I Quit Being This Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 7
When Xun Fangyun arrived at the restaurant entrance, the manager greeted her.
“President Xun.”
Xun Fangyun had left in such a hurry that she hadn’t put on her coat. She was currently only wearing a black slip dress that hugged her body, causing passersby to stare briefly. She stood at the restaurant entrance, scanned the area, and asked: “Where are they?”
The manager knew who Xun Fangyun was referring to and said: “The owner finished her meal and drove that young lady back. They left not long ago.”
Xun Fangyun frowned. She turned and walked away without saying a word.
She called Mang Ke again, and this time, she finally answered.
“Yun Yun~”
Judging by her tone, she had eaten well.
Xun Fangyun’s anger, which had been boiling moments ago, was completely extinguished by the nickname ‘Yun Yun.’ She said helplessly: “Where are you?”
“I’m in your company’s first-floor lobby,” Mang Ke replied: “Where are you?”
“I’m on my way back now.”
“Then hurry back. I brought something for you.”
Xun Fangyun soon arrived at the company and saw Mang Ke sitting on the sofa playing on her phone, one hand rapidly tapping the screen, apparently playing a game.
The sound of black leather boots stepping on the floor caught Mang Ke’s attention. She looked up and saw Xun Fangyun walking toward her. She stood up happily and said: “You’re here! I’ve been waiting for you for a long time. Did you eat?”
Xun Fangyun stared at her with a sullen expression, which made Mang Ke uneasy. She blinked her eyes, asking cautiously: “Did you not eat?”
Looking at Xun Fangyun’s car parked outside, could she have gone… to catch me having an affair?
The fact that she had gone out to eat with Yue Yin (悅茵) clearly hadn’t been kept a secret. Mang Ke knew that Xun Fangyun still had feelings for her first love at this stage, and seeing her face look so awful…
“Well, Yue Yin and I, she…”
Before Mang Ke could explain, Xun Fangyun coldly said: “I don’t care who you go on a date with, but you are not allowed to eat tonight.”
Mang Ke: “???” Why!
Mang Ke exclaimed: “Why can’t I eat!”
Xun Fangyun also angrily retorted: “Who told you to run around!”
“I came to bring you something, but you didn’t answer my calls! How was I running around?”
“I didn’t hear your call. Couldn’t you have called twice more!”
Mang Ke: “???” Why should I call twice more just because you didn’t answer my call!
Xun Fangyun saw her looking utterly shocked and also snapped: “You came here to accompany me! Why did you go out to eat with unrelated people? I haven’t even eaten yet!”
Mang Ke glared with wide eyes: “Why are you blaming me because you haven’t eaten! That’s absurd! I hope you starve to death!”
After saying this, Mang Ke shoved the bag into Xun Fangyun’s arms, turned, and marched out of the lobby.
The two front desk staff standing nearby watched Xun Fangyun, too scared to utter a word. Good heavens, who was that girl just now? How dare she shout at President Xun? Her voice isn’t weak either. She must be a girl with an impressive background.
Xun Fangyun looked at the bag in her hands. She opened it and saw her favorite pair of gloves and two bags of dried fruit. Mang Ke had waited here for her for over two hours just for these things.
Was I… too harsh just now? I should be gentle with Mang Ke, but the words that came out of my mouth were fueled by irritation. I’m annoyed that she came here for me but was hijacked halfway, and I still haven’t eaten…
Damn it, when will I ever be able to fix this stubborn habit of mine!
Xun Fangyun looked back at the two people at the front desk and coldly said: “Next time that girl comes, send her directly up to my office to rest.”
The front desk staff shivered: “Yes, President Xun.” They were left wondering: What is the relationship between these two? Why is she being so kind to the girl right after fighting with her?
The older employee said to her colleague: “Why do I suddenly feel that tsundere is also very sweet?”
True to her word, Mang Ke refused to eat. Aunt Liu made her favorite curry rice, but she didn’t even look at it. Aunt Liu carried the curry rice and turned to Xun Fangyun, who had come home on time today, and said: “Did you upset Miss Mang Ke?”
