I Transmigrated into a Scummy Alpha and Stole the Heroine from Her Tragic Romance - Chapter 24
The pitch-black night hung like a velvet curtain, dotted with only a few dim stars.
Inside the shaking car, an unfamiliar and strange scent began to swell and ferment, slowly invading Qi Xiyao’s senses.
Her hands were tied behind her back, and her eyes were blindfolded in darkness. All she could feel was the bumpy road beneath her, like the gentle yet unsettling tides of the deep sea. The wheels continued rolling forward, but she had no idea where they were headed.
As an Omega nearing her heat cycle, her body had become fragile and sensitive. The thick scent in the air overwhelmed her, making her extremely uncomfortable. She bent her knees slightly and pressed her hand against her throbbing temples. Even then, she could not stop herself from coughing and gasping for air.
“Tsk. She’s awake?”
A man’s voice came from the front seat, impatient and unfamiliar.
Qi Xiyao could tell she was lying alone in the backseat. The man’s intentions were unclear, and though her heart was pounding wildly, she chose to remain silent.
“I heard from President Yu that she’s about to enter her heat cycle. And she hasn’t been marked yet, right? I’ve always been curious what a grapefruit-scented Omega tastes like…”
President Yu?
A low and suggestive chuckle followed, making her nerves tighten instantly. Her heart began to beat even faster. The scent inside the car grew stronger by the second, and she could feel the glands on the back of her neck being triggered. Her pheromones were threatening to burst out. She bit her lip hard in desperation.
The strong taste of blood filled her mouth, and the sharp pain helped her stay somewhat awake.
At the same time, a wave of suspicion spread through her mind. It was like a seed that had been planted long ago and was now growing uncontrollably. The pain spread through every nerve, making her limbs numb.
She had passed out suddenly in the dressing room, right in a blind spot of the surveillance cameras. Earlier that night, she had felt unwell and asked the director for a break, intending to make up the scene the next day. The male and female leads didn’t mind and even told her to get some rest.
Very few people knew her heat cycle was approaching.
Qi Xiyao clenched her fists tightly. She could feel her nails cutting into her palms. The pain was the only thing helping her stay alert. Unfortunately, her mind was fading. Her body was heating up, and her pheromones were spiraling out of control. Her head throbbed as her strength slowly drained. She knew her heat was coming soon.
She had not expected it to arrive this fast. Earlier, three Alphas had tried to force her into heat. Their actions had completely disrupted her hormonal balance.
Why was her reaction suddenly so intense? And why had someone been waiting for her near the dressing room, hidden from the cameras?
Clinging to her last bit of clarity, she tried to piece together what had happened. Through the haze, she thought she could hear the distant noise of a busy commercial district. The car was slowing down. But with her mouth gagged, she could not call for help.
A commercial district?
Were they insane? They were actually going to abandon an Omega entering heat in a mixed-gender public area?
For an Alpha who lacked self-control, an Omega’s pheromones were an irresistible temptation. That thought alone made her break out in a cold sweat.
Then it hit her. She had drunk that cup of rose tea.
After calling Qi Xiyao’s phone and getting no answer, Yu Peirong immediately called her assistant. There was silence on that line too.
With both calls unanswered, Yu Peirong, who had been in the industry long enough to spot danger, rushed to find the person in charge.
The production manager grew anxious as soon as he heard Qi Xiyao was missing. The set was open, and with the shoot taking place at night, no one had been monitoring the area closely. Nobody expected someone to go missing, so no one had been watching closely.
Then Xiao Tang, who was reviewing the surveillance footage, reported that someone had carried away what looked like an unconscious Qi Xiyao. Yu Peirong did not hesitate. She ran out immediately.
The plot of the novel she had read was still incomplete. From what she remembered, there was little detailed information about Qi Xiyao’s character. Everything in the story seemed to revolve around the romance between the leads.
What she had never expected was that the female lead’s assistant turned out to be a traitor. On the surface, the two women had always seemed friendly, laughing and chatting often. Yu Peirong had never been the type to suspect people close to her. The assistant was responsible for many of Qi Xiyao’s daily affairs.
Knowing that Qi Xiyao was now nearing her heat cycle, Yu Peirong was filled with panic. She didn’t even stop to explain to the director and simply jumped into her car. While driving, she called the police.
“System, give me Qi Xiyao’s location.”
After taking a shortcut onto the highway and leaving the area, she requested coordinates. The system did not delay and immediately provided a location in the city center.
When Yu Peirong saw the name of the building, her lips pressed into a tight, cold line. Her fingers clenched around the steering wheel, tightening with force.
