Let Me Go, My Childhood Sweetheart [Rebirth] - Chapter 48
Chu Weiran’s mood was visible; her eyelids drooped, and she was clearly unhappy. She couldn’t exactly go to the front desk and prove her “status” to the receptionists, so she wanted to vent her frustration on Jin Yi.
But Jin Yi had come all this way to give her such a grand surprise. How could she possibly have the heart to snap at her? She didn’t.
“What’s wrong?”
Chu Weiran pursed her lips and remained silent, then suddenly pulled Jin Yi into a hug. Her voice was muffled against Jin Yi’s shoulder. “I’m actually so happy you came to see me. But… I’m unhappy again because the front desk called me a ‘bottom’.”
Jin Yi didn’t fully understand the specifics of what had transpired, but if Chu Weiran was being called the bottom, did that make her the top? The thought made Jin Yi a little happy, and Chu Weiran, still holding her, could feel it. Jin Yi was stifling a laugh.
Chu Weiran immediately let go, her face darkening. “You! Are you here just to annoy me?”
She knew it wasn’t Jin Yi’s fault, but she still wanted to throw a tantrum. “Hmph! You aren’t allowed to wear such good-looking clothes when you go out anymore.”
Chu Weiran sized Jin Yi up and had to admit that this coat made Jin Yi look incredibly dominant. They were wearing matching trench coats, so why was the vibe so different? Was it the height? No, Chu Weiran was wearing heels.
Jin Yi felt a bit wronged being yelled at. “But you were the one who bought this for me.”
Chu Weiran was instantly speechless. Not knowing what else to say, she decided to just pivot to a compliment. “Fine, you look very good in it.”
Seeing her gift looking so striking on Jin Yi was, in truth, a very pleasant thing. Chu Weiran decided to forgive her. She reached out to take Jin Yi’s small suitcase, but Jin Yi sidestepped her. Jin Yi wrapped an arm around Chu Weiran’s shoulder. “Let’s go. Let’s head back to the room.”
The whole “top or bottom” debate wasn’t that important; after all, they both enjoyed themselves. There was no point wasting time on futile struggles.
As soon as they entered the room, Jin Yi was pinned against the door. Chu Weiran stood on her tiptoes, hooked her arms around Jin Yi’s neck, and kissed her directly. So what if she looked dominant? She was still her woman.
Chu Weiran helped Jin Yi out of the trench coat, tossing it carelessly onto the floor. She hung off Jin Yi’s body, and they remained entangled all the way to the bedside. Their breathing had long since become erratic. The small bun in Jin Yi’s hair came undone, her strands intertwining with Chu Weiran’s long hair.
Jin Yi naturally tried to press Chu Weiran down onto the bed, but Chu Weiran had the same idea. They reached a momentary stalemate.
“Phew… you went first last time. This time, it’s my turn,” Chu Weiran panted, tugging at Jin Yi’s clothes.
After that last video call, Jin Yi had been craving this for a long time. How could she give up the chance to taste the “delicacy” before her? “No, you were the one last time. It’s my turn now.”
Both craved each other’s warmth, and neither was willing to yield. They grappled back and forth, the room filling with ambiguous sounds. Chu Weiran, eager to redeem herself after being called a bottom, tried her best to take charge. However, her strength was simply no match for Jin Yi’s, and she quickly lost the battle.
Their clothes fell away, revealing every hidden beauty. She loved the way Jin Yi looked at her with such obsession, but she was equally obsessed with Jin Yi. Finally, to save face, Chu Weiran could only say, “Then I want to be on top!”
Chu Weiran’s face was flushed, her lips glistening, and certain parts of her body rose and fell with her heavy breathing. Jin Yi was more than ready to devour her. She would agree to any request. Besides, what was so bad about lying back?
She agreed readily. “Alright.”
An hour later, Chu Weiran lay flat on the bed, rubbing her aching waist. She felt a bit disgruntled. She was supposed to be the one enjoying it, so why did she feel so sore while Jin Yi looked absolutely revitalized?
Jin Yi was scrolling through her phone, deciding what to order for dinner. “What do you want to eat?”
“Whatever.”
“There is no ‘whatever’.”
“Then eat whatever you want to eat.” Chu Weiran had no energy left to think.
Jin Yi sighed, unable to even find the words to tease her. Chu Weiran was the one acting triumphant just a moment ago, yet now she was the one with the aching back and legs. Jin Yi slid under the covers and pulled Chu Weiran into her arms, gently rubbing her waist. “I’ll massage it for you. Just think about what you want to eat, okay?”
“Mm… I want noodles.”
Chu Weiran was clearly pacified. She loved Jin Yi’s hugs; they were healing. She suddenly regained a bit of spirit.
“What kind of noodles?”
“Beef noodles.”
“Okay.”
Since the delivery would take half an hour, they used the time to take a shower. Naturally, Chu Weiran tried to cause some trouble in the shower, but she was so exhausted that she didn’t last long. When they came out, she looked even more aggrieved.
“How about tomorrow? Let’s do it tomorrow, okay?”
Jin Yi didn’t know how she had so much patience for Chu Weiran, but seeing her unhappy made her want to do anything to fix it. “You promise?”
“I promise.”
Upon hearing the confirmation, Chu Weiran instantly smiled like a child, swinging Jin Yi’s hand back and forth. Seeing that smile, Jin Yi smiled too. If she had been with Chu Weiran in her previous life, would Chu Weiran have been spared so much unhappiness?
