Marry First, Love Later With The White Cat Princess - Chapter 66
No matter how Lianyi tried to defend herself, she was truly drunk this time.
Liu Fenyun hadn’t carried her far before she heard her whimpering and complaining of a stomachache. With one hand clutching her belly and the other raining a flurry of chaotic punches down on Liu Fenyun, Lianyi shouted, “Bad person! Where are you taking me? Give Ayuun back to me right now!”
This wasn’t a good look for heading back to their lodgings. Faced with the suspicious glares of the surrounding humans and demons, Liu Fenyun quickened her pace toward the riverbank, hoping the cool breeze would sober up this “drunk cat.”
They weren’t at a scenic viewpoint, so the riverside was deserted. Liu Fenyun found a shaded spot to sit down, letting Lianyi lean into her arms. She gently pressed on her stomach and asked, “Where does it hurt? Here?”
Lianyi gave a muffled groan and snuggled deeper into her embrace, her face twisted in discomfort. Even then, she didn’t forget to act dismissive: “Don’t touch me. Where’s Ayuun?”
“I’m right here.” Liu Fenyun helplessly caught the small attacking fists and pinched her cheek, forcing her to look up. “You’re really drunk. Take a good look at me.”
Lianyi squinted her eyes to gaze at her, mumbling something incomprehensible. After a long while, Liu Fenyun finally heard her ask clearly: “Am I full?”
“You are full.” Liu Fenyun rubbed her slightly rounded belly, speaking slowly. “You’re drunk and can’t walk.”
“I am not drunk, I just feel sick in my stomach,” Lianyi insisted without pausing. After a few seconds of silence, she suddenly added, “I want medicine.”
“What kind of medicine do you want?” Liu Fenyun followed her lead.
“For digestion…” Lianyi covered her mouth as she spoke. “I’m so full I want to throw up…”
Fortunately, she was only talking; she didn’t actually vomit. She buried her face in Liu Fenyun’s arms while covering her mouth and seemed to fall asleep. She fell silent, though Liu Fenyun remained on edge, terrified she might vomit on her clothes.
After finding some digestive medicine and feeding it to the drunk cat, Liu Fenyun poked her. Seeing no reaction, she finally felt safe enough to pick her up, taking a secluded path back toward the Phoenix Pavilion.
However, as she approached the pavilion, she heard Qi Ran’s voice: “Senior Sister, you don’t need to persuade me anymore. I am not going back to the Demon Realm with you.”
Then she heard Yu Qingyue’s faint reply: “You are merely afraid of Master’s punishment, but things have already come to this, hiding is useless. If neither of us returns, Master will surely send other demons out.”
Liu Fenyun immediately stopped in her tracks, suppressed her aura, and crouched down in the shadows of the building with Lianyi in her arms to eavesdrop.
Judging by that calm and indifferent tone, has Master’s memory refreshed again?
At this moment, Qi Ran was furious. She had been sleeping in her cage when she was abruptly dragged out by Yu Qingyue, had cold water splashed in her face, and was then subjected to a nonsensical lecture. Every word was an attempt to persuade her to return to the Demon Realm. She would have rather stayed asleep.
Seeing Yu Qingyue about to continue, Qi Ran snapped: “Senior Sister Qing, your memories are confused, which is why you’re saying these things to me. If you knew what I’ve done all these years to the humans, to you, and to your lover, you would wish you could kill me right here instead of taking me back to see Master.”
“Lies are useless now.” Yu Qingyue’s voice turned icy. “Do you know what I hate most about you? Since the day Master picked you up, you’ve made a habit of using lies and provocation to protect yourself, treating everyone who treats you well as an enemy. Since I promised Master, I will bring you back. No matter what great sins you have committed in the human realm, I will take you back to let Master pass judgment.”
Hearing this, Qi Ran grew even angrier and sneered: “Since you know I’m an incorrigible rogue, why waste your breath? You want to take me back? Fine. Let’s do it the old way, we fight. If you don’t break all four of my limbs, I have a thousand ways to escape on the journey back!”
Sensing the tension and seeing that both were ready for a life and death struggle, Liu Fenyun hesitated over whether to intervene. Suddenly, she heard Luo Binglun’s sharp rebuke: “You have committed a heinous crime, even being hacked into a thousand pieces wouldn’t be enough to satisfy my grudge!”
Luo Binglun had returned to find the two confronting each other and had overheard Qi Ran’s words, causing her anger to flare.
Qi Ran, ironically, felt relieved. She used Luo Binglun’s words against Yu Qingyue: “See, Senior Sister? Even an outsider knows I am beyond redemption. Who are you putting on this ‘kind-hearted’ act for?”
