I Stole the Male Lead's White Moonlight [Transmigration] - Chapter 18
After finishing a lecture for the economics majors, Que Hanfu had the entire large classroom of over a hundred students completely captivated by her profound knowledge and unparalleled beauty. Every gaze directed at her was filled with admiration. If not for her icy demeanor that made people hesitant to approach, the moment the class ended, she would have been surrounded by a crowd of students eager to ask questions.
Zhu Xinya still had another class to attend, which was also held in the same classroom. Listening to the discussions about Que Hanfu around her, Zhu Xinya felt a secret thrill and sent a WeChat message to the departing professor.
Zhu Xinya: Sis, your charm is just too powerful. Everyone in our major, regardless of gender, is completely smitten by you including me [blushing].
Zhu Xinya: Sis, how are we getting to Fengruo Film Studio tomorrow? Should I have my family driver take us?
Zhu Xinya lowered her head, grinning foolishly as she waited for Que Hanfu’s reply.
“Yaya, what are you up to?” Lu Mengrou had just returned home to the campus for her second class. When she found Zhu Xinya’s seat in the classroom, she saw Zhu Xinya with her forehead pressed against the desk, hands hidden underneath, her slender back curved in a gentle arc. Curious about what she was doing, Lu Mengrou couldn’t help but ask.
Hearing Lu Mengrou’s voice, Zhu Xinya looked up excitedly. “Mengrou, you’re back! Sit, sit, I saved this spot just for you.”
Lu Mengrou sat down beside her, and Zhu Xinya put away her phone, eagerly sharing her progress.
“I was just texting Professor Que!”
“My relationship with Professor Que is really great now!”
“Professor Que has helped me so much!”
“We’re even going to act together in a drama shoot tomorrow!”
“Acting?” Lu Mengrou’s interest was piqued. “Will we get to see Qi Zhou?”
Zhu Xinya replied, “Of course! We’re going to Qi Zhou’s set.”
Lu Mengrou said enviously, “Yaya, you’re amazing. I’d love to watch Qi Zhou act too.”
When Lu Mengrou first became a fan of Qi Zhou, she had considered having her family invest in a drama so she could act alongside him. But after taking one acting class, she realized she had no talent for it.
As a devoted “mom fan,” she only wanted to see her “son” focus on his career. She didn’t want to spend money watching Qi Zhou get intimate with other women, so she gave up on the idea.
At the time, the Lu family had shown interest in investing in the script, but when Lu Mengrou suddenly lost interest, they decided against it. As it turned out, Qi Zhou’s acting skills back then weren’t much better than Lu Mengrou’s, and the drama he starred in ended up being a massive flop.
Later, Lu Mengrou’s family praised her for her foresight, as she had saved them a considerable amount of money. That sum eventually became part of Lu Mengrou’s allowance, which left her feeling rather frustrated.
“Why don’t you come visit the set tomorrow? It’s at Fengruo Film Studio. You might even get to see Qi Zhou.”
Lu Mengrou sighed dejectedly. “According to his fan group’s schedule, Qi Zhou has an event tomorrow. He won’t be on set.”
Zhu Xinya patted her shoulder reassuringly. “No worries! If Qi Zhou isn’t there tomorrow, come the day after. I have scenes then too!”
“Really? I’ll definitely be there the day after!” Lu Mengrou exclaimed, clenching her fists in excitement.
In the novel, the first time Li Heng left an impression on Que Hanfu was during their encounter on the set of Fangting’s Forgotten Dream.
Li Heng was one of the investors for Fangting’s Forgotten Dream. Upon hearing that Que Hanfu would be acting, he immediately abandoned his date with his fiancée and went to the set under the pretense of visiting Qi Zhou but his true intention was to see Que Hanfu.
Que Hanfu joined the film crew as an unexpected addition. Though well-known in academic circles, she was a complete newcomer to the entertainment industry, and it was inevitable that some in the crew would take a dislike to her and try to trip her up.
Li Heng helped Que Hanfu deal with a minor antagonist, and that was how the two of them became acquainted.