Xun Fangyun stubbornly replied: “When did I upset her? Aunt Liu, don’t talk nonsense.”
Aunt Liu: “If you didn’t upset her, why hasn’t she come downstairs since she got back?”
Xun Fangyun: “…”
Aunt Liu: “Take this. Go deliver the food.”
Xun Fangyun: “…” She obediently took the bowl.
Around 8 PM, Mang Ke was truly starving. She quietly got up, intending to open the door and forage for food, only to see a serving of cold curry rice placed outside her door.
Mang Ke: “…???” Why would there be a bowl of cold leftover rice sitting outside the door? Is this… an offering to the ancestors?
The next morning, Mang Ke was sleeping in bed when the chirping of birds started outside the window. The sound wasn’t loud, but Mang Ke soon woke up. The autumn morning was still cool. Mang Ke, with bare feet on the floor, felt cold. She shivered as she left the room to use the restroom before getting back into bed, but the second-floor restroom was already occupied.
White steam drifted out of the bathroom. Mang Ke, wearing pajamas, stared at the misty figure behind the frosted glass, somewhat mesmerized. Slender waist, narrow shoulders, and long legs. Although the steam was heavy in the bathroom, what needed to be seen was still clear. The black long hair revealed the owner’s identity: Xun Fangyun was taking a shower early in the morning.
Mang Ke quickly turned around. The bathroom was small, and the sound of rushing water filled her ears, making Mang Ke’s heart beat quickly. Her cheeks couldn’t help but flush. She rubbed her cheeks, feeling them warm, unsure if it was from the steam or from having accidentally glimpsed Xun Fangyun’s body.
“Aunt Liu.”
Just then, Xun Fangyun, who was rinsing off, spoke with her back to Mang Ke: “Can you hand me a bath towel?”
Mang Ke froze on the spot. Did she… mistake me for someone else?
Hearing no movement outside the door, Xun Fangyun continued: “Help me grab the bath towel. It’s on the rack next to you.”
Mang Ke subconsciously glanced at the nearby rack and saw a bath towel hanging there. If I don’t respond, will Xun Fangyun turn around?
Mang Ke carefully took a peek. She only saw Xun Fangyun with her back to her. Her elegant waistline made Mang Ke’s heart pound like a drum.
The little devil crawled out of her heart, poking Mang Ke with its little stick: Go for it! Go for it! Go for it! Go for it!
Mang Ke grit her teeth, grabbed the bath towel hanging next to her, knocked on the glass door, and handed it through the gap.
Xun Fangyun turned around when she heard the sound. She saw Mang Ke holding the glass doorknob with one hand, while the other hand, clutching the bath towel she had asked for, was extended through the door crack.
“Um…” Mang Ke blushed, whispering: “I didn’t deliberately try to peep at you showering. Don’t misunderstand.”
Xun Fangyun looked at her. As their eyes met, Mang Ke’s face instantly turned crimson.
Instead of taking the towel, Xun Fangyun turned down the showerhead’s water pressure slightly, turned back, held Mang Ke’s hand, and asked calmly: “Want to wash together?”
Mang Ke: “!!!”
“Who wants to shower with you!” Mang Ke said angrily, her face red: “Yesterday you wouldn’t let me eat, and now you’re inviting me to shower with you! Have you no shame!”
Xun Fangyun was amused by her reaction. She exerted force on Mang Ke’s hand, trapping her in the crack of the glass door so she couldn’t move.
“You!” Mang Ke tried to struggle, but realized that in her current position, she couldn’t break free at all. She was like a clam whose soft flesh had been caught, completely at the mercy of others. Most importantly, the person taking advantage of her was standing naked in the shower, shamelessly teasing her.
“I snapped at you yesterday,” Xun Fangyun said: “You’ve been angry all night. Shouldn’t you forgive me now?”
Mang Ke gritted her teeth: “Before you say that, could you please put on some clothes?”
