- Chapter 16 - Wife, Feed Me
Gu Fei didn’t say a word, her face flushing as she signaled the clerk to bring over another pair of high heels from the same series with a slightly lower heel.
“Let’s try this pair instead, wife.”
Attempting to shift the subject, Gu Fei kept her head down, silently helping Pei Yao remove the stilettos. While waiting for the clerk, she looked at Pei Yao’s fair foot resting on her knee. Her ear tips flushed red again, and she couldn’t resist lightly stroking the delicate, elegant curve of the ankle.
“In broad daylight, President Gu, what are you doing?”
Pei Yao, catching her small movements, couldn’t help but shift her leg. Suppressing the stirrings in her heart, she lightly hooked Gu Fei’s collar and cast her a low, teasing glance. That single look of tender flirtatiousness made Gu Fei’s throat move involuntarily. She let go of Pei Yao’s ankle with a crimson face, trying to scramble for a defense for her provocative behavior.
“I…”
But after two seconds of silence, Gu Fei still couldn’t think of a dignified reason. She was simply being seduced by her wife. Even if Pei Yao did nothing at all, Gu Fei’s heart couldn’t help but stir.
“Alright, it’s not like I’m not letting you touch me. Once we’re back in the car, you can do whatever you want.”
Watching her face turn beet red while she struggled to explain, Pei Yao’s heart softened. She touched Gu Fei’s chin and spoke into her ear with a soft, amused smile.
“Wife, that’s not what I meant…” Gu Fei’s thoughts were instantly derailed by that casual promise, her face burning.
“Mm, but it is what I meant.”
Pei Yao gave her a smiling look, raising an eyebrow as she lightly pinched the tip of Gu Fei’s ear. “Change my shoes.”
“Mm…”
Completely under her thumb, a blushing Gu Fei lowered her head to help Pei Yao into the new pair. Just as she tried to distract herself by gauging exactly how many centimeters lower these heels were than the previous pair, Pei Yao’s low, playful voice drifted down from above once more.
“Once I officially start work, President Gu won’t spend all day staring at me in a daze, will she?”
“I won’t.”
Sensing the teasing, Gu Fei pursed her lips with a serious expression, denying it while leading Pei Yao to her feet.
“Then President Gu had better keep her word.”
Pei Yao gave her a meaningful look and walked past her in the 8cm heels. “I don’t accept unspoken rules from the boss.”
Leaving those words in Gu Fei’s ear with a chuckle, Pei Yao paused to look at their slight height difference in the mirror. She narrowed her eyes slightly, feeling that the 10cm heels from earlier were actually better.
“I’m not that kind of person…” Gu Fei muttered, defending her reputation as she stood beside Pei Yao, looking down at the shoes again. “These are still very high. Why don’t we try another pair?”
Pei Yao glanced at her, her lips curving into a smile without responding. She simply gestured to the clerk behind them. “Wrap up the two black pairs I just tried, and that 10cm nude pair from the same series.”
“Right away.”
Seeing her turn to leave, Gu Fei let out a helpless smile at having her opinion ignored. She handed her black card to the clerk, then hurried to catch up with Pei Yao, who was already heading for the next store.
“Wife, what’s next on the list?”
“Lingerie.”
Looking down at their interlaced hands, Pei Yao lightly traced Gu Fei’s palm with her fingertip. “Just to be safe, you’d better not come inside with me.”
“Why?” Gu Fei felt a bit confused and slighted at being barred entry, thinking Pei Yao was afraid she’d be too forward in public again. “I promise I won’t touch or look at anything I shouldn’t…”
Seeing the small promise and the hand nearly raised in an oath, Pei Yao let out a silent smile and leaned close to Gu Fei’s ear. “If President Gu comes in with me, how are we going to play games later?”
“What games?” Gu Fei, now highly sensitive to the word game, blinked.
“Mm… the game of ‘Guess what new lingerie Secretary Pei is wearing today,’ of course. Doesn’t President Gu want to play?”
Gu Fei stood frozen, unable to utter a single “no,” her face burning hot.
“So, President Gu should wait for me out here. Let’s save a little surprise for later.”
Seeing her interest in the game, Pei Yao chuckled. She pressed a light kiss to the corner of Gu Fei’s mouth before turning to walk into the lingerie boutique alone. Gu Fei was left standing there, her imagination running wild over the name of a single game.
While Pei Yao was picking out lingerie, Gu Fei stood outside, feeling both flushed and melancholy. She felt that she would definitely never be as focused on her work as she used to be. With her wife around, it was truly difficult not to be distracted.
Letting out a sigh of helpless happiness, Gu Fei sat on a nearby bench. After a thought, she took out her phone and messaged Secretary Xu. Last night, she had asked Secretary Xu to add a new chair to the office, right next to her own. Originally, it was meant to make it easier to teach Pei Yao, but on second thought, she realized being too close might be a bad idea. A bit of distance was necessary.
So, it would be best to replace the desk as well something wider to create a gap between them, preventing Gu Fei from paying excessive attention to “Secretary Pei” during work hours.
Gu Fei waited with bated breath until Pei Yao finally emerged with several shopping bags. Gu Fei greeted her with a smile, taking the bags from her while pretending to casually peek inside.
“It seems President Gu really cares about what styles of lingerie I bought.” Observing her small movements, Pei Yao tucked her arm into Gu Fei’s and chuckled.
“I don’t.” Blushing, Gu Fei shifted the bags to her other hand. “Is there anything else?”
“No. Next, it’s time to go back to the car and fulfill my promise.” At her meaningful smile, Gu Fei’s face grew even redder.
As they spoke intimately in low voices, the clerk who had followed them to the door to see them off spoke up with a customary, warm smile.
“Goodbye, Chairman Gu. Goodbye, Ms. Qin. We look forward to your next visit.”
Both of them stopped in their tracks. While Gu Fei maintained a facade of calm, Pei Yao frowned and turned around in confusion.
“My last name isn’t Qin.”
“Ah…” The clerk froze, looking lost. From the first second Pei Yao had appeared outside the shop, she had recognized her as the famous actress Qin Qingwei. She had even noted the intimate relationship between her and the Group Chairman. To maintain professional conduct, she had strictly avoided showing any improper emotion while Pei Yao was shopping, but in the final moment, she had slipped up and somehow even got the name wrong?
Terrified, the clerk hurried to apologize, bowing repeatedly. “I’m so sorry, truly. I must have mistaken you for someone else.”
Her heart tightening, Gu Fei carefully watched Pei Yao’s expression while trying to cut off the apology and lead her away. “Don’t make that mistake again. Wife, let’s go.”
But Pei Yao didn’t follow her lead. She looked at Gu Fei’s face calm on the surface, but with a fine layer of sweat beginning to form on her forehead.
“Wife…” Gu Fei grew more nervous, fearing a relapse. She squeezed Pei Yao’s palm, trying to think of another lie to smooth things over, but suddenly realized something in the increasingly gentle smile on Pei Yao’s face.
She knew that smile too well. The last time she saw it was when Pei Yao suspected her of being promiscuous. Combining that with the clerk’s slip of the tongue, Gu Fei had a guess. Perhaps Pei Yao wasn’t focused on being called “Qin Qingwei,” but rather…
Sure enough, the next second, Pei Yao’s questioning words allowed Gu Fei to let out a complete sigh of relief.
“Have you been here with a woman named Qin before, too?”
“No.”
