I Quit Being This Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 6
“Shall we have lunch together?”
Mang Ke stared blankly at the woman in front of her. The surrounding area suddenly erupted in screams, vibrating Mang Ke’s ears.
“Huh?” Mang Ke thought she misheard and instinctively asked again: “What did you say?”
“Let’s eat a meal together.” Yue Yin smiled lightly, extended her hand, and tossed the broken glass and tissue paper Mang Ke was holding into a nearby trash can. She said to Mang Ke: “Will you do me the honor?”
The people nearby burst into screams again. Mang Ke scratched her head: “But, I already had lunch.”
“Then we’ll just order a little less,” Yue Yin still didn’t seem to intend to change her mind. She reached out, grabbed Mang Ke’s wrist, and smiled: “Let’s go. I’ll ask for leave for you.”
“Ask for leave?” Mang Ke didn’t have time to say she didn’t work there before Yue Yin pulled her out of the lobby and into a car.
“Aah aah aah aah—”
“Why is Yue Yin taking that woman to lunch!”
“Oh my god, which department is she from? Hurry up and ask in the large group chat! I want Yue Yin’s autographed photo!”
“Asking, asking now!”
“Aah aah aah aah, I want to eat with Yue Yin, too!!!”
When Xun Fangyun was processing work in her office, she noticed the company logo in the bottom-right corner of her computer screen kept flashing. She opened it to find the company’s thousand-person group chat was very lively.
Does anyone know which department this person is from?

What about her?
Who is this? A newcomer?
Xun Fangyun looked at the blurry photo and found the face incredibly familiar. She moved her mouse to click on the image. After a few seconds of loading, a familiar face appeared. Mang Ke’s profile was on the computer screen, and Xun Fangyun’s brow immediately furrowed.
What’s going on? Looking at the décor behind Mang Ke, wasn’t that the company’s first-floor lobby? Xun Fangyun was puzzled. Why did she come here??
Before she could react, another short video was posted in the chat—
She and Yue Yin went out to eat together! If anyone recognizes her, please get an autographed photo!
Aah aah aah, I want one too!
When did Yue Yin come to the company? What did I miss!
Just now around 1 PM, met in the lobby
Oh my god, why did I eat lunch so early!!!
If I had eaten a little later, I could have seen her in person!!!
Aah aah aah aah, I won’t order takeout next time! I must go downstairs to eat!!!!!!!!
Seeing the group chat explode instantly, Xun Fangyun’s face immediately darkened.
What is going on?? Why is the female lead with the female supporting character?? And judging by the short video, Yue Yin’s grip on Mang Ke’s wrist was far too intimate—so intimate that Xun Fangyun’s face turned green.
Xun Fangyun had always been lukewarm towards Yue Yin. Although this person was her ‘first love,’ how much of a book’s plot could be taken seriously? It was Mang Ke, though, who was increasingly causing her distress. First at the banquet, and now she came to the company today.
Xun Fangyun bit her lip, so angry her hands were shaking. This damn woman! Why do I care about her so much? Is it the paper character’s curse!
Oh my god! Quick, have the HR department check who this is! I want her information within three minutes!
Stop checking] Xun Fangyun typed: [The work group chat is for discussing work, not for fangirling. Whoever posted the photo, retract it, or clean out your desk and prepare to be fired!
In an instant, the group chat fell silent. Then, in the next instant, hundreds of chat records were withdrawn simultaneously.
Xun Fangyun shoved her keyboard away and took out her phone to call Mang Ke. She saw that Mang Ke had called her several times, but her phone had been set to silent, so she hadn’t seen any of them.
Damn paper character! Why isn’t she answering my calls!
At the same time.
In the high-end restaurant, Mang Ke looked at the table by the window and said, a little afraid: “Are we sitting here?”
“Yes,” Yue Yin looked back at her and smiled: “The view outside is wonderful. You can even see the sea from here.”
Mang Ke backed down a little: “I’m sorry… I’m a little, uh, afraid of heights. Could we switch seats?”
Yue Yin hadn’t expected Mang Ke to be afraid of heights, but she didn’t refuse her request, asking the waiter to take them to a more secluded table further inside.
After sitting down, Mang Ke finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Looking at the chestnut-haired girl across from her, Yue Yin couldn’t help but smile: “I was in a hurry to leave last time and didn’t have time to ask your name.”
Mang Ke also smiled: “My name is Mang Ke, I am…”
“I know. Xiaochen told me,” Yue Yin said: “You are Xun Fangyun’s secretary, right? You accompanied her to the dinner party last time.”
Mang Ke: “…Ah, yes.”
Yes??? Why did I admit it!!! Bring out your female lead aura!!!
But seeing Yue Yin’s smiling face, Mang Ke still sheepishly conceded. Forget it, forget it. She just needs to play the role of a pretty vase now. Other matters are not for a vase like her to consider.
Yue Yin looked at the somewhat shy Mang Ke with interest. For some reason, she found this girl very cute. Her big eyes always seemed hesitant to look directly at her, nervously darting around. Her chestnut hair was extremely voluminous, looking very nice to the touch. Her skin was white and rosy, like… a little rabbit.
