- My Omega Ex Begs For A Second Chance After Our Reunion
- Chapter 6 - Then Stay Far Away From Me.
Yu Sheng neither refuted nor admitted it. But in Jiang Qiu’s eyes, this was a tacit confession.
A surge of anger rushed straight to her head, and Jiang Qiu mocked herself, “Miss Yu, did you come to find me just to tell me that you cut me out of your life long ago?”
“You were the one who said you wanted me to compensate you for your losses,” Yu Sheng said very earnestly.
Angered to the point of laughter, Jiang Qiu simply didn’t believe that Yu Sheng couldn’t see she had just been looking for an excuse. “Fine then. I don’t need it anymore, and there’s no need to talk.”
With that, Jiang Qiu immediately stood up, preparing to leave, when she heard the Omega call out to her, “Sister.”
Jiang Qiu stopped dead in her tracks. For a moment, she felt as if the word “Sister” was a “freeze” command meant just for her. Especially coming out of Yu Sheng’s mouth, her feet became like a mechanical program, obeying with terrifying compliance. By the time she snapped out of it, the Alpha pursed her lips, secretly loathing herself in her heart for still being so utterly spineless.
Thus, to salvage her image as someone who was supposed to repulse this person, Jiang Qiu didn’t turn around. Instead, she said impatiently, “Don’t call me that. My fiancée won’t like it.”
She lost track of how many times she had used her fiancée as a shield.
“I…” Yu Sheng choked. Her hands shook unsteadily, causing the wine in her glass to spill onto the table. Hesitating, she said, “When are you and Miss Wen getting married?”
“Why? Do you want to attend?” Jiang Qiu turned sideways to look at her and let out a cold laugh.
Yu Sheng didn’t answer but asked another question, “Do you love her?”
Her tone was very light, so light that it sounded as if the Omega was asking about something completely inconsequential to her. But in reality, she had summoned every ounce of her courage just to ask it. She didn’t even dare to listen to Jiang Qiu’s answer; a mere moment of silence was enough to make her heart clench and her fingertips tremble.
Yet Jiang Qiu merely replied flatly, “It has nothing to do with you.”
Yu Sheng didn’t speak again for a long while. She looked up at Jiang Qiu. The Alpha’s refusal to give a direct answer seemed to give her a sliver of hope, and she wanted to see Jiang Qiu’s expression, but the other woman only gave her her back.
“It seems you haven’t fallen in love with Miss Wen yet,” Yu Sheng blurted out her guess. “Are you still going to get married even like this?”
Jiang Qiu turned back to look at her, not denying Yu Sheng’s assumption. “Does Miss Yu want to teach me how to act like you did two years ago, playing people like a fiddle?”
“I didn’t,” Yu Sheng immediately shook her head, wanting to explain further, but she was interrupted by the Alpha once more:
“Miss Yu’s acting skills are indeed excellent. But unfortunately, I am not the kind of person who plays fast and loose with other people’s feelings. I am very responsible, and I truly cannot bring myself to engage in deceitful behavior. Regarding marriage, I have absolutely given it deep and careful consideration. Miss Yu, you of all people should know that.”
Yu Sheng was rendered speechless. She opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to refute it, but the words wouldn’t come out. Confronted with Jiang Qiu’s mocking gaze, her throat suddenly went dry, and a wave of weakness washed over her entire body.
After a long time, the Omega finally said in a faint, weak voice, “I didn’t play with your feelings.”
“Is that so?” Jiang Qiu spoke with a cynical smile. “Miss Yu has never had any feelings to begin with. From start to finish, it was nothing but utilization. I was just flattering myself.”
“No…”
“Yu Sheng, you said it yourself with your own mouth. Have you forgotten?”
Jiang Qiu suddenly leaned forward, gripping the edge of the table. Her eyes turned ice-cold, as if they wanted to pierce right through the Omega’s features to look at the Yu Sheng from two years ago. The sound of pouring rain that night beat against her eardrums, the chilled ends of her hair clung to her neck, the proposal ring was clenched tightly in Jiang Qiu’s palm, and the wind blew with a bone chilling ache.
