Mistaken ‘O’ is a Crazy Gorgeous Boss - Chapter 24
This wasn’t their first kiss.
Back in the isolation room, Qu Zhen had already pinned Shen Zhikou down, biting her lips until they bled crimson. If her memory served her right, there was also that drunken night after they registered their marriage, she remembered that kiss especially well.
Because she was merely trapped by the effects of alcohol, not completely out of control like the night of her secondary differentiation.
At that time, her mouth was filled with Shen Zhikou’s lily-of-the-valley scent, utterly conquered without leaving an inch untouched. Shen Zhikou had even let out soft, kitten-like whimpers.
Now, for the third time, she was pinned against the bathroom counter by Shen Zhikou, who demanded she keep her eyes open and watch them in the mirror.
She had never been able to resist Shen Zhikou, especially now when she could clearly feel the lingering effects of her pseudo-rut taking hold. Just like in the car that time, she truly needed Shen Zhikou.
The consequence of willingly lowering her defenses was staying awake yet sinking deeper step by step.
In the cramped bathroom, the light scent of hyacinth grew increasingly rich, as if a shower of mixed floral rain had descended. The disposable face towel Qu Zhen had been clutching suddenly fell to the floor. Her long, delicate eyelashes fluttered incessantly, her almond-shaped eyes too shy to know where to look.
Looking down, she saw the focused, closed-eyed expression of the person before her.
Looking up into the mirror, she witnessed the enchanting, intoxicatingly beautiful scene.
When the kiss ended, she couldn’t help but swallow, her fingertips brushing over the edge of the Omega’s gland, as if wanting to leave a mark akin to a temporary claim.
But Shen Zhikou had always known when to stop. As it ended, she released the alpha’s wrist. Once her breathing steadied, she created a slight distance between them, though her captivating, emotion-filled eyes were especially mesmerizing at that moment.
“Feeling better now?”
Qu Zhen hadn’t expected her to ask that. Blushing, she nodded without making a sound.
“Anywhere else uncomfortable?”
Qu Zhen shook her head to indicate no.
In the silence, Shen Zhikou pursed her lips and asked, “Zhenzhen, are you… afraid of me? Or perhaps… do you actually dislike what just happened?”
Qu Zhen had already answered the first question back when they first met. She hurriedly said no.
“No, I’m not afraid.”
She added urgently, “And I don’t dislike it either. I would never dislike anything you do, Sister.”
“Is that so?”
“Really, of course it’s true. I wouldn’t lie to you, Sister.”
A nervous Qu Zhen stared intently at the Omega’s face, not wanting to miss any reaction.
Both had long hair, but Shen Zhikou’s ends were slightly curled and reached past her waist, longer than Qu Zhen’s by a good measure. The natural indoor light fell on her smooth, dark tresses, making the silent, downcast Shen Zhikou appear even more stunning, like a magnolia blooming in early spring.
Yet, inexplicably, Qu Zhen felt that the person before her seemed… quietly sad.
Qu Zhen’s heart tightened as she began to reflect on whether she had said something wrong. But when it came to matters of the heart, she was truly clumsy. Even after replaying every word she’d said, she still couldn’t figure out where the problem lay.
So, she stepped forward and took hold of Shen Zhikou’s bandaged hand, asking a question that was rather ill-timed.
“Sister, does your hand hurt?” she said. “Let’s go out first. I’ll change the dressing and bandage for you.”
Shen Zhikou replied softly, “It doesn’t hurt.”
Qu Zhen felt slightly relieved. “Sister, what’s wrong then?”
In this marriage, Shen Zhikou had always been the one firmly holding the reins. Apart from that time when debt collectors came knocking and she admitted her fear of the dark, she had hardly ever been in a vulnerable position.
Shen Zhikou was aloof, reserved, noble, effortlessly composed, and accustomed to controlling the situation. Even on the rare occasions when she showed a soft and pitiable side, like a stray kitten, those moments were few and far between. As a result, Qu Zhen, who had undergone secondary differentiation very late and lacked experience with secondary genders, had overlooked a crucial point all along.
An Omega who had been temporarily marked would become highly dependent on her alpha and deeply crave the alpha’s care and affection. Even a minor rejection could be magnified infinitely by the Omega’s sensitive emotions during the temporary marking period, leading to feelings of grievance, sadness, or even sinking into an inescapable quagmire.
This was the innate nature between Alphas and Omegas, a characteristic they were born with.
At the same time, this was also one of the reasons Shen Zhikou disliked being an Omega, she intensely disliked handing over control of her emotions to someone else.
But in this game, on the night Qu Zhen underwent secondary differentiation, she had already willingly discarded all her bargaining chips.
“It’s nothing,” Shen Zhikou said. “Let’s go out.”
Dogs possess many of the virtues of canines, they are sincere, loyal, passionate, unafraid to show their emotions, and once familiar, they become very clingy. If the ABO world could develop a third beast form, Qu Zhen would undoubtedly be a silly, lovable dog.
For instance, at this moment, though Qu Zhen lacked experience, she knew how Qu Han had comforted Qin Huan, so she followed suit and took another step forward.
Closing the distance between them completely, she wrapped her arms around Shen Zhikou’s slender waist, pressing against her shoulder and neck as she coaxed her softly.
“I know you’re unhappy.”
“If you’re unhappy, I’ll be unhappy too.”
“Sister,” she whispered coyly, “can you quietly tell me why you’re unhappy?”
The silly puppy, burying her head in Shen Zhikou’s shoulder and neck, chipped away bit by bit at the high walls Shen Zhikou had built around her heart. Seeing the silly puppy act like this for the first time, Shen Zhikou’s icy heart gradually melted, the frost in her eyes giving way to a hint of spring, until finally, the walls came crashing down.
She asked softly, “What if I don’t tell you?”
Even a silly puppy can have moments of insight. Qu Zhen lifted her head slightly, kissed the tip of the Omega’s chin, then shyly hid her face again.
“Like this.”
“I’ll pester you and won’t let you go.”
Her ears burning red, the puppy let out a silent “woof” in her heart, pretending to be fierce as she added, “And I’ll kiss you too.”
Shen Zhikou paused. “Suit yourself.”
Qu Zhen hadn’t expected the Omega to defy expectations, and she was once again unsure of herself.
The Omega in her arms smelled wonderful, the mingling of their two scents creating a cool fragrance that made Qu Zhen reluctant to let go. She tilted her head to study the woman in her arms, thought carefully for a moment, then tentatively kissed her neck.
Shen Zhikou trembled almost imperceptibly.
When the second kiss landed on her pearl-like earlobe, she grasped Qu Zhen’s hand in return.
It was just a fleeting kiss at first, quickly followed by more that scattered across her cheeks, one after another, until finally landing on her lips. She blinked, meeting the gaze of the alpha who was watching her expression intently.
The roles seemed reversed once again, this time, she was the one whose defenses were being breached.
Alphas learn quickly, especially S-class alphas. In practice, Qu Zhen soon mastered the art of drawing inferences and applying them broadly. She didn’t quite understand how things had escalated to this point. Initially, she had only wanted to cheer Shen Zhikou up and uncover the reason for her unhappiness.
But as she delved deeper, and the omega let out the same soft sound as that night, Qu Zhen seemed to grasp the source of Shen Zhikou’s emotions.
She pulled back slightly, suppressing her shyness as she whispered, “Sister,” then asked with certainty, “It’s because I didn’t respond to your kiss that first time after coming in, right?”
