I Transmigrated into a Scummy Alpha and Stole the Heroine from Her Tragic Romance - Chapter 25
It felt like electricity had shot through her. Yu Peirong’s whole body went numb, and even her movements turned stiff. For a brief moment, it seemed as if her heart had nearly stopped beating.
The woman’s lips were soft and carried a fresh, pleasant scent of pomelo. It was like tasting a piece of pomelo jelly, sweet and tender.
Qi Xiyao kissed awkwardly. Her technique was clumsy and unpracticed, but her strength was anything but gentle. Whether it was intentional or not, her teeth accidentally bumped against Yu Peirong’s lower lip. The taste of blood stirred the Alpha’s natural instinct to hunt. Overwhelmed by the sensation, Yu Peirong hooked her arm around Qi Xiyao’s shoulder and deepened the kiss.
As their lips and tongues tangled, heat surged between them. The scent of pomelo tea continued to drift from the gland at the back of the woman’s neck. At first, the aroma was light and faint, almost unnoticeable, but as time passed, it grew stronger and more concentrated. It was like a well-brewed cup of tea that carried no alcohol but still had an intoxicating effect. The scent was so intense that sweat began to form on Yu Peirong’s forehead.
That familiar heat began to rise inside her again. Yu Peirong sensed that if this continued, something would go wrong. That was when she suddenly remembered that she had brought an Omega suppressant and pheromone patch with her. She quickly pushed Qi Xiyao away.
The woman did not resist. Her entire body slumped weakly into the soft leather seat, as if she had no strength left to fight. It felt like no matter what Yu Peirong did now, she would not have resisted.
Yu Peirong helped her sit up, letting the woman rest her head gently on her shoulder. Her warm and shallow breathing brushed against the sensitive area where Yu Peirong’s neck met her collarbone, leaving behind a burning sensation that made her skin flush red.
Thanks to the biology lessons she had crammed earlier, Yu Peirong now knew where the gland was. She carefully pulled back the collar of Qi Xiyao’s shirt and whispered a quiet “sorry” before injecting the suppressant.
As the syringe emptied, the heavy scent of pheromones in the air began to fade. It was no longer as overwhelming as it had been moments ago.
She turned on the car’s air purification system but avoided opening the windows, worried that the remaining pheromones might leak out and cause more trouble.
Still, despite herself, Yu Peirong could not help inhaling softly under the lingering influence of the scent.
Earlier, she had used a powerful suppressant on the two Alphas. That kind of drug blocked out all sensory responses immediately, working like a temporary chemical castration that would leave any stimulated Alpha completely unresponsive.
Of course, she would never use something like that on Qi Xiyao. This time, it was a regular suppressant, which meant it took longer to take effect. By the time the drug started working, the Omega’s pheromones had already begun to affect Yu Peirong’s senses. Fortunately, she still had enough self-control to resist.
After about two minutes, the purifier finally removed all traces of the sweet pomelo scent. Yu Peirong then prepared to drive to the police station. As she adjusted the car’s controls, she turned her head slightly and met eyes with Qi Xiyao, who was slowly recovering.
The woman’s lips were a deep, rosy red. It was not from lipstick. Whatever slight color she had applied earlier had long been licked away. Her lips were still soft and moist, looking like a translucent piece of tea jelly.
Her long lashes hung low, concealing the flickering emotion in her eyes. Her breathing was still a little fast and shallow. When she looked up and accidentally locked eyes with Yu Peirong, she quickly looked away.
After a long pause, Qi Xiyao finally seemed to gather her courage. She raised her head and let out a long breath.
“Rong-jie… thank you.”
At that moment, Qi Xiyao’s emotions were complicated.
Earlier, when she was in the car with the two men, she had overheard them talking about President Yu. Even though her mind was hazy, a wave of anger surged inside her. It felt like betrayal.
Very few people knew that her heat was approaching, and Yu Peirong was the only one she had ever had conflict with.
The way those two men had spoken made it sound like Yu Peirong had sent them. That idea left Qi Xiyao feeling upset and bitter. It hurt to think she might have trusted the wrong person.
But if Yu Peirong had truly wanted to embarrass her or use this incident to damage her reputation, she would never have shown up to save her. Even though Yu Peirong had worn a mask earlier, there was still a chance people could recognize them. Fortunately, they were both Omegas. Otherwise, rumors would have spread uncontrollably.
Thinking of this, Qi Xiyao looked again at Yu Peirong, who was now focused on driving. Her face was calm and stern, her lips pressed into a thin line, her eyes locked straight ahead. She didn’t reply to Qi Xiyao’s thanks.
By the time they left the police station, it was nearly dawn. Aside from a few phone calls Yu Peirong took from the director and producer, the two of them did not speak again.
The sky around four or five in the morning was still dim and misty. The last traces of night had not fully disappeared, but a pale sun had begun to rise in the east. The soft morning breeze was cool but comforting, gently brushing against their skin and easing their exhaustion.
The filming site was not far from the city center. However, the investigation had taken longer because the two suspects had caused a car accident during their escape. Although no one was seriously hurt, they were caught immediately and brought in for questioning.
Yu Peirong’s car had run out of gas, so she stopped at a nearby station to fill up the tank. She had wanted Qi Xiyao to rest in the back seat, but the woman simply shook her head and said she could not sleep.