In the few social gatherings they had shared in the past life, Chu Weiran never looked truly happy. Especially after Jin Yi got together with Qin Chaomu, Chu Weiran became almost expressionless. Back then, Jin Yi saw it but chose to ignore it. She never wondered why Chu Weiran was unhappy, and she never thought that unhappiness had anything to do with her.
But now, seeing Chu Weiran smile so brightly, Jin Yi felt an immense sense of fulfillment. She brushed a stray hair from Chu Weiran’s face and kissed her gently. The kiss was sudden, and Chu Weiran froze for a second, her eyes going wide. Jin Yi thought it was adorable and kissed her again.
She never expected that a Chu Weiran in love would be this cute and soft. If she had known… she would have tried this in her past life too.
After the two kisses, Chu Weiran snapped out of her daze and naturally led Jin Yi to the sofa. She leaned against her and muttered, “I’m hungry. When is the food coming?”
Jin Yi checked her phone. “It’s downstairs. It’ll be here soon.”
“Oh.”
The food arrived shortly after. This particular beef noodle place was a discovery Chu Weiran had made a few days ago. Her assistant had bought it for her after a late night of overtime, and the taste had been unforgettable. The assistant was a local and a total foodie; she had been eating at this shop since it opened. Initially skeptical, Chu Weiran had only intended to grab a quick bite, but she was blown away by how good it was. She had been wanting Jin Yi to try it ever since.
“Is it good?”
“It’s great!” Jin Yi took a large mouthful of noodles. Because she was eating so heartily, some broth got on her face. Chu Weiran smiled and used a tissue to wipe her mouth.
“How old are you, eating like a little messy cat?”
This scene felt familiar. When Jin Yi had just started primary school and Chu Weiran was an older child, Jin Yi would often go to the Chu house for meals, and Chu Weiran would look after her just like this.
“Aren’t you hungry? Hurry up and eat, don’t just worry about me.” Jin Yi felt a bit shy and gave Chu Weiran’s hand a little nudge.
“Okay.”
After dinner, Jin Yi cleared the trash while Chu Weiran curled up on the sofa to handle some work. Since she hadn’t known Jin Yi was coming, she had to rearrange her schedule. She managed to cancel everything except for a meeting the following morning.
“Xiao Yi, I have to work tomorrow morning.” Chu Weiran’s voice was dejected. Jin Yi put down the trash, washed her hands, and joined her on the sofa, hugging her from behind.
“It’s okay. I’ll just sleep in, and you’ll be back before I know it.”
“But I want to sleep in with you.”
“Uh…” Jin Yi scratched her head, not knowing how to answer that.
Chu Weiran pinched her cheek. “Then wait for me like a good girl, okay? I’ll take you shopping in the afternoon.”
“Okay! I want to go to the Ancient City!”
“Deal.”
Jin Yi had been to the capital many times, but she visited the Ancient City every single time. That was where her dreams began. It was the awe she felt during her first visit to the Ancient City that sparked her deep interest in history.
They spent a little more time being affectionate before going to sleep in each other’s arms. Jin Yi’s body was very warm, and hugging her in the early winter was incredibly comfortable. Chu Weiran was exhausted and fell asleep in Jin Yi’s arms almost instantly. Gazing at her sleeping face, Jin Yi left a gentle kiss. She was looking forward to tomorrow.
When Chu Weiran woke up, Jin Yi was still sound asleep. However, as she tried to pull away from Jin Yi’s embrace, she felt Jin Yi give her a light tug as if she didn’t want her to leave, mumbling something incoherent. Chu Weiran let out a soft laugh, kissed Jin Yi’s cheek, and went to get ready.
In truth, she didn’t want to leave either. With Jin Yi there, she wanted to spend every second with her, but reality was cruel. While brushing her teeth, her mind was full of what delicious things to take Jin Yi to eat in the afternoon. It wasn’t until she was in the car and her assistant handed her the necessary documents that she snapped back into work mode. She needed to finish her tasks quickly so she could get back to Jin Yi.
Today, Chu Weiran was exceptionally efficient, and the meeting wrapped up around 11:00 AM. Jin Yi had woken up at 10:00 and sent her a message saying she would come to pick her up.
Under the confused gaze of her assistant, the cold and domineering President Chu transformed into a soft, affectionate woman the moment she saw Jin Yi, clinging to her waist. The assistant, forced to witness this display of public affection, felt a deep sense of suffering. It was almost too much to watch. To think she had recommended all those food spots to her boss, only to be rewarded with this!
The assistant wanted to slip away, but the two of them just hugged and waved goodbye, completely oblivious to her feelings. People in love really can’t notice anything else.
Jin Yi had bought tickets for the Ancient City earlier that morning. She was quite familiar with the place certainly more so than Chu Weiran, who had never been. Jin Yi happily took on the role of tour guide, telling Chu Weiran everything she knew about the history, regardless of whether she was actually interested.
As they passed a certain palace, Jin Yi stopped and said to Chu Weiran, “Ranran, it’s so good to be here with you.” Having her favorite person with her at her favorite place was the best thing in the world.
Chu Weiran saw the joy in her eyes and leaned in for a soft kiss. “As long as you like it, I’ll go anywhere with you.”
