Mistaken ‘O’ is a Crazy Gorgeous Boss - Chapter 23
An itching sensation spread from where her chin was held. Qu Zhen stared blankly at Shen Zhikou, her amber eyes like two pools of autumn water.
Had she really heard correctly?
Was her sister serious?
Her sister wasn’t angry with her, in fact, she seemed upset because of her apology.
Slowly processing this information, the somewhat dull and conservative Qu Zhen felt ripples stirring in her heart. She pursed her lips, a faint dimple appearing on her right cheek, then fixed her gaze directly on the captivating Omega before her, her voice still soft.
“I’ve remembered everything.”
“Sister, I’ll change all of it.”
Like an eager puppy wagging its tail tip, she added, “I promise Sister, I won’t ever make you angry again.”
After saying this, her eyes filled with nothing but Shen Zhikou, as if she were about to raise her paw and swear an oath. Her ears drooped slightly, and her gaze drifted down to Shen Zhikou’s hand, concern evident in her voice.
“Sister, did I crush your hand?”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Shen Zhikou released her grip. The skin on her wrist was even paler than the gauze wrapped around it.
“No.”
Qu Zhen breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good.”
Just as the atmosphere was about to settle into silence again, Qu Zhen, who was usually quite oblivious to romantic cues, mustered her courage and inched closer, despite her embarrassment, to the Omega who refused to meet her eyes.
The slender Omega wasn’t wearing an undergarment beneath her clothes, the curve of her chest soft and peach-like, her skin as fair as snow.
But the courage Qu Zhen had mustered quickly faded as memories flooded her mind.
Earlier, she had mistaken Shen Zhikou for the little cat plushie from her hometown. Not only had she nuzzled her face against her, but she had also… boldly kissed her.
And not just once.
Half-asleep, she had thought she was holding her beloved plushie again. Happily burying her face and nuzzling, she remembered kissing… three times.
And it seemed she had even kissed… there.
Qu Zhen’s face flushed crimson again. She didn’t understand why she had done such a thing, she had never behaved like that before. She had cherished that little cat plushie since childhood, treating it with utmost care.
Was it… the influence of pheromones?
Considering this possibility, Qu Zhen bit her lower lip, her eyes shimmering with fragmented light, unable to maintain even a facade of calm.
“Sister.”
Meeting the Omega’s cold gaze, she swallowed back her apology and instead, as if struck by inspiration, said, “Sister’s hand isn’t convenient. Let me help you… fasten the buttons.”
The alpha, who was usually clueless about matters of the heart to the point of being called a blockhead, gazed cautiously yet earnestly at Shen Zhikou, her eyes glimmering. For a long moment, there was no response.
Just as Qu Zhen began to worry she had misunderstood again, Shen Zhikou finally replied, “Mm.”
In the time that followed, Qu Zhen forced herself to keep her eyes strictly focused, avoiding any inappropriate glances. Her hands were beautiful, slender fingers with well-defined knuckles, elegant lines tracing her fingertips, the veins on the back of her hands faintly visible with movement, exuding a restrained allure that contrasted with her appearance and temperament.
Yet these hands, as exquisite as works of art, proved clumsy and unskilled even in handling such a simple task.
As the white button trembled through the buttonhole, Qu Zhen’s movements were painstakingly slow, as cautious as if she were crossing a precarious suspension bridge.
Once the top button was back in place, she immediately retreated, offering a very well-behaved smile.
“Big sister, they’re all buttoned up.”
“Mm.”
Shen Zhikou showed no outward emotion. She got out of bed and left the bedroom, her slender back as straight as bamboo, not uttering a word even as her figure disappeared around the corner.
Qu Zhen, a step behind, hurriedly followed. She guessed Shen Zhikou was going to wash up, but since Shen Zhikou’s hands couldn’t get wet, she needed to help with these tasks.
Just before entering the bathroom, Qu Zhen called out to her: “Big sister.”
“Mm.”
“I-I’ll help you.”
Shen Zhikou glanced sideways at her. “I’ll call you in a moment.”
“Mm, mm!”
After the door closed, Qu Zhen pressed herself against the wall like a dog with its tail caught, her head leaning against it as if in deep reflection, her earlobes redder than the fallen maple leaves outside the hotel.
Big sister really smells so nice.
While buttoning Shen Zhikou’s clothes, she could clearly catch that scent, a unique, cool fragrance blending lily of the valley and hyacinth. Still under the influence of the temporary mark, her breathing grew rapid, nearly pushing her to the brink of losing control.
It took great effort to wrestle with the alpha instincts clamoring inside her to claim and possess. A thin sweat broke out on her temples before she managed to restrain herself.
“Come in.”
The sudden voice from the bathroom snapped Qu Zhen to attention. She patted her burning cheeks and pushed the door open.
Shen Zhikou stood by the sink, her toiletries laid out on the counter. Qu Zhen naturally helped squeeze toothpaste onto her toothbrush, handed it to her, then filled her cup with water, all without needing any instruction.
“You do it too.”
Qu Zhen was puzzled but chose not to question it, silently picking up the matching toiletries and brushing alongside her.
They moved in sync, smoothly transitioning to the next step.
Shen Zhikou said, “You first.”
“Okay.”
The puppy-like Qu Zhen quickly washed her own face, then wet a towel for the Omega, carefully wiping her flawless skin from the temples to the delicate bridge of her nose, then her cheeks and the corners of her lips, finally stopping at the well-defined curve of her chin.
Shen Zhikou looked down at her. “You said you would change, right?”
“Mm.” Qu Zhen’s movements were meticulous and gentle. “I’ll listen to whatever elder sister says.”
“Listen to whatever I say,” Shen Zhikou murmured softly, her eyes holding an unfathomable depth. “Really?”
“Of course.”
Before Qu Zhen could step back after finishing, Shen Zhikou grasped her wrist. Her grip was light, Qu Zhen could easily break free, but she didn’t move.
Shen Zhikou met her gaze. “Lower your head.”
Without hesitation, Qu Zhen bent her head, halving the height difference between them.
Shen Zhikou looked at her calmly, her tone even. “I know you’re holding back. You’re suffering now, just like you were in the car earlier, aren’t you?”
Without waiting for an answer, she shifted her tone. “Then… kiss me.”
It wasn’t their usual forms of intimacy, holding hands, embracing, or other comforting gestures. It was a kiss, something far more intimate.
This left Qu Zhen stunned, her eyes widening in surprise.
The suddenly shortened distance brought them extremely close, their lips nearly touching. The effects of the pseudo-estrus period began to take hold again, the scent of hyacinth gradually permeating the neutral air.
Qu Zhen gazed at the Omega mere inches away, recalling the words she had spoken just ten minutes earlier.
“…I permit you to be bold.”
Yes.
They were now in a legally recognized marital relationship.
She needed Shen Zhikou, and Shen Zhikou often needed her too.
But…
Qu Zhen pressed her lips together, her heart pounding like a drum. After an intense internal struggle, this time, for once, she did not overcome or conquer her instincts.
She tilted her head and planted an utterly innocent kiss on Shen Zhikou’s right cheek.
But the next moment,
The slight distance between them vanished as the Omega moved. Shen Zhikou’s kiss abruptly landed on Qu Zhen’s soft lips. Before Qu Zhen could even close her eyes, she felt the warm sensation attempting to press further in.
Shen Zhikou’s voice sounded in her ear.
“Open your mouth.”
