- Chapter 2 - The Fastest Identity Exposure in History
How abrupt was this sharp turn? The kind that could throw out your lower back.
While Bu Liuliu was struggling to get a clear look at his benefactor which was no easy feat since the person was standing against the light while he himself was in such a half-dead state—the other party’s actions continued.
As Bu Liuliu was struggling, the flowing light in the person’s hands descended upon him. Still feeling completely numb and sensationless, Bu Liuliu remained inert, but the other party…
“Impossible,” a clear, cold, and aristocratic voice resonated.
Impossible? What is impossible?
Following that, the stranger repeatedly executed the same aesthetically pleasing hand gestures, casting streams of brilliant light onto his body one after another. Who knew how much time passed, just as Bu Liuliu was succumbing to physiological fatigue and drowsiness.
The person crouched down.
Bu Liuliu hurriedly forced his eyes open, eager to get a clear look at his benefactor, but… it was useless. The person’s face—no, not just his face, but his entire body—was shrouded in an aura of glowing light, resembling a layer of sheer gauze that made it impossible to discern his features clearly. In the end, Bu Liuliu simply gave up.
He resumed lying there in a muddled daze.
Even though the person patted and probed all over his body, he felt no reaction whatsoever. Given his current state of decay, what was there even to touch? If anything, he admired the other person for managing to stomach physical contact with him at all.
This made it clear that the falling star-like phenomenon from earlier must be immensely crucial to the stranger.
After another long stretch, the person stood straight once more and began sizing him up.
In truth, Bu Liuliu desperately wanted to tell the other person that there really wasn’t anything worth inspecting about this wretched physical shell of his.
He could tell—and distinctly sense—that the person was carefully scrutinizing him.
What he didn’t know, however, was that this scrutiny was far from simple. Within those eyes concealed behind the veil of light that Bu Liuliu could not pierce, swirling streams of radiance revolved deep within the pupils, closely mirroring the intricate seal-casting spell the stranger had displayed earlier. It was extraordinarily magnificent resembling a vast, starry expanse or brilliant glazed crystal captivatingly mesmerizing.
Yet the more captivating something looked, the more dangerous it tended to be.
After yet another extended moment.
“Interesting.”
Interesting?
What is interesting? Who is interesting?
“Possession… doesn’t look like it. Soul return… neither is it… Interesting, truly interesting. To let it fuse directly for a moment, even this seat cannot do anything to you.” Can’t kill him, can’t exterminate him, can’t harm him, can’t… This is genuinely amusing, far too amusing.
Hey, hey, hey… Benefactor, you… No, wait, he couldn’t quite be considered a benefactor yet since he hadn’t slit his throat or granted him sweet release.
Big brother, your words are getting a bit terrifying.
“Since heaven’s will dictates this…” For reasons unknown, hearing the other person utter the phrase “heaven’s will” carried an intensely mocking undertone.
Bu Liuliu had no idea how, under his current circumstances, he was still capable of discerning the nuances of other people’s emotions.
Regardless, he caught it loud and clear.
He wasn’t going to die anytime soon.
“Truly stinking,” the person remarked with utter disdain.
Big brother, are you only just realizing this, or are you doing it on purpose?
I know I stink, and I’m terribly sorry about that! So why don’t you stand a little further away from me?
“Should I consider you unlucky, or is there some other reason? To actually seek out a physical shell like this just to stay alive, you really aren’t picky about what you eat…” These words grew increasingly scathing.
Hey, hey, hey! Is someone there?! Lord Heaven! Someone is committing verbal harassment here!
And since when is “not picky about what you eat” used to describe this situation?
Bu Liuliu could tell: this faceless man was sharp-tongued and dangerous. The fact that he could instantly see through the fact that he wasn’t the original owner of this body, exposing his true identity with such catch-you-off-guard suddenness—how could he not be dangerous?
Of course, this danger applied only to others; given Bu Liuliu’s current mindset, he simply didn’t care. He wasn’t afraid of dying; he wasn’t even afraid of lying here half-dead and completely isolated.
One had to remember that this was the sea of trees on this imprisoned continent, teeming with countless ferocious beasts and wild predators. Before this fellow had shown up, Bu Liuliu had prayed countless times for some ferocious beast to come along and eat him raw, and he had even been fully mentally prepared for it.
Because he couldn’t feel physical pain it seemed that the agony of biting his tongue to commit suicide earlier had merely been an illusion.
That lasted for just a brief moment, and afterwards, when Bu Liuliu tried biting his tongue again, it didn’t hurt at all, though it still bled.
In any case, Bu Liuliu had grown thoroughly despairing of this current body of his.
The reason for his despair was that he could sense ferocious beasts passing by, and some had even drawn close to him, yet not a single one of them had taken a bite out of him. Even stranger still, later on, within the giant crater where he lay, even the chirping of surrounding birds vanished entirely, leaving behind nothing but the sound of the wind.
An utter silence—so still that Bu Liuliu had almost begun to suspect this was merely a recurring nightmare.
Right up until the moment this person appeared.
It made him realize with absolute certainty that he really had transmigrated, and that the very first person he encountered had immediately seen right through his impostor status.
Just thinking about it…
Whatever.
I’m not going to think about it anymore. It taxes the brain; I might as well go back to lying down.
I’m afraid… even continuing to lie down is about to become impossible.
Because his body was rising. It was ascending into the air with complete stability.
“It seems I can only take you back with me.” The clear, aristocratic voice of the man sounded once more.
And Bu Liuliu desperately wished he had never heard it.
Back? Back to where?!
I don’t want to leave; I want to stay right here and lie down. Just dissect me already! I’ll return your falling star thingy to you—it’s not like I stole your treasure; your own item acted like a rogue and refused to leave my body, you can’t blame that on me!
Besides, if you’re unhappy, wouldn’t it be much easier to just kill me and retrieve the falling star from my corpse?
Dragging me back with you is such a massive hassle.
Hey, hey, brother, slow down, listen to me. You’re so immensely powerful that you could spot my fake identity at a single glance, which means there’s no way you can’t hear my inner thoughts. Cultivators have telepathic arts and mind-reading techniques, right? Listen to me, hey! I’m not going anywhere, put me down and let me die a clean death!
Big brother, your cultivation is lacking if you don’t even know mind-reading. You’re way too amateurish.
Big brother.
Way too amateurish.
Mind-reading.
The man cast a slight sideways glance down at Bu Liuliu, who was currently being levitated by empty space to travel alongside him on the journey.
