I'm a Professional at Being a Scumbag [Quick Wear] - Chapter 12
Whether Le Yi actually thought that way no longer mattered.
Even if she tried to explain, her words would ring hollow and powerless.
After all…
Feeling the warmth between her fingers, Le Yi’s heart stirred slightly as she lowered her gaze to Chu Qiao, who was nestled against her chest.
Didn’t she say they were up all night…? Where does this child get her energy?
Chu Qiao clearly hadn’t slept well, her face looking somewhat haggard.
Realizing Le Yi was staring at her, Chu Qiao’s eyelashes fluttered twice before she lifted her eyelids to meet Le Yi’s gaze.
Her thick lashes framed eyes as dark and fathomless as the sea, making it impossible to discern her true thoughts.
A sudden memory flashed through Le Yi’s mind: Chu Qiao standing before the man who had tried to take advantage of her, her eyes dark with a terrifying intensity.
“Qiaoqiao, about last night…”
Before Le Yi could finish, Chu Qiao tilted her chin and silenced her with a kiss.
Chu Qiao sucked on Le Yi’s lips, leaving a trail of teeth marks. As she watched Le Yi’s tightly closed eyes, her gaze deepened.
I don’t want Sister to remember those awful memories.
Le Yi possessed the innate ability to close her eyes whenever she kissed someone. She believed that kissing with her eyes open was disrespectful and made it impossible to fully focus.
Chu Qiao playfully kissed her, as if just for fun. Le Yi pressed her hands against Chu Qiao’s waist, holding the restless Kitten still.
As their skin touched, Chu Qiao felt Le Yi’s warmth—the warmth she had always yearned for, the warmth she longed to share.
So warm…
Like—
The first time Sister carried her out of the slums on her back;
The countless cold nights when Sister held her close;
The way their hearts gradually drew closer as their bodies intertwined.
Le Yi, unaware of Chu Qiao’s thoughts, only noticed the dampness in her palm.
Already restless from waking up, Chu Qiao’s teasing only fueled her desire. It’s not my fault, she reasoned.
Having found a convenient excuse, Le Yi began preparing to extract the nectar without any guilt.
Chu Qiao gripped her waist, her lips parted slightly, letting out soft, breathy sounds.
Their lips hovered just barely touching, as if kissing, but their minds were elsewhere.
Chu Qiao had barely rested these past few days, her youthful energy the only thing sustaining her.
She knew she was indulging in excess, but she couldn’t bear to be apart from Le Yi for even a moment.
Unable to feel Le Yi’s love and plagued by insecurity, she clung to this physical intimacy as the only way to find some semblance of peace.
Chu Qiao bit Le Yi’s lip, her eyes misting over as she held her tightly, refusing to let go.
“Sister, I love you,” she murmured, her voice sounding like a delirious whisper in the throes of passion. But Le Yi knew she spoke from the heart.
She couldn’t reciprocate.
This love was too heavy, a burden she couldn’t bear.
Le Yi kissed Chu Qiao’s neck, silently using her actions to distract her from these thoughts.
Chu Qiao flinched violently, her fingers clenching so tightly they left marks on Le Yi’s smooth back. Her soft voice shattered into irregular gasps, muffled by her own teeth.
Le Yi kissed away the tears gathering at the corners of Chu Qiao’s eyes, offering gentle comfort.
Chu Qiao’s gaze grew increasingly unfocused until, with a final sob, she lay limp in Le Yi’s arms, her mind adrift.
Le Yi rested her chin on Chu Qiao’s shoulder, her nose brushing against her cheek as she murmured softly, “Qiaoqiao, tell Sister, what happened last night?”
Chu Qiao bit her lip, refusing to speak. The corners of her eyes flushed red, blending with the blush on her cheeks like an alluring spring bloom.
Seeing her reluctance, Le Yi didn’t want to pressure her. She prepared to go to the bathroom to clean up, but Chu Qiao clung to her, refusing to let go.
