I Won Over My Best Friend’s Idol - Chapter 4
Lu Fangcao hurriedly drove away from the concert and arrived at the entrance of the best university in Hong City. At this moment, a single person was standing lonely at the school gate, looking down while playing on his phone.
She honked the horn and rolled down the car window. “Didn’t you say you were being ganged up on? Where are those people, and why don’t you have a single injury on you?”
She had rushed over in a hurry because the “little milk dog” (younger man) said he had been beaten and wanted to go to the hospital. And the result? Just this?
“Sister Lu, I came back late and the school gates are closed. Please take me in for one more night!” Xi Pingzhi put away his phone and walked over to the passenger side with a beaming smile. He reached out to pull the door… but it wouldn’t budge.
“Sister Lu…”
Hearing this made Lu Fangcao’s heart feel itchy. Something was wrong with her; she had never looked for men younger than herself before. Wasn’t it said that younger ones were all arrogant, fierce, and cool?
Seeing that he looked quite pitiful, she unlocked the door anyway. Xi Pingzhi successfully boarded the car, his face still wearing that smiling expression, which was very bewitching.
“Let’s get this straight first: taking you in is no problem, but forget about anything else. I only made a mistake last night because I was drunk. You’re only a sophomore; I don’t have the leisure time to wait for you to grow up.”
Her goal was the stars and the sea; she couldn’t be tethered by a man, not even a little milk dog.
Xi Pingzhi frowned slightly, then returned to his original expression. “Sister Lu, whatever you say goes. I just have nowhere else to go. I’ve spent all my money, and there are still ten days until my family sends next month’s living expenses. I can’t stay in a hotel.”
His explanation sounded legitimate, so Lu Fangcao reluctantly accepted it. However, thinking about how she failed to get a photo with Zheng Yi made her heart feel blocked and frustrated.
She turned off the ignition and sent a message to Kong Yinmeng, asking how the signed photo turned out. The result… a red exclamation mark!
“Look, look at this! This is all because of your antics. Now my best friend is ignoring me. You better find a way for me!” The most important thing was whether the signed photo was actually obtained; she had to ask clearly.
Xi Pingzhi silently glanced at the screen. He knew since last night that she had a best friend; when she was drunk, she kept shouting about picking her up, but she couldn’t even say where.
After the two of them rolled around the sheets, that matter was completely off the table. He also saw from her WeChat Moments that she was at the concert, seeing one post after another calling someone “husband” and so on, which made him feel inexplicably displeased.
So, he caused a bit of trouble. He had simply sent a random message and then didn’t reply no matter what she asked. He didn’t expect her to actually come.
“I’m a little hungry. Let’s go eat something first?” He had no intention of thinking of a “way.” Seeing her lack of real tension, he assumed they had blacklisted each other many times before, so there was nothing to worry about.
Besides, if her best friend was gone, he wouldn’t mind being her “male best friend” instead…
“Now that you mention it, I’m hungry too. Nearby… I remember there’s a good wonton shop. Mengmeng went to school here, and I used to come find her every few days.”
The academic levels of the two of them were as different as heaven and earth. Kong Yinmeng got into the best school. She could have gotten in by paying money, but she didn’t want to waste it. Wouldn’t it be better to spend that money on eating, drinking, and having fun?
So she attended a mediocre university nearby and somehow managed to muddle through.
Xi Pingzhi maintained his “little milk dog” persona; whatever “Sister” said was what they would do, even though he didn’t particularly like eating wontons.
On the other side, after blacklisting her, Kong Yinmeng returned home. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Finally, she chose to browse Weibo to vent.
She was, after all, a travel blogger and would occasionally post photos of herself. The R.S. concert had more influence than she imagined. When she logged into Weibo, the phone lagged for a few seconds before responding.
The people tagging her were innumerable. The reason, naturally, was her singing on stage with Zheng Yi. The way she stared at the teleprompter without giving Zheng Yi even a single glance had been turned into GIFs.
Her followers had increased again. Since she was on the Hot Search, although she didn’t have a team, she knew she should post something at this time to ride the trend!!

She posted several photos from the concert scene in a row. One of them was a GIF made by a “sand sculpture” netizen showing her staring dead-on at the teleprompter. In just a few seconds, the replies exceeded a thousand. With one refresh, the comment count was still growing.
She picked a few of her die-hard fans to reply to and then exited Weibo. It probably wouldn’t quiet down tonight.
Therefore, she didn’t know that half an hour later, Zheng Yi liked and reposted her Weibo. Now her Weibo was even more lively.
Unfortunately, she didn’t join in on the excitement. Instead, she started binge-watching a show. It was still early for bed, and she could definitely find a high-rated show to watch.
This watching lasted until the middle of the night. Just as she was preparing to sleep, a friend request popped up on WeChat. She was going to click “Reject,” but after seeing the other person’s profile picture, she chose to “Accept.”
Zheng Yi raised an eyebrow. He didn’t expect her to still be awake so late.
[Li: It’s 1:30 AM and you’re not asleep yet?
Mengmeng: Aren’t you also awake?
After replying, she went to the bathroom to wash up, replying to messages while brushing her teeth.
