Let Me Go, My Childhood Sweetheart [Rebirth] - Chapter 40
When the positions flipped, Chu Weiran instinctively closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she saw Jin Yi with the corners of her eyes flushed red, looking as though she were desperately restraining herself.
She reached her arms out to hook them around Jin Yi’s neck, pulling her down. She wanted her closer.
“Xiao Yi…” Her voice wasn’t its usual delicate sweet self; instead, it was husky. This kind of allure was clearly more potent. She saw Jin Yi swallow hard, the longing in her eyes undeniable.
The situation now was a bit different from what she had imagined. Although she had been the one seducing, the outcome she wanted wasn’t quite like this.
The hands pressing on Jin Yi’s neck exerted a little force, mimicking Jin Yi’s earlier movement, trying to flip her back over and pin her down. But she didn’t succeed. Jin Yi seemed to have set her resolve, refusing to be turned.
Jin Yi’s breathing grew increasingly rapid. Her gaze was fixed on the soft, white skin before her. The lace deep-V collar had indeed been her tactic, but not for this specific result.
The more she moved, the hotter Jin Yi’s gaze became. Jin Yi even licked her lips, her mind consumed by a single thought: To kiss her. To kiss her fiercely.
The moment she leaned down, Jin Yi took a deep breath. But a second later, her face turned beet-red. Her movements just now had followed her inner impulses entirely, and only now did she realize how bold and unrestrained she was being.
Chu Weiran’s arms were pinned high above her head. Her cheeks glowed with an unnatural flush, and she bit her lip, her eyes filled with accusation.
“Don’t…” The weak voice suggested that Chu Weiran was, to some extent, reluctant.
Jin Yi immediately let go and sat up straight. She looked down, not daring to meet Chu Weiran’s eyes, stammering an explanation: “I… I didn’t mean to. I don’t know what happened just now.”
Chu Weiran was left breathless by her antics, and she said rather irritably, “You idiot.”
She had just been teased into a state of excitement, only for this person to suddenly sit up. What was this? Was she trying to suffocate her?
“I am your girlfriend now. You can do whatever you want.”
The words were blunt. Chu Weiran felt Jin Yi must understand, but who would have thought Jin Yi’s mind was terrifyingly literal: “Even a girlfriend should mind her boundaries.”
Mind her boundaries?!
Chu Weiran was so angered by this that she narrowed her eyes in displeasure. Jin Yi was so intimidated by the look that she didn’t dare move, sitting there like a statue.
After a long while, it was Chu Weiran who yielded first, saying speechlessly, “With me, you don’t need to mind your boundaries. You can do whatever you want.”
“Really?” Jin Yi’s tone was cautious, but her eyes lit up—though the spark quickly faded. She shook her head. “I think this is… too fast.”
She was clearly craving it to death, yet she was being so duplicitous.
“If that’s the case, then let me go first, okay?”
“Eh…?”
Chu Weiran didn’t give her a chance to react. Taking advantage of her distraction, she leaned in and kissed her, trying to press her down. Jin Yi’s body was tense, and she didn’t budge.
“Be good. Big Sister will treat you well.”
Chu Weiran’s voice was gentle, and Jin Yi’s body unconsciously softened, allowing herself to be kissed. As they slowly entered the mood, Jin Yi started acting more and more “off.”
Her strength became terrifyingly high, and she flipped Chu Weiran over again.
“What are you doing…” Chu Weiran thumped her, a bit annoyed. She wasn’t allowed to lead, and she wasn’t allowed to follow either. It was infuriating.
She wanted to bite her, but she met a pair of bloodshot eyes. Jin Yi’s voice was dry and hoarse, as if she had been triggered by some intense stimulus. She kissed Chu Weiran’s eyes and whispered, “I can do it!”
Then, a burst of brilliant fireworks exploded in Chu Weiran’s mind. She could only cling to Jin Yi’s shoulders to find her breath.
Jin Yi was much more mature than she had imagined. She felt that she wouldn’t “suffocate” after all. She might even fall in love with this feeling.
Especially since the corners of Jin Yi’s eyes were shimmering with tears. Chu Weiran was certain that if Jin Yi exerted just a bit more effort, those tears would fall… likely landing on her heart. The hot, searing sensation would surely spread through her entire body until she spasmed.
The bedside lamp cast tangled shadows of the two of them onto the wall. An hour later, the room finally fell silent.
The two lay in bed, embracing. Chu Weiran looked as if she had been fished out of water, her hair plastered to her face. Jin Yi brushed it away and kissed her eyelid gently.
“Are you uncomfortable?”
Jin Yi herself felt the situation just now was quite mystical. she had been completely unable to control herself, knowing only how to bury her head and work hard.
Chu Weiran was exhausted. She closed her eyes in Jin Yi’s arms and whimpered, not wanting to speak or move. “So sleepy…”
“Don’t sleep yet. Wait a second.”
Jin Yi reached out from under the covers and came back with some tissues. “Shall I?”
Chu Weiran kept her eyes closed, unwilling to move. But the moment Jin Yi touched her, she snapped her eyes open and grabbed her hand. “I’ll do it myself.”
Jin Yi smiled and didn’t say a word. After some tossing and turning, both were exhausted and fell asleep in each other’s arms.
With “warm jade” in her arms, Jin Yi—who was rarely late—woke up late. When she woke, Chu Weiran was still sleeping, clutching her collar. Every time she moved, Chu Weiran moved with her, squeezing her toward the inside of the bed.
“Ranran, I have to go to class.”
“Mm… no class.”
