- Life After Being Claimed by the Disabled Dragon Lady
- Chapter 69 - Do you need my pheromones?
The climate in the City of Freedom was very hot. Many people on the beach wore swimsuits, lying on deck chairs to sunbathe, others were playing with surfboards, and some were playing ball in the distance.
Long Ling looked around curiously, and her aunties said they wanted to take her to play beach volleyball.
They quickly found a shop, and Long Ling was ushered into the fitting room.
She touched the few thin pieces of cloth and thought of having to go out wearing so little clothing. Her fair cheeks flushed all the way to her neck.
“Ling, aren’t you done changing? Second Auntie bought you a coconut milk ice cream; if you don’t eat it, it will melt.”
“No need, Second Auntie, you can have it.”
“Hurry up! We’re only missing you in our team.”
The “relaxing time” she envisioned was sitting in a scenic spot with her family, chatting, and enjoying local delicacies.
However, her athletic aunties had completely different ideas; they invited her to play beach volleyball.
But she had never played beach volleyball before, and she wasn’t sure if she could play well.
Long Ling looked at herself in the mirror. Her skin was fair and translucent. After being exposed to the sun for a while, it revealed a delicate, light pink hue. Her legs were slender and long, making her look tall and sexy.
The dragons in this place loved to show off their figures. She would wear this for now, hoping that no one would notice her.
Long Ling steeled her heart, changed her clothes, and walked out of the fitting room.
“Wow, great figure! You look quite slender, but you have abs, and muscle lines on your arms. We’re definitely going to win this volleyball match.”
The red-haired beauty embraced Long Ling and felt Long Ling’s abs along the way.
Long Ling blushed from Third Auntie’s touch and immediately pushed Third Auntie away.
Another curvy beauty, holding an ice cream, said with a smile, “Actually, your Third Auntie and I haven’t played beach volleyball in years, but your mom said you broke up and are in a bad mood, so you should get more exercise.”
Third Auntie sighed gently: “We all heard your mom and grandma arguing fiercely that day. We usually don’t dare to provoke your grandma, but your mom is the only one in the family who dares to rebel against anyone. But speaking of it, Duke Violet went too far by locking you up in the manor. You’ve suffered these past days.”
Second Auntie handed the ice cream to Long Ling and stroked Long Ling’s head: “The past is over. We’ve weathered the hardship and are on to better things. Have something to eat, and we’ll be on the court soon. You and Third Auntie are one team, and Rosalind’s Omega daughter and I are on the other.”
Long Ling was stunned when she heard there was another person.
Mo Dai walked over and said to her, “Rosalind and I were good friends when we were in school. Her youngest daughter, Annie, is the same age as you. Your young ones should have plenty to talk about.”
Thinking Mo Dai was going to introduce her to another Omega, Long Ling quickly refused: “Mom, I don’t want to start a relationship with any other Omega right now.”
Mo Dai opened her sunglasses and put them on Long Ling to try: “It’s just playing a game together, not asking you to start a relationship the moment you meet her. Her youngest daughter is very treasured and just came of age; she’s not in a hurry to marry either. Just get to know each other first.”
Long Ling breathed a sigh of relief. It was her first time wearing sunglasses; the whole world was tinted with a gray shadow, and she wasn’t quite used to it.
Mo Dai chose a cute bunny-style pair of sunglasses for her.
Mo Dai pressed her cheek against her daughter’s and chose a fox-style pair of sunglasses for herself.
“Doesn’t this one look pretty on Mom?”
“Very pretty.”
Mo Dai admired herself in the mirror for a couple of turns, took out several bottles of sunscreen from her bag, gave a bottle to each of her two sisters, and applied some to her precious daughter’s face and hands.
“If you can win later, great, but if you can’t, come rest by Mom. Your two aunties are just playing to keep you company, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, and don’t let yourself get sunburnt.”
Long Ling nodded obediently. After her mom applied a layer of sunscreen, the whole dragon was gleaming.
The two aunties looked at Mo Dai, who was doting on her daughter, and couldn’t help but tease: “Such a beautiful little dragon; with our family’s good genes, who would dare bully our little Ling? Annie will have to call Long Ling ‘Jiejie’ (older sister) when they meet. It’s just a friendly match.”
The outdoor sun was scorching. Long Ling followed her aunties to the beach volleyball court. There were quite a few dragons playing volleyball, and the court was almost full.
