Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 66.1
“You’re awake?” Liu Fenyun, who was reading the prescription, put it down and helped her sit up.
“What are you doing?” Lianyi asked Yu Qingyue while pulling over a thin quilt to cover Liu Fenyun, frowning slightly. “You made my sea of consciousness hurt.”
Seeing her polite and gentle demeanor, Yu Qingyue apologized and asked, “Are you willing to leave this human body?”
Lianyi froze, thinking she hadn’t woken up yet, and instinctively asked back: “What did you say?”
Yu Qingyue repeated herself.
“Of course I am willing!” Lianyi wished she could leave sooner, this body placed far too many restrictions on her. “Do you have a way?”
Yu Qingyue smiled and shook her head. “I don’t have a way, but in the Demon Realm, there have been cases where a human’s soul was accidentally consumed by a demon and the body was taken over. If you are willing, once I have cured the Love Gu, I will take you to the Demon Realm.”
“I am willing to go!” Lianyi was overjoyed, her cat tail wagging happily on the quilt. She wished they could leave right away.
Liu Fenyun finally finished reading the prescription. It was actually more effective than the system’s version, but one ingredient was the Inner Breath of the Demonic Beast Xuanmo. This creature was a legendary existence in any era, their dwellings were not fixed, and they possessed the special ability to tear through space and travel through time. They were impossible to find by choice.
She looked at Yu Qingyue troubledly. “Master, to be honest, I don’t know where to find the Demonic Beast Xuanmo, or how to obtain their Inner Breath…”
Yu Qingyue didn’t seem concerned. She handed the prescription back and said calmly, “I have a way to obtain it. You only need to gather the other ingredients and refine them according to the correct method.”
Liu Fenyun didn’t entirely believe she really had a way, but she knew her Master never made empty promises. If she said she had it, she had it. She said no more.
Having tucked away the prescription, Liu Fenyun saw her Master was about to leave and asked: “Master, do you have a way to fix your memory to a certain period? To be honest, your frequent memory changes make it quite difficult for us to operate.”
Yu Qingyue stopped, but instead of agreeing, she said, “For you to say this, it means I have already caused quite a bit of trouble for you all because of my changing memories.”
Liu Fenyun felt a bit awkward and stammered, “It’s not trouble… it’s just that Priestess Luo might find it difficult to bear.”
Yu Qingyue’s brow arched slightly. She felt the Love Gu in her body reacting. While suppressing it, she asked back, “What does it have to do with her?”
“You two are already in a relationship,” Lianyi reminded her sincerely from the side. “It’s as if you have temporarily forgotten the memories of your intimacy, but she hasn’t. For her, that is a very painful thing.”
Liu Fenyun felt this was a long shot. At this stage, Yu Qingyue’s feelings for Luo Binglun hadn’t reached the level of love, they were just good friends. Furthermore, Yu Qingyue hated being forced. Being pushed into a romance might be something she wouldn’t accept.
However, after hearing this, Yu Qingyue noted it as a very important issue. She nodded to the two of them. “I understand what you mean. Do not worry, there will be a way.”
After their Master left, both breathed a sigh of relief.
“Why does Master enter without even saying hello?” Lianyi moved the quilt off Liu Fenyun and rested her head back on her skin, complaining in a small voice.
Seeing her huffing, Liu Fenyun didn’t dare tell her that Master had actually knocked several times and only entered when no one answered.
On the pretext of buying medicine, Yu Qingyue suddenly left the Phoenix Pavilion. No one knew where she went, and even Liu Fenyun couldn’t find her. By dinner time, she still hadn’t returned.
This worried Luo Binglun deeply. She waited and waited but couldn’t bring herself to eat. To make matters worse, the weather turned sour, and a drizzle turned into a heavy downpour. Unable to rest, she borrowed a large umbrella and prepared to go out and look for her.
Just as she stepped out the door, she saw a figure walking gracefully toward her through the rain.
Yu Qingyue did not have an umbrella, nor did she quicken her pace because of the rain. She walked with great composure, letting the rain soak her through.
