My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 40
The group stood at the entrance, eyes glued to the screen showing Gu Jin’s progress in her “wall-demolishing” career.
At the gates of the Xiao residence, Gu Jin looked at the crumbling barrier and smiled faintly. She rolled her numbing wrists, her eyes sharpening as she threw one final punch directly into the densest cluster of cracks.
With a deafening thud, the entire area vibrated. In an instant, the Xiao family structure shattered into a field of debris!
Crystalline fragments scattered under the scorching sun, reflecting a spectrum of colors. Standing in the center of the wreckage, the smile on Gu Jin’s lips had not yet faded. Her half-closed eyes gave her an air of casual arrogance. With her gloved palm facing upward and slightly open, she looked incomparably elegant and noble, as if the surrounding radiance existed solely for her.
Watching this on the screen, He Yu’s eyes glazed over. It felt as if time had stopped, turning the scene before her into an eternal image.
“Did you save it? Did you save it?!” He Yi and several other soldiers tugged at the clothes of the operator nearby. “Holy cow! Young Marshal Gu is way too cool! This scene must be saved!”
“I saved it, I saved it! High definition, professional quality—don’t worry. My goodness, how can the Young Marshal look that good?”
The chatter in her ears snapped He Yu back to reality. On the screen, Gu Jin was already shaking out her hands, preparing to make arrests. The sound of her high-topped military boots clicking against the ground was exceptionally clear.
“Stop them!” Never expecting Gu Jin’s combat power to be this monstrous, the Xiao family panicked. Their private guards surged forward to face Gu Jin’s Royal Guard.
Gu Jin showed no intention of dealing with these small fries herself. She simply stood to the side, eyes downcast, seemingly lost in thought.
“Young Marshal, your subordinate is late.” A woman in a black tight-fitting suit appeared by Gu Jin’s side. He Yu recognized her immediately—it was the guard who had sparred with her before, whose strength was far superior to her own.
“Oh my God, it is Colonel Gu Ling!” As a loyal fanboy, He Yi knew Gu Jin’s inner circle by heart. The moment the woman entered the frame, he recognized her. “I never expected Colonel Gu Ling to follow the Young Marshal to the Capital Star.”
He Yu glanced at her brother. A Colonel? That was one rank lower than her brother. Was there something special about her? “Is she someone famous?” He Yu asked, patting He Yi’s shoulder.
“Sis, you don’t know? There are several legendary figures by the Young Marshal’s side, and Colonel Gu Ling is one of them. She is a Beta with an A-rank physique, but her explosive power can rival an S-rank Alpha. In pure combat skill, she is second only to the Young Marshal herself. She is a military goddess and has served the Young Marshal for seven or eight years.”
He Yi did not even turn his head, continuing to worship the screen. “If I can see all the great deities of the Gu family in one frame today, I can die happy.”
Just as He Yu was about to tell He Yi to get a grip, she noticed the surrounding soldiers wearing the exact same expression. She was utterly speechless.
Gu Jin nodded to Gu Ling. “You are just in time. Go and check the status of the Xiao family’s private guards at all locations. Activate the Capital Star defense alarm and be on guard for a potential mutiny.”
“Yes, Young Marshal. However, the palace is currently empty. Should we send someone back to protect His Majesty?” Gu Ling asked, remembering that they had pulled the entire Royal Guard out for this.
“Do not worry about it. The palace will be fine. Go.” Gu Jin stifled a subtle yawn. The drug Gu Ting had given her that morning still had some lingering effects; she was genuinely feeling a bit sleepy.
As Gu Ling left, Gu Jin looked up toward the direction of the He residence. He Yu should be home by now, right?
“Sis! Sis! Is the Young Marshal looking at our house?” Noticing Gu Jin’s gaze, He Yi compared the directions. This street was sparsely populated with only high-walled estates. Based on her line of sight, she was definitely looking at their home.
“Shut up!” He Yu slapped the back of He Yi’s head, her ears turning hot.
“Hahaha, they are here!” Elder Xiao laughed toward the sky as he received a signal from somewhere within the protection of his guards.
Gu Jin retracted her gaze from the He residence and steadily blocked a photon sword swinging at her back. When she saw the face of her attacker, she raised an eyebrow. “Xiao Yuqi? No, that is not right…”
Parrying the attack, Gu Jin narrowed her eyes. “You are not Xiao Yuqi.”
Her tone was certain, not a question. This caught the attacker by surprise. He stopped his assault and stood opposite her. “If I am not him, then who am I?”
“Xiao Yuqi is not exactly a weakling—he is slightly stronger than Wen Ju—but that strike just now? Ten Xiao Yuqis couldn’t have pulled that off.” Gu Jin clapped her hands. Despite her words, she showed no sign of alarm. “Who are you?”
The group watching the live broadcast was equally confused. Xiao Yuqi is not Xiao Yuqi? Then who was he? They looked at each other, only He Yu remaining thoughtful in the back.
“The Young Marshal has quite the eye!” The man laughed. Seeing the swarms of private guards arriving, he stopped hiding. “We are old rivals, Gu Jin!”
In an instant, the familiar face of Xiao Yuqi blurred and transformed into a total stranger. He had green hair, green eyes, and a sinister scar running from his forehead to his cheekbone. He grinned with blood-red lips. “Do you remember me now?”
