Life After Being Claimed by the Disabled Dragon Lady - Chapter 79
Long Ling returned to the yacht, took a hot bath, and before long, dawn broke.
She was sound asleep in the soft quilt when Violet closed the yacht’s windows and drew the curtains tight.
Violet wanted to take Long Ling back to the manor right then, but she worried Long Ling would wake up and lose her temper.
She leaned down and kissed Long Ling’s sleeping cheek, unwilling to take her eyes off her for a moment. She stayed by her side, watching her until Long Ling woke up.
After her extra rest, Long Ling got out of bed, ready to leave.
“You should go back to the Illidari Manor first. I’ll come find you after I’m done with my business, and then we’ll look for Dragon Palace together.”
Long Ling said to Violet while combing her silver-white hair in front of the mirror.
Violet walked to her side and sat on her lap: “I want to be with you. We’ll go to the tavern first, and once you’re ready, we can go back to the manor for the map.”
Violet’s delicate scent wafted towards her in waves. Long Ling leaned back slightly in the chair: “We have to pass through the Elven territory on the way there and back, and you can’t enter it.”
Violet wrapped her arms around Long Ling’s neck: “I’ll wait for you from a different direction. Can I go around the Elven territory and meet up with you?”
Long Ling shook her head slightly. She suddenly thought of the ban Violet had placed on elves entering her territory—merchants passing through the Griss Harbor had to take a detour.
“Can you lift the ban that prevents elves from setting foot in your territory?”
Violet’s narrow eyes slightly narrowed, and her tone turned cold: “What? Are you concerned about them?”
Long Ling closed her mouth, continued to comb her hair, and ignored Violet.
Violet was always jumping to conclusions, thinking she had ambiguous relationships with others.
Seeing that Long Ling wasn’t speaking to her, Violet lowered her head, pinched Long Ling’s chin, and spoke in a low voice: “You are not allowed to feel concern for anyone else in front of me. You can only think about me. If you reconcile with me, I will agree to your request.”
Their breaths mingled, and before Violet’s lips could touch Long Ling’s rosy ones, Long Ling pushed her away.
Long Ling put down the comb: “I have other things to attend to.”
Violet had already been gentle and pleaded with Long Ling many times, making concession after concession. If only Long Ling wouldn’t behave as if anyone could be prioritized over her, even a few sweet lies would have been enough.
But she didn’t say a single soft word. Could the feelings they shared for so long really not compare to someone who suddenly appeared?
Violet was a little angry and got off Long Ling’s lap: “You can leave.”
The warm body left Long Ling’s embrace. Long Ling glanced at the cold-faced Violet, her eyes wavering slightly, but she picked up her coat by the bed without hesitation.
“I’ll go to the deck first. Ask the captain to anchor the yacht on the opposite shore.”
When women are angry, they say the opposite of what they mean. How could Long Ling not understand this at all!
Violet grabbed Long Ling’s hand and pulled her into a hug, saying in a husky voice: “Leaving just like that? And then you’ll keep your distance from me, and we’ll never see each other again, is that it?”
The Omega’s embrace was tight. Her burning lips kissed the back of Long Ling’s neck and gently sucked, causing a shiver to instantly run down the pale skin.
Long Ling turned sideways and said calmly: “I didn’t say I wouldn’t see you. I’ll come find you after I finish my work.”
Violet took Long Ling’s hand in hers. Her skin was fairer than Long Ling’s. The little dragon had been running around outside these past few days and had tanned her hands a few shades darker.
Violet’s fingertip traced the inside of Long Ling’s fingers, which felt a bit rough. Tending to the tavern outside must have involved a lot of hard work.
If Long Ling had just stayed with her, she wouldn’t have had to endure so much hardship.
Violet felt a pang of heartache. She had wanted to say three days was too long, but she didn’t want Long Ling to have to travel back and forth as hard as she did. “If you promise to think of me constantly, I’ll let you go.”
Long Ling had never known Violet to be so clingy, but since they had broken up, getting tangled up like this was inappropriate.
“We’ll talk about it when I get back.”
Suddenly, she felt a bite on the back of her neck, and a sharp pain instantly rushed over her.
Violet’s eyes were crimson, and her proud face showed a hint of sadness.
She was the only one who felt reluctant about the separation; the little dragon was just trying to brush her off and get her to leave quickly.
Long Ling still pushed Violet away: “Why did you bite me suddenly?”
Violet licked Long Ling’s wound: “So you can bite me back.”
Long Ling clenched her fingertips. She hadn’t fully decided whether to reconcile with Violet and needed to maintain a proper distance first.
She turned and left directly.
Violet watched Long Ling’s retreating figure, and everything around her turned gray.
Long Ling didn’t know that during the days she was gone, Violet had countless restless nights, simply wishing to be with the person she loved. Why was it so difficult?
The yacht quickly reached the shore. Long Ling and Annie left the yacht together to meet up with Mo Dai, and they left together by boat.
Long Ling gave her gift to Aelith. Aelith gave her a magical messenger butterfly in return. From now on, they could exchange messages using the butterfly instead of the magic communication crystal.
