My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 54
But now was not the time to dwell on this. The urgent priority was to decide how to deal with the Madilon Pirate Group. They could not possibly deploy the entire Rota Star garrison; firstly, it was unrealistic, and secondly, too many people would likely alert the enemy and allow them to slip away.
“Just a few of us will go, taking heavy mechas, and we will bring the Young Commander’s mecha as well. As long as we can make contact with the Young Commander, we won’t need to worry about the rest.” In the end, Gu Ling made the final decision. After all, they could not announce that the Young Commander had been captured by pirates, so they had only secretly reported the incident to the Emperor.
Naturally, the Emperor’s response was brief: “Handle it discreetly.”
Having received the orders, they had to bite the bullet, no matter how difficult the task might be.
“I am going too.” Clutching the ring of the “Immortal,” He Yu knew she might not be able to offer much help, but at the very least, she could provide some technical support that might come in handy. After all, trying to infiltrate the Madilon Pirate Group’s inner sanctum with just four people was essentially a suicide mission.
Knowing He Yu’s capabilities, Gu Jing and Gu Yin had no objections. Gu Ling seemed hesitant but ultimately remained silent. Thus, the five of them quietly piloted a high-end Rota Star warship toward a long-abandoned planet on the edge of the Rota Star system.
“We need to get close to the ‘Death’ ship. Only then will I have the confidence to breach their internal network system and crack it.” Gu Yin, holding a strangely shaped light brain, spoke to Gu Jing, who was at the helm.
Among the four of them, Gu Yin was the strategist and tech expert. Naturally, it was up to him to handle the internal systems of the ‘Death’ ship.
The warship had already activated its stealth mode and entered the atmosphere of the desolate planet. From afar, they could already see the massive silhouette of the ‘Death’ ship. As the base for the number one interstellar pirate group, the scale of the ‘Death’ battleship was terrifying. When fully deployed, it was almost half the size of the desolate planet. Perhaps for the sake of better concealment, it was only showing half its size, but it remained a colossal presence nonetheless.
Behind a boulder on the desolate planet, the stealthed warship parked cautiously. Looking at the ‘Death’ ship, which was now close enough, everyone grew nervous.
“Connection established.” Gu Yin’s voice sounded relieved. “In a moment, I will upload your disguised identities into the system. Put on your miniature displays; once inside, you will automatically see the personnel distribution and real-time movements on the entire warship. I will check on the Young Commander’s status first before deciding on the tactical plan.”
The group relaxed slightly. So far, things were progressing smoothly, and the situation seemed manageable.
Following Gu Yin’s complex series of commands, images of Gu Jin’s room gradually appeared on the screen. Thank goodness, Nine Colors had not isolated the monitoring for Gu Jin’s room but had integrated it with the rest of the ship, saving them precious time.
On the screen, Gu Jin, having slept too much and lacking food, had bundled her quilt into a pile. She was leaning against it with her legs bent and one crossed over the other, her fingers interlaced over her stomach. Her head bobbed slightly as she seemed lost in thought, looking as though she were about to drift off to sleep.
The group, who had been terrified all day, was stunned: “…” We are not saving her! Let us go home!
Going home was not an option. Although Gu Jin’s leisurely demeanor was slightly infuriating, they still needed to formulate a rescue plan.
“There are five of us. Gu Nuan and Professor He have the lowest combat capability. We three will split up to hit several key locations on the ‘Death’ ship. Gu Nuan and Professor He will take the Young Commander’s mecha to get close to her room. If you encounter trouble, signal us; we will create a distraction, and you can enter during the chaos. Before that, Gu Yin needs to head to the central control hub to see if he can crack the password to the Young Commander’s room.”
Gu Jing quickly divided the tasks, Gu Nuan prepared the mecha ring, and the group readied themselves.
Participating in such a mission for the first time, He Yu felt anxious. She knew she had been given the simplest task, but nervousness was inevitable.
“If the mission fails, prioritize your own safety and evacuate immediately, transmitting directly back to our warship. Do not linger under any circumstances. Do you understand?”
Gu Ling emphasized this one last time, specifically instructing He Yu. In truth, she hadn’t been in favor of He Yu participating, but since He Yu had located the pirate ship and Gu Jing had agreed, there was little she could say.
Once confirmed, the group quietly entered the ‘Death’ ship through the invisible side door Gu Yin had identified. After passing the security checks, He Yu and Gu Nuan headed straight for Gu Jin’s room, Gu Yin went to the central control room, Gu Jing went to the weapons storage, and Gu Ling patrolled near the central activity area.
He Yu squeezed her fingers, feeling the sweat in her palms. Whenever someone passed them, she could not help but feel tense.
“Don’t be nervous,” Gu Nuan’s voice rang in her mind through the communicator. “We just need to deliver the mecha to the Young Commander, and the mission is complete.”