Zhu Xinya and Qi Zhou’s main goal in securing their roles was to share scenes with Que Hanfu, while their secondary objective was to prevent Li Heng from causing Que Hanfu any harm.
She wanted to see how the male lead who, in Que Hanfu’s eyes, was morally corrupt, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, and a refined scoundrel would approach the female lead, gain her trust, and then drag her into the abyss.
With Zhu Xinya around, all those wild ideas in Li Heng’s head were nothing but a pipe dream!
Tomorrow was going to be a big day of battle, and she needed to conserve her energy.
After finalizing the departure time with Que Hanfu, Zhu Xinya went to bed early that night.
The next day, awakened by her alarm, Zhu Xinya groggily sat up, got out of bed, and went to wash up.
After finishing her skincare and makeup, she stood in front of the mirror, patted her rosy cheeks, and gave herself a little “you can do it” gesture.
The girl in the mirror looked vibrant and full of life her eyes bright and sparkling, her nose delicate and upturned, her lips soft and pink, all complemented by smooth, fair skin. She was the picture of radiant beauty.
Her phone, left in the bedroom, started ringing. Zhu Xinya didn’t have time to admire her own beauty and hurried out to answer it.
“Sis, are you here yet?” Zhu Xinya answered the call, her voice bright and sweet.
“Mm,” Que Hanfu replied, as cool and concise as ever.
Zhu Xinya said, “I’ll be right down!”
She quickly grabbed a jacket and dashed downstairs.
“Mom, I’m heading out.” Zhu Xinya gave Fang Fang a quick hug in the living room.
“You haven’t had breakfast yet!” Fang Fang said.
“I’ll grab something on the way,” Zhu Xinya waved behind her as she stepped out of the villa’s front door.
Que Hanfu’s car was parked outside the villa complex. Zhu Xinya ran over and saw Que Hanfu waiting for her beside a sapphire-blue car.
The morning sun, like golden sand, filtered through the tender green leaves and scattered around Que Hanfu.
Her soft, wavy hair cascaded over her shoulders, her light-colored eyes clear and bright, her red lips now a striking shade of orange. Even her cool, pale complexion seemed to carry a hint of warmth.
Zhu Xinya eagerly ran over and stopped in front of Que Hanfu. “Sis!” Her eyes sparkled.
Que Hanfu raised her hand, her slender, pale fingers gently smoothing Zhu Xinya’s messy strands of hair. “Have you eaten breakfast?”
Perhaps it was the golden, sand-like sunlight, but Que Hanfu’s usually cool voice seemed to carry a warmth, like a gentle spring stream flowing through Zhu Xinya’s entire being.
Zhu Xinya replied, “Not yet.” She had used the time she would have spent eating to do her makeup instead.
She patted her stomach pitifully. “Sis, have you eaten?”
Que Hanfu opened the passenger door for her. “No. What would you like to eat? We still have time, I’ll take you.”
Zhu Xinya got into the car and fastened her seatbelt. Que Hanfu got in from the other side and took the driver’s seat.
“I’d like some soup dumplings and millet congee,” Zhu Xinya said, knowing Que Hanfu also enjoyed these.
Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, Que Hanfu’s lips seemed to curl slightly, and her overall demeanor grew even warmer.
After breakfast, the two continued their drive to Fengruo Film Studio. Zhu Xinya was talkative and kept the conversation going, bringing up all sorts of topics to chat with Que Hanfu along the way. Que Hanfu kept her eyes on the road, occasionally responding with a word or two.
While waiting for the traffic light, a piercing ringtone suddenly blared from Zhu Xinya’s phone.
It was the custom ringtone she had set for Li Heng, titled “The Hypocritical Scumbag.”
Que Hanfu turned to glance at Zhu Xinya and noticed her staring blankly at the phone, making no move to answer it. “Who is it? Why aren’t you picking up?” she asked.
Startled, Zhu Xinya flusteredly answered the call, pressing the phone to her ear. Her rosy cheeks turned pale, and her voice trembled as she whispered, “Hello?”
She had begun her performance.