Yu Qingyue frowned, but before she could speak, Luo Binglun raged again: “Your Senior Sister already chose the path with the smallest price for you. Not only did you refuse to listen, you’ve repeatedly caused trouble, breaking hearts time and again! Doctor Yu, do not waste your breath on her. Let her go be a lapdog for those beast tamers.”
Ultimately, Liu Fenyun didn’t know enough about their history. Suppressing the urge to mediate, she checked the system map, picked up Lianyi, bypassed the three clashing women, and quietly returned to their room.
Because of Qi Ran, they were now forced to flee the Country of Zhuhuang. She also needed to concoct the antidote for the Love Gu to cure her Master. Even though her previous impression of Qi Ran wasn’t bad, now only resentment remained.
However, Liu Fenyun didn’t like to show her resentment openly. Since the three demons outside were arguing loudly, she simply set up a soundproofing barrier and began taking care of the drunken cat.
Fortunately, the area where they were arguing was uninhabited otherwise, if others had overheard those words, it would have caused another disaster.
Lianyi hadn’t woken up yet. The alcohol was kicking in, making her whole body run hot. The moment she was laid on the couch, she began tugging at her clothes.
Liu Fenyun rushed to stop her, pinning her hands down while slowly unfastening her belt and removing her outer robe to let her cool down.
The cat’s “drunk behavior” was actually quite decent; she had mumbled nonsense while awake, but now she was sleeping very quietly. Liu Fenyun brought warm water and wiped away the sweat to prevent her from catching a cold once the moisture dried.
The cat didn’t move at all, letting her wipe her face and body. Yet, just as Liu Fenyun picked up the wooden basin to go outside and rinse the cloth, the supposedly deep-sleeping cat suddenly threw her arms out and wrapped them tightly around Liu Fenyun’s waist.
Liu Fenyun nearly dropped the basin. She struggled slightly but couldn’t break free, so she put the basin back and sat down, holding Lianyi’s hand.
“Don’t be afraid. I’m just changing the water. I’ll be right back.”
Lianyi refused to let go, hugging her tighter. Her hot face pressed against Liu Fenyun’s back as she murmured drunkenly, “You promised the same thing last time, but then you went down to the lower realm all by yourself without a word.”
She didn’t want Liu Fenyun to leave. Before Liu Fenyun could respond, her arms suddenly exerted force, pulling her onto the couch and clutching her like a human body pillow.
Facing her, Liu Fenyun saw that she had opened her eyes a crack, staring at her in a half-dreaming, half-awake state, her breath smelling of wine.
“Don’t leave again, or else… I’ll lock you in my inner chamber cave where no one can find you.” The cat’s voice was soft and sweet, but the words were terrifying, sending a shiver down Liu Fenyun’s spine.
High-level demons who reached a certain level of cultivation had an “inner chamber cave.” To put it bluntly, it was actually a secondary stomach used by the demon race to store things.
Terrifying. The rumors about ‘yanderes’ are true, an over-possessive yandere really will eat their lover!
“I never planned on leaving.” Liu Fenyun steadied herself and began stroking her hair and cat ears, patting her gently to soothe her. “I won’t leave you alone again.”
The cat squinted at her for a moment and said seriously, “I’m not a person. I’m your little kitty.”
She proactively burrowed into Liu Fenyun’s arms, her grip never loosening. After rubbing against her for a while, she suddenly reached out to tear at Liu Fenyun’s clothes.
Liu Fenyun: ??!
She tried to dodge in a panic, but Lianyi pulled her back, humming a song that sounded quite pleasant. Despite Liu Fenyun’s resistance, the cat used a claw to rip through the distracting fabric, pushed it aside, and rested her head directly against a patch of snow white skin.
Fuzzy cat ears brushed against her skin, tickling intensely. Liu Fenyun didn’t dare move, her entire body stiffening on the couch.
Only one thought remained in her mind: I can never let this cat drink again!
Meanwhile, inside Luo Binglun’s room.
Qi Ran, who had transformed back into a black panther cub, proactively returned to the iron cage entwined with vines. She pulled the door shut with her tail, lay down, and closed her eyes to feign sleep.
After locking the cage in a side room, Luo Binglun and Yu Qingyue sat facing each other on the couch. Both looked quite grim.
“Judging by your certain tone just now, am I truly suffering from confused memories? Is that why I was explaining things to Qi Ran so patiently?” After a long silence, Yu Qingyue was the first to speak.
