a smile that was as fake as it could be, but the Elder, perhaps lacking keen observation, did not notice.
As they neared their destination, He Yu prepared her goodbye speech, but the Elder paused, his poker face cracking into a slightly unnatural smile. “Since you are just browsing, would you like to visit the sixth floor, Miss Yu? The… game hall there is quite nice.”
This was a stroke of luck. Gu Yin’s eyes brightened. “Accept! Accept!” That way, she would not have to figure out how to sneak them onto the sixth floor.
Unfortunately, Gu Yin spoke too late; He Yu had already refused. “I think not. Our status does not permit us to visit the sixth floor. Thank you for your kindness, Elder.”
“There is nothing you cannot do. I have long felt this grade-based system is quite inhumane. Do not worry; with me here, you can come and go from the sixth floor as you please.”
The Elder spoke naturally. Gu Yin, who was monitoring the data on the screen—specifically the section on who had first proposed the grade system collectively decided upon by the Elders—realized that if his eyes were not failing him, the Thirteenth Elder before them was actually the person currently standing beside He Yu.
Though Gu Yin was speechless at the Elder’s hypocrisy and shamelessness, she could not let such a good opportunity pass. “Sister-in-law, stay calm and accept. Think of the Commander. Consider it for the Commander’s sake?”
He Yu: … If your Commander heard you say that, you would likely die before this Elder does.
Ultimately, He Yu did not refuse again. “Then I truly trouble you, Elder.”
“It is no trouble. Just stay behind me when you reach the sixth floor and do not wander off. The other Elders are currently absent, and their private domains are strictly forbidden to anyone else. It is easy to be punished, you understand?”
He Yu nodded. They bypassed the fifth-floor activity center and headed straight for the sixth, passing through layers of inspections. Although the security on the sixth floor was stricter, with an Elder by their side, they passed without issue.
Along the way, if not for Gu Nuan standing right beside her, He Yu would have thought she was alone in the elevator with the Elder. Seeing Gu Nuan’s deathly pale face and the fine beads of sweat on his forehead, she could only hide him further behind her and face the Elder alone.
When the elevator doors opened again, they entered a sixth floor entirely different from the ones below. The vast, empty palace-like space felt alien to He Yu, who was accustomed to the long, small corridors of the lower levels.
“The sixth floor is quite spacious, but there are few people here, so it is inevitably a bit empty.” The Elder led the way. He Yu pulled Gu Nuan closely behind him, listening as the Elder introduced the layout like a tour guide, though she heard not a single word. She only wanted to know how to shake off this Elder and find Gu Jin.
Remaining outwardly calm, He Yu asked for advice in her mind.
After a short while, Gu Yin’s voice came through, sounding slightly breathless. “Do not be impatient. I have just entered the central control room. Even if you find Gu Jin’s room, you will not be able to open the door without the code.”
“How can I not be impatient? We are almost at his domain, and I do not want to tour his room.” He Yu tapped her palm impatiently.
“It is fine. Is Gu Nuan not still beside you?” Gu Yin’s side emitted the sound of manipulating a large-scale optical computer. He Yu suspected he might already be cracking the code.
Casting a glance at Gu Nuan, who was trailing her like a marionette, He Yu’s confusion grew. “Are you sure Gu Nuan’s current state is normal?”
Gu Yin paused. “Uh… it falls within the normal range. Do not worry. If you encounter any uncontrollable situations, Gu Nuan in this state is better equipped to handle them.”
Before He Yu could contemplate what Gu Yin meant, the Elder stopped walking. Ahead lay a purely white domain, so bright it was blinding. According to the data He Yu had seen, that was where Gu Jin was being held.
“That is the leader’s area. Absolutely do not go over there. You are new here and may not understand the leader. She seems easy to talk to, but… in any case, be careful. Do not step onto her pure, flawless domain. The last person who stepped there—I never saw him in the Madelon Pirate Group again.”
The Thirteenth Elder looked at the white domain with a complex expression before leading the two away in another direction. He Yu saw clearly that it was a castle architecture famous in the ancient era, styled entirely in that fashion, even down to the perfectly blooming roses on the walls.
“This is my domain. By the way, the person I mentioned earlier—the one who shares your name, Yu He—this building was designed by her. I personally adore this style.”
They were truly going to tour his turf. He Yu gritted her teeth, suppressing the urge to curse, and followed him toward a domain that rivaled a vampire’s dark forest.
Just as they were about to step into the black-and-red themed domain, Gu Yin’s voice exploded through the communicator. “Leave there now! Gu Nuan! Protect Professor He, get out!”
Before He Yu could react, she felt Gu Nuan pull her arm and swing her backward, completely throwing her out of the range of the black domain.
The Thirteenth Elder seemed just as confused, looking at them blankly. “What is wrong with you?”
“Run! Go straight to the Commander! I have cracked the door code!”
Gu Yin had no time to explain, inputting strings of commands into the computer at top speed. He Yu did not ask questions; once she regained her footing, she and Gu Nuan sprinted toward the pure white domain.
Before they reached the midpoint between the two domains, He Yu felt a gust of wind. Gu Nuan immediately lunged forward to meet the challenge. In the blink of an eye, the two had already exchanged several blows.
Though she did not know why Gu Nuan’s strength had suddenly surged, He Yu had no time to ponder it. She turned and continued sprinting toward the white domain. Rescuing Gu Jin was the only priority.
He Yu even utilized the power of her “Immortal” micro-mecha form, running as if flying. Although the Thirteenth Elder tried his best to shake off Gu Nuan and capture He Yu, he was a fraction of a second too late, and He Yu successfully stepped into the white domain.
She had expected the Elder to pursue her for a while longer, but the moment her foot touched the white domain, the Thirteenth Elder pulled his hand back, retreating in haste.
Seeing how effective it was, Gu Nuan struck the Thirteenth Elder once more before swiftly flashing into the white domain, leaving the previously calm and gentlemanly Thirteenth Elder cursing in a rage.
Now that they had shaken off the Elder, He Yu asked what had just happened. Gu Yin remained silent for a moment before explaining.
“I did not know before, but I just accessed the internal personal records of the pirate ship. The Thirteenth Elder has a bizarre temperament and shocking ideas. Beyond that, he has a penchant for collecting beautiful, exquisite girls, the more delicate the better, and then locking them away in his castle…”
As Gu Yin described the Elder they had just encountered, his voice paused. “Oh no, Nine Colors is also there. She is currently approaching the Commander’s room. You should hide for now; it will not be too late to act once Nine Colors leaves.”
It will not be too late. He Yu’s expression darkened. She looked at Gu Nuan, who was serious but vacant-eyed yet possessed lethal martial arts skills. Estimating the distance to Gu Jin’s room, she grabbed Gu Nuan and rushed forward.
Gu Yin was startled but quickly ordered the others to prepare. He did not know what He Yu was planning, but since she had made her move, they could not lag behind; they had to follow her lead.
By the time He Yu pulled Gu Nuan near Gu Jin’s room, Gu Yin had finally cracked the code. The white wall parted from the middle, and the two charged in!
Nine Colors had intended to sit by the bed again, but before she could reach it, she saw the door she had just closed open once more! Standing at the doorway was someone with empty eyes, a baby face, and an icy demeanor. That person stared at her, then lunged forward in a fierce attack!
Gu Jin was stunned to see Gu Nuan. Since when were the people around her so reliable? Finding her so quickly and coming to save her, she had assumed she would have to save herself this time.
