- Chapter 4 - The Perfect Match
Rewind the clock by exactly fifteen minutes.
At that moment, the headquarters of the Male Protection Association was deadlocked in a state of fierce, chaotic debate.
“One hundred percent?! How is that scientifically possible? The compatibility rating between Lord Lu Li and Admiral Asayer is a flawless one hundred percent!”
“Quick, notify the Chairman immediately!” the database technician shouted, his hands shaking over the console. “The Empire hasn’t seen a perfect one hundred percent compatibility match in generations!”
“The Chairman is on deck!”
Having caught wind of the anomalous transmission, Frodi rushed into the laboratory. Standing before the monitors and viewing the diagnostic confirmation with his own eyes, even the highly refined Chairman was left profoundly shaken.
This was the very first absolute maximum-threshold compatibility match discovered within the Zerg race in nearly a century.
“Dispatch courier teams to notify Lord Lu Li and Admiral Asayer at once. No, wait I will deliver the official notice to the Male Lord personally,” Frodi commanded.
Before the words could even settle, Frodi strode out of the Association facility, a cohort of elite Female guards following tightly in his wake.
Meanwhile, back at the villa, Lu Li had just finished his morning meal. Wanting to move around a bit to digest his heavy breakfast, he didn’t command Yuanyuan to handle the door when the perimeter chime rang. He walked over and pulled open the double doors himself.
The moment the doors parted, a distinctly familiar face filled his vision.
“Good morning, Lord Lu Li,” Frodi greeted him smoothly, offering a deep, respectful bow. “We have arrived on behalf of the Crown to formally deliver a high-priority societal update.”
“The central processing mainframe completed your calculations this morning. Your compatibility rating with Admiral Asayer is a flawless one hundred percent. Please report to the Imperial Marriage Registry tomorrow morning to finalize your legal union.”
Bringing the timeline back to the present.
Lu Li stood entirely frozen, utterly blindsided by the sudden realization that he had just been assigned a spouse overnight.
“What?! Meaning I suddenly have a wife?!”
Observing Lu Li’s profound bewilderment, Frodi didn’t indulge in unnecessary pleasantries. He kept his delivery concise and absolute.
“Yes, My Lord. This is a mandatory calculation executed by the central mainframe. A one hundred percent compatibility rating is a legendary rarity. The Association expects your punctual arrival at the registry bureau tomorrow.”
Lu Li’s mind fiercely rebelled against the reality of the situation. He was a perfectly healthy, modern young man who had just landed in an alternate dimension, and by day two, the local government was forcefully hand-delivering him a spouse. Who could possibly accept this without an existential crisis?
This was his very first encounter with a legally mandated arranged marriage.
“Is it possible for me to decline?”
“That is completely out of the question, Your Grace. It violates the core mandates of the Imperial Mainframe System.” Frodi’s polite but unyielding words shattered the last remnants of Lu Li’s wishful thinking.
Noticing the visible look of defeat on the young Male’s face, Frodi offered a rare word of comfort:
“My Lord, I suggest you reconcile yourself to this reality as quickly as possible. Admiral Asayer is of exceptionally noble lineage and possesses a flawless, legendary beauty. Throughout the Capital Planet, he is considered the dream partner of countless insects.”
“I must depart to deliver the parallel notice to the Admiral’s estate. Farewell, My Lord.”
With that final bureaucratic formality, Frodi turned and guided his subordinates away from the villa grounds.
Lu Li stood entirely frozen on the threshold, his spirit practically leaving his body.
“Yuanyuan… tell me the truth. Is it possible for me to pack up and run away?”
Hearing its master’s desperate inquiry, Yuanyuan’s dome head tilted with absolute certainty. “That is not possible, Master! The Imperial tracking matrix is absolute; you cannot escape.”
Ahhhhhhh! What a completely absurd life! Lu Li roared in absolute fury within his internal thoughts.
After standing frozen in silent despair for a few more moments, he forced his awareness back to reality. Shaking off the panic, he turned to the domestic robot.
“Let’s go, Yuanyuan. Take me to the garden. Let’s see if we can actually sprout these vegetable seeds first.”
After all, across any universe, food was the ultimate foundation and capital was the ultimate lifeline. He needed to verify the long-term viability of his agricultural empire before dealing with a surprise marriage.
Lu Li directed Yuanyuan to extend its mechanical automation arms, tilling a series of precise shallow furrows into the rich earth. Lu Li walked alongside the lines, dropping the raw seeds into the furrows before having Yuanyuan carefully sweep the topsoil back over them.
Once the planting was secure, he summoned his internal Wood-element core. Slowly, under the careful focus of his willpower, vibrant green sprouts ruptured the dark earth, uncoiling into the morning light.
“Master! It worked! Master is truly magnificent!” Yuanyuan whirred, spinning its wheels to cheer him on.
“Just keep watching,” Lu Li grinned, his confidence returning. “Your master is capable of far more than this.”
Seizing the momentum, he pushed his abilities a step further, funneling a concentrated surge of pure, refined bio-energy into the young roots.
