My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 41
The side opposite clearly heard Gu Ling’s words. “Xiao Yuqi” gave a triumphant smile. “Gu Jin, this time you are truly finished!”
Releasing He Yu’s hand, Gu Jin gave her a reassuring look. “Everything will be fine. Trust me. He Yi, Gu Ling, take care of her.”
He Yu opened her mouth as if to speak but hesitated. Gu Ling stepped forward instead. “Young Marshal, the Palace is currently empty. What about His Majesty’s safety? I saw several private militias heading in that direction.”
“Do not worry about me; I can take care of myself. His Majesty’s safety is more important,” He Yu added. She could not help but wonder why the Imperial Family had prepared such a small escort in the first place.
“Just take care of He Yu. As for the Emperor, he has a tough life; do not bother with him.” Gu Jin spoke of her own brother with such total indifference she might as well have said, “If he dies, I will just succeed the throne.”
After settling He Yu, Gu Jin stepped forward. With Gu Ling and He Yi guarding He Yu, she could finally fight without restraint.
“Such grand talk, Gu Jin. You remembered to protect your new flame, but are you just going to leave your old love here to rot?” The Third Prince of the Zerg, currently in the guise of “Xiao Xiaoyu,” looked at Tao Ran standing in the middle and sneered, waiting to watch Gu Jin’s drama unfold.
Unfortunately, he still did not understand Gu Jin at all. In response to the provocation, Gu Jin picked up a gun from the side. “I did not notice until you mentioned it. Is this not your mother? You unfilial descendant; you do not even want your own mother?”
As Gu Jin aimed her gun directly at Tao Ran, even He Yu’s eyelids twitched. This level of ruthlessness was truly extreme.
“The entire Tao family has defected. Do you think I still believe your nonsense?” The gun in her hand began to charge. Without a hint of hesitation, Gu Jin fired directly at Tao Ran!
In the nick of time, “Xiao Yuqi” stepped forward, using a Zerg shield to block the attack. He glared at Gu Jin with hatred. “You actually dared to fire!”
“What is there to be afraid of? She is your wife; what does she have to do with me?” Gu Jin fired three shots in rapid succession, showing no mercy. “Xiao Yuqi” shielded Tao Ran as they retreated. Tao Ran, who had been stunned by the sudden turn of events, finally snapped out of it, staring at Gu Jin in terror. She had never imagined that Gu Jin would one day shoot at her so decisively.
“Sister Gu Jin! How could you?”
Seeing Tao Ran’s questioning, heartbroken gaze, the slight pity He Yu had felt earlier vanished instantly. She watched Gu Jin’s reaction coldly.
Seeing that she could not hit Tao Ran, Gu Jin retracted her gun. “The moment you drugged us, I became capable of anything. Stop pretending; I am not buying it.”
“I did not, I do not, I just,” Tao Ran stammered, looking at Gu Jin desperately, wanting to explain. But Gu Jin did not want to hear it.
“Are we fighting or not? It is almost dark. Let us finish this so I can go home for a midnight snack. Why all the talk?”
The moment Gu Jin finished speaking, “Xiao Yuqi” pushed Tao Ran aside and waved a hand. “Attack!”
On Gu Jin’s side, no orders were needed. Simultaneously and in perfect unison, they met the enemy’s charge!
Once the real fighting began, He Yu realized why Gu Jin was so confident. Although their numbers were significantly smaller, the quality of each individual was enough to crush ten of the enemy! It truly was a matter of quality over quantity.
Gu Jin led the charge. In an era where offense and defense had reached their technological peaks, ancient close-quarters combat had surprisingly become the main theme of the Interstellar age.
To minimize losses on her side, Gu Jin directly engaged the two Zerg brothers. The combat skills of “Xiao Yuqi” and “Xiao Xiaoyu” were no joke; the physical advantages of high-ranking Zerg completely overwhelmed most humans. Ordinary people facing them would essentially be seeking death.
Intercepting their combined attacks, Gu Jin managed to fight two on one while still keeping an eye on He Yu and clearing out waves of nearby rebels. She appeared completely at ease.
As for He Yu, although she lacked formal combat experience, she was an elite student of Clinie Academy. Combined with her rigorous training, she might struggle against the likes of Gu Jin, Gu Ling, or He Yi, but dealing with ordinary rebels, especially with Immortal’s assistance, was well within her capability.
Meanwhile, Gu Ling, He Yi, and the Royal Guard were essentially delivering a one-sided beatdown. They fought with such intensity that the opposition could barely breathe. He Yu finally breathed a sigh of relief and focused on her own fight.
Seeing that Gu Jin’s victory was only a matter of time, the Xiao family began to panic. They had assumed that since the Royal Guard was small and the Capital Star lacked a large standing reserve, it would be an easy win. They had not expected every single guard to be a top-tier elite.
“Xiao Yuqi” and “Xiao Xiaoyu” exchanged a look and zeroed in on He Yu. Alarm bells rang in Gu Jin’s mind; she focused all her attention on the pair.
Just as Gu Jin thought they were about to ambush He Yu, her nose caught two unfamiliar scents. Suddenly, the air was flooded with various odors!
Gu Jin realized instantly that the enemy was releasing pheromones.
On human battlefields, pheromones were often used to crush the enemy’s morale. Between Alphas, pheromones would not entwine like they did with an Alpha and an Omega; instead, they would collide. The stronger pheromone would suppress the weaker one as a show of dominance.
Because Gu Jin always felt this was too much like wild beasts using scent to attract mates while threatening rivals, she never used this method herself.
Sure enough, the moment the Xiao family showed their hand, the Royal Guard refused to be outdone. Even more powerful pheromones surged out like predatory beasts released from their cages!
Seeing the wicked grins on the Zerg brothers, Gu Jin suddenly remembered that they knew the effects of the chemical agent.