Yu Peirong did not insist. Resting her chin lazily on the steering wheel, she waited as the station staff refueled the car. She also declined another persistent call from Yu Shang.
The two men who had kidnapped Qi Xiyao were repeat offenders. Two years ago, they had done something similar and were briefly detained. Since the consequences were not serious back then, they had been released early.
This world’s laws protected Omegas very strictly. Incidents like this could cause severe harm and long-term effects. The fact that two Alphas had almost assaulted an Omega meant their punishment would be harsh. Even if charges were not pressed, kidnapping alone would land them in prison for at least ten years.
Yu Peirong and Qi Xiyao had also made their stance clear. They refused any settlements or compensation and demanded a heavy sentence.
But when Yu Peirong asked who had hired them, the two men said nothing. They remained silent, as if trained to keep secrets.
At first, she suspected Yu Shang. But after seeing how genuinely panicked he became when he heard that Qi Xiyao had nearly been hurt, she began to doubt it was him.
Yu Shang may have been heartless, but he was not foolish enough to ruin his future so recklessly.
That left the assistant as the most likely suspect. The assistant had been assigned to Qi Xiyao as soon as she joined the company. They had a good relationship, which made it unlikely that she had been bribed. More likely, she had been planted from the start with a hidden agenda.
Once the car was full, Yu Peirong slowly pulled onto the overpass. She had no idea that beside her, Qi Xiyao was watching her with a soft and guilty expression in her eyes.
When they returned to the set, Director Quan and the production team came over right away. They asked about Qi Xiyao’s emotional state, and also expressed concern since this incident revealed a serious lapse in security. As a result, part of the responsibility fell on the crew.
Noticing how sleepy Qi Xiyao looked, Director Quan kindly told her not to force herself to stay awake. He suggested she rest for now and talk later.
Quan Zhihong personally escorted Qi Xiyao back to her room, saying he needed to speak with her in private. Meanwhile, Yu Peirong stayed behind to handle the aftermath.
Although she remained there, her mind was far from calm.
On the way back, Yu Shang kept messaging her. He either asked about Qi Xiyao’s condition or demanded to know exactly what had happened the night before. Annoyed by his constant questioning, Yu Peirong finally turned on Do Not Disturb mode.
Her rescue of Qi Xiyao the night before had also drawn attention. Among the many onlookers, there were surely some who recognized them. After all, the two of them had once trended on social media because of false rumors.
At that moment, messages from the chat app started pouring in one after another. Most of them were asking about gossip. Yu Peirong quickly skimmed through them, casually replying to a few. But when she scrolled all the way down, she suddenly noticed that Zhao Siyan had changed her profile picture.
Maybe it was because she had once played a criminal detective in her past life, but Yu Peirong had always been especially alert to small details like this. When she opened their chat, she suddenly remembered that Zhao Siyan, who used to message her all the time just to bother her, had not contacted her for several days now. Even the greetings from a few days ago had become much shorter and less friendly. The usual flattery was gone.
Yu Peirong frowned slightly.
As she thought about it, she arrived at the entrance of the hotel where she was staying. There, she bumped into Director Quan Zhihong, who was on her way out. The woman nodded politely at her, then paused as if she just remembered something.
“Weren’t you and Xiao Qi sharing a room earlier? One of the empty rooms has been cleaned and is ready now.”
Yu Peirong immediately understood what she meant. She gave a nod and walked into the elevator.
Just moments ago, her mind had been calm and collected. But as the elevator rose floor by floor, her thoughts began to spin. It was not just exhaustion that washed over her. What truly made her nervous was the memory of what happened last night.
Even though she knew Qi Xiyao had only acted that way because of the influence of her pheromones, Yu Peirong still could not stop thinking about the fact that she had lost her first kiss after more than twenty years of being single.
What unsettled her even more was that she was not as upset as she had expected. Instead, when she remembered the blush on Qi Xiyao’s pale cheeks and the soft, jelly-like feel of her lips, she felt a strange excitement rising inside her.
Once she realized what she was feeling, Yu Peirong’s breathing slowed and her footsteps grew cautious.
She stood in the hallway outside the room for a long time, unsure of what to do. After hesitating for a while, she patted her cheeks firmly, trying to calm the heat spreading across her ears and face. Her heart was still pounding. The door ahead felt less like a normal room and more like a dangerous place. After struggling with herself for a moment, she finally swiped her room card.
She entered the fingerprint code as well, doing her best to stay calm. She pushed aside her nervousness and shyness, putting on the cold and serious expression she always used to protect herself.
The lock clicked open and Qi Xiyao came into view.
It seemed like she wanted to speak first. “Sister Rong…”
“The front desk said another room is ready now,” Yu Peirong said quickly, keeping her eyes away from Qi Xiyao. She tried to sound casual and natural. “You should rest here. I’ll move to the other room.”
The room fell silent.
Yu Peirong still did not look at her. Her gaze wandered elsewhere the whole time she spoke. It wasn’t until Qi Xiyao slowly walked up to her that she finally felt her presence right in front of her.
The Omega’s voice was soft and gentle, with a trace of sadness and nervousness.
“Do you dislike me that much, Sister Rong? You really don’t want to share a room with me?”
