My Omega Rival in Love [Interstellar] - Chapter 34
“Mr. Carlo.”
He Yu turned around. Just as she was about to speak, she saw Mr. Carlo’s face darken. He looked down at her with a somber expression that startled her. By reflex, she took a step back, but he grabbed her wrist.
“What are you doing?” Her face also darkened. He Yu looked at the hand gripping her wrist and struggled to pull away, but she could not break free.
Realizing her loss of composure, Gu Jin frowned and released He Yu’s hand. “Does Miss He already belong to someone?”
“That is none of your business, Mr. Carlo.” He Yu looked at Gu Jin guardedly, fearing he might perform another inexplicable action.
“None of my business,” Gu Jin repeated, nodding. Very well. Carrying her child yet bearing someone else’s permanent marking. Although Gu Jin’s reason told her that her current identity was wrong, it could not stop her emotions from churning.
Taking a step forward, Gu Jin pressed closer to He Yu. “I heard that Miss He and the eldest son of the Wen family, Wen Zhixin, are childhood sweethearts with deep feelings. I heard Wen Zhixin even visited Grandfather He to wait for a marriage alliance. It seems I, Carlo, have arrived too late?”
Facing this mysterious and powerful Alpha, He Yu could feel the innate submission an Omega feels toward an Alpha within her body. This made her exceptionally anxious. She did not overthink Carlo’s abnormal behavior; she only wanted to escape this predicament as soon as possible.
“Whether it is true or not has nothing to do with you, Mr. Carlo. I shall take my leave.” He Yu did not give Gu Jin another chance to speak. She opened the door and left, leaving Gu Jin standing alone, nearly on the verge of exploding.
In the Palace, Gu Ting watched as Gu Jin returned with a dark face shortly after leaving. He wondered who had provoked this ancestor again.
“The relationship between the He family and the Wen family has been investigated. They want to form a marriage alliance between Wen Zhixin and He Yu.”
Gu Ting thought to himself that it was no wonder Gu Jin looked like she was mourning. “Are you… that certain?” Gu Ting did not know how Gu Jin had confirmed it so quickly, but it clearly had not been a pleasant process.
“How could I not be certain? I saw the permanent marking on He Yu’s gland with my own eyes. She did not deny it either. What is there to be uncertain about? It must be that wicked Wen Zhixin. He looks like a decent person on the surface, but in reality, he does nothing but shameful things!”
Gu Jin kicked a nearby chair. She did not know why she was so irritable, but she believed no one would remain calm if they found out someone carrying their child was about to marry someone else.
Gu Ting stopped working and looked at Gu Jin. It did not seem like she was faking her anger, but he found it hard to believe. He knew Wen Zhixin fairly well; it was highly unlikely he would do such a thing. He had also met He Yu and felt she was not that type of person either. Was Gu Jin just overthinking?
The more he thought about it, the more unimaginable it became.
Tapping his fingers on the desk, Gu Ting remained relatively calm. Since this was not happening to him, his mind was clearer and more comprehensive. “Gu Jin, I do not believe He Yu is that kind of person.”
“I do not think so either, but I also do not believe there is anything wrong with my eyes!” As a long-time rival, Gu Jin felt she understood He Yu. She was proud, arrogant, and refused to admit defeat. She was certainly not someone who would casually settle her life with someone before marriage.
However, facts spoke louder than words.
Looking at Gu Jin’s back, Gu Ting rubbed his temples. He suddenly thought of something. “I still think something is wrong. By the way, Gu Jin, during that accident you both had, did you mark He Yu then?”
Gu Jin was stunned. “I… I do not remember.”
“There was the influence of alcohol and the drug…” Gu Jin truly had forgotten. It was the first time for both of them back then.
“Gu Jin, are you stupid?” Seeing his sister lost in thought, Gu Ting slapped her head and sighed. “Have you forgotten? You were both affected by that drug. She cannot even stand the smell of another person’s pheromones, let alone be marked by someone else.”
