- I Need To Find A Way To Make Her Love Me Again
- Chapter 3 - Life is Hard, the Scramble Begins
Guan Fei was stunned by the scolding, her footsteps slowed, and she apologized with a look of embarrassment, “My apologies, Miss. I’m visually impaired, I don’t know the way, and I’ve circled back. I’ve caused you trouble, I truly…”
“Dead woman, put down the Fire Fox quickly, or when I catch you, you’ll pay dearly.”
Just as the words were yet, yet, yet to be finished, the man yet, yet, yet appeared again, interrupting their conversation. Yan Xingyu glared at him furiously. A long staff instantly appeared in her hand and lunged towards his vital spot.
The man was startled to see the beggar-like woman suddenly attacking him, but he quickly reacted and dodged the blow.
However, the long staff in the opponent’s hand split into two sections in a flash, rapidly attacking him. The attacks were fierce and tricky, landing hard blows on his body. Facing the relentless assault, the man was soon unable to cope and was knocked out cold.
Yan Xingyu finally heard silence. She breathed a sigh of relief, feeling much more comfortable, and didn’t bother to argue with the woman who had an eye condition. She said, “Now no one is chasing you. Stop circling around here, let’s go.”
Guan Fei was grateful that the other person had intervened for her. She said, “Miss, you are truly a good person. I will remember this kindness in my heart. My name is Guan Fei. How should I address you, Miss?”
Yan Xingyu originally didn’t want to talk to this person, but then she heard Little Silver say, “Master, I remember now. This person is the Young Palace Mistress of the Lingluan Palace, she’s very formidable.”
Very formidable yet being chased? Yan Xingyu wondered if she was playing innocent to hide her strength.
However, since Little Silver had reminded her, and the other party’s identity was quite significant, and she offered to remember her kindness given that she was unfamiliar with this place making an acquaintance might be a good idea.
Thinking this, Yan Xingyu also gave her name, and her attitude became more polite. She said, “Yan Xingyu. It’s a small matter, you don’t need to dwell on it.”
Guan Fei smiled, “How can that be? At least let me treat you to lunch, how about it?”
Little Silver asked somewhat confusedly, “Master, why did you say your name is Yan Xingyu?”
Considering that she would be with Little Silver forever, Yan Xingyu didn’t want to keep lying to it, so she replied directly, “Little Silver, I am not Yan Rou. The person who will live on with you from now on is Yan Xingyu, understood?”
Little Silver seemed to half-understand, but Yan Xingyu couldn’t worry about it too much.
Hearing Guan Fei ask her about food, of course she wanted to eat! She was tired and hungry after running for so long, and she definitely didn’t have any money on her. Free food delivered right to her, she wouldn’t miss it. She replied, “Yes, we can go. Shall we?”
Guan Fei continued, “However, due to my visual impairment, I’ll need to trouble Miss Yan to lead the way. Feel free to choose any restaurant you like.”
Yan Xingyu said okay. Thinking she didn’t know the way either, she decided to wander outside first. While leading the person forward, she observed the person next to her walking unhurriedly. Although her eyes were covered with a white veil, she didn’t seem visually impaired.
So she asked, “Guan Fei, you walk quite naturally. You don’t look like you can’t see.”
Guan Fei smiled and said, “Although I cannot see, I have spiritual energy assisting me, which allows me to perceive my surroundings. So it doesn’t hinder my daily activities.”
Spiritual energy could be used this way? Yan Xingyu found it amazing. She then saw the small fox Guan Fei was holding, which was still sleeping. She had been running back and forth for so long, but the little creature in her arms was sleeping soundly.
“Why did that man want your fox?”
Guan Fei answered honestly, “Miss Yan, it’s because she’s not mine. I stole her.”
Yan Xingyu: ?
Guan Fei continued, “I was just passing by here and encountered cultivators from Qingding Mountain performing demon-slaying and safeguarding the Dao outside the city.”
“But this little fox is young and not an evil demon. I felt pity for her, so I went to reason with the cultivator, but it was unsuccessful.”
“Also, remembering my elders’ admonition not to cause conflicts when traveling, I had no choice but to steal her.”
“However, since this was my first time doing something like this, I was quickly discovered, and then I had to flee. That’s when I met Miss Yan.”
Yan Xingyu thought, this person looks worldly unblemished, yet her actions are very grounded. Also, her elders told her not to fight, and she genuinely didn’t fight, making her seem like a good girl.
She simply hummed in acknowledgement. The two walked out of the alley towards the lively crowds. They arrived at a grand looking restaurant. Yan Xingyu saw it wasn’t cheap and must have good food, so she led the person inside.
