- Chapter 5 - Love at First Sight
Back in the villa’s garden, Lu Li’s grand agricultural empire was already yielding its first massive success.
Staring at the vibrant, plump crimson tomatoes hanging from the vines, he couldn’t help but swallow his saliva. Tomato scrambled eggs, here I come!
“Yuanyuan, go onto the Star Network and purchase some star-beast eggs, star-beast meat, and every single type of seasoning available on the market,” Lu Li ordered, rubbing his hands together in pure, unadulterated excitement at the thought of a proper meal. “Chef Lu is about to show this universe how it’s done! Oh, and grab some staple grains if they have any.”
Humming a tune, Lu Li strolled into the kitchen. The developer had left the place fully furnished with state-of-the-art culinary tech. As he was familiarizing himself with the induction panels, the perimeter chime rang. Perfect, the groceries are here.
With his workstation fully prepped, it was time to cook.
Lu Li skillfully sliced the star-beast meat into uniform pieces and tossed them in a rich marinade. While letting the proteins absorb the spices, he washed the freshly harvested greens and diced them into clean, even segments.
Whisking the massive star-beast eggs, he fired up the wok. Under the practiced hand of a seasoned survivor, a modest yet flawless three-course meal and a soup quickly took shape.
As the pans sizzled, the kitchen filled with an intoxicating, rich aroma the kind of fragrant, mouth-watering scent that only comes from combining fresh, earth-grown ingredients with flawless heat control.
“Ah, now this is food!”
Tasting the deeply familiar flavors of his homeland in this alien dimension, Lu Li felt so incredibly moved he could have shed a tear.
Once he finished wiping his plates clean, he immediately pulled up his banking terminal and emptied his remaining meager savings on an absolute shopping spree for new seeds. Buy, buy, buy! Put that in the cart, grab that one too… I’m about to become a multi-billionaire anyway.
As he scrolled, he could practically visualize mountains of cosmic credits flying into his pockets from every direction.
“Master, what are you scheming?” Yuanyuan piped up, rolling past the dining counter. “Your smile is stretched so wide it’s about to hit your temples.”
“Nothing, Yuanyuan. Just visualizing my glorious future! Hahaha!”
Once the excitement passed, a wave of profound exhaustion washed over him likely a lingering side effect of surviving the spacetime rift. Leaving Yuanyuan to police the kitchen, Lu Li headed upstairs to his bedroom to get some deep rest.
The following morning. Outside the gates of the Imperial Marriage Registry.
Despite his deep initial reluctance, Lu Li had dragged himself out of bed early and made sure to arrive ahead of schedule. After all, he was the one taking a partner; it wouldn’t do to make his future spouse wait. A proper gentleman always arrives first!
Since he was a bit too early, he had nothing to do but lean against the courtyard railing, casually scanning the incoming hover-transports.
Suddenly, a tall, commanding figure cut through the crowd and stepped into his line of sight.
The man looked like an ethereal elf stepped out of an ancient myth, completely commanding the gravity of the courtyard the moment he arrived.
A waterfall of cascading silver hair tumbled past his shoulders, soft, lustrous, and shimmering under the morning light. As a gentle breeze caught the strands, it lent him an otherworldly, sacred aura.
But it was his eyes that truly stole the breath from Lu Li’s lungs. A striking pair of blue-purple heterochromatic eyes sat like flawless, unmatched gemstones within a sculpted, pristine face, gleaming with a sharp, captivating brilliance.
His features were sharp, refined, and aristocratic. To put it simply he was engineered entirely to Lu Li’s exact aesthetic preferences.
Oh, gods… Lu Li stood entirely frozen, his brain short-circuiting under the sheer impact of such concentrated beauty.
How could someone this gorgeous exist? How could every single line of a person’s face align so flawlessly with everything he found attractive?
Max points! Instant ten out of ten! Lu Li’s internal thoughts were screaming. This is it. This is my absolute, hand-delivered, soulmate of a wife!