“No.” Yu Sheng’s breathing grew erratic, and she became somewhat flustered.
“Then stay far away from me,” Jiang Qiu said mercilessly. “This isn’t New York, and I won’t be fooled by you again.”
Hearing this, Yu Sheng’s brow furrowed slightly. For a fleeting moment, her eyes grew sharp, landing on Jiang Qiu as if examining her. The Alpha caught it, and as the Omega drew a few inches closer to her, Jiang Qiu fell into a daze, inadvertently recalling their past together.
Back then, she was studying for her master’s degree in New York, while Yu Sheng was an undergraduate. When they met for the first time, Yu Sheng hadn’t differentiated yet. Yu Sheng was seventeen that year, an anomaly in the eyes of her peers, because most normal people differentiated around fourteen or fifteen.
Jiang Qiu didn’t know much about Yu Sheng’s family; she only knew that her aunt had brought her to New York to study and to find a doctor to treat her delayed differentiation, trying to find a solution.
Unfortunately, relevant medical cases were rare, leaving them at a total loss for a while. They could only do gland examinations over and over again.
Under such circumstances, Yu Sheng’s situation wasn’t very good. Otherwise, Jiang Qiu wouldn’t have found an injured Yu Sheng during their very first meeting. The Alpha had a sudden bout of kindness; not only did she save her, but she also sent her to the hospital.
Yu Sheng was highly vigilant and stubbornly refused her help, fiercely displaying her own strength. Her way of displaying it was that when Jiang Qiu pressed her down to disinfect the wound, she pushed the Alpha away, turned, and got off the hospital bed, looking furiously ready to fight another round.
Jiang Qiu almost tumbled off her chair. Only after sitting securely did she ask with some helplessness, “Do you think I’m a bad person?”
Yu Sheng sized her up for a few moments, “You’re an Alpha.”
“What’s wrong with being an Alpha?” Jiang Qiu was baffled. “I saved you. What does that have to do with whether I’m an Alpha or not?”
“Are you really that good hearted? I don’t know you,” Yu Sheng expressed her suspicion.
Jiang Qiu simply set down the items in her hands, “Then do it yourself.”
Instead, Yu Sheng took another step back, “I don’t need it.”
With that, completely ignoring Jiang Qiu’s reaction, she glared at her like a bristling cat while stumbling away from the place. Looking at Yu Sheng’s retreating figure, Jiang Qiu felt that this person was like a hedgehog, but also like a kitten.
The second meeting came as a total surprise. Jiang Qiu never expected that her new roommate would be that deeply memorable “hedgehog cat.”
Yu Sheng obviously hadn’t anticipated seeing Jiang Qiu again either. Holding her suitcase, she stared wide eyed at the Alpha, who was just about to head out, before remembering that this person looked a bit familiar.
“Why is it you?” Yu Sheng took a step back to confirm she hadn’t gotten the wrong door.
Jiang Qiu smiled, “I heard I had a roommate coming today. It seems it’s you. You don’t look as disheveled as last time. Didn’t get into another fight?”
Yu Sheng rolled her eyes at her. Toward this somewhat meddlesome Alpha before her, she acted even more overbearing than usual, her words carrying a few hints of rejection.
“What an absolute curse.”
Unbothered, Jiang Qiu’s smile widened even more. Shrugging, she added, “Please take good care of me in the future, future roommate. My name is Jiang Qiu. And you?”
Hearing the Alpha’s name, Yu Sheng’s expression froze slightly. Her gaze carried a bit more scrutiny and prying, and then, a barely perceptible softening laced her tone, “Yu Sheng.”
“You don’t look very old. You don’t look like a graduate student.”
“I’m an undergraduate.”