The waiter greeted them, “How many, esteemed guests? The main hall or a private room?”
Yan Xingyu said, “Two. The main hall is fine. Bring me three of your signature dishes first.”
She saw the waiter glance at her a few times, then at Guan Fei next to her, before replying, “Alright, esteemed guests, this way please.”
The visually impaired person next to her couldn’t see the waiter’s strange look, so Yan Xingyu asked Little Silver, “Why did that waiter look at me strangely?”
“Master, it might be because you are disheveled and untidy. The other person thought you couldn’t afford the meal.”
Yan Xingyu pondered that she had just escaped for her life; where would she have time for image management? After Guan Fei was seated, she asked the waiter for a room. Upstairs, she looked into the bronze mirror and saw that she still had quite a bit of weeds on her head.
No wonder the waiter suspected she was broke. She patted her body. Okay, she was indeed broke. She sighed, I thought I had transmigrated into some wealthy young lady, but I’m still penniless. I have to strive and work hard myself.
Sigh, I’m here already, no use thinking too much. Let’s focus on the present. She had Little Silver turn into a pair of scissors. Yan Xingyu trimmed her hair, bangs, and sideburns, tying her hair into a high ponytail. She then gave her face a good wash.
She tidied her robe, tied the coiled sash belt to accentuate her waist, and stood up straight. Looking at this face that resembled hers by seventy percent, it was indeed a coincidence.
However, Yan Rou’s facial features were more defined, with an extra cinnabar mole on her left cheek. Her pair of alluring, smiling peach blossom eyes now held the soul of Yan Xingyu.
After a quick freshening up, she went downstairs and saw that the dishes were all served. They looked and smelled delicious. She sat down and immediately started eating.
The flavor was excellent. Seeing the person opposite her hadn’t touched their chopsticks, Yan Xingyu spoke up, “Guan Fei, you should eat too. The food here is quite good.”
Guan Fei smiled, took out a porcelain bottle, poured out a pill, and said, “Miss Yan, please enjoy your meal. I only need to eat this.” She then raised her hand and fed the pill into her mouth.
Yan Xingyu asked, “What is that? Can eating that fill you up?”
Guan Fei explained, “Eating solid food is often inconvenient for me. Spiritual pills can satisfy hunger just the same.”
Yan Xingyu gasped, “How boring it must be to eat that stuff.”
She picked up a piece of meat with sauce dripping from it and put it in her mouth, savoring the flavor, “Life is but three meals a day. You absolutely cannot do without delicious food.”
Guan Fei merely smiled gently, “I have always been this way, Miss Yan. Don’t worry about me. I’m happy as long as you enjoy your meal.”
Yan Xingyu said “Oh.” She was genuinely hungry and buried her head in her food. Guan Fei quietly stroked the little fox in her arms. The other diners in the restaurant were discussing things while eating.
“Why have there been so many cultivators in Yeyuan lately?”
“I heard that a cultivator from Yuanming Mountain became a demon and ran here. It seems he’s near Luchu.”
“Heavens, that close?”
“That’s why Sect Master Jiang not only sent his own disciples down the mountain but also offered a hefty reward, hoping that capable individuals from all sides would help them capture the demonic cultivator.”
“No wonder everyone is rushing to Yeyuan.”
Yan Xingyu was eating heartily and was very satisfied. Hearing the discussions around her were about Yuanming Mountain, where she was supposed to be transported to, she perked up her ears.
Guan Fei felt the person next to her stop eating, guessing she was interested in what others were saying. She asked, “Miss Yan, are you also interested in capturing the demonic cultivator?”
Yan Xingyu thought about how she had her own mess to sort out; where would she have the time to worry about others? She replied, “No.”
However, she was proven wrong very quickly. When Guan Fei went to settle the bill, she heard the meal cost ten of silver. After a rough understanding of the currency system here, it was similar to her ancestors’ era in her previous life, but the prices here had soared by several folds.
She couldn’t help but inwardly complain that this was clearly a rip-off, but fortunately, she wasn’t paying.
Then she heard passersby say that capturing the demonic cultivator would award a hundred gold. She turned to Guan Fei and said, “How about we go and take a look too?”
Guan Fei was already a wanderer with nothing much to do. Since she was free, she agreed, and the two set off together.
They followed behind the cultivators heading to Luchu. Seeing everyone was performing sword flight, Yan Xingyu asked Little Silver if it needed to come out and fly with her.
Little Silver was very troubled, “Master, with your current spiritual power, I can only maintain my artifact form for a very short time. If we forcibly perform sword flight, we will definitely fall midway.”