Not far away, a spunky girl with pigtails and a miniskirt was waving at them: “Over here, Long Ling Jiejie, Auntie Mo Dai, Auntie Xia Zhi, and Auntie Jin Se!”
The girl rattled off so many names without stopping for breath. Her lung capacity was excellent, and her skin was honey-colored, suggesting she exercised outdoors frequently.
“That’s Rosalind’s daughter, Annie. The one lying on the beach chair is Rosalind,” Mo Dai pointed the person out to Long Ling and led her over.
When Annie saw everyone approaching, she called Rosalind, who was lying on the deck chair, and walked over, pulling her mother’s hand.
After mutual introductions, Annie couldn’t wait any longer and pleaded, “Let’s play ball quickly! I’ve been waiting for you all for so long.”
Lady Rosalind patted Annie’s hand, clearly a little displeased with her daughter: “Look at your Long Ling Jiejie; she looks much calmer than you. All you think about is playing all day.”
Long Ling’s cheeks were slightly red: “It’s just because I don’t know how to play volleyball.”
Annie pouted at Rosalind, snorted with her arms crossed, and then turned to Long Ling with a smile: “I’ll teach you, Long Ling Jiejie. I know many ball sports. Let’s play together.”
Lady Rosalind wanted to lecture Annie a bit more, but Annie had already pulled Long Ling onto the court.
Mo Dai comforted her: “Annie is still young, anyway. No need to rush.”
Lady Rosalind shook her head helplessly: “Always so unrestrained. She doesn’t study hard when she’s in school. I wonder which Alpha will be able to handle her flighty temper in the future.”
Annie walked with Long Ling, full of energy, and explained the rules of the game to her.
Long Ling understood: you win by hitting the ball over the net and landing it in the opposing team’s court.
Most dragons were tall and slender, so the net was usually set quite high. Long Ling adjusted her hands into the hitting posture and started the game.
Long Ling stood at the front. Aside from the beginning when she was unfamiliar with the rules and Annie took the lead with two balls, she won back the next few points with her high, powerful spikes.
Annie was not the type to admit defeat; she played with increasing enthusiasm. She had highly skilled techniques and played back and forth with Long Ling. After a while, she was covered in sweat, and light cyan scales appeared on her neck.
Annie’s enthusiasm had just peaked, but Long Ling’s two aunties were “lazy beauties” and had to leave the court to do skincare.
Long Ling didn’t want to dampen Annie’s spirits, and she was starting to enjoy ball sports herself, so she and Annie continued to play solo.
Long Ling’s offensive play was fierce, but without Third Auntie’s combat strength and with her lack of experience, her defense seemed weak.
Annie, on the other hand, was a veteran beach volleyball player. Even with one less teammate, although her offense wasn’t as fast as Long Ling’s, her defensive awareness was strong.
She exploited Long Ling’s weakness, attacked strategically, and almost won the match.
The court grew hotter and hotter, attracting the attention of many dragons. Xia Zhi and Jin Se were already lying on the deck chairs drinking juice, discussing new beautiful gem rings with Mo Dai. Lady Rosalind was leisurely fanning herself.
Long Ling was playing with Annie when a flash in the corner of her eye caught her attention. She turned her head and suddenly saw a familiar figure in the distance.
She thought she had seen wrong when a ball suddenly smashed toward her.
Long Ling instinctively counter-attacked and hit the ball back with a thud.
Her shot was too fierce. Annie dodged it based on instinct but accidentally fell to the ground, crying out in embarrassment: “I don’t want to play with Long Ling Jiejie anymore!”
Long Ling saw Annie sitting on the sand, her hair messy, her apricot eyes teary. Already feeling guilty, she quickly went over to help her up: “Are you alright? I didn’t mean to do that.”
Annie huffed twice, her cheeks a little red: “I’m fine. Just help me rest over there.”
Seeing that Annie was pointing in the direction of the beach chairs, not far from here, where her mother and aunties were, Long Ling helped her over.
Annie sat down on the deck chair, drank a couple of sips of iced coconut juice, and felt better. She sweetly said, “Thank you, Long Ling Jiejie.”
Long Ling saw that her wrist was a little red: “You’re welcome. You need to put some medicine on your hand and rest for a while.”
Annie nodded: “Long Ling Jiejie, you should rest too.”
Mo Dai handed Long Ling a towel and offered to apply sunscreen: “It’s too hot here; you’ll get several shades darker in a moment. Hurry up and put some on.”
Long Ling was sweating a lot; sunscreen wouldn’t stick, but she still took the towel and sunscreen from Mo Dai.
