I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 20
Que Hanfu and Zhu Xinya arrived at Fengruo Film Studio and found the “Dream of the Square Court” crew exactly at nine o’clock.
They were only minor roles and should have arrived earlier, but because Zhu Xinya needed to vent her frustrations about Li Heng, Que Hanfu spent a long time comforting her after parking the car, which delayed them.
The only relief was that they weren’t late.
Qi Zhou wasn’t on set today and had given Que Hanfu the director’s contact information. After parking the car, Que Hanfu contacted the director.
Zhu Xinya curiously looked around.
“Dream of the Square Court” was a grand historical fantasy production with an episodic story structure. The protagonist was a prince obsessed with cultivating immortality but unable to find the right method, leading him to embark on adventures across the land before finally attaining enlightenment and ascending.
Que Hanfu played the role of the Bright Saintess, while Zhu Xinya played Wen Ruan both characters from the Kingdom of Hongming in the first story arc.
Though the kingdom was fictional, the filming set was designed with an exotic flair, with colorful building exteriors that were dazzling to the eye.
“Let’s go find the director,” Que Hanfu said, coming over to call Zhu Xinya after finishing her phone call.
Zhu Xinya glanced at the crew members around them and leaned close to Que Hanfu’s ear, whispering, “There are so many colors on the buildings, I’m starting to feel color-blind. I hope our costumes have fewer colors.” Otherwise, their outfits would blend into the scenery, and the audience wouldn’t even notice them.
Que Hanfu replied, “Don’t worry.”
As it turned out, Zhu Xinya’s concerns were justified.
After meeting with the director, who expressed great satisfaction with them, he instructed the assistant director to arrange for them to change into costumes, get their makeup done, and review the script. They were scheduled for a night shoot, which was why they had arrived so early preparing their looks was no easy task.
Both had short hair, and wearing wigs would look unnatural, so hair extensions were the only option.
The process of attaching the extensions strand by strand was time-consuming.
Since coming to this world, Zhu Xinya had been pampered by her parents and no longer had to worry about money, making her somewhat more delicate. After sitting for just an hour, she grew restless, feeling uncomfortable all over and fidgeting in her chair.
Que Hanfu noticed her miserable expression out of the corner of her eye and reassured her, “You only have to endure this once. If you take good care of the extensions, they can last for a while, so you won’t have to go through this again next week.”
“That may be true!” Zhu Xinya pouted, her voice soft and whiny as if she were sulking, “but I’m so uncomfortable right now. If it weren’t for acting alongside you, I wouldn’t put up with this.”
Since they were sitting close, Que Hanfu reached out, took her hand, and gently squeezed her fingers, saying, “I know.”
A tingling sensation shot through Zhu Xinya’s fair fingertips, and she swallowed her complaints, her ears turning red as she sat obediently for the rest of the hair extension process.
From then on, her attention was entirely focused on Que Hanfu’s hand holding hers. Even after the hairstylist finished and patted her shoulder saying, “All done,” Zhu Xinya remained sitting upright, motionless.
The two hairstylists were also quite tired. After completing the extensions, they said, “There’s still plenty of time. Rest for half an hour, and then we’ll do your makeup.”
“Thank you,” Que Hanfu said.
The hairstylists were pleasantly surprised. “No need, no need, it’s our job.”
They had initially thought Que Hanfu was an aloof, cold beauty, but she turned out to be quite polite.
Once the hairstylists left and the other actors were on set filming, only Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu remained in the dressing room. Que Hanfu’s thumb gently stroked Zhu Xinya’s hand once more before she withdrew her hand and stood up from her seat.
The warmth in Zhu Xinya’s hand faded, and as she snapped back to reality, her body instinctively moved, causing a wave of soreness to wash over her. She groaned softly in pain.
Having sat motionless for two or three hours, her entire body had stiffened, and with every movement, her joints creaked like old, rusty machinery.
Que Hanfu, who often maintained the same posture for hours during experiments, was already accustomed to it. Though her body felt somewhat stiff, a little movement was enough to ease the discomfort unlike Zhu Xinya, who was being overly dramatic.
Zhu Xinya felt pain in her buttocks, lower back, spine, and neck. Her moist eyes welled up with tears, dampening her eyelashes.
“Sister, please massage me quickly,” Zhu Xinya said as she walked over to Que Hanfu, turning her back to her and urging her on. “After you finish, I’ll massage you. Right now, I feel like a rusty robot.”
Zhu Xinya’s once-short bob had grown into shoulder-length hair, her raven-black locks cascading over her slender back.
Que Hanfu reached out and gathered her long hair, pulling it over her left shoulder to rest in front of her.
A small section of her snow-white neck emerged from the dark strands. Though Que Hanfu had a cool and distant temperament, her palms were always warm, regardless of the season.
She placed her right palm over Zhu Xinya’s delicate nape. The contrast between her pale skin and Zhu Xinya’s snowy complexion made it hard to tell which was fairer, it was as if light shimmered before their eyes.
Que Hanfu lowered her gaze, supporting Zhu Xinya’s arm with her left hand while gently kneading her neck with her right. After just a few presses, Zhu Xinya’s body noticeably relaxed.
“Ah, that feels so good,” Zhu Xinya’s voice was soft and filled with curiosity. “Sister, how are you so good at massaging?”
Que Hanfu, feeling the smooth texture beneath her fingertips, replied calmly, “I studied it before.”
Zhu Xinya sighed in admiration. “Sister, you truly live up to your reputation. You excel at so many things, I’ve never met an all-rounder like you.”
“It’s nothing,” Que Hanfu said. She had only learned these skills out of curiosity, wanting to master everything that piqued her interest.
“Sister, could you massage my shoulders too?” Zhu Xinya began pushing her luck.
Que Hanfu’s pale hands silently shifted position.
“Sister, my waist, my waist hurts too,” Zhu Xinya chattered incessantly.
After ten minutes of massaging, Zhu Xinya finally felt rejuvenated.
She turned around, her cheeks flushed pink, and smiled sweetly. “Sister, it’s my turn to massage you now~”
Que Hanfu’s heart skipped a beat, and her usually indifferent gaze flickered slightly. “No need,” she refused softly.
Zhu Xinya insisted, “That won’t do. You massaged me, so I have to return the favor.”
“Even if my technique isn’t as good as yours and my hands aren’t as strong, it’ll still feel better than nothing.” She moved behind Que Hanfu.
Que Hanfu’s tea-colored, voluminous curls cascaded down her back, winding all the way to her slender waist, making it appear as if it could be encircled by a single hand. Zhu Xinya’s eyes sparkled with admiration. “So beautiful.”
The thought of Zhu Xinya’s soft, delicate hands resting on her shoulders and kneading them made Que Hanfu’s heart flutter with an indescribable unease. She tried to keep her tone calm. “Yaya, I can manage on my own.”
Before she could finish her sentence, Zhu Xinya suddenly embraced her from behind or rather, embraced her long hair. “I really love long hair. It’s a pity I don’t have the patience to take care of it, but being able to see your hair like this already makes me so happy.”
Zhu Xinya was very close to Que Hanfu, her warm breath absorbed by the fluffy strands of hair. The strands brushed against the back of Que Hanfu’s neck, hot and scorching, causing a thin layer of sweat to instantly form along her spine.
A shadow flickered in her cool eyes as she suddenly grew intrigued by her own unusual palpitations.
Perhaps she should investigate what exactly made her heart soften so exceptionally and her reactions so intense whenever she faced Zhu Xinya.
