My Ex Told Me She’s Still In Love With Me - Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Two Straight Girls
The words had barely left her mouth when a sudden commotion broke out. Except for Meng Qingwu, everyone crowded around the window.
Meng Qingwu: “…”
Why do they all seem so excited?
She strolled leisurely to the windowsill. Looking down from the third floor, she saw a moving truck parked right in front of the neighboring courtyard gate. Ahead of the truck sat a flamboyant red sports car.
It was just like Bi Xinglan herself—bold and intense to the extreme.
Her gaze fell upon the woman standing to the side giving directions. She looked no different than she had in college; that baby face was still stunningly beautiful. Five years had left no mark on her.
Meng Qingwu watched her. A slightly messy bun was tied at the back of her head, and her face—still possessing a hint of baby fat—was so fair in the sunlight it seemed to reflect the glare. Even in this heat, she looked like a delicate flower that would never wilt under the sun.
“She’s even better looking than before,” Meng Qingwu remarked.
Although her features hadn’t changed, she gave off an aura that was even more captivating than in the past.
Hearing this, the others turned their heads in unison to stare at her.
“Hmm?” Meng Qingwu let out a lazy, questioning sound.
After a moment of silence, Yuan Junjun finally swallowed hard and couldn’t help but ask, “Don’t tell me… you’ve taken a liking to her?”
Meng Qingwu: “???”
“Actually, she’s not bad. I’m just afraid you won’t be able to catch her,” Jia Yu mused, rubbing her chin in thought.
“She is good. Rich, beautiful, not a bad person, and sincere and passionate in her feelings,” Yuan Junjun nodded.
Jin Le: “…Did you all forget her grand ambition?”
As long as Cheng Yi wasn’t married, she would keep chasing her.
Yuan Junjun blinked. “But look, except for that one time she sought out Qingwu at the beginning, she never appeared in front of them again, did she? She didn’t try to sabotage their relationship, so her character is decent enough.”
Jin Le: “…”
Meng Qingwu: “…”
Cui Lanyu let out a low laugh and even joined in. “Looking at it this way, Qingwu, maybe you really should consider it. Who knows, maybe she’ll have a change of heart?”
If that happened—the ex-girlfriend of Cheng Yi getting together with Cheng Yi’s persistent pursuer—the scene would be exciting enough just thinking about it!
Meng Qingwu: “…Don’t overestimate my charm.”
Is this something I could achieve just by trying?
“How do you know if you don’t try?!” Jia Yu seemed excited, egging Meng Qingwu on.
“Boring.” Meng Qingwu rolled her eyes at them, turned back to the sofa, sat down, and took a sip of her drink.
“How is it boring? Is Miss Bi not beautiful enough?!”
“You’re beautiful too. Should I chase you?”
Jia Yu: “…”
With that said, Jia Yu actually began to think seriously about it. She rubbed her chin and imagined it. “I have to say, I really dig your looks. But I simulated it in my head… I think I could accept kissing you…” Her eyes swept up and down Meng Qingwu’s body, finally landing on the curve of her chest. “And touching your chest. But if it went any further, I feel like I wouldn’t be able to go through with it.”
“Between two women… can there really be sexual desire?”
Meng Qingwu: “…”
Jin Le, Cui Lanyu: “…”
Yuan Junjun smacked the back of Jia Yu’s head and rolled her eyes. “After all those ‘hypothetical simulations,’ if there’s no libido, were Qingwu and the other one having a Platonic relationship?”
“Ow—”
Jia Yu clutched her head, muttering dissatisfiedly, “What’s wrong with Platonic? Platonic is beautiful, okay?”
“Fine, shut up. Only you heterosexuals are allowed to have sexual desire, but others aren’t?” Yuan Junjun switched to sarcasm mode.
“What do you mean ‘me’ being heterosexual? Don’t act like you aren’t one too!” Jia Yu immediately pounced on her, and the two began to tussle.
“Hahaha, I am straight! But hahaha, I wouldn’t be so absolute about it. Who knows if I’ll hahaha like women in the future?”
Yuan Junjun was being tickled by Jia Yu, and she laughed until tears nearly came out.
The other three watched the two straight girls fooling around, their expressions somewhat complicated. Eventually, the three ignored them, letting them roll from the sofa to the carpet.
“By the way, aren’t you going to go say hello?” Cui Lanyu asked with a raised eyebrow.
Meng Qingwu shook her head. “I’m not close to her. Pushing myself forward to say hello would make it look like I have ulterior motives.”
Cui Lanyu shrugged.
Meng Qingwu looked up at her and Jin Le, asking with a hint of playfulness in her eyes, “Are you two… together?”
She had noticed it just now; the atmosphere between them was different from before.
Cui Lanyu grinned, saying with a touch of mock modesty, “Almost there, almost there.”
She said “almost,” but with that beaming face, she looked completely thrilled.
Jin Le: “…”
Meng Qingwu smiled and raised her glass. “Then I’ll be waiting for your good news. Let me know in advance so I can prepare the red envelope.”
“No problem!” Cui Lanyu draped an arm over Jin Le’s shoulder and agreed instantly.
“Take it off!” Jin Le shrugged her shoulder and said coldly.
Cui Lanyu immediately and obediently pulled her arm back, looking perfectly submissive.
Meng Qingwu couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
…
After the laughter ended and the party dispersed, night began to fall.
