I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again - Chapter 4
Yan Xingyu dropped back to the ground. Just as she was about to shout to see if Guan Fei had also fallen nearby, a red shadow swiftly darted out in front of her. The person chasing after it was none other than Guan Fei.
“Guan Fei, are you alright!”
The person ran up, grabbed her, and immediately bolted forward, saying, “Miss Yan, I’m fine. Help me chase that little fellow.”
Yan Xingyu was dragged along. She figured this little fox was very naughty, and since no one was trying to catch her anymore, why bother with her?
However, seeing how concerned Guan Fei was, and feeling a little guilty for not holding onto her earlier, which resulted in her falling (although she was fine), Yan Xingyu didn’t say anything and followed in pursuit.
The two ran to the entrance of a cave. Little Silver spoke up to warn her, “Master, the demonic energy here is very strong. You must be careful.”
Yan Xingyu thought this might be the hiding place of the demon cultivator, but why weren’t there any other cultivators around?
At the same time, Guan Fei felt the spiritual rope tied to Jiaoyu suddenly snap. Her brow furrowed, and she said, “Miss Yan, please wait for me outside. I’ll go in and look for the little fellow.”
Yan Xingyu replied, “That won’t do. I need to catch that demon cultivator for the reward. Besides, since the little fellow ran inside, it’ll be hard for a blind person like you to find her. Let’s go in together.”
Guan Fei considered for a moment and said, “Alright then.”
Yan Xingyu led the way. Although the cave entrance was small, the inside was quite vast. They searched inside, but after a long time, they still hadn’t found the little fox and had yet to reach the end of the cave.
The surrounding temperature unknowingly dropped. Yan Xingyu wasn’t wearing much and shivered from the cold. She said, “Are we in a mountain cave or on a snow mountain? Why does it feel colder and colder?”
Guan Fei said, “Miss Yan, you won’t be so cold if you use your spiritual power to protect yourself.”
Yan Xingyu chuckled awkwardly and said nothing. If she had enough spiritual power, she would have done that already.
Suddenly, a flash of red light appeared in front of her and vanished in an instant. Although it was just a blink of an eye, Yan Xingyu noticed it. She called out, “Little fellow, stop running!” and chased after it.
Guan Fei sensed the person running away from her and urgently called out, “Miss Yan, don’t go too far from me! It’s very dangerous in here.”
Hearing this, Yan Xingyu stopped immediately after running a few steps and turned back.
But in that instant, Guan Fei disappeared from her sight. She called out, “Guan Fei, where did you go?”
“Miss Yan, I’m here.”
Fortunately, the person was still around. Based on the voice, Guan Fei should be right in front of her, but she couldn’t see her. Yan Xingyu quickly asked Little Silver, “Little Silver, can you see where Guan Fei is?”
“Master, she is right in front of you.”
Yan Xingyu frowned, knowing this was unusual. She walked a few steps forward along the path she had come, reached out, and tried to feel ahead. It seemed like there was a transparent wall standing in front of her, blocking her way.
She shouted, “Guan Fei, there’s a wall between us!”
Guan Fei also noticed the wall and realized something else.
“Miss Yan, someone has come to your side.”
Hearing this, Yan Xingyu looked back, but the empty cave showed no one, not even a ghost.
She replied, “Guan Fei, are you sure? I don’t see anyone. Don’t scare me.”
Guan Fei said, “Miss Yan, she’s getting closer. Be careful.”
Little Silver also said, “Master, something is indeed approaching.”
For some reason, the cave suddenly became eerily quiet. Yan Xingyu couldn’t help but feel her heart pounding. Her body tensed up, and she felt a layer of cold sweat breaking out, making her feel uncomfortable.
Suddenly, Little Silver’s sharp voice rang in her ear.
“Master, at your feet!”
She looked down and saw a pool of black water forming beneath her. Streaks of shadowy black fish swam out and coiled around her feet. Many had already swum up her body. Yan Xingyu panicked. She tried to move but found her body seemed to be fixed, unable to budge.