“But this is the graduate student housing. The undergraduate dorms shouldn’t be completely out of vacancies.” Jiang Qiu was surprised for a moment, but quickly seemed to come to a sudden realization, “A special application, how did you pull that off?”
Yu Sheng didn’t know if Jiang Qiu was genuinely curious or just pretending, but she had no intention of answering seriously. As she stepped past the Alpha into the room, she remarked casually.
“I have connections. Do you believe it?”
Turning around, Jiang Qiu closed the door, seemingly forgetting that she had been on her way out. Walking behind Yu Sheng, she clearly didn’t buy it, “If you really had connections, would you have been beaten and injured by others?”
“You seem to care about me a lot,” Yu Sheng suddenly spun around before opening her bedroom door, looking at Jiang Qiu as she asked.
The Alpha’s footsteps halted. Her expression flickered, but she quickly recovered her composure, saying with a bright smile:
“Caring about a roommate, is that not allowed?”
Yu Sheng glanced at her, “Suit yourself.” With that, she entered her room.
Standing at the doorway, Jiang Qiu raised her hand and rubbed her nose somewhat awkwardly. She stared at the firmly shut door for a good while before realizing that she seemed a bit strange. She still had proper business to attend to, why did her mind go completely blank the moment she saw Yu Sheng?
Using stereotypes to deduce, since Yu Sheng was so arrogant, she should be an Alpha.
Then what was she doing rushing to care about her?
To engage in an Alpha-Alpha romance that was one hundred percent guaranteed to have no happy ending?
Jiang Qiu slapped her own forehead, thinking she must be losing her mind. She immediately pushed the front door open and left, attempting to let the outdoor wind clear her head.
The tavern had progressively filled up several tables with customers. A server opened the main doors, allowing the gloomy, cold wind outside to blow in unnoticed, snapping Jiang Qiu back to reality. The Alpha calmed down, straightening her posture once more to increase the distance between herself and Yu Sheng.
To tell the truth, Jiang Qiu didn’t know what Yu Sheng’s true colors were supposed to be.
Only now did she recall that her initial impression of Yu Sheng was cold and aloof, pushing people a thousand miles away. Yet one day later on, she became soft and vulnerable, making one want to shower her with affection. And after that, she was cold hearted and merciless. It seemed every single one of them was Yu Sheng, but at the same time, none of them were truly her.
How much was genuine and how much was a facade? Jiang Qiu had no way to tell.
Yu Sheng stood up as well. She spoke in a low voice, “Do you truly not want to see me at all?”
Jiang Qiu didn’t hear clearly what Yu Sheng said. She was immersed in the old memories that had suddenly sharpened in her mind, prompting her to say out of nowhere.
“You should be a bit more disdainful of others.”
Yu Sheng froze, “What?”
“Ignoring me,” Jiang Qiu described Yu Sheng’s original demeanor, “and always snapping at me when you speak.”
Hearing this, the Omega pressed her lips tight. She stared at Jiang Qiu for a long moment before she managed to voice a sound, as if all her strength had been drained away, “Do you like that kind of Omega?”
Jiang Qiu finally connected to Yu Sheng’s “channel,” but she didn’t quite understand what Yu Sheng meant by that. She furrowed her brows, but before she could speak, she saw the Omega’s eyes turn red, and tears spilled down instantly.
Jiang Qiu was stunned. Confronted with Yu Sheng’s pitiful and lovely appearance, she felt as if she were a heartless, ungrateful scumbag Alpha.
After all, the Omega bowed her head to wipe away her tears, looking entirely like someone who had been severely bullied.
“What are you crying for?” Logically speaking, shouldn’t she be the one shedding tears?
Yu Sheng’s eyes were red, and her tone of voice was exceptionally moving, inviting pity, “Do you not like me anymore?”
“Why don’t you tell me who was the one who brought up the breakup? And who is the chief culprit who threw me away after using me up?”
Jiang Qiu averted her gaze, asking back ice-coldly. She was a bit afraid that she would fall for Yu Sheng’s pity play.
And her honey trap.