After leaving the highway, she sped through the intersection just before the yellow light turned red, sharply turning the wheel to pass several cars. As the speed limit signs on the city roads increased, a warning sounded for speeding. She was forced to slow down a little.
At first, she thought the assistant had taken Qi Xiyao to let an Alpha harass or forcibly mark her. But doing something like that on set would have drawn too much attention. Neither of those people had made much effort to hide their behavior. They would have been caught easily.
That could only mean the plan was something else.
A vulnerable Omega nearing her heat cycle, thrown into a busy public area—just thinking about the danger made Yu Peirong break into a cold sweat. Even a slight leak of pheromones could attract a crowd of Alphas.
After arriving in this world, Yu Peirong had become an Alpha herself. From the novel, she also knew that many Alphas had even worse self-control than Omegas. Once they sensed an Omega in heat, they often lost control completely and acted without thinking.
She could not imagine what might happen. She could only press down harder on the accelerator.
Qi Xiyao’s pheromones began to leak uncontrollably.
The two men who had dragged her out of the car had already fled, clearly paid to do the job and wanting no part of the chaos. Her hands were still tied, and her vision was blocked by a black cloth. It took her a long time to rip it off, draining the last of her energy.
She stumbled forward, barely able to walk.
Qi Xiyao only wanted to leave this place as quickly as possible. The chaotic environment and the overwhelming mix of scents hanging in the air were making her senses even more disoriented and hypersensitive.
She accidentally bumped into a passerby and quickly apologized, but her distressed appearance drew the person’s attention. The one she ran into was an Alpha. The woman had initially looked startled, ready to apologize, but the moment she caught a whiff of Qi Xiyao’s scent, she froze.
Her expression changed into a dazed, intoxicated look. Her gaze toward Qi Xiyao became sticky with unspoken desire. The Alpha’s oppressive presence surged forward as she released her pheromones. Qi Xiyao’s body trembled under the pressure, forcing herself to resist the invasive and aggressive scent through sheer willpower.
“You smell so good, pretty girl.”
As soon as Yu Peirong stepped out of her car, she saw a group of people gathered ahead. Many were holding up their phones, snapping photos and recording video.
The city lights made the night look as bright as day. Crowds flowed up and down the street, and plenty of bystanders had stopped to watch the scene unfold.
Sweat had soaked through Qi Xiyao’s shirt, outlining her delicate curves. Though the late autumn wind was chilly, she was wearing only a thin white blouse. Her stage makeup was still intact, making her look even more fragile and worn out. She looked like a cornered animal, fighting back against the Alphas surrounding her, glancing around the crowd in desperation, hoping someone would step in to help.
But all she saw were camera flashes. They lit up like sparks in the dark, and each burst of light made her face appear even paler. Her once bright and vivid features had lost all color.
The two Alphas pressing toward her were both high-ranking. They edged closer while subtly competing with one another. Their pheromones clashed in the air, the invisible forces crashing against each other like blades. Some in the crowd couldn’t stand the tension and had already fled.
At the center of this storm, Qi Xiyao was left with no choice. She bit down on the tip of her tongue, drawing blood, forcing herself to stay conscious.
Her head was spinning, her mouth dry, and her vision flickered in and out. Everything around her turned darker by the second.
When another wave of pheromones crashed into her like a tidal wave, she could no longer hold herself upright. Her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground.
The two Alphas were overjoyed. Qi Xiyao’s scent had completely intoxicated them, and neither of them could think straight. They didn’t care about consequences anymore. Just as they lunged forward, ready to claim her, two darts shot through the air with sharp, precise force.
The sound of needles piercing skin was nearly silent, but the moment the suppression shots hit their glands, an intense wave of numbness surged through their bodies. They instantly lost their sense of taste and smell.
A second ago, they had been brimming with power. Now, both collapsed like defanged beasts, gasping and wide-eyed with fear as they looked up at the tall woman standing over them.
Yu Peirong calmly put away her injection gun. Pushing through the crowd without hesitation, she swept Qi Xiyao off the ground into her arms.
At the same time, police sirens wailed as patrol cars arrived. Officers quickly cleared the scene and arrested the two deranged Alphas in handcuffs.
“Did you call this in?”
The police did not recognize Yu Peirong with her mask on. Officially, they requested that both she and Qi Xiyao come to the station to file a report.
She gave a soft “yes,” her voice flat and her face unreadable. Without saying more, she carried Qi Xiyao back to the car.
When Yu Peirong finally removed her mask and leaned over to check on the woman resting in the passenger seat, a kiss suddenly fell on her lips. It was warm, laced with the sweet scent of grapefruit tea and just a hint of pain from a desperate bite.
Qi Xiyao had kissed her.