“And me!” A child’s voice rang out. Gu Jin crossed her arms and watched as Xiao Xiaoyu ran over on his short legs. In the chaos, Tao Ran watched this scene and nearly fainted, but no one paid her any mind.
As he neared Gu Jin, Xiao Xiaoyu’s body suddenly surged. In the blink of an eye, the three-year-old child transformed into a man with green hair and green eyes. He had a baby face, but it carried the same malicious smile as “Xiao Yuqi.”
Gu Jin scratched her head, still unbothered. “Still haunting me? Did I not beat you enough last time?”
He Yu, meanwhile, was stunned. She shoved the shocked He Yi. “Who are they?”
“The first and third princes of the third-largest Zerg nest! They died at the hands of the Young Marshal eight years ago! How… how are they alive?!” He Yi’s voice was trembling with shock. He Yu realized the gravity of the situation. If Xiao Yuqi was actually a Zerg prince, what had they been doing on the Capital Star all these years?
Gu Jin wanted to know the answer as well, but now was not the time for questions. She raised a hand, and the Royal Guard immediately closed ranks around her. Opposite them, even more Xiao family guards appeared.
The battle lines were redrawn. The disparity was stark; Gu Jin had only a handful of people, while the enemy outnumbered them dozens of times over!
Seeing this, He Yu’s palms were sweating. She gripped He Yi’s shoulder. “Let’s go help Gu Jin.”
He Yi finally snapped out of it and stood up with the others. “Alright! We will go help the Young Marshal. But Sis, you stay here. The battlefield is dangerous; we don’t want to be distracted by your safety.”
“You look down on me?” He Yu kicked He Yi and let out a cold snort. She squeezed a golden ring with black patterns in her hand. She had found this on her desk after Gu Jin left last time. With its familiar colors, she recognized it instantly: it was “Immortal.”
He Yu hadn’t understood Gu Jin’s intention at first, but now she did. Gu Jin had anticipated this and given her a protective charm in advance.
A wave of warmth flowed through her heart. He Yu connected to her optical computer, and her body was instantly covered in a golden light. Without an Alpha to bear the pressure, an Omega triggering “Immortal” alone could not activate the full form she had seen before. However, even this micro-version was enough!
Shocked by the mecha covering He Yu, He Yi stammered, “Sis… where did you get that? Omegas can’t drive mechas! Take it off!”
“But I can. Stop talking and let’s go!”
He Yu impatiently pushed He Yi. Without further explanation, she led the squad of fewer than ten people out, leaving the other soldiers staring in shock.
On the other side, Gu Jin and the Zerg brothers were still in a standoff. Even though Gu Jin was heavily outnumbered, she was not intimidated, and the enemy did not dare to move rashly.
Despite being a potential battlefield, it was as quiet as a grave. The green-haired brothers watched Gu Jin warily. Between the two sides, Tao Ran sat on the ground in a daze, unable to accept that her husband and son were both Zerg.
Whether by coincidence or intent, Gu Jin’s back was facing the He residence. Being so close, He Yu and her team soon reached the Royal Guard.
Hearing footsteps, Gu Jin turned back casually and met He Yu’s eyes. The worry and urgency in He Yu’s gaze were unmistakable. Inside the golden light of her mecha, her cold features looked exceptionally vivid.
Gu Jin’s brow furrowed and then relaxed. She turned around completely and took He Yu’s hand as she approached. The cold, aloof expression she had held moments ago dissolved into warmth. “Did you come to be my cheerleader?”
“Cheerleader my foot!” He Yu shook off Gu Jin’s hand, though her anxiety lessened. “I came to collect your body!”
“Hmm, it seems you have already accepted your status as the Young Marshal’s wife. Thinking about collecting my body? How virtuous.” Gu Jin ignored the biting words, her mood significantly improved, though she couldn’t help but be flippant.
“Shut up!” He Yu glared at her. What time is it? The enemy army is right there, and you still have the heart to say such nonsense!
“No,” Gu Jin said, taking He Yu’s hand again. She raised her other hand. Just as the enemy thought she was about to attack, she turned to her own ranks. “Greet the Madam.”
“Greetings, Madam!”
He Yu: “…”
The Xiao guards: “…”
He Yi: “!!!”
“Stop messing around! The gap between us is so large, and you still have the heart to joke!” Seeing Gu Jin’s antics, He Yu felt she shouldn’t have worried. Wouldn’t the world be quieter if she just died here?
“Relax. I will keep you safe.” With those words, He Yu felt her heart settle. She bit her lip and nodded; she believed her.
Just as the enemy was about to snap from the display of affection, a black shadow rushed toward Gu Jin’s ranks at extreme speed. He Yu was startled and about to warn her, but she was already pulled into Gu Jin’s embrace while the shadow stopped steadily beside them.
It was Colonel Gu Ling. Gu Jin wasn’t completely unprepared; Gu Ling must have gone to look for reinforcements. He Yu felt even more at ease.
“Young Marshal, the Tao, Duan, and Liu families have joined forces with the Xiao family. Their private guards are converging here. The Capital Star reserve army is doing its best to stop them, but the numbers exceed our estimates. This is going to be difficult.”
Gu Ling had not brought reinforcements; she had brought even worse news. He Yu felt Gu Jin’s grip on her hand tighten slightly. Her heart sank. It seemed the situation had exceeded even Gu Jin’s expectations.
