Let Me Go, My Childhood Sweetheart [Rebirth] - Chapter 39
The atmosphere was awkward, to say the least.
However, the person feeling the awkwardness was Jin Yi; Chu Weiran didn’t seem to feel a thing. She even greeted Jing Miaomiao normally, though in a spot where Jin Yi couldn’t see, she silently mouthed the words: “LSP” (Old pervert).
Jing Miaomiao, the self-proclaimed “LSP,” shrugged, completely unbothered. Instead, she looked at Jin Yi with a teasing grin. “What kind of play are you and your Sister Weiran up to? Carrot play?”
Jin Yi’s face flushed crimson instantly. Wearing this outfit was humiliating enough; it was fine in front of Chu Weiran, but in front of Jing Miaomiao…
“I… um…” She didn’t know how to explain, so she could only look to Chu Weiran for help.
Compared to Jin Yi’s discomfort, Chu Weiran was perfectly composed. “Winter is coming, so I bought some pajamas for Xiao Yi. Why? Do you have a problem with that?”
Chu Weiran stepped in front of Jin Yi, shielding her. Although she wasn’t embarrassed, she only wanted Jin Yi to wear this for her eyes; she hadn’t expected Jing Miaomiao to come back at all.
“Didn’t you say you weren’t coming back tonight?”
“Oh, my date went out, and I felt bored, so I came back.” Jing Miaomiao spread her hands, looking somewhat exasperated herself.
Jin Yi felt a surge of annoyance upon hearing this—not for herself, but for her hopelessly smitten friend, Qu Yin. Qu Yin was usually so loud and boisterous, yet at the critical moment, she could only cry to Jin Yi about Miaomiao flirting with juniors. And here was Miaomiao, knowing Jin Yi’s friendship with Qu Yin, yet speaking so casually about “that person.”
Ignoring her ridiculous carrot pajamas, Jin Yi gently pushed past Chu Weiran to face Jing Miaomiao. “Senior, do you have a new girlfriend?”
“No.” Jing Miaomiao looked at Chu Weiran in confusion. Chu Weiran shook her head, just as puzzled.
“Then who was she?” Jin Yi wasn’t usually one to meddle, but Qu Yin had cried so hard. Besides, if Miaomiao was close with Chu Weiran, her character should be trustworthy. Jin Yi just wanted to know what was actually going on.
Upon hearing the question, Jing Miaomiao realized what she meant and slapped her thigh. “Oh! You mean that.”
“I only found out this holiday that I have a distant cousin studying at our school. As her older cousin, I naturally had to take her out for some fun.”
Once she started, Jing Miaomiao was like a faucet that couldn’t be turned off. “This cousin… she’s my mother’s second cousin’s granddaughter. She’s quite a distant relative, really; I only met her a few times when I was a kid.”
Deciding that standing was too tiring, she sat on her bed and gestured for the other two to sit as well. The three of them sat face-to-face as Miaomiao vented about her cousin.
“During the holiday, she looked like a total ‘good girl,’ standing shyly by her mom’s side, not even daring to laugh out loud. But today? Good lord, she’s a total socialite rebel. I offered to take her to dinner, and she said she wanted to bring her girlfriend along. What could I say? I said sure. We ate together, and then she sent the girlfriend away, saying she wanted to go to a club, and even went back to change her outfit.”
Jin Yi listened intently, wishing she had a bag of sunflower seeds. As if reading her mind, Chu Weiran actually produced a bag of seeds from nowhere. The three of them shared them as Miaomiao continued.
“I waited for her under her dorm. She changed fast—short skirt, black stockings, a tiny camisole. Tsk tsk.”
“It’s not winter yet, but it’s cold, right? That outfit was totally inappropriate. And her makeup was… intense. Most importantly, she completely misunderstood me. The way she talked to me made it sound like I was exactly like her. She didn’t hold back at all, even asked me if I had a girlfriend or boyfriend, and how many.”
“Tell me, isn’t this cousin wild?”
Jin Yi and Chu Weiran nodded in unison while cracking seeds.
Jing Miaomiao sighed. “I mean, I change girlfriends fairly often, but…” She suddenly remembered she was sitting across from her current partner’s best friend and stopped herself just in time. She turned to Jin Yi. “I have never cheated. It’s just that some people are great at the start, but after a while, it just doesn’t work out.”
You really can’t judge a book by its cover. Jin Yi reaffirmed this thought once again. When she first met Miaomiao, she was in a ladylike dress, making Jin Yi think she was actually a lady. Then she saw her with a girl in a JK uniform. And now… she realized Miaomiao was just very… authentic.
With the story over, Chu Weiran started ushering her out. “You didn’t say you were coming back, so I invited Xiao Yi over.”
“And?”
“And you should go find your girlfriend.”
Even though she knew Chu Weiran well, Miaomiao still felt a bit slighted. “Bros before… wait, sisters before misters? Fine, you’re choosing romance over friendship.”
“Go on, hurry, or the dorm will lock and you won’t be able to get in. And while you’re at it, explain that cousin situation to her.”
