My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 35
Looking at the disbelief in He Yu’s eyes, Gu Jin felt a rush of complex emotions. The old butler’s words were still ringing in her ears. It turned out that He Yu only disliked her on the surface. In reality, she had already made her stance clear to her family, even disregarding Elder He’s objections to be with her.
Since that was the case, Gu Jin looked at the flustered He Yu and thought that she could reluctantly return the affection. After all, it was He Yu who insisted on marrying her first; it was not as if Gu Jin had fallen first.
However, Gu Jin soon had no time for idle thoughts. Seeing Gu Jin seemed to make He Yu even more uncomfortable. She knit her brows and bit her lip, appearing quite pitiful.
Gu Jin stepped forward and sat on the edge of the bed. She pulled He Yu, who was facing away from her, into a half-embrace. Gently stroking He Yu’s arm, she coaxed her in a soft voice, “I am here. Everything is fine. Do you still feel unwell anywhere?”
He Yu naturally had no idea what Gu Jin was thinking. She could not understand this uncharacteristic tenderness. More importantly, she was confused as to why Gu Jin was here at all. Was she not supposed to be lying in the Imperial Palace with a worsening condition?
“Why are you here? Your injuries…” As soon as she spoke, He Yu realized her usually cold voice had turned soft and weak. It sounded as if she were acting spoiled toward Gu Jin.
She stopped mid-sentence, but Gu Jin could not see her shock. Gu Jin only heard the tone that was identical to when they had shared an intimate moment before. Her heart melted instantly. Indeed, He Yu truly loves me, does she not?
“My injuries are fine. Do not worry,” Gu Jin comforted her, patting her shoulder. She sat up slightly and leaned over to look at He Yu. “Now that I am here, you do not need to suppress yourself anymore. The more you suppress it now, the worse the rebound will be later. Be good and relax a little.”
He Yu was utterly confused. She looked at Gu Jin as if the woman were possessed. Is this person an impostor?
She reached out and pinched Gu Jin’s cheek, feeling uncertain. “Gu Jin, are you sure you are actually Gu Jin?”
“Are you so happy that you have become silly? If I am not Gu Jin, is there a second Gu Jin in this world?” Gu Jin allowed He Yu’s cool fingertips to pinch her face. She wrapped her arms around He Yu, looking at her with an indulgent gaze.
He Yu grew increasingly bewildered. What does she mean, “happy until silly”? It must be that my pheromones have overwhelmed her brain!
Regardless of whether Gu Jin was acting normally, He Yu pushed her hands away and sat up. Thanks to Gu Jin’s pheromones, she was feeling much better, and her mind was clear. She decided to use this opportunity to discuss their future heat cycles; they could not remain tied together forever.
“Gu Jin, I want to…”
“You are pregnant right now, so there is no other way. I will help you manage it with my pheromones. Just endure it and be patient,” Gu Jin interrupted naturally.
He Yu felt that something was very wrong. A second later, she realized this person had completely misinterpreted her meaning. Then, a more pressing question arose. “How did you find out about the child?”
“Well,” Gu Jin blinked, “I found out when I was checking the chemicals in your glands last time. I know you are strong-willed, but you should not have hidden something like this from me.”
He Yu pushed Gu Jin away and stood on the floor barefoot. “What does the child have to do with you? Gu Jin, perhaps we need to have a serious talk.”
Suddenly, a chair appeared behind He Yu. Before Gu Jin could get off the bed, she felt her wrists and ankles tighten. She realized she had been locked onto the bed by He Yu’s room controls.
Gu Jin realized for the first time how unreliable the “controllable room” invention was. On one’s own property, the owner was essentially a god, unless one had the power to break through the ultra-composite molecular structure of the building. With her S-plus rank constitution, Gu Jin could do it, but she did not want to cause a public scene. She had no choice but to surrender.
He Yu sat in the chair, looking slightly triumphant at the bound Gu Jin. Gu Jin felt as though she were looking at the cat Gu Ting kept; cold on the surface, but secretly proud of small victories.
Such a version of He Yu made Gu Jin want to keep her tucked away in her own world, but she knew that such impulses were dangerous.
He Yu rested her hands on the armrests. She stopped suppressing her pheromones, knowing that long-term suppression would only lead to worse side effects. She decided to relax.
“Gu Jin, we need to discuss this.”
In the atmosphere heavy with pheromones, He Yu looked cold and distant. If not for her flushed cheeks and the corners of her eyes, Gu Jin would not have believed the air was thick with the scent of an Omega in heat.
