I Won Over My Best Friend’s Idol - Chapter 3
“I’m going to the restroom; are you going?” She hesitated about whether to bring her bag along, but Lu Fangcao waved her hand, her entire mind currently focused on the stage.
Although it was an R.S. concert, it wasn’t exclusively them; currently singing and dancing on stage were the not-yet-famous stars from the same company.
She hadn’t even fully recognized the members of R.S., let alone these people. Lu Fangcao happened to see a little handsome guy in the group and had absolutely no intention of paying her any mind.
In her view, those young men had decent figures, but their faces couldn’t be seen clearly! They wore more foundation than she did; she found it somewhat hard to accept and wondered what they looked like after removing their makeup.
She didn’t know where the restroom was located, and Lu Fangcao knew even less; she went out entirely based on feeling and wouldn’t bother with such things.
Kong Yinmeng had no choice but to ask the staff members one by one. Unknowingly, the people became fewer and fewer. When she finished using the restroom and came out, she happened to see two people arguing.
“I know you’ve always looked down on me, but so what? My resources are already better than yours now, wait…” He saw someone appear and immediately retracted his ferocious expression, tossing a sentence to Zheng Yi. “You clean this up; don’t let any bad news get out.”
In the past, these kinds of problems were handled by Zheng Yi; now handing it to him was a matter of course. However, after today, there was no need to keep this kind of news hidden.
Zheng Yi let out a soft sigh. He didn’t look down on anyone; he had seen plenty of the ups and downs in this circle. He just hadn’t expected his teammate to cling to a financial backer for the sake of so-called resources. He had only mentioned it casually, and the other person had pulled him out like a bristling cat.
“About what happened just now…” Zheng Yi didn’t expect it to be such a coincidence that the person he ran into was an “acquaintance.”
Kong Yinmeng also didn’t expect that just going to the restroom would lead to seeing gossip. However, she was not interested in these things. The moment he opened his mouth, she took the initiative to state her position.
“Don’t worry, I just came to the restroom. Aside from that, I saw nothing. I didn’t take any photos with my phone either. If you don’t believe me, you can check it.” She proactively handed over her phone; her open and candid manner made Zheng Yi look at her twice more.
Zheng Yi did not take the phone but said, “I believe in your character. The performance is still going on in front; hurry back and watch.”
Kong Yinmeng had no intention of forcing him to look at the phone. Since he didn’t look, she took the phone back. She just felt his voice was somewhat familiar and looked at his face more carefully.
“Are you Zheng Yi? Also the person who sat in the same seat as me yesterday?” He was different from how he looked on stage just now, having changed his clothes and hairstyle. Lu Fangcao often said her ‘husband’ had strong versatility and could pull off any look.
She was also someone who had seen Zheng Yi’s photos—frequently forced to look at them by Lu Fangcao. Seeing him in person now, she almost didn’t recognize him; he was of the ‘better looking in person than in photos’ series.
After Zheng Yi nodded, he even prepared himself for her to scream. Usually, even if someone wasn’t a fan, they would be extremely excited upon meeting him; some would even say they finally saw him alive, as if he were usually dead.
But her reaction was not very strong. Instead, she thought for a moment. “Are you performing again soon? My friend likes you very much and wants to take a photo with you. Can you make it convenient after the performance ends?”
She didn’t use the matter just now as a threat but spoke in a negotiating tone. She was merely trying to get a benefit for Lu Fangcao; if she had come to the restroom together, she would probably be jumping for joy by now.
“Sure. After the performance ends, follow me to the backstage. There should be quite a few people waiting for commemorative photos then.” He was used to these procedures; anyway, taking photos with anyone was the same.
Kong Yinmeng glanced at him again. Why hadn’t she realized he was Zheng Yi last night? If she had known, she should have helped Lu Fangcao get a contact method. Now only he knew her contact information, while she hadn’t kept his.
She walked forward a few steps, suddenly thought of something, stood in place, pursed her lips, turned her head, and asked him, “Can you find the way back?”
Zheng Yi: “…” He had a slight lack of sense of direction, but this distance was usually no problem. Did she really consider him a top-tier directionally challenged person?
“I can return to the backstage myself. You should hurry back too.”
Kong Yinmeng maintained a skeptical attitude, but since he said he could, she should still save him some face. At worst, there were staff members; there was no need for her to worry.
Under Zheng Yi’s subtle gaze, she hurried back to the audience seats and saw Lu Fangcao, who was clearly dressed like a little fairy, clapping her hands like a crazed fan. Performing on stage were still those younger disciples from the same company as R.S.
“Their average age is probably just barely legal. You, an old cow, should take it easy!” She mercilessly punctured Lu Fangcao’s pink bubbles of infatuation.
“So what? I only slept with a barely legal one last night.” When Lu Fangcao was infatuated, her brain was the least useful; she blurted out the secret she had been hiding just like that.