Gu Ting shook his head. He realized that Gu Jin was not only impulsive but also prone to narrow-minded thinking. Once she got angry, her already modest intelligence dropped into the negatives.
Gu Jin froze at his words. That was right. She sat backward in the chair, resting her chin on the back of it as she thought. It was impossible afterward, and she was certain it had not happened before. Then… was it truly her own marking?
She turned her head to look at Gu Ting. “Is that my marking?”
“Who else’s wicked doing could it be?” Gu Ting gave her a look of disdain and sighed again. “Now that it has come to this, once this matter is over, you should lay your cards on the table with He Yu. Honestly, for He Yu to be stuck with you… life is truly difficult for her.”
Ignoring Gu Ting’s sarcastic mockery, Gu Jin drifted out in her wheelchair. Then she paused. “When was her last heat cycle?”
“What?” Gu Ting was confused. Then he saw Gu Jin suddenly stand up. “Damn! It is today!”
By the time Gu Ting realized what was happening, Gu Jin had already vanished. He sighed again, feeling like an old, weary father.
After leaving the Yuhe Restaurant, He Yu felt unwell. She thought it might be a negative side effect of her confrontation with Carlo and ignored it, returning directly to the He residence.
Standing at the door, her body swayed, and she shook her head. The feeling of wrongness was growing stronger.
“Is He Yu back?” Grandfather He did not even look up from watering his flowers. He continued to water plants that grew in an automatic system purely for his own amusement, regardless of whether the flowers needed it.
“Yes, Grandfather, I am back. I am a bit tired, so I will go to my room first.”
Thinking about the task her grandfather had assigned her, He Yu felt a bit ashamed. She did not say much and went straight to her room.
Grandfather He watched her back but said nothing. His granddaughter had her own logic and judgment for everything she did. Except for her marriage, he did not have to worry about anything.
Thinking of this, his mood for watering vanished. He looked at the vibrant, delicate flowers and snorted. “I will have someone take the whole pot away later. Why am I still watering? I am done.”
The flowers seemed to silently thank him for stopping.
While Grandfather He was sulking, He Yu returned to her room. As soon as she closed the door, her body began to feel feverish. In the interstellar era, colds and fevers were terms found only in history textbooks. He Yu realized immediately that her heat cycle had arrived!
Leaning against the headboard, she hoped her judgment was wrong, but the heat in her gland did not lie.
She activated the pheromone blocking function in the room and tugged at her collar. She closed her eyes in discomfort. The sweet scent of honey and the faint smell of green grass began to intertwine in the air, lingering and affectionate.
Placing her hand on her flat stomach, He Yu frowned. She had been so distracted by the child and Gu Jin that she had overlooked her heat cycle. she had even forgotten to discuss storing pheromones with Gu Jin earlier.
Curled into a ball on the bed, He Yu thought of Gu Jin, who should still be in the recuperation pod, and felt a surge of despair. What happened to an Omega in heat without a suppressant or an Alpha’s help?
The gland would lose control completely, leading to hormonal imbalances that would cause great inconvenience to future cycles and daily life. It could even lead to an uncontrollable gland where pheromones leaked at any time, resulting in a permanent grounding!
Therefore, every Omega took their heat cycle very seriously. They always kept suppressants ready. Even if they lost them while out, they could order an interstellar delivery or go to a distribution center to receive them for free.
But the problem for He Yu was not the lack of suppressants; it was that suppressants were useless to her now! That cursed drug meant she could only accept relief from Gu Jin’s pheromones!
Relying on the faint scent of green grass in the air, He Yu barely maintained her sanity. For the first time, she was grateful for Gu Jin’s permanent marking. Although it was a tiny amount, it provided a sliver of relief. However, this was not a permanent solution.
Holding her knees, He Yu tried to look as composed as possible. she had only one option left: to ask the Royal Family for help.
Since she could not contact Gu Jin, she could only contact Gu Ting and have him make arrangements. Looking at her terminal, He Yu lost heart. How could she possibly say such a thing?