Yue Yin couldn’t help but chuckle: “Mang Ke, you are so adorable.”
Mang Ke: “…Huh? Th-Thank you.” Although she didn’t understand why she was suddenly being complimented, she felt delighted. Mang Ke showed a beautiful smile: “Miss Yue Yin, are you here to see President Xun?”
“Mhm,” Yue Yin said: “I ran into you in the lobby, so I won’t go look for her anymore.”
“I see…”
The waiter quickly served two Western meals. Mang Ke’s portion was slightly smaller but still substantial, causing her tummy to rumble again.
“I’ll tell you a secret,” Yue Yin poured Mang Ke a glass of red wine: “Their red wine is particularly delicious. It’s my must-order every time I come here.”
Mang Ke saw Yue Yin pour a glass for herself as well and quickly said: “Aren’t you driving? You shouldn’t drink.”
The little rabbit is so thoughtful! She even worries about me driving after drinking. Yue Yin felt sweet inside and smiled at Mang Ke: “Xiaochen will pick me up later. It’s no problem.”
Only then did Mang Ke nod: “That’s good. Drinking and driving is very dangerous, and since you’re a celebrity, it would be very troublesome.”
The two chatted casually. Mang Ke was more interested in the restaurant’s food, seriously cutting her steak the whole time. Yue Yin, on the other hand, sent a message to Xun Fangyun, set her phone to silent, and put it aside, ignoring it completely.
Halfway through the meal, three richly dressed women suddenly entered the adjacent area. As they passed Mang Ke’s table, they spotted Yue Yin and immediately exclaimed in surprise: “Yue Yin!”
Yue Yin was also surprised to hear her name called. She looked back at the three women. She found their faces vaguely familiar but couldn’t recall who they were, so she smiled and said: “Hi, hello.”
The women were dressed expensively and all appeared to be in their twenties. Seeing Yue Yin, they enthusiastically crowded around.
“Sister Yue Yin, you’re here for Western food too.”
“Mhm, I was craving it, so I brought a friend along.”
“Oh my, what a coincidence.” A black-haired woman told Yue Yin: “We even made a plan to come here when we had dinner at the Oriental Tower last time.”
Yue Yin thought for a moment. She seemed to recall who this group was. Big cities were never short of famous families. The lives of the wealthy were boring, especially for wealthy women. Tired of tending to their husbands and children, they would gather for afternoon tea and gossip. These young, rich, and idle women were collectively known as the ‘Celebrity Wives’ Club.’ And the three women in front of her were part of that group.
The woman in the wine-red business suit naturally sat down, while Mang Ke across from her was holding her cutlery, looking dazed, unsure who these people were or why they suddenly appeared.
“And who is this…?” The wine-red woman stared curiously at Mang Ke, scrutinizing her from head to toe. A cheap jacket, a common brand hoodie, and inexpensive jeans. No accessories, and her face didn’t show signs of expensive beauty treatments. Clearly a pauper.
Yue Yin introduced her: “My friend.”
“A friend, huh.” The wine-red woman couldn’t help but sigh: “Yue Yin, you are just too kind. I told you that people’s hearts are sinister these days; everyone wants to latch onto you. Don’t call everyone you see a friend; you’ll exhaust yourself that way.”
Yue Yin frowned slightly, while Mang Ke looked completely lost, utterly unaware that they were despising her for being poor.
The black-haired woman saw the convenience bag Mang Ke had placed beside her and picked it up: “Whose trash is this? Why is it on the table? I’ll throw it away for you.”
Mang Ke quickly said: “Don’t throw it away! That’s my stuff!”
“Huh?” The woman was surprised: “Isn’t this trash?”
“It’s not trash. It’s a bag,” Mang Ke explained, thinking she didn’t know: “It’s from the convenience store near my house. It’s sturdy and useful, so I used it to carry things.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the women burst into fits of laughter.
Mang Ke finally understood what they were laughing at. She looked at the bag awkwardly, feeling at a loss. Although it was a convenience store bag, it was environmentally friendly and attractive, reportedly having been improved with a significant investment following a design competition. But in the eyes of these people, a trash bag was a trash bag, and no amount of attractive design could change that.
“That is very impolite of you.” Yue Yin wiped the corner of her mouth, telling the women sitting nearby: “And did I invite you to sit down?”
The women: “…Yue Yin?”
Yue Yin looked up at them: “I will choose who I make friends with myself. If you are not dining, please leave this restaurant. The owner is my friend, and I’m sure she wouldn’t like people like you.”
This statement instantly changed the women’s expressions. They knew Yue Yin had strong backing and dared not openly object. They could only snort and link arms before leaving.
With the silence returning, Yue Yin rolled her eyes and complained: “Those women are so annoying.”
Mang Ke felt a bit embarrassed: “Did I cause you trouble? Your friend might be very inconvenienced if you chase away customers, right?”
“It’s alright.” Yue Yin smiled, pursing her lips: “The friend I was referring to is me, myself~”
