I Topped the Aloof Omega in a Scummy Alpha Novel - Chapter 14
Bian Yunchen was out of control.
If she had only smiled for a few seconds, it could have been considered a friendly smile.
But she stared at Xuan Yuchi for more than ten seconds, smiling unblinkingly. Xuan Yuchi secretly thought that something was wrong. Had she perhaps gone too far?
“I’ll go with you.”
“To reconcile?”
The smile finally revealed its true meaning—a stinging sarcasm.
Xuan Yuchi pursed her lips. If they weren’t going to reconcile, fine, but why use such a mocking tone?
Xuan Yuchi turned her head away, “I just said it casually, don’t take it to heart.”
The next second, her neck was grabbed, and she was forcefully turned so that her eyes met Bian Yunchen’s.
Bian Yunchen leaned forward, extremely close to Xuan Yuchi. So close that Xuan Yuchi could see herself reflected in her eyes and smell the cool fragrance on her.
Bian Yunchen was frowning. Her normally solitary, aloof, and cold expression gradually filled with sorrow. Just moments ago, she seemed disdainful, but now she looked utterly shattered, as if beneath an endless, continuous rain.
Xuan Yuchi felt the distance between them slowly closing until their lips were about to touch. Xuan Yuchi’s eyes widened.
Oh, for heaven’s sake, what was happening now?
A slender, beautiful finger moved up from Xuan Yuchi’s neck, gripping her slightly chubby cheek.
Xuan Yuchi’s body instinctively signaled fear and she tried to subtly move back, but was unable to retreat even an inch.
The hatred in the woman’s eyes flickered. Perhaps the fire of resentment had reddened her eyes, causing a tear to stream down.
Xuan Yuchi panicked even more. Why was Sister Bian crying? Shouldn’t she be the one crying? She had never seen Sister Bian cry in her whole life.
Damn it, seeing Sister Bian cry, amidst her panic, she actually felt a little secretly pleased.
Xuan Yuchi grabbed the hand Yunchen was using to pinch her face with both of her own hands, and smiled flatteringly, “Sister Bian, I was wrong.”
Even though she didn’t know what she was wrong about, she knew the situation was bad, and the smart thing to do was not to argue verbally.
“Do you know how much I hate you?” Bian Yunchen said, choking up, the surging sorrow almost swallowing her whole.
Xuan Yuchi shook her head slightly and continued to smile, ‘A hand doesn’t strike a smiling face,’ she thought. “I thought you liked me a lot. I was wrong. It turns out you really do hate me.”
After saying it, she herself felt inexplicably sad, but not because Yunchen hated her.
Bian Yunchen’s voice was hoarse, “From the day you left until now, I haven’t slept a single peaceful night.”
Her eye corners were red, like white porcelain stained with a touch of rouge. With her other hand, her thumb pressed into the outside of her index finger, as if trying to draw blood.
Why could a person disappear so completely without a trace?
If she had been a little more assertive back then, would she not have lost her?
For the first time, Bian Yunchen felt powerless in life.
Xuan Yuchi had completely vanished, and might never return.
She said in a deep voice, “But it doesn’t matter. No matter why you came back…”
Her gaze turned sinister, like a ghost in white, haggard and sickly.
Xuan Yuchi listened nervously. When she got nervous, she also lowered her head slightly, and her lips brushed against Bian Yunchen’s tiger’s mouth (the web between the thumb and index finger).
Both fell silent for half a second.
Xuan Yuchi’s mouth was covered, and she was so startled her heart was pounding. Yunchen kissed her forcefully, venting the long-suppressed emotions, as if she were consuming her, or sensing her presence.
No, no! They were so close to Bai Ci’s house! If anyone saw them, she would be finished!
Xuan Yuchi used all her strength to push her away and quickly grabbed two tissues to wipe the lipstick stain from her face.
Bian Yunchen’s back of the head hit the car window with a dull thud. She narrowed her eyes, looking at Xuan Yuchi, completely lacking the dominance she had moments ago.
She seemed… to have lost control again.