Li: Had things to do tonight, just got back to the hotel.
Mengmeng: How did you get my phone number?
Li: If I said it was fate, would you believe me?
Mengmeng: Heh heh. Going to sleep. Stay up late by yourself.
Another nonsensical man. Kong Yinmeng didn’t blacklist him immediately; perhaps he would bring her unexpected surprises in the future.
She occasionally encountered people adding her as a friend, most of whom were introduced by Lu Fangcao, and she usually wouldn’t agree.
This time she agreed entirely because his profile picture was of a scenic spot she had just returned from traveling to. Maybe it was someone she met out of town?
Li: Goodnight, sweet dreams.
After Zheng Yi sent this, he began packing his luggage. He would leave Hong City on an 11:00 AM flight tomorrow. This time he definitely had to keep up with the main group to avoid getting lost again.
The concert was a complete success. The Hot Search list was almost entirely occupied by R.S. Even those getting married or having scandals couldn’t grab the front row.
The main reason was that the company announced that starting tonight, R.S. was officially disbanded. They would develop as individuals in the future.
For most people, tonight was another sleepless night.
Kong Yinmeng said she slept very soundly. She woke up at 10:30 the next day. Same time, same sound of knocking on the door.
“Lu Fangcao, do I have a grudge with you?”
“Mengmeng, look what I brought you! Travel vouchers from my dad’s company, worth five thousand yuan, given to you for free. Will you give me the signed photo now?”
As a best friend, Lu Fangcao naturally followed her Weibo and saw the post from last night. One of the photos was the signed photo the thing she had been longing for.
If she hadn’t known that she almost never wakes up before ten, she would have rushed over long ago. How could she have waited until now?
“Heh heh, another set of travel vouchers that didn’t cost you money. You’re quite good at borrowing flowers to offer to Buddha. Do you know how embarrassed I was when you ran off halfway? I…”
“Ah, I know! It’s all my fault, I was wrong, I should be beaten, I have no humanity, no sisterly affection! So, can you give it to me now?”
Lu Fangcao interrupted her nagging. Since she had taken the travel vouchers, it proved she accepted the apology. Another successful “reconciliation” achieved!
Kong Yinmeng pointed to the top of the shoe cabinet. It was the bag she carried last night. Lu Fangcao understood immediately, lunged forward in one step, unzipped it, and saw the photo inside.
When she saw there was only one signed photo, her small face slumped. “Mengmeng, you’ve worked hard once already, why didn’t you get them all signed for me?”
“Big sister, do you think your ‘husband’ is very idle? His time is precious! Getting one signed for you is already good enough!” Naturally, she wouldn’t say that Zheng Yi wanted to sign a few more, but she was angry and didn’t agree.
“Fine, better than nothing. Let me tell you, this little milk dog seems a bit off. The more I think about it, the more I feel something went wrong. He clearly lied to me last night, yet until he left this morning, I didn’t even settle the score with him.”
Lu Fangcao wasn’t truly stupid; she was simply blinded by the little milk dog’s innocent and pure appearance. Some people are white on the outside and rotten to the core on the inside.
“Just don’t get cheated out of your money or body at your age. Also, pay attention to safety measures. Don’t cause ‘loss of life’ (pregnancy); it’s bad for your health.” She felt like she was Lu Fangcao’s nagging mother, constantly reminding her not to do this or that.
“That’s for sure. By the way, what’s going on between you and Zheng Yi? He reposted your Weibo and even praised you for singing well!”
Kong Yinmeng: “…” She had a bad premonition.
She opened Weibo. This time the lag was significantly longer than yesterday. Seeing the already unbearable amount of @ tags, she chose to withdraw into herself.
“Your husband really loves watching the chaos. Is he afraid his ‘wife fans’ won’t swallow me whole and skin me alive?”
Lu Fangcao immediately countered: “I’m also a wife fan, and haven’t I not eaten you yet? It’s just that he usually only posts advertisements. This is the first time he has seriously reposted a commoner’s Weibo. Of course there are many comments.”
She clicked in to look. It wasn’t just “many”; it was a staggering amount. In just one night, there were over 300,000 comments.
“Your husband’s popularity is really high!” She subconsciously swallowed her saliva. If all these 300,000 comments were scolding her, would she even dare to step out of the house?
She clicked on her own post. By comparison, 20,000 wasn’t truly that many, but it was the first time she had broken a record in recent years.
She checked a few entries and found that most of them were just “sour” (jealous) and not actually insulting. Her psychological burden eased a lot.
“Your husband’s fans have quite high quality.” As soon as her praise came out, it was Lu Fangcao’s solo time again, praising everyone from Zheng Yi to the fans.
Kong Yinmeng chanted in her heart: I’m used to it, I’m used to it all. This is my close best friend, I can’t hit her!
Besides the travel vouchers, Lu Fangcao had still brought her breakfast. she accepted it all. She checked the validity of the travel vouchers; there was still one month before they expired.
She could rest for a while before going out. As for what to do during this period, she still needed to plan.
Tomorrow, she’d head home to see her parents first. They had called her several times. However, thinking about going back and hearing them say “you’re not young anymore, it’s time to find a partner” gave her a headache.