“Is Sister angry?” Chu Qiao asked in a small voice, her lips downturned, looking somewhat wronged.
Le Yi was about to explain when Chu Qiao turned her back to her and deliberately placed Le Yi’s hand on her neck.
Le Yi was stunned. “What are you doing?”
Chu Qiao turned to look at her, her eyes innocent. “Doesn’t Sister like this? I’ll do anything Sister likes. I don’t mind the pain.”
Le Yi’s heart sank at her words.
She had only once squeezed Chu Qiao’s neck, right before reaching climax—a completely unconscious act, not a fetish. How could Chu Qiao think she enjoyed it?
Did she believe that such unconditional devotion would earn her love?
Why was she being so self-deprecating?
Le Yi reflected deeply. Over the years of raising Chu Qiao, she had always done her best to provide for her, ensuring she had everything other children had. Why, then, did Chu Qiao still feel so starved for love?
Where had she gone wrong?
Chu Qiao grabbed Le Yi’s hand and pinched herself hard. “Sister, look, I can really do it.”
Le Yi brushed her hand away. Chu Qiao immediately looked at her with panicked eyes, like a child who had done something wrong.
Le Yi covered Chu Qiao’s eyes and sighed softly. “Qiaoqiao, you don’t need to do this. No one is worth hurting yourself for. Don’t ever do something so foolish again.”
Chu Qiao blinked, her lashes tickling Le Yi’s palm. Just as Le Yi was about to pull her hand away, she felt something slide down, wetting her palm.
Chu Qiao was crying again.
Who would have thought that this tall, coolly elegant woman, standing at 1.75 meters, was actually such a crybaby?
Chu Qiao sniffled and whispered, “But if I’m not good, Sister won’t like me anymore.”
Le Yi didn’t reply, only held her tighter.
Chu Qiao hadn’t expected an answer. She knew her sister wouldn’t respond. Ever since realizing her feelings for Le Yi, she had lowered her expectations to the bare minimum.
Lying in the same bed, still feeling her sister’s heartbeat, was far better than she had ever imagined. She shouldn’t ask for anything more.
At noon, Le Yi received a call from the police station, requesting her cooperation in the investigation of the incident from the previous night.
Chu Qiao was asleep at the time, so Le Yi went alone. After spending half an hour piecing together the details, a cold sweat broke out on her back.
If Chu Qiao hadn’t arrived in time, what would have happened to her…?
She had never seen the man who had tried to take advantage of her before. Someone must have been pulling the strings behind the scenes.
Once her mind cleared, Le Yi quickly realized this and identified the prime suspect.
No one but Li Xianyun would dare to do something so brazen.
Everyone in the industry knew Li Xianyun’s notorious reputation, but his powerful connections had allowed him to flaunt his arrogance for so long.
She had humiliated Li Xianyun at the dinner party yesterday, and he was bound to retaliate.
No wonder he had suddenly invited everyone for foot massages—it was a trap specifically set for her.
She could only be grateful for her good fortune in escaping his scheme.
The only lingering concern was whether they had taken any compromising photos or videos while she was unconscious that could be misinterpreted by the public.
Chu Qiao had anticipated this as well. She had Zhao Wei transferred to the intensive care unit and ordered him to be closely monitored.
Zhao Wei, having narrowly escaped death, naturally told everything he knew. An orphan raised by the Li family since childhood, he had always obeyed Li Xianyun’s every command.
For years, his misdeeds had gone undetected, gradually inflating his ego. He never imagined that when the truth finally came to light, no one would cover for him. Li Xianyun would inevitably pin all the blame on Zhao Wei to protect himself.
Chu Qiao stared at the photos stored on the cloud drive, nearly crushing Zhao Wei’s phone in her grip.
The photos themselves were innocuous—just Le Yi sleeping peacefully from different angles, fully clothed and undisturbed.