Just as He Yu was about to give up in despair, a gentle scent of green grass filled the room. It enveloped her tenderly, and all the unbearable sensations vanished. She felt as if she were floating among the clouds.
Gu Jin had rushed through the Royal Lane to the He residence, only to find it empty. Remembering she had seen He Yu and He Yi at Grandfather He’s other residence that morning, she hurried there. However, she realized she did not know where He Yu’s room was.
At that moment, Gu Jin found her own body starting to feel strange. Fortunately, she had been trained to control her gland and could ensure no pheromones leaked out for a while. But she could not hold out forever. The only way was to find He Yu as quickly as possible.
She searched almost room by room. She had to thank her older brother, the Emperor, who loved hoarding secret gadgets. The mecha he invented actually had a perverse super-stealth function!
The only drawback of this stealth was that it did not work against the human eye. In other words, Gu Jin could ignore the ubiquitous surveillance cameras, but she could not avoid any members of the He family who might appear.
She narrowly avoided the elderly butler and almost ran head-on into Grandfather He. She was forced to hide in a corner, nervously controlling her pheromones while hoping they would leave quickly.
Unfortunately, Grandfather He met the old butler and began a conversation.
Having grown up in the house, Grandfather He did not view the old butler as a servant but as a teacher, father, and friend. He viewed him as family and was willing to discuss anything with him. However, the man was old, and unless Grandfather He truly could not hold it in, he did not want the butler to worry.
“Sigh, Uncle Jiang, He Yu has truly worried me to death these past two days.” Having held it in all day, Grandfather He finally spoke. Seeing the old butler reminded him of his flowers that were about to be taken away. “He Yu has been stubborn since she was a child. I used to think there was nothing wrong with that. Without that stubbornness, she might not have reached her current position. But now that it is time to decide her marriage, I would rather she were ordinary and less stubborn.”
“Master, did the young mistress not inherit her temper from you?” Uncle Jiang’s face was kind and gentle. “Were you not the same, refusing to listen to anyone back then?”
Grandfather He sighed and said nothing.
“If you ask me, Master, you should let go. Children and grandchildren have their own fortunes. Actually, I think the Major General of the Gu family is not such a bad choice. Since the young mistress has set her heart on her, our interference will only be counterproductive.”
Gu Jin was shocked. Me? He Yu has set her heart on me?
Upon understanding those words, Gu Jin felt her heart race. In her excitement, she almost lost control of her pheromones. She gritted her teeth and pressed her hand against the wall so hard her knuckles turned white, desperately suppressing the pheromones that were nearly out of control!
“Master, keeping the young mistress by your side is not a long-term solution. When I went to the back garden just now, I saw her return to her room looking unwell. One day, she will have to leave. Why be the villain?” The old butler continued to persuade him, but Gu Jin was reaching her limit!
“Sigh, forget it, Uncle Jiang. Come play a game of chess with me. Let us not talk about this anymore.” Clearly, Grandfather He still could not convince himself. He did not want to accept this outcome and led the butler to the study.
They were finally gone. Gu Jin carefully observed her surroundings. She thought about what the butler said. The back garden? Then He Yu’s room must be nearby!
Having found the direction, Gu Jin easily located He Yu’s room among the few near the garden. The moment she climbed through the window, she noticed a slight ripple in the air. She realized it was the pheromone block He Yu had activated.
Before her feet even touched the floor, she smelled the rich scent of honey. It was a complete contrast to He Yu’s cold face and distant personality. He Yu’s pheromones were sweet and gentle. Gu Jin remembered how she used to tease He Yu about it.
The suppressed pheromones within her body erupted instantly. Gu Jin looked at the small figure on the bed and controlled her pheromones to drift closer, enveloping her. The freshness of green grass slowly diluted the sweetness of honey as they intertwined.
On the bed, He Yu seemed to sense something. Her curled body moved, and she slowly raised her head. She glanced toward Gu Jin’s position, her reddened eyes carrying a hint of resentment and affection.