As Asayer approached the young Male, his initial military assessment was surprisingly positive. The Male standing before him lacked the typical bloated, decadent look of capital nobility who drowned themselves in alcohol and indulgence.
Furthermore, his aura was remarkably warm and refined, completely devoid of that insufferable, arrogant haughtiness common among high-tier Males.
The young Male stood at roughly 1.8 meters noticeably taller than the average Zerg Male and radiated a vibrant, youthful energy that was exceedingly rare in the capital.
As the sunlight filtered through the morning clouds, it illuminated his slightly boyish yet exceptionally handsome features. His dark eyes were deep, clear, and bright, and his short black hair looked clean and sharp, the messy tips hinting at a lively spirit.
Wearing a genuine, bright smile that resembled the morning sun, he radiated a natural warmth that made it impossible not to look at him.
Knowing that etiquette dictated a Male would never lower himself to speak first, Asayer took the initiative. “Good morning, My Lord. I am Asayer, your assigned partner for today’s registration.”
After a grueling night of contemplation, Asayer had forced himself to accept his reality. He couldn’t defy the Imperial Mainframe, and he had to protect his family’s standing. He would complete the registration first and navigate the battlefield of his domestic life one step at a time.
Once the marriage certificate was bound, he would use every diplomatic chip, resource, or trade at his disposal to convince this Male to grant him permission to remain with his fleets.
Hearing the cool, rich, and deeply magnetic baritone voice, Lu Li snapped out of his trance and scrambled to respond. “Hello, hello! I’m Lu Li.”
Feeling a sudden wave of awkwardness this being his first time getting hitched, after all Lu Li rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “Should we… head inside to get the paperwork sorted?”
“Very well, My Lord. Let us proceed,” Asayer replied smoothly, stepping up to walk alongside him.
The two walked side by side into the sprawling registration hall, where an administrative clerk immediately stepped forward to guide them. “Honorable Lords, please follow me to the private signing salon.”
As they walked down the corridor, Lu Li kept stealing sideways glances at his new partner. Man, my wife really is an ice prince. No problem. I’ll just have to be his personal radiator and melt that icy exterior completely.
At the same time, Asayer was quietly evaluating Lu Li’s behavioral patterns, trying to discern whether this gentle, unassuming demeanor was a carefully calculated facade or his genuine nature.
When the digital registration console displayed the relationship status fields offering the standard tiers of Female Sovereign (First Wife), Female Consort, and Female Servant. Lu Li didn’t hesitate for a fraction of a second. He firmly tapped the box designating Asayer as his Female Sovereign.
He had absolutely no intention of collecting a harem of spouses. One perfect wife was more than enough, and he wasn’t about to let any future additions slide in and make his general’s life miserable.
Anxious that Asayer might misunderstand his intentions, Lu Li turned to face him, his expression intensely earnest as he declared his absolute loyalty:
“Fiancé… don’t worry. I am going to treat you incredibly well. You will be the only partner I ever have in this life, and as long as I am standing, I promise no one will ever be allowed to look down on you or bully you.”
As Lu Li spoke, his dark eyes sparkled with a profound, unblinking clarity, like a brilliant shooting star cutting through the dark cosmos sharp, radiant, and striking directly into Asayer’s vision.
For a split second, Asayer felt a sudden, unfamiliar tremor deep within his chest. But his ironclad military discipline clamped down on the emotion instantly, and his gaze reverted to its typical cool, unreadable composure.
Sweet words and a slick tongue, the Admiral noted internally.
“It is far too early for the Imperial Lord to make such absolute declarations,” Asayer replied, his voice cool and detached. “The future is vast, and you have yet to encounter the fragile, submissive civilian Females of the Capital Planet. It is best to save those promises for a later date.”
Hearing his sincere vow dismissed so easily, a flash of visible disappointment crossed Lu Li’s features. Ah, my wife really doesn’t trust me at all.
But his spirits didn’t stay down for long. Actions speak louder than words anyway. I’ll just have to show him exactly what kind of partner I am, and win his heart fair and square.