She and Long Ling assembled the little mermaid coral ornament together. It was Aelith’s first time seeing an intelligent creature that lived in the ocean. She curiously touched the fish tail on the ornament. It felt very smooth, and it had shiny, beautiful scales, just like Long Ling.
However, apart from the one time she saw Long Ling turn into a giant dragon when they met the treant, she had never seen Long Ling’s dragon tail again, only occasionally seeing the beautiful dragon horns on Long Ling’s head.
Perhaps she preferred a little dragon ornament over the cuteness of the little mermaid. The way Long Ling’s eyes sparkled when describing the outside world made one feel warm and sunny.
Long Ling didn’t stay long in the forest territory before returning to the Livor Continent.
When she arrived at her newly opened tavern, Long Ling saw that someone had opened the exact same kind of tavern directly across from hers.
Her tavern was called the Mist Tavern, while the others was called the Late Night Tavern. The rival’s tavern occupied a larger area and was constantly busy with customers.
Long Ling withdrew her gaze and walked into her own tavern, finding the interior in disarray.
Several half-beast employees were tearfully tidying up the broken tables and chairs on the floor. The liquor cabinet looked as if it had been raided, scattered in pieces everywhere, and the floor was covered with shards of broken wine bottles.
Especially at a time like this, as the tavern owner, she had to remain calm.
It was fine when she left, and she had even asked her aunt, Lan Qin, to watch the store. She had only been traveling to the Free City for seven days. How could so many problems arise so quickly?
Long Ling frowned tightly: “What happened? Where is Aunt Lan?”
When the employees saw their boss arrive, they felt like they had found their pillar of support and started talking over each other.
“A few days ago, someone suddenly opened a tavern across from ours. It was built in just a few days, and they started soliciting customers right outside our door.”
“Their alcohol prices were lower than ours, and they even offered many free gifts. A large portion of our customers left, but some regulars who liked the boss’s unique private dishes stayed.”
“But this morning, a group of people rushed in, claiming that they got sick after drinking the alcohol we sold and that the food in the tavern was also problematic, saying they were poisoned after eating it. They started smashing things everywhere in the store. Aunt Lan said she went to organize some people to retaliate by smashing the tavern across the street.”
She wasn’t particularly worried about the tavern. She had already earned back the capital in the past few days and would have ways to rise again in the future. However, if something happened to her aunt, she didn’t know how she would explain it to her grandmother.
Long Ling was worried: “Two of you go call Aunt Lan back first. Where is the problematic alcohol and food? Take me to see it.”
The half-beast employee cried: “The alcohol was all smashed by those people, and the food was also taken away. Aunt Lan left an hour ago and hasn’t returned.”
Long Ling realized the other party was deliberately causing trouble. The act was skilled, leaving no evidence. She hadn’t been open for long and didn’t know how she had made an enemy, but she was not someone to be messed with.
“Two people, come with me to the tavern across the street first. The others should go find my mother, Mo Dai, and then go to the Clue City Security Bureau to report the crime together.”
The law on the Livor Continent was virtually a dead letter, but something so major had happened, and reporting it immediately and making it public was necessary to save her reputation.
Mo Dai was a major merchant in Clue City, and she had dealt with the director of the Clue City Security Bureau at a banquet. If the authorities could step in and cooperate, it would surely make the person behind this think twice.
As Long Ling walked out of the tavern door, someone handed her a note, asking her to meet privately and to hurry over, otherwise, her aunt, who was in their hands, would soon be held for ransom.
It had been a long time since she had encountered such bandit-like behavior, and she really wanted to know the true face of the other party.
However, she remembered Mo Dai’s words to always keep a backup plan. She waited until she received confirmation that her mother and the Security Bureau personnel were on their way before taking people to the appointed location.
In a long-abandoned old street area, Long Ling walked up the desolate second floor and saw a short-haired female Alpha wearing a black suit. She was tall and slender with heroic facial features, a scar above her right eyebrow, and dark, deep, gloomy eyes. She was sitting in a chair, and the entire dragon’s aura at this moment was like a knife soaked in poison.
Her pheromone scent was a strong mugwort smell. As soon as Long Ling approached, she felt the pheromones stimulate her fighting spirit.
She had smelled this scent before. She remembered Violet telling her that this person was her subordinate.
This female Alpha’s demeanor was reminiscent of Violet’s. A Dragon from a military background always holds their back straight, no matter the circumstances.
She didn’t recall ever interacting with Violet’s subordinates. She had only seen Violet’s deputy twice and knew the deputy was a Beta. She had never seen this person, but she would trust Violet.
Why would Violet send a subordinate to trash her tavern?
Long Ling looked around, but didn’t see Aunt Lan. Her heart grew anxious, but she kept her face calm and asked the other person:
“Are you the owner of the tavern across the street? Is Aunt Lan in your hands?”
Her tone was certain. Seviya had expected her to lose courage, but she didn’t expect her to dare to question her. A deep resentment flashed in her dark eyes.
The Alpha opposite her looked fragile, completely different from her own type of dragon, but the sunny and gentle aura around her was almost blinding, making one want to destroy everything she possessed.
“You’re not as stupid as you look, yet you dare to come alone to court death. Do you want to know why I’m messing with you?”