“Chu Weiran, I can’t believe how heartless you are!” Miaomiao grumbled, but Jin Yi saw her already putting her jacket back on. Chu Weiran handed her her bag without a shred of mercy. “I’m just doing what you always do to me—leaving me here alone.”
“Fine, fine. This humble servant takes her leave.” Jing Miaomiao threw on her bag and vanished.
Jin Yi, whose world-view had been shaken for the third time that night, was stunned. She had thought Miaomiao was the “cool older sister” type—at least on the outside. But in reality, she was a lot like Qu Yin.
“Do you two always interact like that?” Jin Yi asked, her expression slightly fractured.
Chu Weiran, completely used to it, grabbed her pajamas to head for the shower. “Yeah. I’m going to shower. Don’t you dare take those off. Wait for me.” She ran off with a cheerful skip.
Jin Yi, who had indeed been planning to strip off the carrot outfit, changed her mind. If it made Chu Weiran this happy, she could handle wearing it for one night.
While Chu Weiran showered, Jin Yi began drying her hair. Miaomiao’s sudden arrival had interrupted her, so her hair had been wrapped in a towel all this time. As she finished, she lay down on Chu Weiran’s single bed, feeling drowsy. Lately, she had been sleeping very well and felt tired easily. If she weren’t waiting for Chu Weiran, she would have been asleep already.
Chu Weiran emerged in a bathrobe, her hair still damp. She beckoned Jin Yi over to help her dry it. Jin Yi had no reason to refuse; drying her girlfriend’s hair was only right.
Chu Weiran’s hair was long and slightly wavy. As Jin Yi touched it, she thought back to her own hair. “I want to get a haircut.”
“A haircut? Changing your style?”
“Yeah, it’s a bit long. I want to go short.”
The hairdryer was buzzing loudly, so Chu Weiran didn’t hear clearly. She turned her head back to ask, “You want to change your style?”
It was fine when she was facing forward, but when she turned, the view inside the loose bathrobe nearly gave Jin Yi a nosebleed. A black lace nightgown with a deep V-neck, revealing snow-white skin and soft curves.
Jin Yi panicked and pushed Chu Weiran’s head back. “Turn back. We’ll talk in a bit.”
Drying hair was a simple task, but Jin Yi suddenly forgot how to do it. She kept the air focused on one spot until Chu Weiran’s scalp started to sting. Chu Weiran furrowed her brows but didn’t say anything, fearing she’d sound like she was scolding her.
Finally, Jin Yi finished. Both of them let out a sigh of relief.
Chu Weiran’s scalp was safe, and Jin Yi’s brain could rest. Even though Chu Weiran had turned back, Jin Yi—standing above her—could still see down the front of the robe. She was too embarrassed to say anything, so she just found herself staring blankly at the sight.
I’m officially a lost cause, she thought. She used to think she was “cold,” but now she wanted nothing more than to dive right in. What a sin!
“Let’s sleep,” Jin Yi said, her voice muffled. Chu Weiran thought she had upset her somehow and was busy worrying about that, completely forgetting she was wearing the special nightgown for a reason.
She didn’t even take off her bathrobe when she got into bed. It wasn’t until she’d been lying there for a while that she remembered. The room was pitch black except for the faint moonlight. You couldn’t see a thing. Chu Weiran reached out and clicked on the bedside lamp.
She glanced at Jin Yi, who had her back turned, then silently shed the bathrobe and reached out to hug her. Jin Yi knew the light was on, but she hadn’t expected the hug. During the holiday, they had slept in each other’s arms, but the view earlier had been so stimulating that Jin Yi had been too shy to reach out.
Now, being held by the soft Chu Weiran, she felt the pajamas were in the way. And so did Chu Weiran. As much as she liked the “cute” look, it wasn’t achieving her goal.
“I’m so cold. Hold me, okay?” Chu Weiran’s voice carried that signature coquettish lilt, soft and seductive.
Jin Yi couldn’t resist. She turned around to hold her, but she kept her eyes shut tight, afraid she’d lose control.
But Chu Weiran wasn’t going to let her off that easy. She wanted Jin Yi to lose control. She unbuttoned the front of Jin Yi’s pajamas and pulled her closer. Cool air hit Jin Yi’s skin, followed by something very soft.
Jin Yi snapped her eyes open. The visual impact was overwhelming. The black lace nightgown made Chu Weiran’s skin look even paler.
“You… mm…”
Chu Weiran didn’t give her a chance to speak. She claimed Jin Yi’s lips, her kiss as sweet and gentle as melting ice cream. The pajamas she had forced Jin Yi to wear were now being forcefully tugged away.
She rolled over to pin Jin Yi down, her kisses becoming dominant and intense on her lips, her ears, her nose. Jin Yi didn’t know where to put her hands, her eyes turning a deep red. She gripped Chu Weiran tightly.
Chu Weiran, straddling her, was incredibly assertive. Jin Yi’s head was spinning from the onslaught. She was shy about these things, but she wasn’t without desire. Now, she couldn’t hold back anymore.
Just as Chu Weiran was inches away from her goal, the positions were suddenly reversed. Jin Yi was now the one on top.
