- Chapter 77 - The Big Evil Dragon Gets Jealous
Silvia watched Violet’s lonely retreating figure. All the medicine she had sent to Violet was returned. Violet also sent someone to warn her never to approach her again.
But Violet and her Alpha didn’t seem to have a good relationship; they were estranged and didn’t seem to love each other at all.
Silvia felt it wasn’t worth it for Violet. Looking towards the distant Long ling, she instructed the person next to her: “Find out the background of that little dragon and have someone teach her a lesson privately.”
She quickly straightened her suit, confirmed her appearance was impeccable, and walked towards Violet.
As Silvia was about to approach Violet, two burly, plainclothes Dragon Guards suddenly drew their swords and blocked her path.
The two Dragon Guards were quickly knocked down by Silvia. When she tried to pursue Violet again, Violet had already disappeared.
Not only that, but other plainclothes Dragon Guards, upon discovery, chased after Silvia.
No one paid attention to this brief interlude. The merchant selling monster meat, wearing old-style long military boots and a double-breasted coat with some bullet holes, along with a pirate hat, tossed large chunks of monster meat, bone and all, into a hollowed-out, burning wooden stump in the center.
As soon as the monster meat was exposed to the fire, its own fat caused the flames in the stump to leap up sharply. The crackling small sparks, viewed from a distance, rose with wisps of smoke, resembling fireworks being set off.
The merchant had about ten such stumps around him, each with monster meat placed inside. Without adding any seasoning, the aroma of roasted meat wafting from afar made people feels like they couldn’t move their legs.
Long ling was very interested in this grilling method and asked the monster meat merchant: “What kind of monster meat is this?”
The merchant suddenly saw two young and beautiful noble ladies standing before him, one with silver-white dragon horns on her head, and the other with cyan dragon horns, with a majestic, high-ranking woman with black dragon horns standing behind them.
He quickly said: “This is Rock Monster meat, it’s very delicious. One piece of meat is only five gold coins.”
These dragons are wealthy and can digest the residual magic in the monster meat. He once sold this monster meat to humans on the Brun Continent, which almost killed an entire village. Fortunately, a priest passed by, allowing him to be taken down from the gallows.
The merchant was very enthusiastic and quickly found the best-grilled Rock Monster meat. He lifted the iron hook on the stump, placed the Rock Monster meat on a plate, added a large spoonful of sauce into a small iron box, and included a knife and fork, presenting it all to Long ling on a tray.
Seeing that the monster meat had been delivered, Long ling gave the merchant five gold coins. The price of monster meat was slightly higher than ordinary meat, but still within an acceptable range.
She hadn’t seen this kind of sauce before; its deep red color looked like jam, but it smelled sweet and spicy. Long ling scooped up a small spoonful with a spoon and found that the sauce tasted quite good.
When Annie saw Long ling eat a bite of the sauce, she also took a small spoon to taste it and exclaimed: “It’s crunchy and makes a crackling sound when you bite it. What kind of sauce is this?”
The merchant said with a smile: “This is Dark Earth Lotus cut into small granules, mixed with chili and sweet fruit jam. It’s called Earth Lotus Chili Sauce, and you can dip the Rock Monster meat in it.”
Long ling was surprised to hear about the Dark Earth Lotus. The Earth Lotuses she and her mother bought from the dwarves were all sold to alchemists. She originally thought they could only be used as alchemy materials, but she didn’t expect they could also be used as seasoning.
Annie was eager to try it. She wanted to ask the merchant to cut the meat with a knife, but she noticed the merchant’s knife wasn’t clean and was covered in meat scraps, so she had to look at Long ling. “Sister Long ling, did you bring a knife?”
Long ling happened to be carrying the knife Aerith had given her. The elves’ craftsmanship was more meticulous than the dwarves. The knife Aerith gave her was very exquisite and sharp, making her cherish it, so she always carried it with her.
Long ling took out her knife, evenly cut the monster meat into small square blocks, and divided it into three portions. One portion was given to Annie first, and the other two were for her and Violet.
Violet looked at the knife Long ling used to cut the meat. The hilt was inlaid with a circle of blue gems at the end, and the blade was also polished with magic stones, shining with a blue, water-ripple-like luster under the light. It was extraordinarily luxurious.
This knife was not from her.
Violet frowned, watching Long ling carefully wipe the knife clean with a cotton cloth after cutting the meat before putting it back into the small bag she carried. She had never paid attention before, but now she found it an eyesore no matter how she looked at it.
Violet couldn’t help but ask, “Do you like this knife very much?”
Long ling tightened the drawstring of her small bag: “I like it quite a lot.”
The expression on Violet’s face was a little cold. She could probably guess who gave it to her. The little dragon didn’t have many friends, and the only one she missed while out was that elf. Not only did she accept the gift, but she also carried it with her all the time, making it hard not to feel like she was cherishing a memory of someone.
Did she forget who had been intimate with her?
Annie smelled the vinegar in the air and quickly picked up her portion of Rock Monster meat, eagerly starting to eat it.
Long ling felt the atmosphere around them was cold, but she didn’t pay too much attention. Violet didn’t like her being a small cook or letting her cook for others, so what was wrong with accepting a gift from a good friend?
