I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 21
During the two-hour lunch break, Zhu Xinya and Que Hanfu received boxed meals from the crew three dishes with soup and rice as the staple. As for the taste, it could only be described as average.
Zhu Xinya took a bite and was quite disdainful, while Que Hanfu remained unfazed, eating bite after bite until she had finished most of it.
Zhu Xinya put down her boxed meal and exclaimed in amazement, “Sister, how can you eat this? Even the cafeteria food at school tastes better than this.” She cast a disdainful glance at the boxed meal on the ground.
Que Hanfu replied, “The taste is acceptable. I’ve had worse.” After moving out and living on her own, Que Hanfu had started learning to cook. At first, her dishes were barely edible, but she ate them anyway. The crew’s boxed meals were far better than what she used to make.
Zhu Xinya took a sip of mineral water and said, “I’ve had worse too, but I just can’t stand this taste now.” Ultimately, it came down to her being spoiled.
Que Hanfu frowned and asked, “Are you really not going to eat? What about the evening shoot? The night scenes will go on until midnight.”
Zhu Xinya felt she could endure it. “Let’s just say I’m on a diet. Being thinner looks better on camera!”
Que Hanfu stood up and pulled Zhu Xinya to her feet. “Come with me.”
Zhu Xinya, puzzled, hurried to keep up. “Sister, where are you taking me?”
Que Hanfu led her for over ten minutes until they reached a two-story residential house. She walked up, took out a key, unlocked the door, and turned to Zhu Xinya. “Come in. I’ll cook for you.”
Real estate in the film and television city was extremely expensive, yet Que Hanfu had actually bought a two-story house. Astonished, Zhu Xinya followed her inside.
Before Zhu Xinya could ask, Que Hanfu explained, “I was interested in acting before and thought I’d come to Fengruo Film and Television City for inspiration when I had time. To make it convenient, I bought this house. I originally planned to bring you here to stay overnight, but I didn’t expect you to refuse even lunch.”
Zhu Xinya followed Que Hanfu step by step into the kitchen. Que Hanfu opened the refrigerator, which was filled with fruits, vegetables, milk, and mineral water.
“I can understand buying a house out of interest, but why is the fridge so well-stocked?” Zhu Xinya’s small face was full of confusion.
“I bought it as a resale. The previous owner helped me stock up before moving out.”
“Sister, you must have paid the previous owner quite a bit,” Zhu Xinya remarked.
Sister really is wealthy!
“About twenty percent above market price,” Que Hanfu joked lightly. “But not as rich as the wealthiest person in Longcheng.”
It turned out Zhu Xinya had accidentally voiced her thoughts aloud.
Zhu Xinya’s face flushed with embarrassment. “My dad is older, after all. By the time you’re in your forties, you’ll definitely be richer than him.”
Que Hanfu’s calm gaze fixed on Zhu Xinya, who couldn’t help but meet her eyes.
“By then, Yaya, you can calculate and compare to see whose assets are greater.”
Twenty years later?
Was Que Hanfu hinting that their relationship would remain as strong as it is now, or even better, so that Zhu Xinya would know exactly how much Que Hanfu owned to compare with the Zhu family’s wealth.
Zhu Xinya’s heart raced wildly, as if it were about to leap out of her chest.
Her delicate brows relaxed, her eyes sparkling with joy, and her pink lips curved into an unstoppable smile. “Alright, I’ll do the math in twenty years.” It was settled.
Que Hanfu was the first to look away. “You can go rest on the sofa for a while.”
Zhu Xinya quickly replied, “I want to stand right now. Since you’re cooking for me, I can’t just sit around doing nothing. How about I wash the vegetables?”
Que Hanfu asked, “Are you sure you know how to wash vegetables?” The pampered daughter of the wealthiest family in the city, who couldn’t even stomach boxed meals could she really wash vegetables?
“Of course, I can! Don’t underestimate me, Sister.” Zhu Xinya rolled up her sleeves, determined to show Que Hanfu what she was capable of.
Seeing Zhu Xinya’s posture, which looked as if she were about to pick a fight, Que Hanfu thought it over and resolutely “chased” her out of the kitchen.
Zhu Xinya was short and not very strong. With one arm wrapped around her waist, Que Hanfu effortlessly guided her to the living room. “If you’re bored, watch some TV. Be good.”
At the word “good,” Zhu Xinya’s face instantly flushed red, and she deflated like a balloon. “I’m not a child. What’s with this ‘be good’ nonsense?”
Que Hanfu patted her head, turned on the TV, and placed the remote in Zhu Xinya’s hand. “Pick something you like to watch.” Then she turned and went back to the kitchen.
Zhu Xinya randomly selected a channel and stood there absentmindedly watching for a while. Unable to resist, she eventually made her way back to the kitchen to check on Que Hanfu’s progress.
To avoid being caught “disobeying,” Zhu Xinya tiptoed over, convinced she hadn’t made a sound.
But the moment she stopped outside the kitchen and looked up, her eyes met Que Hanfu’s light-colored ones.
Zhu Xinya stammered, “I was just taking a walk and happened to end up here. I’ll head back right now, haha.”
Que Hanfu watched as Zhu Xinya turned around, her raven-black hair fanning out in the air before settling back on her shoulders. The flustered sight brought a faint smile to Que Hanfu’s eyes.
Zhu Xinya’s first “mission” had failed. She obediently watched the midday news for a while, only to spot Zhu Yin and Fang Fang on the screen.
The philanthropic couple, the wealthiest in Longcheng, had made it onto the midday news. Zhu Xinya felt a surge of pride. Such a big event had to be shared with Que Hanfu!
She paused the TV with the remote and cheerfully ran to the kitchen. Just as Que Hanfu turned off the stove and glanced over, Zhu Xinya blinked innocently and said, “Sister, I’m not here to cause trouble. I just saw my parents on the midday news. Do you want to take a moment to come and see?”
Que Hanfu walked over, gently turned her around 180 degrees, and said, “The food is almost ready. You can watch the midday news replay later. There’s no rush.”
Zhu Xinya’s eyes widened in disbelief. Was that even an option?
In the end, Zhu Xinya had no choice but to watch TV alone until Que Hanfu brought out the dishes.
Que Hanfu’s cooking was simple: scrambled eggs with tomatoes, vibrant red and golden yellow, and shrimp stir-fried with cucumbers, pale pink and emerald green. Just the colors of the dishes made Zhu Xinya’s mouth water, not to mention the tantalizing aroma wafting through the air. The smell alone was enough to make her want to eat.
Zhu Xinya swallowed quietly. “Sister, did you make this?”
The novel had never mentioned Que Hanfu’s cooking skills. Even during the warmest moments between Li Heng and Que Hanfu, she had never cooked for him.
Who would have thought Que Hanfu’s culinary skills were this impressive!
“It smells amazing, Sister. Would you like to eat some with me?” Zhu Xinya asked.
Que Hanfu replied, “You go ahead. I’ll go watch the midday news replay.”
“Mhm! At 12:18, my parents showed up!”
Zhu Xinya contentedly held her bowl while devouring the meal this was home-cooked food personally prepared by Que Hanfu, something even Li Heng had never tasted!
