I Quit Being This Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 8
The steam in the bathroom gradually dissipated. Mang Ke sat on the edge of the bed, watching Xun Fangyun walk back and forth in front of her.
After putting on her bathrobe, Xun Fangyun did not forget to pull Mang Ke into the room. In her words—to handle the gap between the two of them.
Thus, this scene unfolded: Mang Ke sitting on the bed watching Xun Fangyun pace around.
Xun Fangyun had just finished showering and hadn’t dried her hair yet. The black long hair clung to her cheeks. Crystal water droplets slid down her face, falling onto the bathrobe on her chest, spreading into a wet stain. She casually flicked back her wet hair, took a clean towel from a nearby cabinet, and handed it to Mang Ke.
Mang Ke didn’t take it.
Xun Fangyun’s dark eyes held a hint of amusement. She parted her red lips: “Help me dry my hair.”
Mang Ke blinked, quietly muttering: “Why should I help you dry your hair? Can’t you just use a hairdryer?”
“I don’t like the smell of the hairdryer,” Xun Fangyun told Mang Ke.
Mang Ke looked up at the scattered black long hair on Xun Fangyun’s shoulders. The carefully tended long hair, even in this state, was as glossy as ink, like the fur of a black cat—lush and dense.
Mang Ke lightly coughed, reached out to take the soft towel, consciously moved back a little, and patted the empty space in front of her, signaling Xun Fangyun: “Fine, I’ll reluctantly help you dry your hair. Come and sit here.”
Xun Fangyun chuckled and did not refuse, turning around and sitting in front of Mang Ke.
The pitch-black long hair in front of her made Mang Ke feel a little envious. She naturally had chestnut hair with a slight wave that would puff up like a lion’s mane if not regularly managed, especially in winter, a season prone to static, which annoyed her immensely. So, when Mang Ke touched Xun Fangyun’s long hair, admiration outweighed any other thoughts.
Xun Fangyun felt the comforting sensation on her scalp. Her body leaned back slightly, half-reclining on Mang Ke.
Autumn pajamas were not as thick as winter ones. Xun Fangyun could feel the other person’s warm body temperature and her gradually accelerating heartbeat.
“You… you’re leaning so close. How am I supposed to help you dry your hair?” The person behind her complained quietly, but her body was honest, letting Xun Fangyun lean against her. What a contradictory woman.
Xun Fangyun sighed gently: “Mang Ke, you’ve been at my house for nearly a month, haven’t you?”
Mang Ke calculated, and indeed, it would be one month in a few days. “Mhm, it’ll be a full month next week.”
“Don’t you wonder why I only let you stay home and don’t require you to go anywhere?”
Mang Ke heard this and lightly chuckled: “Aren’t I the rich madam?”
Xun Fangyun let out a soft laugh: “That’s right. From now on, you are my wife.”
Mang Ke seemed to have heard a suggestive word. She couldn’t help but say, slightly embarrassed: “Um…”
“Let’s go register our marriage today,” Xun Fangyun said calmly: “We have to do it eventually, so why not today?”
Hearing this, Mang Ke’s hands paused their movement. What?? Register the marriage???? Isn’t this too fast!!!!
Mang Ke nervously asked: “Why?”
Xun Fangyun turned to look at her: “Do I need to ask why to marry you?”
“I…” For a moment, Mang Ke felt this person wasn’t wrong. She was a substitute bride, so she definitely had to register her marriage with the other party. She had already lived in Xun Fangyun’s house for a month. It was about time for the marriage registration.
But… Mang Ke blushed and said: “This is my first marriage. I don’t have much experience. Can we not rush it?”
Xun Fangyun’s face also looked a little strange, her earlobes slightly red as she told Mang Ke: “As if it’s any different for me.”
Their eyes met. Mang Ke saw a subtle, meaningful emotion in Xun Fangyun’s gaze. She seemed… to want to do something else. Before Mang Ke could understand the meaning in her eyes, she felt a hand grasp her waist, pulling her closer.
“You are my fiancée.” Xun Fangyun said, as if confirming something, lowering her head to tell Mang Ke: “I want to kiss you now.”
As soon as the words fell, Mang Ke felt a wave of sweet fragrance approach, followed by a soft touch on her lips.
Mang Ke: “!!!” Damn it, this woman kissed me!
Mang Ke wanted to reach out and stop her. The moment her hand touched the other person’s bathrobe, she was startled by the soft texture. In her panic, Mang Ke heard a clear laugh in her ear—it was Xun Fangyun mocking her.
Wuwuwuwu, I touched something soft!!!
Xun Fangyun held Mang Ke’s hand and told her: “Open your mouth.”
Mang Ke: “Ah?”
Instantly, a warm object brazenly slipped inside!
“Ngh…”
The tip of her tongue felt a gentle touch. Her nasal cavity was filled with an alluring sweetness. This was the first time Mang Ke had been embraced and kissed like this. Her whole body felt numb from head to toe. If she hadn’t been sitting on the bed, she would have probably collapsed to the floor.
Xun Fangyun kissed her tentatively—not aggressively, but very gently. She subtly seduced Mang Ke’s tongue, waiting for the other person to respond. Mang Ke’s face was already flushed and hot with embarrassment. Her hands had nowhere to rest, so she could only nervously grip the hem of her skirt.
For a moment, only ambiguous gasps remained in the room.
When the soft, lingering kiss ended, Mang Ke was close to tears. She covered her eyes, unsure what to do. No one had ever told her how to speak to someone after an intimate moment.
Xun Fangyun looked at Mang Ke covering her face and couldn’t help but laugh out loud. She took the other person’s hand and complimented her: “You are very docile, just the type I like.”
Mang Ke was so shy that even her earlobes were red. The little devil in her heart had long been chased away, leaving only a stick firmly planted in her core.
Xun Fangyun leaned down and kissed Mang Ke’s ear, causing the little rabbit to shrink her neck instinctively.
“Although it’s a little late to say this now,” Xun Fangyun whispered: “I still need to add it.”
Mang Ke looked at her, confused.
Xun Fangyun took Mang Ke’s hand, looking at the clean fingertips, knowing what was missing there.
“From now on, you are my wife,” Xun Fangyun told her: “Only I can hold your hand from now on, and only I can kiss you.”
Mang Ke was both embarrassed and annoyed: “You, you shameless rogue!”
The reply she received was a light laugh, followed by another kiss.
At the same time, Yue Yin was lying in bed, fiddling with her phone. She looked at Mang Ke’s chat interface in the app, opening and closing it. I added the little rabbit’s WeChat. Why didn’t she message me first? Yue Yin flipped over and poked Mang Ke’s profile picture.
After a long internal debate, she finally moved her fingers and sent Mang Ke an emoji—a pink little rabbit.
Yue Yin: [Are you up yet?] Yue Yin: [I haven’t been to a tea party in a long time. Are you free? Shall we go together?]