After saying it, she felt the surroundings turn chilly. Turning her head, she saw Kong Yinmeng’s gaze was like a knife, saying to her gloomily, “Lu Fangcao, you’ve really got some nerve. How did I warn you? Don’t harm the buds of the motherland…”
“Alright, alright, I know I was wrong. Stop nagging. Wasn’t it just because I drank too much and didn’t pay attention? I’ll be careful next time. Hurry and watch the performance!” Lu Fangcao quickly changed the subject; she shouldn’t have mentioned that.
She was clearly too guilty to continue the conversation, so Kong Yinmeng didn’t have time to tell her about going backstage for a photo later.
Five minutes later, Zheng Yi went on stage again. This time it was his solo singing time. The first thing he did after going on stage was announce that he wanted to find someone among the audience to sing a duet with him.
The scene instantly became excited. Lu Fangcao even jumped up. However, it was useless… she watched helplessly as Zheng Yi’s finger swept past her and pointed to her side. Her side?
She instinctively covered her mouth. What kind of ghost luck did Kong Yinmeng have? A person who was just pulled along as a mascot was called onto the stage. What should she do if she doesn’t know how to sing???
The camera followed Zheng Yi’s finger and panned over, giving Kong Yinmeng a big close-up. Her expression immediately appeared on the screen, and everyone saw clearly what the “favored one” looked like.

She had reason to suspect that the one on stage was engaging in a public settling of a private grudge. As for the reason… a narrow-minded person doesn’t need a reason to take revenge. She accepted her fate!
Tens of thousands of people were waiting for her to go on stage. If it were delayed any further, it would look too bad. She had already noticed there was a teleprompter on stage, so even if she was flustered, she dared to go up.
“Sister, take care!” Lu Fangcao added fuel to the fire, not knowing when to stop, and received a look like a knife in return.
After going on stage, the staff nimbly handed her a microphone. Aside from facing it with a smile, could she have any other expression?
With so many people watching, any slight impropriety on her part might be magnified countless times by others. Life under the spotlight is not that easy.
The music started, and Zheng Yi was naturally the one to sing first, leading her into the duet during the middle section. Her gaze almost never left the teleprompter, so she didn’t notice that while she was struggling to keep up with the rhythm, Lu Fangcao received a message and then slipped away from the scene.
Zheng Yi did see it. The problem was that he was also singing and couldn’t remind her. In his heart, he placed an equals sign between Lu Fangcao and “unreliable”; she just abandoned her good sister like that.
After coming off stage, Kong Yinmeng found Lu Fangcao’s seat empty and thought she had gone to the restroom. Who knew that when she took out her phone, she discovered that the girl had directly slipped away.
——“Mengmeng ah, something went wrong with my little puppy; I have to go help him. You must help me get a signed photo of my ‘husband.’ The photos are in your bag. It’s been hard on you. Love you, finger heart~”
Heh, her mind was now full of “heh.” For the sake of a little puppy, she abandoned her “husband” and still wanted her to get a signed photo. Keep dreaming!
She picked up her bag and was just about to leave when she looked at the stage and happened to catch Zheng Yi’s gaze. Taking a deep breath, she sat back down. Stay calm; she was only doing it to keep the agreement.
Had she known, she wouldn’t have told him about wanting a commemorative photo. Now that the actual fan had left, what was the point of leaving her, a tool, here?
Regarding her action of sitting back down, Zheng Yi was quite satisfied in his heart. At least she hadn’t forgotten the agreement between the two. He hated people who broke their word the most.
At this moment, Lan Xiao was exceptionally anxious. There was clearly no segment for finding someone to sing a duet in their flow. Now that this item was suddenly added, he was a bit flustered.
“Our captain really has a way with women. Heh, women nowadays are shameless enough.” The one speaking was the R.S. member who had argued with Zheng Yi earlier. He felt that this duet segment was proposed by Kong Yinmeng, with the goal naturally being to grab attention.
Using a piece of news about discord between teammates in exchange for an opportunity to perform on the same stage quite a calculation.
Lan Xiao couldn’t be bothered to pay him any mind. He decided to find a man to go on stage for a duet later. Male fans are a bit calmer than female fans; he could have less awkwardness.
After Zheng Yi finished singing another song and came off stage, Kong Yinmeng did not stay to continue listening but secretly made her way to the backstage. She happened to see him signing for the staff.
She waited until most of the staff members had left before stepping forward. “My friend had something and left early. Help her sign a name.”
The moment she opened her bag, Zheng Yi saw a stack of photos inside, but she only pulled out one and quickly zipped it back up.
Zheng Yi took the photo and signed his name neatly, asking casually, “Are you sure all those photos don’t need signing? Why do I feel like you are actually my fan? No need to be embarrassed; I still have time.”
Kong Yinmeng: “…” She was definitely going to assassinate that girl Lu Fangcao when she got back. She was indeed being suspected. If it were her, she might also suspect she was playing the “hard to get” game. It was truly impossible to explain clearly.
“No need, I really am asking for a signed photo for a friend. After this time, we probably won’t meet again, so you don’t need to be troubled.”
She took back the signed photo, resentfully stuffed it into her bag, turned around, and left without looking back. She decided to stay away from Lu Fangcao lately to avoid being screwed over again and again.
