I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again - Chapter 54
The red tentacles binding her arms sank deep into her flesh. As if she had lost the sensation of pain, Yan Xingyu clenched her hand around the ring, forcing down the dark premonitions rising in her heart.
In this moment of life and death, there was no time for sorrow. She watched as the golden eyes, previously distant on the horizon began to sink, descending toward her for reasons unknown.
They come with ill intent, the thought flashed through her mind. Realizing the situation was disadvantageous, she saw no need for a head-on confrontation. Yan Xingyu turned to flee, searching for a new exit while on the run.
But the golden eyes would not let her go so easily. Step for step, they pursued her, closing the distance until they were nearly upon her.
The dark undercurrents of the world seemed to follow her every move. Feeling the wind behind her striking like blades, Yan Xingyu dodged left and right. However, in the blink of an eye, the golden eyes had closed the gap. Her heart pounded violently, a crushing sense of suffocation rushed to her head, nearly forcing her to surrender.
Knowing she could not defeat this enemy in a direct fight, Yan Xingyu looked at Xiao Yin (Little Silver), who was struggling to fend off the tentacles entwined around her. This troublesome appendage made it impossible for her to move freely. How could she shake it off? In a flash of desperation, a spark of inspiration hit her.
In the next instant, silver light flashed in her hand.
Yan Xingyu gritted her teeth and severed her own right arm. Even as she gasped for air, she wasted no second, immediately transforming the silver blade in her hand into a long spear and thrusting it toward the golden eyes behind her.
The severed arm fell into the sea of blood, creating only a tiny ripple before being swallowed by a massive wave. Yan Xingyu timely sealed her meridians, preventing herself from becoming a mere bloody mess.
The bone deep agony actually cleared her mind. She saw the golden eyes extend a pair of invisible hands to block her spear. As expected, the opponent was not easily dealt with, but Yan Xingyu had no intention of staying locked in a stalemate.
Even with only her left hand remaining, she wielded the long spear with singular focus. Every thrust broke the air, scattering silver frost across the sky as sharp energy reversed the flow. The two sides fought inconclusively.
Though she had lost an arm, she was no longer hindered by the tentacles. Putting forth her full strength, Yan Xingyu managed to fight the golden eyes to a draw, though neither side could gain the upper hand.
She swept her gaze around, trying to find the enemy’s weakness. But because she was too focused on the fight in front of her, she failed to notice a sudden surge of waves behind her, which dragged her down into the ocean.
The tide rushed in from all directions. Fortunately, Yan Xingyu reacted quickly, protecting herself with spiritual energy. Fearing other monsters might be lurking in the depths, she kicked her legs, trying to swim back to the surface. At that moment, Xiao Yin detached from her briefly before returning to her side.
Yan Xingyu realized Xiao Yin had gone to retrieve her severed arm. Using some unknown method, the snake successfully reattached the limb to her body.
Yan Xingyu swung her arm a few times, it felt perfectly normal. She was both amazed and grateful, the power of an immortal body was truly extraordinary but she knew she couldn’t afford to be reckless just because of it.
Her primary mission now was to leave this place as quickly as possible.
However, the harder she swam toward the surface, the further away the waterline seemed to recede. It was as if an invisible force was blocking her, even pulling her back.
Turning around, she caught a glimpse of a cluster of black light in the depths of the crimson sea. Her eyes narrowed. She felt a strange attraction emanating from that spot. After a moment’s thought, she flipped her body and swam downward.
The path down was unexpectedly unobstructed. Yan Xingyu soon arrived before the several foot tall black mass. She couldn’t tell what was inside. Just as she moved to observe more closely, the surrounding waves surged without cause, pushing her forward.
She tumbled inside headfirst. Her vision went dark, then brightened. When she looked up again, she saw a woman sleeping peacefully under a glaze colored umbrella frame. Slender, transparent tentacles wrapped around her as if cradling her, swaying with the waves to lull her to sleep.
Seeing those exquisite and familiar features, Yan Xingyu’s heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t help but reach out to touch the woman’s pale cheek, whispering: “Yi Rong.”
At her soft call, the woman actually opened her eyes.
But seeing the woman’s indifferent gaze, Yan Xingyu was bewildered. She spoke again: “Yi Rong, what’s wrong with you?”
Before the other could respond, Xiao Yin, who had been resting on her hand, shot forward like a bolt of lightning. The snake’s tail coiled tightly around the woman’s neck. Seeing them start to scuffle, Yan Xingyu shouted: “Xiao Yin, what are you doing!”
“Master, this person is not Yi Rong!”
As the words fell, Xiao Yin tightened its grip on the woman’s throat, intending to strangle her.
The woman’s previously curled body straightened during the struggle. The floating tentacles behind her surged forward, seizing the silver snake and binding it.
The woman tilted her neck, looking at the person before her with a tone of slight surprise: “I didn’t expect you to have such a great influence on her.”
Hearing that same unfamiliar voice from before, alarm bells rang in Yan Xingyu’s mind. She demanded sternly: “How are you in this body?”
The woman lifted her eyelids and looked at her: “I am in the body of my descendant. Why should I not be?”