Jin Yi, who never knew Chu Weiran could be this clingy, smiled and kissed her face, coaxing her: “I’ll come find you as soon as class is over, okay?”
Chu Weiran was a senior and barely had any classes, but Jin Yi was different. She had a major lecture this morning that she had to attend. “Be good.”
After a long time spent coaxing, Chu Weiran finally let go reluctantly, rolled over, and quickly fell back asleep. She was truly worn out.
Jin Yi rushed into the large lecture hall at the very last minute. The professor gave her a stern look. To anyone else, it wasn’t late, but for Jin Yi—who usually arrived early—this counted as being late.
She scanned the room and saw Qu Yin sitting in the back row, looking completely drained. It was as if she hadn’t slept all night. Her guess was correct; Qu Yin had been put through the wringer all night and hadn’t slept a wink. Compared to the glowing, high-spirited Jin Yi, she was indeed withered.
“What’s wrong with you?”
Qu Yin gave her a lifeless look and then turned her gaze away. “I’m annoyed.”
“Huh?”
Few people sat in the back row, so no one could hear them, but Qu Yin still checked her surroundings before speaking. “Last night, Miaomiao and I were like dry wood and a raging fire.”
“Uh…”
“I was the dry wood.”
“Oh.”
Knowing the conversation would end like this, Qu Yin rolled her eyes. Just as she was about to complain, she noticed faint red marks on Jin Yi’s neck. She was very familiar with those marks.
“Were you dry wood last night too?”
“Huh? What?”
Jin Yi had specifically brought clean clothes—a shirt and jeans—before going to Chu Weiran’s. She hadn’t expected last night to happen, so this shirt… was a bad choice. And she hadn’t even realized it.
Qu Yin pointed toward the unbuttoned part of the collar. “Right there…”
Before her hand could even reach, Jin Yi suddenly felt guilty. She covered her collar, looking like a total “bottom.” Qu Yin’s heart immediately felt much more balanced.
“You really were the dry wood.”
At this point, what else was there to say?
“No, I was the raging fire.” Those marks were left by an unconscious Chu Weiran last night.
“Go! Go sit in the front! Don’t disturb my sleep!” Qu Yin snapped like a ruffled cat. Jin Yi let out a quiet chuckle and obediently went to sit in the front.
Qu Yin spent the whole class catching up on sleep. It was Jin Yi who woke her up when class ended.
“Are we eating?”
“Eating…” It was a mumble; Qu Yin hadn’t fully woken up yet. She smacked her lips and prepared to go back to sleep. At that moment, Jin Yi felt a bit mischievous.
“Hey, should I call your girlfriend to wake you up?”
Qu Yin, who had been sleeping soundly, jolted awake. She sat bolt upright and wiped the drool from her lip. “I’m awake! Don’t call her.”
“Did you two clear up your misunderstanding?”
“We did.” As Qu Yin stood up, the physical reaction was obvious. She clutched her waist and followed behind Jin Yi, muttering curses at Jing Miaomiao.
The two left the classroom and headed toward the cafeteria. After a while, Qu Yin regained some energy and sidled up to Jin Yi piteously. “Your friend suffered a great ordeal yesterday. I want to eat something good today.”
Jin Yi remained expressionless. “Go find your girlfriend for food.”
“???”
“Ranran is waiting for me. I have to go.” During class, she had messaged Chu Weiran asking what she wanted to eat, and Chu Weiran said pizza. Jin Yi had no afternoon classes, so she was going to pick her up.
“Hey! Can you stop choosing romance over friendship?!”
“Weren’t you the one doing that before?”
Qu Yin was left speechless. Just as she was about to retaliate, they heard a clear female voice: “Junior Jin…”
Both turned around. The person looked familiar, but they couldn’t quite place her.
“You are…?”
“I am Zhai Xiao.”
The senior from the Archaeology department, Zhai Xiao. Both girls snapped back to reality and greeted the senior with a smile. Then, they didn’t know what to say. This person was clearly there for Jin Yi. Qu Yin didn’t know what to say either. If it were anyone else, she might have left first. But this was Jin Yi! She just got together with Chu Weiran—how could she be allowed to stray? Her OTP must not go “BE” (Bad End)!
“Junior, I added you on WeChat before. I have a few questions I want to discuss with you… privately.”
As soon as she said this, Qu Yin curled her lip. Discussing questions is one thing, but ‘privately’? Clearly up to no good. She poked Jin Yi, reminding her to mind her boundaries, her eyes darting toward Zhai Xiao.
Zhai Xiao was average-looking but tall with good proportions, mostly dressed in casual wear. With her long, curly hair, she looked quite cool. Qu Yin had heard her reputation wasn’t great. However, she had many admirers; many people regarded her as the “Top Tier Choice” (Tian Cai) for the lesbian circle in the Archaeology department. Some even exaggeratedly called her the Top Tier Choice for the whole of Ling University.
But Qu Yin didn’t think so. In her mind, the top tier choices were Jin Yi and Chu Weiran. That’s why she was overjoyed they were together. Zhai Xiao didn’t know Qu Yin’s thoughts, nor did she care. She smiled at Jin Yi. “Junior Jin, do you have time?”
She possessed a mysterious self-confidence, but she was very polite, and her tone was poised. Yet, her intention was very clear.
“Sorry, Senior. I don’t have time.”
“Then when will you be free? I’ll come find you then.”
“No, I—”
“All her time is spent accompanying me.”
In the middle of their standoff, a seductive female voice suddenly rang out. Chu Weiran had appeared behind them at some unknown point.