Yan Xingyu sighed deeply. Sure enough, spiritual power is important in all cultivation worlds. She turned to the person beside her and said, “Guan Fei, can you perform sword flight?”
Guan Fei replied, “Of course I can, but I need Miss Yan to be with me to guide the way.”
This was exactly what Yan Xingyu wanted. She said cheerfully, “Then I’ll go with you. Let’s follow those cultivators to Luchu.”
Guan Fei said, “Alright. I’ll trouble Miss Yan to temporarily look after the little one for me.”
With that, she handed the little fox she had been holding to Yan Xingyu. Concentrating her mind, a white plum blossom materialized on her slender fingertips. She held the plum as her sword, tossed it into the air, and pulled the person up with her.
Guan Fei asked, “Which way do we go?”
Yan Xingyu was amazed, hearing the other person’s question, she replied, “Forward, to the East.”
Guan Fei said, “Good.”
Yan Xingyu only needed to be responsible for directing, the rest was not her concern. Seeing them easily catch up with the cultivators ahead, she thought, it feels great to have someone to rely on. Good thing I was smart enough to bring Guan Fei along.
Guan Fei flew fast and steady. Yan Xingyu saw they were close to their destination. The little fox in her arms was still sleeping. The touch was excellent. Thinking she would have to return it soon, she couldn’t help but stroke the little creature’s soft fur a few more times.
She then thought that it had been sleeping for so long; it seemed unusually well-behaved. Yan Xingyu asked, “Are little foxes usually this sleepy?”
Guan Fei replied, “Normally, no.”
Yan Xingyu asked, “Then why has she been sleeping the whole time?”
She heard the person flying in front reply solemnly, “Because she was too rambunctious, I cast a sleeping talisman on her.”
Yan Xingyu… was speechless for a moment, and a word came to her mind. She said, “I didn’t expect you to be quite crude in the way you handle things sometimes.”
Guan Fei laughed, “However, the effect of the talisman should be wearing off soon. The little one should wake up shortly, Miss Yan, please be careful.”
Yan Xingyu said, “Just don’t wake up right now.”
But the jinx never knows they are a jinx. As soon as Yan Xingyu finished speaking, Jiao Yu’s consciousness slowly gathered. Opening her eyes, she saw an unfamiliar face and instinctively wanted to run.
Yan Xingyu shouted, “Guan Fei! The little fox is awake!”
Jiao Yu immediately climbed onto the person’s shoulder and vigilantly scanned the surroundings. She realized they were flying in the air, and the person flying the sword in front was the woman who had knocked her out earlier. Anger surged, and she leaped over, intending to teach her a lesson.
Guan Fei sensed the movement behind her and reached out to try and catch the little fox again. However, this time Jiao Yu was more experienced than the first encounter with this person. She cleverly dodged, grabbed the white veil tied over the woman’s eyes with her mouth, and intended to wrap it around the woman’s neck.
Guan Fei had no choice but to shift her attention to dealing with the little creature. Seeing the person and the fox wrestling, Yan Xingyu distinctly felt the stability under her feet increasingly waver.
She heard the person shout, “Miss Yan, quickly perform sword flight!”
Yan Xingyu saw that Guan Fei was completely entangled and couldn’t concentrate on controlling the sword. She hurriedly told Little Silver to come out and hold things steady for a bit, but sword flight requires a tremendous amount of spiritual energy.
She had none. So the two people and one fox suddenly dropped halfway from the air, caught by a silver light, only to rapidly plummet. Yan Xingyu was afraid they would crash and die.
“Little Silver, turn into an umbrella.”
Just as they were about to hit the ground, Little Silver instantly transformed into a giant silver umbrella. Yan Xingyu wanted to grab Guan Fei, but unexpectedly, the little fox interfered with her at this moment.
She missed grabbing the person for an instant and could only watch them fall.
She screamed, “Oh no, damn it! Little Silver, you better turn back into a sword! Let’s chase them!”
“Master, no spiritual energy left.”
Yan Xingyu: ???
Seeing the umbrella in her hand suddenly vanish, she too lost her balance and fell. Fortunately, the area below was dense woods. Little Silver used its last bit of spiritual energy to transform into a hook, latching onto a tree branch, preventing Yan Xingyu from crashing directly onto the ground.
The falling leaves around her mirrored her current mood, fluttering downwards. Yan Xingyu said bitterly, “Little Silver, I didn’t expect you to be so unreliable. You almost killed me.”
Little Silver thought that it was its Master’s lack of spiritual power that was the problem, but it didn’t say it aloud, only replying, “Master, you wouldn’t have died anyway.”
Yan Xingyu then remembered that she had an immortal body…