When Xuan Yuchi asked if she wanted to reconcile, she clearly wanted to say yes, but she rejected the idea as if her consciousness had detached.
Then she changed like another person and forcibly kissed Xuan Yuchi.
Bian Yunchen felt a rare moment of alarm. The facts proved that she had reached a point where she had to face that matter.
Xuan Yuchi’s heart pounded like a disco drum. She glanced outside the window like a thief and was momentarily relieved.
Yunchen seemed to have calmed down and restarted the car. Xuan Yuchi immediately began to pretend to sleep. She felt like she was an allergen; Yunchen became abnormal as soon as she was near her.
It was better to speak less. Remaining still and silent ensured safety.
Many thoughts flashed through Bian Yunchen’s mind. She caught a glimpse of Xuan Yuchi pretending to sleep and casually turned up the air conditioning.
How funny she was. If she were determined to do something to her, could she really escape?
She truly had a childish temperament.
Amy was going crazy. She had just finished a meeting, dealing with the public opinion surrounding Bian Yunchen’s alleged ‘panic attack’ during the fashion show, when she received a call from her boss, who said she was returning home early.
Amy wanted to say, “Boss, are you crazy? You have dinner with a certain fashion editor tomorrow night. Offending her is like offending the entire fashion circle.”
Amy didn’t say that sentence. She only said, “Understood. I will notify them and apologize for this matter.”
Bian Yunchen, “Contact Jessica and tell her to send over the tea set I received last month.”
Jessica rolled her eyes when she received Amy’s call, “Are you sure the Matriarch told me to send that tea set? The Old Madam finally managed to get it, and she said she wanted to show it off at the family dinner next month.”
Amy had seen the tea set at one of Bian Yunchen’s homes; it clearly cost a fortune. What a shame.
Jessica changed her tone, “I’m not complaining, though. This amount of money is nothing to the Matriarch. I’ll find a new one for the Old Madam sometime soon.”
Xuan Yuchi was sleeping on the plane. She originally thought Yunchen would stay in Bali a little longer after the itinerary ended, but Yunchen seemed to have urgent business and told her to pack her bags and return home.
It was even a private charter flight. It must be something hugely important.
She wasn’t that curious, though. Since returning to the hotel yesterday, she hadn’t spoken more than ten sentences to Bian Yunchen.
Thinking of Bian Yunchen, she remembered that kiss. She suspected Sister Bian was secretly reading CEO novels behind her back and had been corrupted.
Xuan Yuchi curled up on the bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
There was Wi-Fi on the plane, so Xuan Yuchi took out her phone to look up Shi Yan’s information. The records about Shi Yan online were scarce, with only three works: one short film and two features.
Xuan Yuchi clicked on one of the movies, and halfway through, she remembered that she and Yunchen had watched this movie in the theater back in college.
The content was very artistic, telling the story of a middle-aged woman who, after losing her daughter and wife, retired to the mountains, and then fell in love with a young local woman, also a widow, who lived in the forest.
The scenes showing their romance in the movie were nothing more than talking: standing and talking, sitting and talking, and lying together in the woods at night, talking.
Xuan Yuchi felt drowsy watching it and eventually fell asleep leaning on Yunchen’s shoulder.
She had a cold during that time and snored while sleeping. When she woke up, she remembered that the surrounding audience must have hated her.
But the movie hadn’t finished when she woke up. The theater, which had been full, now only had her and Yunchen left.
Yunchen told her to sleep a little longer if she hadn’t gotten enough rest. Xuan Yuchi asked why the others were gone. Yunchen said her snoring had driven them away.
Xuan Yuchi said, “Then they must be cursing me?”
She should have stayed awake. It was bad for her reputation. Xuan Yuchi went back to sleep, depressed.
Yunchen laughed there but wouldn’t say why.
After leaving the theater, she went to the restroom and overheard from a member of the audience who had been at the same showing that Yunchen had paid the other audience members five times the ticket price to go to the adjacent movie theater.
Xuan Yuchi snapped out of the memory, slapped her own face. No more thinking, no more thinking. She had serious work to do.