The intense exercise had caused her adrenaline to rush. Although her heart was beating faster, her mind was in a relaxed state after sweating profusely.
Exercise was indeed a way to lift one’s spirits. If it weren’t for her aunties and Annie, she would never have encountered such an interesting thing.
In her former world, there were also Cuju (ancient Chinese football) matches, but only noble women in the capital could participate. This world was much freer; any dragon could find a field and start a match.
Long Ling rested long enough, put on a light jacket, and said to Mo Dai, “I’m going to find a restroom to wash up and will come back when I’m refreshed.”
Mo Dai nodded and instructed: “Come back quickly. This place is unfamiliar. Don’t wander off or get lost.”
Long Ling softly acknowledged and went to the nearest lounge.
She turned on the faucet and soaked the soft towel, intending to wipe her neck.
The weather was too hot, and her silver-white scales had appeared on her body. The icy towel was pressed against the back of her neck. After wiping several times, the burning heat in her body finally subsided, and she felt much more comfortable.
Staying with the Omega for too long had caused her pheromones to surge, pushing her close to a dangerous edge.
Fearing an accident, Long Ling opened her travel bag, took out several doses of inhibitors, and prepared to inject them one by one when she suddenly heard footsteps behind her.
She looked up at the mirror and saw Annie.
Annie saw that Long Ling was about to inject an inhibitor and felt a bit embarrassed: “Long Ling Jiejie, I came here to wash some fruit. Am I interrupting you?”
Long Ling tucked the inhibitors back into her bag and smiled faintly: “It’s okay. I’ll be done soon, too.”
Annie finished washing two apples and dried her hands: “Then I’ll head out first. Let’s eat apples together later, Long Ling Jiejie.”
Long Ling nodded: “Thank you.”
After Annie lightly left the restroom, Long Ling exhaled and quickly pulled out the inhibitors.
The inhibitors she carried were formulated by the Great Priest of the Elf Tribe, which were much better than those bought from a pharmacy. Long Ling quickly tore open the package and injected one dose into her body. The chilling scent of the falling forest rain made her agitated body become still again.
To be safe, she was about to inject the second dose when she was suddenly embraced in a soft hug.
“Why did you suddenly come here? Why aren’t you waiting for me in the tavern?” Violet’s breath brushed against her ear.
She had just injected the inhibitor and was starting to feel comfortable, but the rose-scented pheromone stirred in, instantly reviving the turmoil, making her body feel like it was simultaneously in ice and fire.
Long Ling’s cheeks flushed an unnatural red, and she immediately pushed Violet away.
She had waited for Violet for several days, but Violet never came to find her to retrieve the cloak, and now she was asking why Long Ling wasn’t waiting for her.
Long Ling’s tone was cold: “I don’t want to wait for you.”
She had just injected the pheromone, and her eyes were filled with shimmering light, making her voice husky even when she was angry.
Violet saw the inhibitor in her hand and couldn’t help but worry: “Is your rut period starting? Do you need my pheromones?”
Long Ling put the inhibitor back into her bag: “No.”
Violet recalled that Long Ling had just been helping that Omega, and as soon as that Omega left the restroom, Long Ling immediately went to inject the inhibitor.
She concealed intense sorrow in her eyes, picked up the towel Long Ling had placed nearby, and soaked it with water: “You’ve sweated a lot. Should I help you wipe off?”
Long Ling looked at Violet’s fair, slender fingers. The towel was soaked, and Violet hadn’t even wrung it out; water was still dripping, yet she was about to wipe Long Ling’s body with it.
Long Ling shook her head: “No.”
Violet held Long Ling’s hand, refusing to let her go, and looked at the sunscreen in her bag: “Then, do you want to apply sunscreen? Can I put it on for you?”
Violet opened the sunscreen, only dabbed a little with her fingertip, and was about to rub it on Long Ling’s face.
The cold finger touched her, smearing it haphazardly a few times. Long Ling felt her face had been smeared into a little calico cat by Violet.
Violet’s golden-amber eyes looked at her intently. Her gentle fingertips grazed Long Ling’s cheek, trembling slightly, and lightly rubbed her rosy lips a few times.
Long Ling had received blessings from the Mother Tree and had also learned some Elven magic from Shirley. She wanted to try if she could hear Violet’s inner voice again.
Just as she concentrated her mind, she suddenly heard Violet’s inner voice.
My little Strawberry Dragon doesn’t love me anymore. She doesn’t even want my pheromones.