Meng Qingwu went to the window to look out. The moving truck had left, the villa next door was pitch black, and even that flamboyant red sports car was nowhere to be seen.
She frowned slightly. Could it really be such a coincidence? Bi Xinglan living right next door?
Checking the time, she took out her phone and dialed the familiar number.
“Come over. Now.”
The person on the other end said something, and Meng Qingwu’s face turned cold.
After briefly tidying up the trash from the party, Meng Qingwu went straight into the bathroom.
Lukewarm water washed over her skin, which felt cool from the air conditioning. Meng Qingwu curled her lips into a faint smile.
When she came out, her white silk pajamas draped heavily against her body. Her wet, long hair hung down, completely soaking her back; even the front of her pajamas was dampened by the dripping water.
The doorbell rang.
Meng Qingwu checked the monitor on her phone. It was Cheng Yi.
She clicked the lock to open the door.
Cheng Yi entered. She was wearing a formal black evening gown and holding a bouquet of lilies, smiling at her.
Meng Qingwu raised an eyebrow.
Cheng Yi was very familiar with being here. She held the flowers in her left hand, crouched down to open the shoe cabinet on the right, pulled out a pair of slippers shaped like blue whales, and put them on.
“Qingwu, Happy Birthday.” She handed the flowers to Meng Qingwu.
Meng Qingwu looked down at the lilies surrounded by baby’s breath. The flowers were delicate and fragrant.
Suddenly, her nose crinkled, she turned her head, and let out a sneeze.
Cheng Yi froze, then quickly moved the flowers away from Meng Qingwu. She asked anxiously, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
But hadn’t Meng Qingwu always been fine with flowers? Surely it wasn’t a pollen allergy?
Seeing the damp pajamas and feeling the room temperature, she understood. She quickly found the hairdryer, plugged it in, and began to dry Meng Qingwu’s hair.
“Turn the AC up a bit; it’s too cold in here.”
She had always known Meng Qingwu hated the heat and craved the cold, but it seemed she had become even more extreme now.
Meng Qingwu gave a lazy response and somewhat reluctantly tapped her phone to adjust the temperature.
The warm air blew through her hair, occasionally hitting her face and neck. Meng Qingwu began to feel hot again. However, since she didn’t have to blow-dry her own hair, she didn’t want to make trouble by demanding too much from Cheng Yi. She closed her eyes and leaned against the sofa. Slowly, she felt a wave of sleepiness.
To keep herself from falling asleep, she took the initiative to find a topic. “Didn’t you say you’d be late?”
When she had called, Cheng Yi said she was busy and would arrive later, but in reality, she had arrived quite quickly.
Cheng Yi’s fingertips threaded through the black hair, occasionally using her finger pads to massage the nerves in her scalp. She said softly, “I lied to you.”
She just wanted to see how Meng Qingwu would react to her saying that. But she was disappointed; Meng Qingwu hadn’t shown any reaction to her behavior and had simply hung up as usual.
This time, Meng Qingwu didn’t even frown. She said tonelessly, “How were you so sure I would look for you tonight?”
Looking at her outfit and the flowers, it definitely wasn’t a last-minute preparation. So she had calculated that she would be summoned tonight?
“I wasn’t sure.” Cheng Yi smiled and said gently, “I just thought there was no harm in being prepared. If I was needed, great; if not, it wasn’t a big deal.”
Meng Qingwu hummed. “Is that so.”
She didn’t continue the topic. Because of the hair-drying, Cheng Yi was very close to her. She could clearly smell the faint perfume on Cheng Yi—it was just like the woman herself.
With the soft pads of Cheng Yi’s fingers massaging her head, perhaps because it was too comfortable, Meng Qingwu’s drowsiness grew heavier.
When the hair was half-dry, Cheng Yi stopped. She crouched by Meng Qingwu’s legs, looked up, and repeated seriously:
“Qingwu, Happy Birthday.”
Meng Qingwu lifted her eyelids. Perhaps due to the sleepiness, she couldn’t see Cheng Yi’s face clearly, only remembering those eyes that seemed to want to pull someone in.
Tonight’s Cheng Yi seemed very different.
Meng Qingwu thought dizzily, but if she had to say how she was different, she couldn’t put it into words. She could only give a vague response to the birthday wish.
“Are you sleepy?” Cheng Yi asked softly.
Meng Qingwu nodded, feeling the alcohol might be kicking in.
“Then… do you still want it tonight?”
Meng Qingwu’s sluggish brain suddenly stalled for a moment, then she immediately snapped awake.
That’s right, she had “business” to attend to tonight. If they didn’t do it, what was the point of calling Cheng Yi over?
“Yes. Go take a bath first,” she nodded.
Cheng Yi took Meng Qingwu’s hand and led it to her own lips. Her eyes fixed on Meng Qingwu as she said gently, “No need. I came after I had already bathed.”
Meng Qingwu watched her kiss her fingertips and then lightly take half a knuckle into her mouth. Her heart constricted slightly.
No wonder she felt Cheng Yi’s scent was even fresher and more pleasant today.
“You today…” Meng Qingwu’s gaze fell on the red lips holding her fingertip. She continued, “Are very different.”
Cheng Yi laughed softly at those words, a flirtatious glint in her eyes.
“How am I different?”
Meng Qingwu shook her head, unable to say.
Cheng Yi’s smile deepened.
“I prepared a gift for you tonight. Are you ready to unwrap it?”