“Your disciple said so, and you have indeed shown symptoms of memory confusion these past two days.” Luo Binglun sighed. “The day it happened was during the festival of the Country of Zhuhuang. Qi Ran and her subordinates teleported you to the Deceptive Saint Marsh and infected you with the Love Gu. When we found you, your memory was already muddled.”
She paused, her gaze dimming. “Liu Fenyun is already preparing the antidote. I don’t know how long it will take for you to return to normal…”
After a moment of reflection, Yu Qingyue asked, “What year is it now?”
Luo Binglun stated the current era name of the Country of Zhuhuang.
Yu Qingyue thought for a moment and asked again, “Why is Fenyun with you? She doesn’t like going out and has never left the Country of Liuzhi.”
Luo Binglun explained, “Six months ago, Liu Fenyun was sent by the Country of Liuzhi as the Sixth Prince to enter a political marriage with my disciple.” Mentioning this, she couldn’t help but elaborate. “You might not believe it, but my disciple passed away four years ago. She was possessed by the cat demon she kept in her manor, the big white cat currently following your disciple.”
She remembered that during the period Yu Qingyue’s memory was currently stuck in, they used to chat about their beloved disciples. Later, when the Seventh Princess died and she severed her master-disciple relationship with the cat demon, seeing Yu Qingyue and Liu Fenyun together always made her feel pained for a long time.
Yu Qingyue calculated the current time. After hearing Luo Binglun’s explanation, she said, “So that’s how it is. As for the Love Gu, you needn’t worry. I have studied the poisons and Gu of the Country of Gehua. I only need to write a prescription for Fenyun, and it will be cured within seven days.”
She acted immediately, stepping off the couch to fetch a brush, ink, and paper. She quickly wrote the prescription. While waiting for the ink to dry, she said, “Lan Yi’s soul should still be inside the cat demon’s body. If the cat demon hasn’t consumed her soul and has nurtured it all these years, perhaps by separating their souls, Lan Yi can be resurrected.”
Luo Binglun had only mentioned it in passing; she hadn’t expected such news. Her face immediately lit up with joy.
“But possession and soul separation are both acts against heaven’s will. I’m afraid I cannot do it myself.” Yu Qingyue changed the subject. “How about this, once I am cured of the Love Gu and have dealt with Qi Ran’s situation, I will take that cat demon back to the Demon Realm to seek help from my Master. What do you think?”
If there was a chance, Luo Binglun naturally wanted to reunite with her disciple. Back then, she had regretted not taking her to see Yu Qingyue in time, which delayed treatment and resulted in her watching her disciple pass away on her sickbed.
Wait for the ink to dry, Yu Qingyue personally went to find Liu Fenyun. Besides providing the prescription, she needed to advise her on the special requirements for decocting this medicine.
However, she knocked on the door several times, and no one answered, even though Liu Fenyun’s aura was clearly inside the room.
Yu Qingyue remembered Luo Binglun mentioning that the cat demon who married her disciple was eccentric and extremely possessive, and she couldn’t help but grow worried.
At this stage of her memory, Yu Qingyue was not yet so composed. Thinking of something bad, she immediately used a demon art to pass through the door, intending to rescue her disciple.
To her surprise, she saw Liu Fenyun leaning halfway on the couch, holding the disheveled cat demon in her arms.
Liu Fenyun never expected someone to enter so suddenly, let alone her Master. She was dazed for a moment before snapping back to reality, hurriedly sitting up straight and speaking respectfully: “Good afternoon, Master!”
The cat in her arms had fallen back into a deep sleep, but her arms were clamped tightly. Liu Fenyun couldn’t get off the couch to salute, so after speaking, she could only offer Yu Qingyue an awkward yet polite smile.
Yu Qingyue had always cared deeply for this eldest disciple who dressed as a man. Noticing that Liu Fenyun’s smile wasn’t one of helplessness, she pursed her thin lips, walked over to the side of the couch, handed the prescription to Liu Fenyun, and looked down at the peacefully sleeping cat demon.
This child is quite well-behaved while sleeping; I don’t see the flaws the Priestess spoke of.
Yu Qingyue couldn’t resist placing her hand on top of Lianyi’s head and chanting a soul-searching incantation. Sure enough, she discovered another soul inside her body very weak, yet very complete, and not damaged by the passage of time.
She tried to use her spiritual sense to contact that soul, but unexpectedly, a thick demonic energy suddenly gathered around it, shielding it tightly.
Lianyi groaned and woke up with a start, turning around fiercely. When she saw it was Yu Qingyue performing the art, her gaze immediately softened.