He Yu knew that, but walking through the enemy’s lair made it difficult for her, a mecha scientist, to stay calm. Moreover, Gu Nuan’s voice sounded like it was trembling; how was that not nervous?
Taking a deep breath, He Yu nodded and continued forward.
The ‘Death’ ship was the main base of the Madilon Pirate Group. No matter how large its scale, it was still a pirate ship. The atmosphere was completely different from the Rota Star barracks; it was disorganized and undisciplined. Passing by certain rooms, one could even hear gambling and rowdy shouting inside.
The battleship had six levels. Their targets were primarily in the important areas on the fifth and sixth levels, and Gu Jin was held in the center of the sixth. The authority required to get near there was extremely high, which explained why the identities Gu Yin had set for them were quite high-ranking.
Walking through the lower deck crew area, the occasional crew member would step aside and lower their heads, respectfully letting them pass first.
After some psychological preparation, He Yu felt much more relaxed, but Gu Nuan beside her grew anxious, constantly murmuring into the communicator.
“They seem to be looking at us with suspicion. Did Gu Yin set our status too high? God, I am so nervous!”
He Yu: “…”
Well, listening to Gu Nuan’s increasingly anxious rambling, by the time they reached the second level, He Yu was able to face the situation calmly. Gu Yin, having also heard the rambling and dodging a pirate with a higher rank than him, replied, “I didn’t set your identities too high; it is just enough to let you reach the fifth floor. Remember, people will give way to you, but if you see pirates with higher ranks, you must yield to them. If they have more skulls on their shoulders than you, their rank is higher.”
No sooner had He Yu acknowledged this than she saw someone approaching with ten small skulls on their shoulders. She quickly pulled Gu Nuan aside and bowed her head to let them pass.
After that person had passed, Gu Nuan practically clutched her chest and started chanting prayers. “This is too thrilling. This is my first time on a mission like this. Thanks just now, Professor He; your reaction was so fast. I had not even finished counting the skulls on his shoulder.”
Hearing the voice in the communicator, He Yu was confused. Was Gu Nuan not one of the four guards’ captains? How could this be her first mission?
However, the three on the other end either did not hear or were too busy to respond. He Yu was momentarily puzzled but continued on.
The pirate ship was colossal; if they just walked, they might not reach their destination for months. Inside the ‘Death’ ship, there were various transport elevators that could take them where they needed to go, though they were a bit slow.
Finding the nearest elevator with Gu Nuan, He Yu waited at the door. Every time they went up a floor, they had to pass an identity verification to confirm they were authorized.
With a ding, the elevator stopped in front of them. As the doors opened, they saw someone already inside.
He Yu looked at the person’s shoulders, which bore only two skulls—one large and one small. Her eyelids twitched, and she quickly whispered to Gu Yin, “What rank is someone with one large and one small skull on their shoulder? The big one looks like it is made of purple crystal.”
“Damn it!” Gu Yin, who usually maintained a refined and suave image, could not help but swear. “You have hit the jackpot! You ran into one of the thirteen Elders of the Madilon Pirate Group right away! Bow your head, say ‘Greetings, Elder,’ and wait for the next elevator.”
Gu Nuan was also startled, and she quickly followed suit along with He Yu.
“Hmm.” The tall man in an archaic medieval-style formal suit uttered a sound from his nose. He adjusted his cuffs and ordered without much emotion, “Get in.”
“Do as he says.” He Yu was about to refuse, but Gu Yin’s voice came through the communicator.
After a brief silence, He Yu led Gu Nuan in, thanked the man, and stood in the corner of the elevator, keeping her head low and remaining silent.
The elevator doors closed slowly. In the small, enclosed space, the three of them could hear each other’s breathing. He Yu tried to minimize her presence, lowering her gaze to the corner. Who knew what this ‘Elder’ was thinking?
Unfortunately, her worst fears came true. In the oppressive space, He Yu clearly felt that person’s gaze land on top of her head. “I have not seen you two before.”
He Yu: “!!!”
He Yu’s heart skipped a beat. Gu Yin, who was listening on the other end, obviously heard it too. While checking his light brain, he provided remote guidance through the communicator, “Tell him you two were stationed at the second base and were just transferred here two days ago.”
He Yu answered accordingly, keeping her head lowered respectfully.
“What are your names?” He did not seem to be finished.
“Yu He.” This was the fake name Gu Yin had input for her in the Madilon Pirate Group’s database.
“Hmm, a person I knew used to be called Yu He, too. What a coincidence.” The man’s voice carried a hint of amusement. It terrified He Yu, could it be? Had she been exposed so quickly?
Receiving no answer from He Yu, the man waited a moment before taking a step toward her. “Look up.”
Hiss! Taking a sharp breath, their nerves tightened to the breaking point. Were they about to die before achieving success?