Xuan Yuchi finished watching Shi Yan’s other two written pieces, searching the entire web for information about Shi Yan, not even skipping the revelations made during fan squabbles.
Finally, she had a general portrait of Shi Yan in her mind.
This woman was an artsy snob, and the directors she worked with were also a breath of fresh air in the industry. Although she was a screenwriter, she was more like a director, personally approving the actors’ lines and absolutely forbidding them from changing her dialogue.
How could such an arrogant person willingly become a housewife…?
Xuan Yuchi: [666, does Shi Yan’s change have something to do with this world malfunctioning?]
System: [Host is so smart, so impressive oh.]
Xuan Yuchi: [Don’t talk like a prick.]
System: [Alrighty.]
Through their time together, Xuan Yuchi realized that this system was indeed a prick. If her attitude was weak, it would take advantage.
If she cursed it, it seemed to secretly enjoy it.
After reviewing the data for a long time, Xuan Yuchi finally fell asleep.
A flight attendant brought the in-flight meal. Xuan Yuchi looked at the table of Chinese food and exclaimed at how attentive the airline’s service was. They even had spare ribs with preserved plums and tea fragrance, and the taste was exceptionally authentic.
The flight attendant said that Bian had instructed someone to prepare these dishes and send them to the plane beforehand, and they only reheated them.
Xuan Yuchi thought these ribs were too delicious, infused with Sister Bian’s deep apology.
She ate all the served food and then lay down to sleep again. Just a few seconds after falling asleep, she got up and said to the flight attendant, “Please tell Bian that I reluctantly forgive her a tiny bit.”
The flight attendant felt a slight pang of amusement, collected the dishes, and went to Bian Yunchen’s suite.
The flight attendant told Bian Yunchen, “Miss Xuan ate very well.”
Bian Yunchen’s cold face softened slightly.
Not everything is changed by time. She might not like cheese, but perhaps she still had a fondness for the spare ribs with preserved plums and tea fragrance.
The flight attendant then relayed the message Miss Xuan asked her to deliver.
Bian Yunchen’s long eyelashes drooped, and she let out a scoff.
“Are you very concerned about Miss Xuan?”
“That’s strange,” the flight attendant said.
A normal flight attendant wouldn’t say something so out of line.
Bian Yunchen looked at her calmly, “Who are you?”
The flight attendant pulled a gun from her trousers, cocked it, and aimed it at Bian Yunchen, “Miss Bian, your attitude is very much disliked by them.”
Bian Yunchen, “Them?”
The flight attendant, “You should be clear about your influence domestically and internationally, but you are unwilling to serve them. If you are not an ally, then you are an enemy.”
Bian Yunchen sneered, “So they sent you to kill me?”
The flight attendant, “You still have one chance to make a choice.”
Bian Yunchen nonchalantly cut a small piece of steak, “My choice remains unchanged.”
The flight attendant, “That’s a pity. Actually, I’m also a fan of your films.”
The flight attendant pulled the trigger. One bullet…
There was no bullet!
Plainclothes special agents had been waiting outside the door for a long time. Bian Yunchen tapped the edge of the plate with a dinner knife.
Three clear, soft taps sounded. The agents immediately slid open the door and entered the suite, subduing the flight attendant.
The flight attendant was shocked, “You’ve been colluding with the opposition for a long time?!”
Bian Yunchen gave her a cold look, “Take her away.”
Xuan Yuchi slept until the plane landed. She slept soundly and sweetly, waking up full of energy. She asked the flight attendant for an iced Americano to reduce puffiness and happily got off the plane, following behind Bian Yunchen.
Bian Yunchen seemed very busy, taking calls the whole way, and speaking in what sounded like riddles. Xuan Yuchi understood every word, but combined, she couldn’t comprehend the meaning.
The driver had been waiting outside the terminal for a long time. Xuan Yuchi asked if he could take her home.
Bian Yunchen said, “We need to go somewhere first.”
Xuan Yuchi asked, “Where are we going?”
Bian Yunchen, “The hospital.”
