Mistaken ‘O’ is a Crazy Gorgeous Boss - Chapter 22
Even while traveling, years of ingrained biological clock ensured Qu Zhen woke up early. But she wasn’t fully awake yet; after tossing and turning, she fell back asleep.
She had a habit of hugging something while sleeping, so she kept plush toys at home and in her dorm. In her drowsy state, she thought she was back at home, otherwise, how could the plush toy feel so soft?
So, she grew even bolder, clinging to it tightly and burying her face in its softness, nuzzling against it.
It wasn’t until the alarm went off at 8:20 that Qu Zhen, still half-asleep, let out a soft murmur and slowly woke up. She instinctively reached for her phone but couldn’t find it no matter how she fumbled.
When she opened her eyes as if waking from a dream and saw the soft, snow-like skin exposed by the unbuttoned collar right before her, she felt as if struck by lightning, frozen in shock and unable to move.
She wasn’t at home, and it wasn’t a plush toy.
It was Shen Zhikou.
She had curled up sideways, wrapping her arms around Shen Zhikou’s slender waist, her face pressed against the soft curves of her chest. The clear boundary they had maintained before falling asleep had completely vanished, and now they were intimately close.
Frozen like a wooden puppet, Qu Zhen’s mind exploded with countless exclamation marks, and her first instinct was to pull away immediately, right that instant.
But just as she was about to act on that thought, she lifted her gaze and met Shen Zhikou’s clear, lucid eyes.
If she had to find a word to describe how she felt at this moment, Qu Zhen couldn’t manage to dig one out from the knowledge accumulated over her twenty-two years of life.
She was both embarrassed and flustered, like a rabbit tripped by a carrot, so flustered that even the tip of her tail had turned pink.
Because she was so mortified, she actually became a bit more efficient than before.
She quickly released the slender waist, shifted her position, then pulled over the soft, thin bedcover. In the blink of an eye, she wrapped Shen Zhikou, who had just revealed a glimpse of spring scenery, into a silkworm cocoon.
After doing all this, she let out a sigh of relief, knelt on the mattress with a flushed face, and sincerely apologized to the silkworm-cocoon version of Shen Zhikou.
“Sister, I’m sorry.”
“I offended you, I’m really, really sorry.”
With each word she spoke, her head drooped lower, as if she were utterly ashamed: “I really didn’t mean to, I’m sorry for making you unhappy, sister. I’ll sleep on the sofa tonight, no, I’ll sleep on the sofa every day from now on. Even when we go back home, I’ll sleep on the sofa. I swear.”
Faint sunlight filtered through the light-gray curtains, casting starlike patterns on the marble floor, like stars in a sailboat.
Shen Zhikou, wrapped up with only her head and neck exposed, calmly observed the apologizing little alpha. Seeing that her head was almost touching the mattress, she finally spoke slowly.
“I didn’t say I was unhappy,” she said, lowering her gaze. “But now I am a little.”
Qu Zhen’s fair earlobes were so red they seemed about to drip blood. Yet, upon hearing Shen Zhikou say she was unhappy, she immediately forgot her embarrassment and raised her head to apologize.
“I’m sorry, sister. I know I made you unhappy. I’m sorry, I promise I’ll change, I really will.”
“Do you know why?”
Qu Zhen answered without hesitation: “Because… I offended you.”
Their gazes met in the air. The alpha’s eyes were filled with embarrassment, guilt, and even a hint of inexplicable, ambiguous tenderness. In contrast, the Omega remained utterly calm, as if this accident was nothing more than a minor incident within her tolerance.
She struggled free from the white soft quilt. The visual impact of the black silk pajamas against the snowy skin beneath was no less striking than the initial scene. Then, unhurriedly, she began buttoning her pajamas from the fourth button upward. Her fingers, wrapped in gauze, moved with effortless grace.
“Wrong,” she said.
Qu Zhen’s face was nearly pomegranate-red. She stammered, “Because… I should go sleep on the sofa right now.”
Shen Zhikou paused as she was about to button the third button and said calmly, “Wrong.”
After being contradicted twice in a row, a flicker of confusion appeared in Qu Zhen’s eyes. The periphery of her vision was filled with the snowy hue of autumn, and a flame ignited from the tips of her toes to the back of her head.
That flame, like the snowy scene before her, was entirely under Shen Zhikou’s control.
Qu Zhen quickly lowered her head and replied softly, “Because… I made a wrong decision from the very beginning. I should have avoided it from the start, like booking two rooms.”
This answer made Shen Zhikou stop completely. Most of the alluring snowy skin was now concealed. Her fingertips moved away from the second unbuttoned button and landed on the alpha’s head.
“Look up.”
Qu Zhen obeyed Shen Zhikou unconditionally. Like an obedient puppy, she raised her body and endured her embarrassment to meet her gaze.
“I’m sorry.” Shen Zhikou’s fingertips brushed over the alpha’s nose and came to rest on her chin. “Your answer is still wrong.”
Her voice was as melodious as a mountain stream: “You said you would definitely change, so you must remember my next words carefully.”
“My unhappiness is because ever since you woke up, you’ve been apologizing to me as if we were distant strangers. But we’re already married. Just yesterday, we both willingly went to the civil affairs bureau and took our wedding photos under the backdrop. Now, you are the closest person in my life. Your apologies make me feel as though this marriage certificate holds no real meaning.”
The omega, with her fingers lightly resting on the alpha’s chin, appeared aloof and noble, making one dare not harbor any irreverent thoughts.
Yet, after a brief pause, she spoke words that made Qu Zhen’s heart race and her composure crumble.
“You undid the buttons of my clothes. Don’t you think you should be the one to fasten them again?” Shen Zhikou said, enunciating each word clearly. “I don’t feel the slightest bit offended. But if you think you’ve overstepped-”
“I permit you to overstep.”
