- Chapter 75 - Affectionate Extra (Part 1)
Before joining her new film crew, Qi Xiyao held several livestreams because her fans kept asking for them.
She had never really enjoyed livestreaming. It always felt a little awkward, like talking to herself on camera. But once filming began, she would be focused entirely on her role and rarely have time for online appearances. Her fans had been complaining about not seeing her often. With a little nudging from Zheng Xiuxue, she finally agreed to give it a shot.
Qi Xiyao usually did not stream for very long on her own, but reading fans’ questions in real time made it feel less awkward and more natural.
Tonight was her last livestream before she began filming. She started at 8 PM, the time when the most people were online. Fans rushed in, only to see her screen open to a popular MOBA game.
Many fans who had never seen her play games before became instantly excited.
One comment asked, “Xiyao plays games too? What role does she play?”
Another guessed, “I bet she plays support! That would suit her.”
Someone else added, “Can you play with Sister Peirong sometime? We want to see her carry you.”
Another excited fan wrote, “So this is the final wild night before filming starts? All-night battle incoming!”
Qi Xiyao adjusted her setup and glanced at the scrolling comments. She smiled softly and explained, “I haven’t played in a while. Tonight, I’ll be playing with my agent and Jinhua.”
“Yes, just the three of us.”
In MOBA games, players typically join ranked matches in solo, duo, trio, or five-person queues. Fans knew her current agent was Xiaoxue, not Yu Peirong, so some people in the chat sighed with disappointment.
Qi Xiyao created a game room and waited for the other two to come online. Meanwhile, she continued answering fans’ questions.
“No, there is only one Jinhua. It’s Gu Jinhua, of course.”
“As for Xiaoxue, I haven’t really played games with her before, but I think she’s pretty skilled.”
She paused and smiled again. “Sister Peirong has something going on tonight. She might be working late.”
The mention of Yu Peirong brought a gentle glow to her expression. Her eyes softened, and her tone was calm. She avoided a few inappropriate comments, but those who were trying to stir up trouble were quickly banned by the moderators. The moderators were clearly very efficient.
Soon, Gu Jinhua and Zheng Xiuxue entered the game. Knowing that Qi Xiyao was livestreaming, both of them politely turned on their microphones. It did not take long for the viewers to notice something odd.
Zheng Xiuxue kept trying to talk to Gu Jinhua, but Gu Jinhua either replied lazily or ignored her altogether and spoke directly to Qi Xiyao instead.
Gu Jinhua had a charming way of speaking. When she was first to ban heroes, she asked sweetly, “Sis, what do you want to play? I’ll get it for you.”
Qi Xiyao hesitated for a moment and then picked a mobile marksman with strong burst damage. She asked Gu Jinhua to lock it in for her. Zheng Xiuxue, who was playing from another room, selected a mage. Gu Jinhua quickly declared she would take the top lane.
The viewers were confused.
One comment read, “Most people go for mid-jungle-support in trio queue. What is this setup?”
Another wrote, “I expected someone to take jungle or support…”
A third fan commented, “Nobody likes playing jungle or support. Jungling is exhausting. You have to be everywhere. Support is thankless too. You always get blamed. I get it.”
Qi Xiyao had been momentarily distracted by a message she was sending to Yu Peirong and did not realize the game had already started. When she looked back at the screen, she saw that the opposing team had chosen a lineup filled with crowd control abilities.
One of their support players was using a hook-based hero. That character was tricky to play. A well-timed hook could change the tide of battle, but poor aim could easily cost the game.
Fortunately, the player was clearly struggling.
Qi Xiyao dodged the hook with a quick roll, cleared the minion wave, leveled up, and launched a projectile toward the enemy. It exploded with a satisfying pop, sending fruit-shaped shrapnel across the screen.
She reacted quickly and reduced the enemy’s health to nearly zero. Instead of retreating, the opponent stubbornly stayed in the lane and tried to heal using their teammate’s recovery item.
The marksman on the other team suddenly stopped moving, clearly typing something in chat.
Qi Xiyao laughed quietly to herself.
She was not someone who talked much while gaming. Only during crucial moments would she call for help or use signal pings.
After her team won a key battle at the dragon pit, they entered their power spike. Despite the enemy team having a strong combo of control skills, their hook-support was dragging them down.
The player kept missing, and once even hooked a tank instead of a damage dealer. The most ridiculous moment came when three enemies were low on health. The support hooked a mage who had just activated their area damage ultimate. That one mistake handed Zheng Xiuxue an easy triple kill.
Feeling proud, Zheng Xiuxue typed “666” in the public chat, which is a Chinese internet slang for “awesome.”
The other team had clearly had enough and started blaming their own teammate in all chat.
Then the hook player finally responded.
They typed quickly and firmly, “I am not throwing the game.”
“I’m not throwing the game,” the support typed again.
“I just tabbed out to reply to a message and forgot to select a hero. The system auto-filled the role for me.”
The opposing marksman was furious. He lashed out, asking why the support hadn’t said anything earlier if he didn’t know how to play that role, and why he was stealing his health packs. That mistake had cost him the early lane against Qi Xiyao.
Despite being bombarded with criticism, the support didn’t get angry or even flustered. Instead, he calmly responded:
“You weren’t going to win against her anyway.”
The marksman froze.
He was absolutely livid. For the rest of the match, he ignored team coordination and kept arguing with the support. At one point, he stood in a bush to type, got discovered, and was instantly killed. Still, he wouldn’t stop ranting, even mixing in a few rude words.
Then the support disconnected for about a minute. After he came back, the chat finally went quiet. No one knew if he had switched to another channel to argue or simply gave up.
Meanwhile, Gu Jinhua helped Qi Xiyao push several towers. Their team was cruising toward victory. It was a surprisingly smooth game, especially considering how ineffective the hook support on the other side had been. By now, their score was one kill, ten deaths, and two assists, the only kill was from cleaning up someone else’s damage.
Even the two random teammates on Qi Xiyao’s team started mocking the opposing support. That seemed to finally get under the player’s skin. He began to play more seriously, landing one or two hooks. At one point, he even caught Qi Xiyao and took her out instantly, temporarily turning the tide.
As the team regrouped, waiting for everyone to respawn and push mid lane for the final crystal, Zheng Xiuxue suddenly spoke up while staring at Qi Xiyao’s grayed-out avatar and countdown timer.
After hesitating for a moment, she said, not quite convinced,
“Why does that support’s tone…”
“Sound so much like my sister?”
