I Love Her Because She’s Dim-Witted And Filthy Rich - Chapter 7
By the middle of May, filming for this Qing Dynasty time-travel drama was halfway through.
Su Miao’s foundation in line delivery and acting skills was gradually getting on the right track.
Duan Bainian was also in talks for a high-profile, slow-paced variety show, and the chances of her securing it were quite high.
As for the fact that Duan Bainian and Su Miao were getting closer and closer, the film crew had gone from being initially shocked to now facing it calmly; they were no longer surprised. Occasionally, when everyone chatted with Duan Bainian, they would even include a few words with Su Miao as well.
This afternoon, after finishing work, Duan Bainian waited for Su Miao as usual.
Su Miao looked somewhat distressed. “The scene where I have to dance is being filmed in two days, but I don’t know how to dance at all. To think I’m supposed to be the ‘Number One Beauty of the Great Qing’—it’s embarrassing just thinking about it. When the time comes, Teacher Wu is going to scold me again.”
At this moment, Su Miao no longer had the shy demeanor she displayed at the beginning when in front of Duan Bainian.
In all fairness, Su Miao wasn’t actually as dull as she had appeared at first. Inside her lived a little elf who loved to share; she had her own little world. And that little world was open to only a very few people.
Duan Bainian was one of those rare few.
This gave her a great sense of accomplishment.
To have someone who was guarded, defensive, and reserved toward others, yet towards you alone, was full of trust and joy, wishing for nothing more than to share every single thing they encountered with you.
Just thinking about it was pleasant.
Duan Bainian patted Su Miao’s head as she always did. “What is there to worry about? With me here, you’re still not at ease?”
Hearing this, Su Miao’s eyes curved into crescent moons. “Hehe, I’m at ease, I’m at ease!”
Duan Bainian changed out of her costume. “Didn’t you say you wanted to eat grilled fish? Let’s go.”
Su Miao replied, “Can we go back to the hotel to change clothes first? I didn’t check the temperature today and I’m wearing a bit too much; I’m sweltering.”
Duan Bainian looked her over. The person across from her was wearing a set of athletic hoodies that looked like an autumn/winter style. No wonder she was hot.
Duan Bainian couldn’t help but sigh. This dummy—did she not even know how to change her clothes according to the seasons?
“Let’s go. Back to the hotel first to change your clothes.”
This was the first time Duan Bainian had entered Su Miao’s room. Usually, Su Miao was the one who went to her place to find her.
On the living room table, several anime figurines were scattered in a mess, and half a puzzle was laid out on the floor, evidently unfinished.
Duan Bainian picked up a figurine and examined it. “Do you like anime a lot?”
At the mention of something she liked, Su Miao smiled so hard her eyes disappeared. “Yeah! The characters in anime are so beautiful!”
Su Miao walked toward the bedroom. “Wait for me for just a little bit. I’ll look for some summer clothes and come out right away!”
Duan Bainian had nothing to do, so she sat on the sofa and scrolled through her WeChat Moments.
A moment later, Su Miao’s voice came out. “I’m changed. Let’s go, Duan Bainian!”
Duan Bainian looked up subconsciously.
Her heart involuntarily skipped a beat.
The person before her had changed into a blue dress. Beneath the knee-length hem were slender, snowy-white calves; one could imagine the texture would be very soft to the touch.
Moving her gaze upward, the waist was slim—small enough to be held in one hand—making her look even more delicate.
Further up were straight and exquisite collarbones, the shallow hollows of the bone adding a touch of allure.
The more Duan Bainian looked, the more astonished she became.
Could this dummy actually have moments that make one’s heart throb?
Seeing Duan Bainian’s strange expression, Su Miao spoke up guiltily. “Um… do I not suit this dress? My mom bought this for me, and this is my first time wearing it.”
Duan Bainian snapped back to reality and smiled. “How could that be? You look great in this dress. Let’s go, time for grilled fish.”
Su Miao finally breathed a sigh of relief. “Hehe, let’s go!”
Leaving the hotel, the night scene outside was pleasant—bustling and lively.
The slight ripple of romantic tension in Duan Bainian’s heart vanished along with the atmosphere of the city life.
She knew very well that she was only moved for that one instant, rather than being moved by Su Miao as a person. Otherwise, she should have felt something long ago—why wait until now?
So, it was probably just… that the little dummy who was usually wrapped up tight had suddenly become a bit sexy, that’s all.