Giving up the struggle, Gu Jin leaned back into a more comfortable position. “Discuss what? Things before the bed, on the bed, or after the bed?”
He Yu glared at her. “Is there anything in your brain besides that?”
Gu Jin suppressed a smile and tried to look serious. “That depends on who I am with.”
He Yu frowned in confusion. “What?”
“With others, it is everything except the bed. With you, it is only that.”
He Yu was speechless. She realized that communicating with Gu Jin was impossible; the best option was to throw her into a mass grave. She leaned over and grabbed Gu Jin’s collar. “I am warning you: clear your mind. If you talk nonsense again, I will open your skull and clear it for you!”
Looking at the serious threat, Gu Jin found it hard to stay solemn. Because of what the butler had said, even an angry He Yu looked adorable to her. She must just be shy and thin-skinned, Gu Jin thought.
She nodded obediently. “Fine, I will clear it.”
Seeing her cooperation, He Yu sat on the edge of the bed and began a conversation that felt as if they were in two different worlds.
“Regarding the failure of suppressants during heat,” He Yu said seriously, “I know of a device that can store pheromones. We can exchange some of our pheromones so that we do not need to meet in person. What do you think?”
Gu Jin’s eyes filled with understanding. Oh, so she wants to treasure my pheromones. Why must she be so indirect? Why not just say it?
“Fine. You can have as much as you want,” Gu Jin agreed readily.
He Yu felt his response was odd, but she could not guess the depth of his misunderstanding. She moved to the next topic. She wanted to secure custody of the child. “Regarding the child, it is mine, and I can raise it myself. I want to know your thoughts, but let me be clear: I will not hand the child over to the Royal Family.”
Gu Jin’s mind raced. Is she hinting that since we have a child, it is time to get married? This is moving fast, but as an Alpha, I should not be hesitant.
“I will listen to you,” Gu Jin smiled meaningfully. The wedding time, the location, the guests—I will follow your lead.
He Yu sighed in relief. She had not expected Gu Jin to be so easygoing. “Are you certain? If you have a suggestion that benefits both sides, I am willing to consider it.”
“I have no objections. These matters should be decided by the Omega. If you need anything from me, just ask. It is my duty.” Gu Jin figured organizing a wedding would be exhausting, so she would take over the heavy lifting once He Yu set the requirements.
He Yu was satisfied. She released the restraints on Gu Jin. “Even though you are acting strange today, you are much more tolerable than usual.”
Flexing her wrists, Gu Jin nodded. “Do you think I am better now, or as I was before?”
“Neither is great, but you are less annoying now.” He Yu gave what was, for her, a compliment.
In Gu Jin’s eyes, He Yu’s ears were red from shyness, her eyes were darting away out of embarrassment, and her voice was soft with affection.
“Very well, I will try my best to stay this way,” Gu Jin said, sitting up. “Is there anything else?”
He Yu pulled her hair aside to reveal the back of her neck. “Fix this damned heat, and then disappear.”
It was a frustrating reality: one could not complete a full AO union during pregnancy, but the heat cycles did not vanish; they often became more intense. Only a temporary marking from an Alpha could provide relief.
Gu Jin felt a sudden sense of being used and discarded, but she brushed it off. She moved closer and looked at the reddened skin on He Yu’s neck where a faint crescent mark remained from her previous bite.
Gu Jin felt a bit embarrassed. She gently touched the mark. He Yu flinched. “What are you doing?”
“It looks beautiful.” Gu Jin placed her hand on He Yu’s shoulder. Her white hair mingled with He Yu’s black hair in a harmonious contrast.
She lowered her head and kissed the reddened skin. A tingling sensation spread through He Yu’s body. He Yu clenched her fingers, trying to ignore the feeling. Suddenly, Gu Jin took her hand, interlacing their fingers. She wrapped her other arm around He Yu’s waist, pulling her into a tight embrace.
He Yu moved uncomfortably but bit her lip and gripped Gu Jin’s hand. As a sharp sting came from her neck, she could not help but let out a soft moan. “Are you finished yet?”
Gu Jin licked the small wound and leaned her head on He Yu’s shoulder, suppressing her own desire. “I am finished. But He Yu, if we do this a few more times, I think I will be the one who is exhausted.”
Gu Jin’s warm breath against her face made He Yu flush even deeper. She turned her head away. “It is your own weakness. If losing a little pheromone exhausts you, you are useless.”
Gu Jin was left speechless. My dear, do you truly not understand the physical toll this takes on an Alpha?