In a matter of breaths, the flora underwent an accelerated evolutionary cycle. Stems and leaves extended rapidly, thickening and multiplying across the soil. Within moments, clusters of perfectly round, brilliant crimson tomatoes hung heavy from sturdy vines, while rows of pristine baby bok choy and lush lettuce leaves reached peak structural maturity.
Meanwhile, at the Kellian Fortress.
The moment Asayer descended the grand staircase, the muffled audio of the head butler receiving a formal delegation caught his attention.
Noticing the young master’s approach, the butler hurried to the foot of the stairs. “Second Young Master, you’ve finally come down. The Chairman of the Male Protection Association is currently in the reception hall with an urgent imperial directive for you.”
The Chairman of the Association? Asayer’s brow furrowed slightly. Why would an official of Frodi’s standing personally breach our estate gates without a prior formal request? What catastrophic incident could have possibly transpired?
Sifting through the variables, Asayer walked into the main parlor, his voice steady and cold. “Chairman Frodi, good morning. May I inquire as to what requires your personal presence?”
“Admiral Asayer, the Imperial Mainframe generated a mandatory matching sequence early this morning. Your compatibility rating with the newly registered Lord Lu Li has stabilized at a flawless one hundred percent. The Crown commands your presence at the Marriage Registry tomorrow morning to finalize your legal union.”
The moment the words registered, every ounce of color instantly drained from Asayer’s face. He stood frozen, entirely unable to comprehend the reality of the statement.
His hands clenched into tight fists at his sides, his fingernails digging so deeply into his palms that the sharp sting of physical pain was the only thing keeping him grounded. He was desperately wishing this was a symptom of a psychic nightmare.
How could this happen? How could a Male suddenly manifest with a perfect one hundred percent compatibility rating to my specific genetic sequence? Is the universe playing some twisted joke on my life?
Why must I be forced into subservience to another selfish, tyrannical Male? Asayer’s powerful frame trembled minutely, a cold dread wrapping around his spine.
His thoughts immediately flashed to his elite comrades in the military formidable, brilliant officers who had won grand campaigns, only to be legally claimed by domestic masters, locked away within private estates, their wing-bones brutally snapped and bodies marred by unchecked violence.
He felt as though his entire soul was being torn into ragged fragments, the sheer, suffocating weight of the realization making it difficult to draw breath.
“Thank you for your service, Chairman Frodi,” Asayer forced out, straining every fiber of his military discipline to maintain a calm facade as he saw the delegation out.
The old butler, having witnessed the entire exchange, looked at his young master with profound worry. He rushed to his side, his voice cracking with anxiety. “Second Young Master, please do not despair! I will go summon the Lord Consort and General Venus immediately. They treasure you so deeply; they will surely find a legal loophole or assemble a political alliance to contest this!”
“Asayer, my precious child, do not weep!” Venus’s voice cut through the hall. Having caught the security alert, he rushed into the parlor, his heart breaking at the sight of his younger son. “I will immediately deploy intelligence teams to thoroughly dissect this Male’s background. If he dares to inflict even a shred of harm upon you, your fathers will personally tear his estate to the ground!”
Venus’s voice was thick with maternal fury and grief but deep down, he knew the terrifying reality. This was a direct, automated command from the Imperial Mainframe. If the compatibility had been even a single percentage lower, their clan’s vast political and military leverage could have contested it. But a perfect one hundred percent match was treated as an absolute state survival mandate. There was no legal recourse.
Asayer reached out, gently gripping his Mother’s hand where it rested trembling against his shoulder.
“Mother, it’s alright,” Asayer responded, his voice sounding hollow, heavy, and unnaturally deep. “I would like to return to my quarters to process this alone. Please request a leave of absence on my behalf from military headquarters for today. No… make it a two-day leave. Tomorrow’s registry process will require my full presence.”
Returning to his private suite, Asayer collapsed onto the vast bed, staring numbly at the high, vaulted ceiling.
Is my life truly forfeit? Am I to be legally shackled to a Male, doomed to survive a stagnant, predictable existence within the walls of a domestic cage? What becomes of my campaigns? My ambitions? My lifelong ideals?
No… it cannot end like this. I refuse to let it break me.
As his thoughts spiraled into darkness, a soft knock echoed against his bedroom door. Venus’s muffled voice carried through the wood paneling, filled with a desperate attempt to offer solace:
“Asayer, my darling, listen to me. I have just run a subterranean scan on the Male’s imperial file. His name is Lu Li, and he was only recently retrieved from a desolate frontier planet. Because he didn’t undergo upbringing within the toxic, pampered culture of the Capital Planet, he hasn’t been infected by the typical vicious vices of high-tier Males.”
“Your life under his roof may not be as bleak as you fear. Furthermore, with the full backing of the Kellian Clan, we will ensure you retain your commission at military headquarters. You will still be allowed to command your fleets and exercise your brilliance.”
“Mother, I hear you,” Asayer’s voice drifted out from the quiet room, heavy and muffled against the pillows. “Please return to headquarters first. I simply wish to be left with my thoughts for a while.”