She sat down at the small portable wooden table next to her and used a fork to taste a piece of the original flavor roasted Rock Monster meat first. The outside of the roasted meat was crispy, and the inner texture was very tender, somewhat like the texture of beef, and very chewy. After eating it, she felt full of strength.
Violet saw the little dragon eating happily, not caring about her feelings at all. She was different from the Long ling of the past, and a sense of disappointment arose in her heart.
However, she was currently pursuing Long ling and had told Long ling that she wanted to change, so she couldn’t be the same as before.
Violet sat down next to Long ling and asked calmly, “Is the monster meat delicious?”
Long ling saw a hint of loss in Violet’s usually arrogant eyes. She pursed her lips slightly, and her tone softened: “It’s delicious. It’s very chewy, and the texture is a bit like beef.”
Violet stared into her eyes, her voice a little low and husky: “Will you feed me? Can you?”
Long ling looked at Violet and naturally averted her gaze slightly: “There are many people here.”
She handed the other untouched portion of monster meat to Violet.
Violet’s eyes looked a little pitiful: “But I want you to feed me, Long ling. I was very unhappy just now.”
They had already broken up, hadn’t they? Was she saying this, expecting her to coax her?
Long ling did not respond.
Violet’s hand touched the corner of her clothes and gently shook it twice. She was like an arrogant little kitten, patting people with its soft paws. At a glance, the little kitten looked like it was about to fall to the ground and expose its soft belly to someone.
Long ling’s heart was softened even more by her shaking; she couldn’t resist the woman’s coaxing.
She forked a small piece of monster meat and brought it to Violet’s lips: “One bite.”
Violet moved forward, her red lips slightly parted, and immediately took the bite of monster meat. She rarely made such a cute gesture, which made Long ling pause for a moment, staring blankly at her rosy lips and the soft, red, agile tongue that flashed by.
Seeing Long ling’s blank look, Violet’s rosy tongue licked the corner of her lip again, making Long ling’s earlobes warm up.
Violet curved her red lips and pushed her luck: “Will you feed me again?”
Long ling was a little embarrassed: “No.”
Violet pulled her clothing corner again: “Was that knife the elf gave you?”
Long ling nodded slightly: “Aerith gave it to me. It’s very useful for cutting fruit and meat.”
Violet said softly: “I’ll find someone to make you a better one and give it to you. Can you use the other knife from now on?”
Long ling refused: “I already have a handy knife.”
Violet narrowed her eyes. The knife the elf gave her was handy, but the knife she was going to give was considered unhandy before she even used it, was it?
“A knife gets dull when used for a long time. If you keep using a gift others gave you, you’ll wear it out.”
Long ling glanced at Violet: “If it gets dull, I can polish and sharpen it.”
A smile lit up Violet’s eyes: “You can tell me anything you lack from now on, and I’ll give it to you. You can do whatever you want, and I won’t stop you.”
Long ling scoffed inwardly. Violet didn’t talk like this before and even argued with her several times. Now she said it as if it were true.
She forked a piece of monster meat and fed it into Violet’s mouth: “You should eat instead.”
Long ling and Violet finished the monster meat together and went to browse other stalls.
She browsed for a long time before settling on a coral ornament set. The outer casing was a moon shape crafted from a piece of colored glaze. When the switch was pressed, the hanging stars inside would flash brightly, and the little mermaid figurine dancing in the blue coral would emit beautiful and touching singing, almost identical to the performance she saw today.
Long ling thought that Aerith always lived in the deep, dark forest, dedicated to guarding the elf race, and had barely left home. As her friend, if she sent this gift to Aerith, Aerith would be able to see the same scenery as her.
Long ling bought it without hesitation. Because of its gorgeous appearance and complex craftsmanship, it cost ten thousand gold coins. She paid a deposit, and the balance was agreed upon for the merchant to collect at her tavern.
Since the ornament was valuable, the internal parts needed to be disassembled and packaged to prevent damage during transportation, and then reassembled upon arrival at the elf territory in the forest.
Long ling wanted to ask the shopkeeper for a piece of parchment and have him write down all the assembly steps. The shopkeeper was an alchemist, and he gave her a magic scroll, took out a magical feather quill, and wrote down the assembly steps, drawing pictures of each component.
“Open it when you get home and place it on the ground; it will turn into a golden arrow to guide you through the assembly.”
It was Long ling’s first time seeing such a thing as a magic scroll. It was different from common parchment. It was covered with exquisite magical runes and spells, looking very ancient, and the scroll was framed with some special metal ornamentation, feeling very textured to the touch.
This was the best after-sales service Long ling had ever seen, and she quickly put the precious magic scroll into her small bag.
Packaging still required some time. The shopkeeper, unprepared for a large client like her, had to go and borrow wooden crates from a familiar mage.
“Sister Long ling, doesn’t this pearl earring look nice?” Annie faced the mirror, wearing the earring, and asked Long ling after styling her hair.
Long ling casually said it looked good. She turned her head to the side and realized that Violet, who should have been next to her, was gone.
Her gaze involuntarily searched the crowd. Suddenly, she saw Violet talking to someone in a hidden corner.