The fish swimming on her skin didn’t seem to be harming her, but they weren’t letting go either. The wet, icy touch came one after another, giving her goosebumps.
The black shadowy fish on the ground instantly converged and formed a figure that stood up. She saw a pair of light amber eyes revealed, stained with a look of confusion. Paired with those exceptionally delicate and cold features, the woman, though unadorned, captivated Yan Xingyu for a moment. She watched the woman approach her.
The woman grabbed her chest, and a cold, low magnetic voice sounded next to her ear: “My heart is still here, but you are not her.”
With that, the woman’s hand unconsciously moved. A sudden tingling sensation washed over Yan Xingyu, instantly making her blush. Yan Xingyu snapped back to reality and couldn’t help but scold, “Even a beauty shouldn’t just grab someone’s chest like that!”
Little Silver shouted, “Master, she is Yi Rong! Hurry up and figure out how to escape!”
The woman heard the scolding but didn’t stop the movement of her hand. Her fingers even traced circles around the person’s chest, seemingly pondering something.
Hearing Little Silver say this person was Yi Rong, and recalling the deep seated hatred between her original self and Yi Rong, the strange thoughts she had entertained immediately scattered.
But what was strange was that she didn’t feel any hostility from the other party. In this situation, she even felt like this person was flirting with her.
She inwardly cursed herself for being infatuated with beauty. You need to understand that she’s here to kill you.
Shaking off the extra thoughts in her head, she tried to break free again. Seeing that she still couldn’t move, Yan Xingyu had no choice but to shout loudly, “Guan Fei, where are you? Come and save me! I’m going to die!”
Guan Fei had located Yan Xingyu’s approximate position and was trying to find a way to break the wall separating them.
Hearing the plea for help, she no longer hesitated and struck swiftly. She didn’t forget to respond, “Miss Yan, don’t worry, I’m here.”
A cracking sound exploded. Seeing the barrier she had set up forcefully shattered, Yi Rong looked up and saw the woman in blue robes walking over. She stopped what she was doing, transformed back into a black shadow, and quickly attacked the newcomer.
Hearing the fierce fighting sounds nearby, Yan Xingyu struggled to turn her head, wanting to see the battle situation. She was worried that Guan Fei might be at a disadvantage because she couldn’t see the opponent. To her surprise, the two were fighting fiercely, neither giving ground.
She spotted a flash of red on the stone wall..it was the little fox they had been desperately searching for. After searching for so long, the little fellow had come out on its own. Upon closer inspection, the little fox’s appearance was actually meant to target Guan Fei.
Seeing the little fox trying to sneak attack Guan Fei while taking advantage of the chaos, Yan Xingyu’s heart tightened.
Guan Fei had already sensed Jiaoyu’s presence and guessed her little scheme. She dodged Yi Rong’s attack and, playing along, managed to firmly grab her as she lunged over.
She quickly cast a sleep spell on the little fellow, holding her in her arms. No longer interested in fighting, she turned and flew to Yan Xingyu’s side. Her spiritual power manifested into white plum blossoms that fell onto the shadowy black fish entangling her, wrapping them all up and flinging them away.
Just as Yan Xingyu felt her body loosen, Guan Fei grabbed her and ran. Her voice, slightly apologetic, sounded in Yan Xingyu’s ear: “Miss Yan, I’m sorry, I can’t defeat this person. Let’s escape first.”
“Hold on tight, we’ll use a Teleportation Talisman to leave.”
Before Yan Xingyu could agree, a burst of spiritual light flashed, and they instantly disappeared from the cave.
Yi Rong looked at the place where they vanished, deep in thought. She recalled her small fish, which converged into a black mass on her fingertip. In the black shadow, the figures of a young woman in blue and another in green appeared.
The two didn’t run very far and were still inside the cave, but they had arrived at another side of it. They happened to run into a crazed demon cultivator battling a group of cultivators, who were retreating in defeat.
They descended from the sky like goddesses though the ‘goddess’ mainly referred to Guan Fei and with one move, she subdued the crazed demon cultivator, so effortlessly that Yan Xingyu thought it was all staged.