Luo Binglun was shocked. She hurriedly opened the umbrella and stepped toward her, tilting most of the canopy over her.
“Where did you go to buy medicine? What did you buy?” she asked anxiously once they returned to the room, her voice tinged with reproach. She was so frantic she nearly cried. “Why were you gone so long?!”
Even for a demon, getting soaked in the rain could lead to a cold. But more than the rain, she feared Yu Qingyue would suddenly faint and change her memory, unable to find her way back.
Yu Qingyue placed a finger to her lips, gesturing for silence. Once Luo Binglun calmed down, she said slowly: “It is both a good and a bad thing for you if I change my memories frequently. You have the chance to see me at every stage, but not every stage of me possesses the memory of our intimacy.”
She had stopped using formal honorifics. Luo Binglun pursed her lips and nodded, waiting for her to continue.
“For convenience, I have concocted a medicine to temporarily fix my memory,” Yu Qingyue said, looking at her. “But this medicine will be strongly rejected by the Love Gu. It will cause me to lose control at night and do… anything cross the line with the object of my affection.”
She paused. “I originally intended to take the medicine and stay away tonight before returning. However, the antidote for the Love Gu is not easy to make. Even if I avoid tonight, there is still tomorrow night. To put your mind at ease, I have returned with the medicine to seek your consent.”
She took a small box from her sash, opened it to reveal a pill, and showed it to Luo Binglun. “If you are unwilling, I will not take it. I will simply have to trouble you to take care of me as my memories shift.”
Yu Qingyue didn’t know exactly how far her relationship with Luo Binglun had progressed. She only knew that Luo Binglun had detested feelings between men and women since childhood, but she didn’t know her level of acceptance for a relationship between two women.
She didn’t want to embarrass her dear friend.
To her surprise, Luo Binglun nodded without hesitation and handed her a cup of water.
“It doesn’t matter. I have waited for a long time and have done much ‘homework’ for this.” Meeting Yu Qingyue’s startled gaze, Luo Binglun instinctively looked down, her cheeks burning as if on fire. “Just take the medicine. If it comes to that… you don’t need to worry about my feelings.”
Taking the water, under Luo Binglun’s encouraging eyes, Yu Qingyue swallowed the pill.
While waiting for the medicine to take effect, Luo Binglun calmly ordered the servants to bring hot water. Soon, the room was filled with drifting mist.
Yu Qingyue trimmed her nails while the water heated. The two entered the bath together, their hands entwined beneath the water.
“Are you afraid, Priestess Luo?” Yu Qingyue suddenly asked.
Luo Binglun shook her head. “More than fear… what fills my heart most is actually anticipation.”
“Fenyun said you love me very much?” Yu Qingyue asked again.
Hearing this from her mouth made Luo Binglun blush furiously. It felt like a public execution. After a long moment of hesitation, she gave a low hum of affirmation.
“Have you heard that Feather Demons usually only have one companion in their life? If the companion dies, they do not live on alone,” Yu Qingyue said. “If you and I have truly loved each other, then after tonight, you will be my only companion.”
Her solemn promise made Luo Binglun even more flustered. She squeezed her hand tight and then embraced her.
“But you know the Fire God’s teachings in Zhuhuang do not allow women to marry,” Luo Binglun murmured in her ear. “If I want to marry you, or have you marry me, what should I do?”
Yu Qingyue thought for a moment and said half-jokingly, half-seriously, “Then, perhaps your only path is to ‘give up the position of High Priestess and follow me back to the Demon Realm.'”
The Love Gu had begun to reject the medicine. Yu Qingyue felt waves of warmth surging through her body, and she instinctively pulled the person in her arms tighter.
Before the storm that would swallow her reason arrived, Luo Binglun whispered in her ear, tenderly yet firmly: “Fine. I give it up.”
The Monarch had long since stopped wanting her to remain in this position. The duties she owed to the Country of Zhuhuang had already been fulfilled.
