I’m Addicted to your Pheromones from the First Moment We Met - Chapter 35
Unlike what Yu Zhouyao had imagined, Mu Mingyue’s home wasn’t a sprawling estate spanning thousands of acres; it was a simple, standalone villa. Nor did they have thousands of servants milling about.
Turning left and right through the garage, they arrived at the drawing room. Mu Mingyue pushed open the door and called out, “Mom, Yu Zhouyao is here!”
“Oh, you’ve finally arrived.” The voice was pleasant and melodic. Yu Zhouyao guessed this was Mu Mingyue’s mother.
A lady walked out, dressed simply but possessing a unique, refined aura. Her features were a near-perfect match for Mu Mingyue’s. Or rather, the daughter took after the mother.
Yu Zhouyao immediately switched into her polite social mode. “Hello, Ma’am. I’m Yu Zhouyao. I’m sorry to intrude on you today.”
The lady chuckled behind her hand. “Oh, it’s no intrusion at all. I’m very happy that Mingyue brought a friend over. Come in, come in.”
She led them to the living room, where a fruit platter was already laid out. “It’s all freshly cut. Xiao Yu, take whatever you like, don’t be shy.”
“Thank you, Ma’am.”
Mu Mingyue leaned in and whispered, “Zhouyao, are you still nervous?”
“…A little.”
Mu Mingyue chuckled. “Then have some watermelon. This variety is excellent juicy, sweet, and seedless.” She handed Yu Zhouyao a toothpick.
They made small talk in the living room for a while, sticking to common topics, until the doorbell rang and Pei Xian walked in.
“Ah, Xian’er is here. The girls just arrived,” the mother said.
Dr. Pei leaned casually against the back of the sofa. “Morning, you two.” Her gaze drifted over Yu Zhouyao with a faint, unreadable look.
Once everyone was present, the mother formally opened the discussion. “Zhouyao, Pei Xian told me about your ideas. I found them very interesting and quite innovative. After looking into some papers, Xian’er also agreed that the theory is feasible. We’ve invited you here today to help her with some tests. Don’t be nervous; just treat it like visiting a friend’s house.”
Dr. Pei picked up the thread. “Mhm, we finally managed to get the equipment. We just need to run some tests.”
“Whenever you’re ready,” Yu Zhouyao replied.
Pei Xian smiled. “Shall we head to the training grounds now?”
Despite the Mu residence not being massive, the entire first basement level was a dedicated training facility. Yu Zhouyao’s eyes widened at the rows of glowing mechas.
“Do you like them?” Mu Mingyue asked.
“I love them. I really love them,” Yu Zhouyao blurted out without thinking. Then, she quickly added, “I mean the mechas! Just looking at the frames, you can tell they’re brand new and top-tier. I’ve never touched anything this good at school.”
Mu Mingyue smiled. “A large portion of these are the Mu family collection some left by my mother, and a few that my aunt used before they were retired. They’re definitely better than the school ones. If you like them, feel free to touch them as much as you want later.”
“Are there any intelligent mechas here?”
“Yes.”
“Can I try one later?”
Dr. Pei chimed in, “Of course. We were planning to use an intelligent mecha for the testing anyway.” She pushed a device forward, followed by a sleek mecha. “Zhouyao, we’ll use this one for the dynamic mental power test. But first, let’s do a static one.”
Yu Zhouyao placed her hand in the slot, slowly releasing her mental power. Pei Xian monitored the results. “Mhm, same as before. Low frequency and stable. Alright, time to board.”
She tossed a set of keys to Yu Zhouyao. “Input your bio-info into the starter first. Once it’s recorded, you can activate it.”
A few seconds later, the key flashed red, signaling success. As Yu Zhouyao settled into the cockpit, the mecha’s voice broadcasted:
“Pilot Yu Zhouyao, hello. It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Luna. This unit is a Combat-type K-990, equipped with an electromagnetic cannon as its primary weapon. Per Marshal Mu’s instructions, I will assist you in this dynamic mental power test. For safety, weapon output is capped at 30%. Do you have any questions?”
Luna’s voice was steady and devoid of emotion. Compared to the “Grandma Mecha,” she was chillingly professional.
“No questions. I’m just a little curious, Luna. Are you always this cold?”
“Cold? Luna does not believe herself to be cold; Luna is simply executing her mission faithfully. If you dislike this style, I can mimic others. Pilot Yu Zhouyao, would you prefer: Sweet and Cute, Pure and Natural, Greasy and Obscene, or Violent Psychopath?”
“No, no! None of those. Just stay as you are.”
Yu Zhouyao took a deep breath and closed her eyes. Her consciousness dove into the deep sea, and she established a link with Luna. Following the mecha’s guidance, she performed several rounds of tests—shooting at static and dynamic targets while alternating her mental frequencies.
“Analysis complete. Results sent,” Luna announced. “Pilot Yu Zhouyao, you may depart.”
The moment Yu Zhouyao climbed out, Mu Mingyue ran toward her and pulled her into a tight hug.
“Yu Zhouyao…” Mu Mingyue’s voice was thick with emotion.
Yu Zhouyao didn’t know the exact results yet, but seeing the young miss like this, there had to be good news. She gently patted the girl’s back. “I’m here.”
Mu Mingyue straightened up slightly, tears of relief in her eyes. “Zhouyao, thank you. Based on the observation and data analysis your theory is correct. Your method is effective. It’s the first time in so many years that I’ve seen..Thank you.”
Yu Zhouyao let out a soft smile. It was finally a chance to repay the debt. “I’m just glad, I could help.”