Among the crowd were cultivators from Yuanming Mountain, and one of them recognized Guan Fei: “Isn’t that the young palace mistress of Lingluan Palace?”
Immediately, voices followed one after another: “Heavens, it’s the Young Palace Mistress! No wonder she’s so powerful.”
“The Young Palace Mistress is indeed as the rumors say with the demeanor of an immortal and unparalleled beauty.”
“Thank you, Young Palace Mistress, for saving our lives.”
Flattery and praise flooded towards her. Guan Fei seemed used to this scene and simply nodded and smiled without saying much.
Yan Xingyu, standing beside her, was automatically ignored by everyone. Of course, that wasn’t the point; the point was…
The Yuanming Mountain cultivator, whose name was Ji Zhijie, continued, “Young Palace Mistress, since you have captured the demon cultivator, would you have time to come with us? We will report to the Sect Leader here and offer a hundred pieces of gold.”
Guan Fei opened her mouth to say, “That’s not necessa…”
Yan Xingyu saw Guan Fei about to refuse and remembered that she had worked so hard to come here just to catch the demon cultivator for the reward. With the duck about to be put in her mouth, how could she let it fly away?
She quickly shouted loudly, “We have time, we have time! Let’s go now!”
Ji Zhijie, the Yuanming Mountain cultivator, only noticed Yan Xingyu when she spoke. Seeing her unfamiliar face, but noticing she seemed to be acquainted with the Young Palace Mistress, he didn’t slight her and said, “Then, please, both this young lady and the Young Palace Mistress, come back to Yuanming Mountain with us.”
Guan Fei, sensing what the person next to her wanted, agreed with her.
Watching the people ahead carrying the bound demon cultivator, a large group left the cave. Yan Xingyu followed behind and quietly said, “Guan Fei, thanks for letting me have the reward money. But I also have something to do at Yuanming Mountain, so you don’t have to follow me.”
Guan Fei replied, “Miss Yan, you’re welcome. Subduing the demon cultivator was partly your contribution.”
“I am just an idler. If Miss Yan doesn’t mind, let me come along.”
Guan Fei offering to travel with her was something Yan Xingyu had secretly wished for. Now that she proposed it herself, Yan Xingyu happily agreed, “No problem! Guan Fei, if there’s anything you need help with, don’t be shy. From now on, we are friends.”
Guan Fei’s smile deepened a few shades upon hearing her words, “Miss Yan, please guide me.”
Yi Rong watched the two leave, talking and laughing, before withdrawing her spiritual gaze. She threw the black mass in her hand against the wall and walked inward.
A smell of blood rushed into her nostrils. Yi Rong looked at the high wall of red spider corpses piled up on the ground.
From the other side, a woman’s voice came, “Your dog nose is really sharp. Did you find him?”
Yi Rong did not answer. Sensing a sharp energy rushing toward her, she dodged sideways. She watched the red wall in front of her collapse, revealing the woman’s half-smiling, half-mocking face on the opposite side.
“Yi Rong, why are you pestering me?”
“Just kill me, and then go take your heart back from Rou’er.”
“That way, you won’t have to suffer the pain of the Lotus Thorn anymore.”
Yi Rong still didn’t speak. She just quietly looked at Yan Xiaoling, as if looking through her at another person.
Yan Xiaoling hated that look the most. Vicious words immediately poured out of her mouth.
“You’ve practically killed off the Yan clan already; two more of us won’t make a difference.”
“If I had known you were such an ungrateful wretch, I would have stopped Sister from saving you, which led to the downfall and demise of the Yan family. No amount of kowtows to the ancestors would be enough for her.”
“Demonic creatures are truly no good. It’s a pity my sister just wouldn’t listen…”
The woman’s sarcasm and curses gradually became inaudible. Yi Rong retreated into her black shadow, floating on the silent water surface. Her thin lips parted soundlessly, and her light amber eyes gazed at the unseen distance ahead.