But the thought of this man harboring such vile intentions toward Le Yi made Chu Qiao want to gouge out his eyes.
Her gaze turned icy as she slowly approached Zhao Wei. He stiffened in terror, his eyes bulging as he begged for mercy.
Tang Chen stepped between them, forcing himself to speak. “Young Miss, we’ll hand him over to the police. There’s no need for you to get your hands dirty.”
With the company’s IPO looming, any scandal could jeopardize everything.
Chu Qiao fixed him with a glacial stare. Just as Tang Chen was about to buckle under the pressure, she turned away without a word.
“Not just him,” she said coldly, “Li Xianyun, and the Chu family backing him. Tell Chu Ji to move quickly.”
Tang Chen nodded repeatedly, exhaling heavily only after Chu Qiao had left.
It was terrifying, like a brush with death.
When Le Yi returned from the police station, Chu Qiao rushed to hug her, nuzzling her ear affectionately.
“Sister, where did you go? I woke up and couldn’t find you. I was so scared.”
Le Yi wrapped an arm around her and said gravely, “Qiaoqiao, I know about what happened yesterday. Thank you.”
Chu Qiao’s expression stiffened momentarily before quickly returning to normal.
“Why are you thanking me? Do you see me as an outsider, Sister?”
Le Yi quickly protested, “No! I just…”
“Sister, never thank me again,” Chu Qiao interrupted. “Anything I do for you comes from my heart.”
Le Yi hummed in acknowledgment, relaxing against Chu Qiao’s shoulder, as if only in her presence could she truly let her guard down.
Chu Qiao cherished this vulnerable side of her, holding her tightly.
After dinner, Le Yi prepared to meet Zhu Qiong. Together, they planned to meet Li Xianyun to gauge his intentions and determine if he still held any leverage over them.
Noticing her intention to leave, Chu Qiao insisted, “Sister, where are you going? I want to come too.”
“I’m meeting Zhu Qiong. Stay home and be good. I’ll be back soon.”
Chu Qiao blocked the doorway, determined to accompany her.
“Qiaoqiao, listen to me. This is important.”
“I won’t interrupt your serious business, but you have to take me with you. I need to protect you.”
Le Yi chuckled. “You’re still a kid yourself. How can you protect me?”
Chu Qiao pouted. “I protected you last night, Sister.”
Le Yi was immediately silenced. After a tense moment, Chu Qiao suddenly clutched her stomach and collapsed to the floor.
“Qiaoqiao, what’s wrong?!” Le Yi startled, dropping her bag and rushing to her side.
Chu Qiao looked up, her face drenched in cold sweat, clearly in severe pain.
“My stomach hurts.”
Le Yi frowned, thinking for a moment. “What did you eat this afternoon?”
“Nothing. Just a glass of lemonade.”
No wonder. Chu Qiao had always had a sensitive stomach. After drinking lemonade, she couldn’t eat spicy food. Yet she adored lemonade, so Le Yi always made sure to ask.
Tonight, she’d forgotten to ask, and Chu Qiao had paid the price.
Le Yi sighed and wiped the sweat from Chu Qiao’s face. “From now on, tell me whenever you drink lemonade, okay?”
Chu Qiao looked up pitifully. “Okay.”
Forgetting her own plans, Le Yi tried to help Chu Qiao up, but the girl remained crouched, gazing up at her with pleading eyes.
“It hurts too much. I can’t stand up. Sister, carry me~”
Left with no choice, Le Yi scooped her up horizontally. Chu Qiao wrapped her arms around Le Yi’s neck, burying her face against her chest, a mischievous glint flashing in her eyes.
Le Yi laid Chu Qiao on the bed, tucked her in, and went to find medicine.
Chu Qiao’s phone vibrated. She answered, her voice sharp and cold: “Tonight’s the night. I’m going to ruin Li Xianyun’s reputation, make him disappear from Xining!”