As she spoke, the woman sensed a mysterious attraction coming from the person in front of her. She leaned forward. Seeing the other take an aggressive stance to strike, she smiled faintly and effortlessly neutralized the move, grabbing Yan Xingyu’s hand instead.
With a forceful pull, the distance between them closed abruptly. Seeing the look of disbelief on Yan Xingyu’s face, she laughed: “Child, be good. Stop showing off your meager skills.”
Yan Xingyu tried to summon Xiao Yin back with her thoughts, but saw the snake pinned by thin tentacles, unable to even transform. Her gaze shifted to the woman’s upturned lips and her mocking eyes.
She surmised this was a barrier controlled by the opponent, which was why their thoughts couldn’t manifest into action. Damn it, why are there annoying barriers everywhere?
Yan Xingyu recalled what the woman had just said that Yi Rong was her descendant. Did they share a bloodline? But this person had stolen Yi Rong’s body and was relentlessly pursuing her, she clearly wasn’t a good person. She tested: “What do you want?”
Yan Xingyu watched as the woman squeezed her wrist. The woman didn’t answer, nor did she speak further, simply staring at her with a condescending, scrutinizing gaze.
The stranger was using Yi Rong’s body and face to show expressions Yan Xingyu had never seen before. This mixture of the familiar and the foreign made Yan Xingyu extremely uncomfortable. She struggled secretly, trying to break free.
Noticing her intent, the woman raised an eyebrow. She summoned the tentacles behind her, letting them swarm over and slowly crawl up Yan Xingyu’s body.
Seeing the trembling body and the face contorted in helpless resistance, the woman felt a surge of pleasure. The thrill of controlling another had returned to her hands, and she savored it.
She leaned down, lifting Yan Xingyu’s face to observe it closely: “Strange. You are clearly not of my clan, yet why do I feel this sense of affinity toward you?”
Yan Xingyu looked down at her bound limbs, then up at the woman close to her face. Without hesitation, she twisted her head and bit down hard on the hand holding her chin.
However, this small gesture was insignificant to the woman. She laughed, pinching the “vicious” mouth and prodding the soft flesh between the teeth, watching as a silver thread of saliva escaped the corner of the mouth.
The amusement in the woman’s eyes deepened. She said: “A child who hasn’t even grown sharp teeth.”
“What else do you want to try?”
The mocking, contemptuous words left Yan Xingyu fuming with rage. But the woman did not remove her hand from her mouth. Her intended retort came out as a muffled, powerless whimper.
“What on earth do you want!”
The woman didn’t answer. She withdrew her fingers from the other’s mouth and moved her hands downward.
Seeing the movement, Yan Xingyu’s brain felt like it exploded. She screamed: “Don’t touch me!”
The person beneath her began to struggle violently. The woman remained unbothered, one hand pinning the waist while the other explored further. She said: “Why are you shouting?”
“I haven’t even done anything yet.”
You haven’t done anything? What else do you plan to do?! Yan Xingyu was suffering in silence, knowing this person was impossible to reason with. Unable to break free, she could only tense her body, watching as the woman touched her at will.
The fact that the opponent used Yi Rong’s face to toy with her in such a contemptuous manner disgusted her. Yan Xingyu said darkly: “I will definitely kill you.”
The threat meant nothing to the woman. Looking at the helpless girl, she smiled and said: “Arrogant words shouldn’t be spoken while you’re pinned down.”
“Furthermore…”
The woman placed her hand over the girl’s heart, feeling the organ beneath the flesh that attracted her so. Every beat seemed to be calling out to her, wanting her.
This profound and bizarre sensation was something she had never encountered. As the woman pondered, an answer seemed to be hovering on the tip of her tongue, she wanted to explore further.
Suddenly, her head began to throb violently. She seemed to hear someone else shouting.
Yan Xingyu noticed the woman’s movements falter and a look of struggle appear on her face. Seizing the chance, she gathered her strength and slammed her head forward, knocking the woman back.
Feeling a sudden connection, she yelled: “Yi Rong!”
The woman felt the other soul in the body suddenly trying to expel her with intense force. This body was not her original form; a clone was indeed difficult to control. She frowned, looking at the person before her.
Perhaps she would make a better vessel.
At that thought, the woman’s eyes turned murderous. Enduring the pain, she stopped holding back. With killing intent, she lunged forward.
But faster than her was a branch of white plum blossoms, which tore through the air and pierced the tentacles binding Yan Xingyu.
The woman turned back warily. She saw a woman in green robes and a jade crown, holding a bow and arrow, standing behind her. Seeing the countless emerald birds circling her, the woman’s eyelid flickered. She said: “A descendant of the Guan family.”
Guan Suxue found the comment strange. Sensing the demonic aura emanating from “Yi Rong,” she said thoughtfully: “Are you the Void Demon, Wei Yao?”
Hearing her identity guessed so accurately, the woman admitted it frankly: “Yes. It seems your Guan family still produces talents in every generation.”
She couldn’t help but sigh: “While my clan withers away with each passing year.”
Guan Suxue had no time for her nostalgia. Within a few breaths, she had deduced the situation. She said coldly: “Get out of Yi Rong’s body.”
“Junior, do not meddle too much in the affairs of other families.”
