It Seemed My Fiancé Hated Me, So I Distanced Myself—But for Some Reason, He Complained - Chapter 30
“Thank you. However, I haven’t officially decided to become engaged to His Highness yet.”
“Don’t worry! If it’s Lady Clarissa, I’m certain you’ll make a wonderful queen!”
When one maid said this, the other two nodded in agreement.
Among them, it seemed like my becoming Prince Lucas’s fiancée and future queen was already a done deal. I couldn’t help but feel like I was deceiving them.
As for His Highness, he merely listened to the maids’ conversation with amusement and made no particular effort to correct them.
While I was hesitating about what to say, one of the maids spoke up.
“But I must say, I’m relieved that Lady Clarissa has come. I was trembling with fear at the thought that woman might become the crown princess.”
At her words, the other two maids also turned pale and nodded.
I tilted my head, wondering who this “woman” could be. Just as I was about to ask Prince Lucas, he spoke to the maids with an exasperated expression.
“Please stop believing such foolish rumors. Before meeting Clarissa, I never even considered becoming engaged to anyone. More importantly, please show Clarissa the dresses right away.”
“My apologies, Your Highness.”
At Prince Lucas’s words, the maids immediately sprang into action.
I was curious about who “that woman” was, but before I could ask, I was whisked away into the dressing room.
The dressing room connected to the previous chamber was so enormous that one could practically live in it. Several dazzling dresses were displayed along the walls.
“I prepared all of these for you, Clarissa.”
Prince Lucas smiled at me as I stood there dumbfounded.
“Such gorgeous dresses are too extravagant for me…!”
“Please don’t say that, I want you to accept them. I’m sure any of them would look wonderful on you, Clarissa.”
His Highness spoke with a cheerful expression. I was already overwhelmed just by having a room prepared for me, and now being shown so many dresses made me feel dizzy.
“Lady Clarissa, let’s try one on right away! How about this one?”
“I think this blue dress would suit Lady Clarissa perfectly!”
“No, I believe this red dress would be better!”
The three maids approached me with dresses in hand, closing in eagerly. When I looked at Prince Lucas as if pleading for help, he simply laughed.
