- Chapter 14 - Wife, Put in the Effort
A rose-scented aromatherapy candle burned in the bathroom, its faint fragrance lingering silently in the tranquil space.
For the old Gu Fei, items like scented candles were merely decorations. She never paid much attention to them, frequently changing scents when shopping without any fixed preference.
That was until she started dating Qin Qingwei.
Because of the perfume Qin Qingwei wore, Gu Fei developed an unconscious fondness for the scent of roses. Though she rarely used perfume herself, she had once made a special trip to a department store counter after a date. She spent hours testing and sniffing until she finally found the exact match for Qin Qingwei’s scent.
Now, while soaking in the bath, Gu Fei would find herself recollecting that accidental kiss during a movie. She would blush at the memory while simultaneously browsing online to order more rose-scented candles.
A whole row of them now sat neatly arranged on the bathroom cabinet.
But it wasn’t until she lived with Qin Qingwei that Gu Fei truly realized the most fragrant scent was actually hidden on Qin Qingwei herself.
In the crook of her neck, in her embrace.
The roses she once considered merely light and elegant had, for the first time, made Gu Fei feel truly intoxicated.
Tonight, was no different.
In the rippling water of the bathtub, Gu Fei was buried in Pei Yao’s arms. The nape of her neck was being gently kneaded, and her core tightened as she moved with Pei Yao’s slight sways. Her arms, hidden beneath the water, tensed with effort, revealing the faint, lean silhouette of muscle.
Gu Fei moved her lips slightly with her eyes closed, her nose brushing against the pink-tinted skin before her.
Pei Yao let out a low, shallow gasp, leaning her softened waist against Gu Fei’s shoulder for a brief rest.
“Baby, is it easier for you this way?”
As Gu Fei wrapped an arm around her waist, stroking her gently, Pei Yao’s low, soft voice—carrying a hint of mock-reproach drifted into her ear.
“…Mmh, maybe.”
A blushing Gu Fei looked down at her fingers and gave a muffled response.
“It seems like I’m always the one putting in the effort but this isn’t bad either.”
Compared to Gu Fei, who was too shy to even discuss the topic, Pei Yao leaned lazily in her arms, seriously reflecting on the experience.
“Next time you say you’re tired, I can just do this directly, and it won’t exhaust you.”
Deeply convinced this was a great idea, Pei Yao sat up slightly and cupped Gu Fei’s face to consult her.
“What do you think? Baby.”
“…I’m putting in effort too.”
Seeing the playfulness and excitement in her eyes, a crimson-faced Gu Fei blinked and whispered a small defense for herself.
Pei Yao met her gaze for a moment, her lips curving into a gentle, skeptical smile as she questioned her softly.
“Are you? I didn’t seem to feel it just now, mm…”
Realizing her wife was looking down on her again, Gu Fei gripped her waist with one hand while her other forearm, submerged in the water, tightened.
Caught off guard, Pei Yao’s eyes turned red at the corners as she instinctively braced herself against Gu Fei’s shoulder.
When she finally let out a low moan and spoke again, it was only to offer light scolding and praise.
“Baby, you’ve turned wicked, it wasn’t this fast just now.”
“Because I have to prove to you that I’m putting in effort.”
The flush on her face hadn’t faded. Gu Fei buried her head in Pei Yao’s embrace, her eyelashes trembling as she looked down at the rippling water, her voice soft and heart burning.
“Mm… but you don’t have to like this.”
The bright bathroom light swayed before her eyes, and the wet strands of hair on Pei Yao’s shoulders slid with her movements.
“Be gentler…”
Unable to take it, she lightly pinched the tip of Gu Fei’s ear, pleading with a flushed face.
“If you keep this up. I won’t have the strength to help you bathe later… baby…”
Gu Fei let out a silent smile. Seeing that she was still worried about that, she looked up, her arm still around Pei Yao’s waist, and captured her ruby-red lips.
“Then I’ll be the one to wash you, Wife.”
In the midst of their shared desire, Pei Yao gave her a reproachful look. She gently kneaded Gu Fei’s wrist under the water, giving her a small, suggestive bite.
“Then you can’t just wash this one spot baby, do you still want me to be able to get out of bed tomorrow?.”