She kicked both of them back and spun around. As expected, He Yu’s movements had become unstable. Her opponent seized the opportunity, and a quantum blade was about to strike her!
In a blur, Gu Jin appeared in front of He Yu. She kicked the attacker into the Xiao family ruins and pulled He Yu into her arms!
This sudden shift caught Gu Jin’s team off guard, nearly giving the enemy an opening. What was the Young Marshal doing?
The fresh scent of green grass flooded He Yu’s nose, finally soothing her throbbing head. Remembering their current situation, she tried to push Gu Jin away. “Do not worry about me! Go!”
Seeing the Zerg brothers standing up again, He Yu’s voice was urgent. She looked up, only to meet Gu Jin’s dark, heavy gaze. She had never seen Gu Jin look so terrifying!
Almost instantly, a massive explosion of fresh, natural grass scent erupted! Like a summer torrential rain, it swept across the field with absolute dominance, suppressing all other pheromones. It was like a king descending, utterly indisputable!
Only then did He Yu understand what “the scent of grass after rain” truly meant.
Releasing He Yu, Gu Jin turned back toward the Zerg brothers. This time, her relaxed, teasing-the-birds attitude was gone. Every move was lethal and merciless.
Under the fierce assault, the Zerg brothers were quickly overwhelmed. They were forced back step by step, and with every strike Gu Jin landed, deep, bone-chilling wounds appeared on their bodies.
With Gu Jin’s pheromones providing absolute suppression, the battle turned into a rout. The Royal Guard fought with increasing fervor, leaving the opposition no chance of survival.
When only a few broken remnants of the enemy were left, Gu Jin finally stayed her hand. She watched them flee in disgrace but did not pursue.
“Young Marshal, why are we not chasing them?” He Yi asked anxiously. This was a perfect opportunity to wipe them out!
“Their main force is up ahead. Do you want to go there and die?” Gu Jin produced a clean white handkerchief from nowhere and wiped a speck of blood from He Yu’s cheek. “How does it feel to kill?”
“It is no different from a simulation.” He Yu dodged Gu Jin’s hand slightly, looking her straight in the eye and refusing to look at the carnage around them.
Sensing He Yu’s avoidance and fear, Gu Jin did not call her out. She knew that if she dared to mock He Yu now, it would be her lying on the ground next.
Instead, Gu Jin pressed the hiding He Yu into her chest and snapped her fingers. In the blink of an eye, the corpses covering the ground vanished, and even the bloodstains disappeared. She even thoughtfully manifested a faucet over each Royal Guard’s head, washing the blood from their bodies.
The soaked Royal Guard members exchanged looks, flaring their nostrils as they glared at their Young Marshal in annoyance. Single dogs have no human rights!
Gu Ling, having escaped the fate of being drenched, stood by with a complex expression as she watched the two embracing. She took over Gu Jin’s command. “Report our losses!”
“Report! Zero fatalities, one light injury!”
Gu Jin stopped the faucets and looked up at the crowd. “Who is lightly injured?”
“Report! It is me!”
A soldier stepped forward. Gu Jin looked him over. “How were you injured?”
“Report, Young Marshal! I was too excited after winning, and some bastard punched me in the face! He broke my nose!”
The crowd was speechless.
“Hahaha!” The serious atmosphere broke instantly. A roar of laughter erupted, and even Gu Jin could not help but join in.
He Yu laughed until tears nearly came, leaning into Gu Jin’s chest with her shoulders shaking.
Looking down at the woman in her arms, Gu Jin whispered in He Yu’s ear, “How do you feel?”
Realizing a moment too late what she was doing, He Yu’s face turned bright red. But seeing the mirth in Gu Jin’s eyes, she bit the bullet and whispered back defiantly, “Your figure is not that great.”
“Holy!” Gu Jin froze, then clutched He Yu and nearly doubled over laughing. The surrounding guards, who had finally stopped laughing, were bewildered. Was it really that funny?
Under everyone’s gaze, He Yu wished she could sink into the ground. Her face was flushed as she slapped Gu Jin’s shoulder irritably. “Let go of me!”
Just then, a massive explosion sounded from the direction of the Palace. Gu Ling looked at Gu Jin. “Young Marshal, there is movement at the Palace. His Majesty is still inside!”
Gu Jin glanced toward the Palace indifferently, struggling to control her expression. “Return to the Palace to protect the Emperor!”
The crowd immediately turned serious, falling into formation to head for the Palace. Gu Jin also managed to put on a stern face, but before they ran off, she leaned down close to He Yu’s ear. “I know. Your figure is the best.”
He Yu was stunned.
Following Gu Jin with gritted teeth, He Yu felt certain her expression must be hideous right now.
At the outer perimeter of the Palace, Gu Jin signaled the group to stop. As expected, the four-family allied force had completely surrounded the Palace. Their numbers and quality were far beyond the battle they had just fought.
Even the Royal Guards, who usually joked around with Gu Jin, grew solemn. Yet Gu Jin still appeared unbothered. He Yu began to wonder if Gu Jin was planning to take the throne early.
“Young Marshal, there are fewer than ten people inside the Palace. His Majesty’s situation is extremely dangerous. You need to make a decision,” Gu Ling said, exhausted by her boss’s increasing nonchalance.
Extremely dangerous? Gu Jin, who knew Gu Ting had countless trump cards and enough life-saving gadgets to wrap around the galaxy three times, did not think he was in any danger at all. That guy valued his life more than anyone; given this small scene, he probably had not even finished his morning nap.
If these people dared to rush in, it would definitely be them who died, not that old fox Gu Ting. As the person who knew her brother best, Gu Jin looked at the worried faces around her and had to use every ounce of her willpower to keep from cursing Gu Ting out loud.
